  1. I’ve got issues with “Issues” by Julia Michaels being nominated for Song of the Year at the Grammys.

In response to homie, I haven’t cared about the Grammys in a long time.  That being said, their selection process for the categories these days are just baffling to me.

I think any if not all awards or awards ceremonies can be considered a joke. I've seen people claim this as such towards the Oscars, Emmys, Golden Globes, the AMAs, the VMAs, etcetera etcetera. Heck, there's still grown adults on the Internet that still care about what wins and what doesn't win at the Kids Choice Awards. This is pretty much why I tend not to care about awards shows in general...but I'll be honest, every once in a while, I'll either watch the Academy Awards and the Grammys or check to see what wins, because sometimes it's amusing for me to see what the academy was collectively in favor of and to agree/disagree with whatever/whoever won an award statue. Granted, most of the choices for the winners of last year's Grammys were predictable and conventional, but that made it so controversial that it was kinda amusing.

Seeing the nominations for the 2018 Grammys right now, it makes me wonder if the academy will learn from their mistakes, because I'm seeing some variety with Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar, and Jay-Z each being contenders for Album and Record of the Year. I was also kinda surprised to see Divide and "Shape of You" left out from the big four categories, knowing the Grammys and their hit album and white traditionalism biases (but also really glad in the case of "Shape of You" because the song sucks IMO.) Julia Michaels being a contender for Best New Artist is something I'm not so troubled with, but I know there are better musical artists out there that are still fresh to our eyes like Jon Bellion, Royal Blood, and Dua Lipa, just to name the ones at the top of my head. There's also "Issues" being considered for Song of the Year, but my biggest issue (hehehe, puns) I have for the nominations is "Body Like a Back Road" being considering for Country performance and song of the year. Lastly, if Melodrama won Album of the Year, I can expect some controversy surrounding the album being chosen over the black visionary works that are nominated, but I wouldn't be surprised because they're the Grammys.
