Sweat Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 https://corporate.target.com/article/2015/08/gender-based-signs-corporate This makes me really happy. The last thing we really want is people, especially kids, to feel limited with the toys they want to buy just because of their gender. What do you guys think of this? 7
Guest Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 This might make it harder to find one specific item, but it's still good. Kids should be able to play with whatever they want.
Less_SpongeBob Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 I only go to the toy section at target for Lego stuff, and the girls and boy's things haven't been seperate in forever. Of course this is a great move, it allows for more freedom for evetyone to not feel totally embarrassed. Being trans myself it means quite a lot. 1
OWM Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Now kids can play with whatever interests them instead of what's in their pants. Smart move I must say. 4
illiniguy34 Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 I whole heartedly agree with this decision, even if I don't buy what would considered girl toys.
SpongeyKid Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 It provides more freedom/options for the kids and what they wanna buy, so great decision by Target. It's setting an example for every other store out there that has gender specific signs. Who knows, maybe other big named places will follow along with Target. 2
Metal Snake Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Good on them. I always thought those things were silly.
MMM Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Target -------- Respect evolved from Level 3 to Level 54!
E.V.I.L. Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Yay now kids can explore what they want to explore and not have stupid archaic gender roles shoved down them woot! (lol @ people in comments whining)
TheBigOcean Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 In my opinion this allows for kids to have a better selection of Toys because as a kid they have an amazing imagination so I mean if a boy wants a Barbie House for an amazing Toy Soldier fort the by all means let him.
Less_SpongeBob Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 So does this mean anything for their online site? I just checked it out and the gender divisions are still intact.
kylie Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 So does this mean anything for their online site? I just checked it out and the gender divisions are still intact. I'm thinking it will take time to remove gendered labels from the Target website, as well as from every Target world-wide.
4EverGreen Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 I'm just thinking that people who do physical role-playing games with toys (it's a thing, look it up!) Will now be able to buy toys with feminine features WITHOUT having to feel awkward about it!
crushingmayhem Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 They made an interesting move, if its successful other stores will follow suit. I can't imagine that happening here though since it would spark outrage. But still, I wonder what will the consequences of this be.
Elastic Dawg Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Good on 'em, even if I couldn't care less. Let kids play with whatever the fuck they want, not my business. Children suck anyway.
