Yearly Tradition: 2016 Kids Choice Awards' Discussion

Clappy

Recommended Posts

As you all may know, we have an annual tradition of pointing out that the KCA's still exist and are still trying to be relevant.  Well this year's show seems like no exception.  They chose kid friendly country artist....oh man I can't even joke about that.  They got Blake Shelton to host this year.  You all know Blake Shelton.  Who's favorite hit song according to kids is, The Voice.  Seriously though, what?  Nickelodeon got someone who is publicly known and admitted to be an alcoholic to host.  Man, this has trainwreck potential if he doesn't stay sober and with how messy the awards have been over the past few years, who knows.

Oh and besides the questionable hosting, let's point out the real reason we discuss in this topic, the nominees.  This year they actually expanded beyond just four choices for their nominees, but as always, the KCA's nominee choices are questionable at best and even with an expanded list of nominees....just what at some of these choices:

Brief Thoughts:

-Favorite tv actor/actress kids show?  Are you implying you diversifying your nominees list is you all trying to promote your own shows won something?  Because Disney is still going to beat you anyway since your programming still sucks Nick.

-The animation programming category expansion was much needed since animated television in the 2010s is so much better than past decades.  I love seeing the inclusion of Gravity Falls in particular because of Nickelodeon constantly shafting it for The Simpsons or older cartoons for some god forsaken reason.

-LOL at nearly half the Best Actor in a Movie list being from Age of Ultron.

-I'm not surprised at all at Silento being nominated for anything because he's a kid and this is the kid's choice awards.  His third grade teacher is very proud of him.  But fucking Drake?  Really?  Yes because Drake is VERY kid friendly with his songs about late night booty calls.  Same goes for The Weeknd because kids clearly love singing about his sexual conquests.

-Not going to even acknowledge best book and video game since Nick doesn't even take them seriously anymore in trying to nominate relevant choices.

I want Hell's Kitchen to win Cooking Show just to see how many parents will complain

Because Chef Gordon Ramsay is so hugable and kid friendly.  Let him go up on stage and tell everyone that their cooking is garbage and that we can all go fuck off.

I thought "hell" was a no no word for Nickelodeon. I kind of hope it wins though, just so Chef Gordon Ramsay can make a guest appearance and makes his wonderful "child friendly" speech.

Overall, this will probably suck as usual, but I hope it sucks with dignity this time.

I'm pretty much happy that they nominated 8 cartoons this year, especially Gravity Falls and Steven Universe. Even tho it's so obv that SB is going to win, I really hope GF wins this year. Rest is pretty much in Idc category; except best movie, actor and actress. God, KCA sucks.

i dont even want to know how Teen Titans GO! made the list.

maybe CN Paid Nick to plaster that show in exchange for 1 like on Vine?

I also hope Gravity Falls wins too :D because that show is ending on what i call The Best Note Ever.

I think TTG is nominated cuz it's the most watched and the most advertised CN show atm and most of it's audience are kids.

...Well, I'm at least glad to see a lot of variety in the animation category this time around. Phineas & Ferb and Ninjago being on the list mystifies me though. P & F was declining in popularity when it ended last year and Ninjago... has an on and off airing schedule to say the least.

But we all know when Spongebob "wins" it doesn't really win. Only real win in the KCA's has been Avatar. I count 4 shows better than Spongebob on this expanded nomination list too.

Hopefully kids are confused by so many choices and finally start not auto-clicking Spongebob. Maybe the votes will be all over the place to a point where one group of dedicated fans is able to award Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, or even Gumball.

Nick might rig for Alvin for promotional reasons, which would actually be the worst outcome. Ninjago would be a better option than Spongebob just because I'd be "lolwtf" for ages.

ALVINNN!!! and The Chipmunks- If this wins I'd be surprised as it's such a bowl of blandness and there's nothing special about it
Gravity Falls- If that wins miraculously on time then it'd show kids were just blindly voting like idiots in the past.
Ninjago- Same as Alvin the past few seasons, it's lost a spark with me recently and I can't explain why but the long af seasonal hiatuses don't help, so yeah "lolwtf" would be an appropriate response.
Phineas & Ferb- Not even bothering with this.
SpongeBob SquarePants- No comment needed.
Steven Universe- Same as GF
Teen Titans Go!- I wouldn't be surprised actually, just severely disappointed
The Amazing World of Gumball- Really, this got nominated? I know to give Gumball credit when it's due and all, but I'm just surprised Nick knows it exists.
