Popular Post Jjs Goodman Posted June 4, 2019 Popular Post Posted June 4, 2019 (edited) https://deadline.com/2019/06/spongebob-squarepants-cg-animated-prequel-series-kamp-koral-greenlighted-nickelodeon-1202626441/ Quote Nickelodeon has given a 13-episode series order to Kamp Koral (working title), a spinoff of the network’s signature series SpongeBob SquarePants. While the mothership is a classic 2D cartoon, the off-shoot will be a CG-animated series, which serves as a prequel to SpongeBob. It introduces 10-year-old SpongeBob SquarePants during his summer at sleepaway camp. Earlier this year, Nickelodeon, under new president Brian Robbins, announced that it is developing for the first time ever spinoff projects for SpongeBob SquarePants characters. Kamp Koral marks the first such project to get a green light. It is slated to begin production in June at Nickelodeon’s facilities in Burbank. In the series, SpongeBob and his pals spend the summer building underwater campfires, catching wild jellyfish, and swimming in Lake Yuckymuck at the craziest camp in the kelp forest, Kamp Koral. SpongeBob SquarePants‘ Marc Ceccarelli and Vincent Waller co-executive produce the prequel. This is the first of the spin-off series to be announced. Edited June 4, 2019 by jjsthekid 10 2 1 4 1
WhoBibbles Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 lol at least the third movie is safe but this... this is gonna stink. Yay we gotta recton the backstory of our characters!!! 1
Honest Slug Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 Sounds anti-Old Man Patrick quality. Depressed Luigi/10
Patty Rose Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 I see Nickelodeon are continuing their trend of turning every cgi film they made that wasn't Rango into a tv show.
dmandagiraffe Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 I mean, I read it. I wasn't super angry or anything. All I could think was "Why? Why does Nick want this camping s#!*%t to happen so much? Why is it necessary?" Ugh, I just wanna die... 1
Popular Post Steel Sponge Posted June 4, 2019 Popular Post Posted June 4, 2019 The staff behind the film and for this spin-off series must feel very proud of this whole Kamp Koral idea that they have made originally for It's a Wonderful Sponge, considering that they're announcing a spin-off series based on this concept even before releasing a trailer for the third SpongeBob film. One thing's for sure though, this new spin-off series, whenever it comes out, will probably only feel like Nick's own version of Camp Lazlo. The fact that Marc Ceccarelli and Vincent Waller are giving this their support speaks some lengths. And although while I can speak for everyone when I say that none of us have really asked for this, I am curious to see how this pans out. 10
EmployeeAMillion Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 While it didn’t turn out to be Planet Sheen 2.0, I still have a couple fears with this. 1. It could turn into a rip-off of Camp Lazlo, and steal some of its jokes. 2. SpongeBob relates to 10 year olds more than any demographic in his “adult” form, so aging him down to their level seems a bit odd. 3. I hope the CGi is at least remotely comparable to Sponge Out of Water, which seems unlikely since this is a TV show. I just really don’t want this to be a step back in a technical department, or for the franchise. But at least since CGi is still more restrictive than 2D animation, at least the faces and movements won’t be as wacky...?
Thanos Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 I’m disappointed Nickelodeon rejected my spinoff plot lines. And now they go for this? Truly disgusting. 6

And although while I can speak for everyone when I say that none of us have really asked for this, I am curious to see how this pans out. Exactly this. I really really did not want a CGI spin-off and "prequel" to SpongeBob SquarePants, but who knows? It might not even be half bad. If it pulls laughs out of me, I'll enjoy it and give it a pass. Same with the other...11? I think? Fuck. 1
GAYLE Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 nick I’m still waiting for Squnschpunsch this sounds so awful I’d rather take the above one as it could work better with the continuity more than this one can 1

It's the fact the whole idea of the characters meeting at a summer camp was dumb from the beginning.

Popular Post GAYLE Posted June 5, 2019 Popular Post Posted June 5, 2019 Paul Tibbitt spoke the truth on Twitter about this. Major respects. Doesn’t matter if you don’t like Post-Movie or not, he’s right. 9 1 1

Oh wait, yes I can 2 1
