Next Generation:	August 15th, 2024

SBC Generations are periods of time that each member on SBC is classified based on their registration date. Officially, they're classified by the August 15th date (the date which SBC was created) over a three year period.

Generation Rules

• As long as the user had a reasonable amount of activity within the given timeframe without a ban, they are part of that generation.
• If a user was banned within a generation but had at least a year of activity, they are still part of that generation.
• Activity on other sites does not count.

• Generation 1: August 15th, 2009 - August 14th, 2012

Outliers

There are some exceptions to the generation periods. Members who join shortly before the August 15th date are left to the discretion of their activity to determine their generation. Many of these outliers occurred in 2018 as a result of the Third SBC Renaissance, which led numerous members to permanently move to SBC from SpongeBuddy Mania.

• HawkbitAlpha and Storm are classified as Generation 3 members because, while both were active before their bans, they did not last for a year. Their returns in March and July 2018, respectively, mark the beginnings of clean tenures.
• RDSP and Carotte are classified as Generation 3 members because, although both joined in July 2015, they did not become truly active on the site until 2018.
• Leedles is classified as a Generation 3 member because, although he joined in December 2014, he did not become active on the site until 2018.
• Salmon is classified as a Generation 4 member because, although he joined SBC as "A Sponge Fan" in May 2013, he quickly abandoned the account and did not truly become active until he rejoined the site in October 2018.
• G4y is classified as a Generation 4 member because, although he joined SBC in April 2015, he did not become truly active on the site until December 2018.
• SBManiac is classified as a Generation 5 member because, although she joined SBC in 2013, she did not truly become active on the community until 2022.
• Krystalite is classified as a Generation 5 member because, although she joined SBC in 2019, she did not truly become active on the community until 2022.
