GET YER HANDS OFF ME WOMAN
-
How did this possibly make its way into an episode rated TV-Y? Without the word "woman", this may have been only a somewhat typical example of cartoon violence. As it is, however, it is beyond sexist - it is a frightening depiction of domestic abuse that no one should have to witness in a cartoon aimed at children. It's even more horrifying because Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy essentially live together as a couple, and so this act of violence is an absolutely unfunny spousal battery. What on earth were the writers thinking? More importantly, why did Nickelodeon believe that this could be aired?
