Less_SpongeBob
Well jjs said that I could do this if Wumbo wasn't able to when I asked. So why not, otherwise there wouldn't be a list this year, and I gotta do something with free time :p. Anyways, welcome to The SpongeBob Community's ever-popular, now-annual fan list of all of our favorite episodes! That's a mouthful... but don't you worry, anyone on the site can join! I'm not sure if the general consensus has changed since last year, although with some really well-liked episodes coming out recently, alongside new members and possible changes, this still may be entertaining as that's always welcome. Rules are the same as last time--simply send me, @More, via Private Message, a list of what you believe to be the twenty-five best episodes of SpongeBob. Your number twenty-five will receive one vote, and your number one will receive 25. The placement will be determined by the total amount of points an episode gets. Don't worry if you can't think of them off the bat, heck I can't do that, so I'm giving you the rest of the month. I will also allow you to voluntarily send commentary on episodes that were on your list. Hopefully we can get better participation than past lists. I may even get some SBM'ers involved, unless that's a terrible idea. tl;dr, SEND your TWENTY-FIVE FAVORITE episodes to ME in ORDER! No more or less. (You MUST TELL ME if you make changes) The due date is SUNDAY, JULY THIRD, @10:00pm EST. VOTING CLOSED! THE LIST IS FINISHED! Read it if you will. Let the countdown begin!

Less_SpongeBob
Alright! Just in the first day I've got seven lists from: Myself Trophy Honest Slug Wumbo crushingmayhem Fa SOF Let's keep that up. The list I got already surprised me in how much variety there was. Heck, not a single episode made every list. I'm not sure if that's good or bad... but at this point even a mention on your list could drastically change an episode's placement. Don't be shy. Less_SpongeBob
And unfortunately, I got no new lists this week. Taking your time is fine, but I see very little reason why it should take over a month. Better to get an adequate list in than nothing. Maybe even tell your friends. Popular Post Less_SpongeBob
Alright! The list begins... uh... it begins... "I'd give her eleven minutes..." Right now! Welcome to SBC's Top Fifty Best Episodes Ever!, where we get an arbitrary and random set of people to passionately discuss a children's cartoon that's not meant to be more than a joke! Well, we've got twenty-one lists. Not as good as even the worst list's turnout, but it's still appreciated and I rewarded 200 doubloons to all who participated. @More @Bodacious T @Honest Slug @Wumbo @crushingmayhem @Brady Corduroy @SpongeOddFan @4EverGreen @The Guy With the Computer @Fred Rechid @jjsthekid @Hayden @Cha @E.V.I.L @JCM @Clappy @Katniss @Dr. WhoBob @Steel Sponge @Homie☆★ @Spongetron Robotpants Thank you. I was also shocked to see the ridiculous amount of diversity in the list. I mean, A LOT of diversity. No episode even came close to getting on everyone's list and there were some surprising placements down the line, although the choices themselves are easy to guess. In order to break ties, I will be using the method from Clappy in 2013, first point count, then list count, then highest ranking. Granted that's irrelevant because... there are no ties Even if you didn't get a chance to send a list, you can always follow along, or you can get into the discussion by sending commentary to me. Simply PM me, @More, that you'd like to commentate and I'll assign you an episode based on list placement or at random. Write one or two paragraphs describing why you like the episode, and I'll feature you on one of my posts. I've already assigned the first commentator though, and they are... Trophy and SpongeTron RobotPants with #50 and #49! Enjoy. (Also, all pictures and quotes are from SBM's page) SBC's Top Fifty Best Episodes Ever! 2016 Edition #50. "SpongeBob, it's Unfair, not Funfair" "Squid on Strike" (w/ 50 points on 3 lists) Highest Ranking: #7 @E.V.I.L "Squidward and SpongeBob go on Strike" More: And we're dropping off the deck to start the list. What a better way to do that than with an episode's that's really grown on me. I find this episode quite funny on it's own, gags like "It's Unfair, not Funfair" are really ridiculous and highlight the contrast in attitude behind Squidward's and SpongeBob's work ethic. It makes sure to keep it fun and unexpected with SpongeBob not even knowing what a strike is until he's fired while Squidward woefully denies wacky bills. Heck, Mr. Krabs wanting the two back due to annoying replacement teenagers also made surprising sense. And then you realize that this is a social commentary on the state of business today, addressing corporate greed and the common denial of that from workers. What's great is that it isn't one-sided and satirizes both ends, while it still shows the benefits of both (Krab's customers and riches, Squidward's unfair treatment and eventual success... until SpongeBob literally dismantled the establishment, really Squidward, you should've expected that), allowing it to be accessible to any belief. It's really good. Trophy: Nice to see this one kick off the list, I'm really contempt with it just making to be completely honest, although I do wish it was a bit higher, considering...well, this is my number 8 after all. The concept of SpongeBob, a diehard workaholic being tricked into going on strike, mainly due to Squidward finding Mr. Krabs's absurd paydocks unfair, is a valid point. Seeing Squidward trying to get SpongeBob to strike properly was quite hilarious if I say so myself, and the replacements backfiring on Mr. Krabs by annoying him to death was unexpected. The point where SpongeBob becomes a vandal in effort to become a good striker out of completely nowhere backfired everything, however. So in the end Squidward is stuck working forever anyways. The humor was spot-on in this, and the plot wasn't too predictable, so it kept it fresh throughout the whole way, so looking deeply at the context of workers unions and all, it works out almost perfectly for me. This one is quite often overlooked by the other "classics", a term I use extremely lightly, of the pre-movie era. Finally it gets the time in the spotlight that it deserves. #49. "What am I gonna do? My friends, taken by those Jelly creatures! I can feel their creepy, rope-like tentacles now!" "Planet of the Jellyfish" (w/ 53 points on 3 lists) Highest Ranking: #1 @Spongetron Robotpants "SpongeBob and Sandy must fight an evil jellyfish who has cloned other Bottomites" More: Remember my Season 8 list from a few months back? Remember when I put this as the third worst episode that season? While that still stands, I don't hate this, it just confuses the heck out of me with a storyline that can never decide when it should be silly or serious and never took either element far enough, which just took me out of the adventure. But this is the best list. I may as well talk about it's strengths. That plot is awesome on paper. SpongeBob and Sandy team up to save the world from utter destruction by silly jellyfish? Count me in! Invasion of the Body Snatcher's parody? Awesome! Really quotable jokes like the jellion choking on popcorn, SpongeBob saying he hates mustard, and breaking the fourth wall? All great! It even kept me wondering what'd happen next. It's just too bad that the story's so botched and stuck between atmospheres to enjoy as much as its creative merit. But regardless, it's great that we're getting post-movie power on this list, and apparently many liked this, (one of my friends even insisted this was a pre-movie episode) and I can't blame 'em. I even got someone who picked this as #1. SpongeTron: I like it because it has that good B-movie feel to it. I like how the writers went outside the box and created an episode that's basically an Invasion of the Body Snatchers parody. Plus, I really love the horror aspect of it. It feels more like an Invader Zim episode then a Spongebob one. The biggest plothole in the episode is, where did the alien jellyfish come from? Was it always in Jellyfish Fields? Did it come from space? Who knows where it came from, and why it wanted to take over Bikini Bottom. But I digress. It's still a good episode, and I enjoy watching it. Also, the ending makes you wonder if there'll be a sequel. I hope there is.
fortnitefan12
Thanks More. But I didn't know you didn't really like POTJ.
Wumbo
I've definitely warmed up to PotJ over the years. It's akin to my gradual appreciation for Procrastination, in that it's a weird trip of an episode that maybe doesn't make too much logical sense, but is fun to watch all the same. BoJack Horseman
Squid on Strike isn't one of my favorites but it's one of those episodes that Mr. Krabs is a bit flanderized but really works well here cuz they added jokes into it and the plot was creative unlike SpongeBob, You're Fired, which used Mr. Krabs' greed in a really dumb way. The ebding of Squid on Strike pissed me off at first but looking at back, it's so over the top i can let it slide and the show has no continuty after all, do they won't be working forever. Plus it's funny. I didn't put Planet of the Jellyfish on my list this time due to me finding there sre better episodes out there but i still appericiate it and find it one of the greatest season 8 eppies. crushingmayhem
I very much like Squid on Strike since I found the ending to be hilarious. But it was one of those episodes that involves the Krusty Krab and normal stuff happen in it. While it seemed like a new idea to have Spongebob and Squidward fired and go on a strike I feel like the writers should've made the episode more interesting instead of leaving the characters on the same spot for most of the episode. In general, it could've been much more but either way I appreciate the way the episode was written and I enjoy its humor quite a bit, especially the signs Spongebob made.
