Space Cowboy
When i saw this i was like NO ONE WANTS THIS. I see that Disney already has a sequel in mind even before the film is released. Looks like they ran out of ideas for movies. At least Pixar isn't producing the film
terminoob
Can we get Kevin James as the lead for Segways? Can we get Rob Schneider to voice every plane in the inevitable sequel to this movie?

terminoob
SUBMARINES! COMING TO A THEATRE NEAR YOU WHENEVER DISNEY REALIZES THAT PLANES WILL DEFINATLY FAIL! You realize how profitable this franchise is, right? Unless this sells zero toys, there's no way this will "fail". Box office bomb? No doubt. Critically panned? Absolutely. But, you (and a lot of other people) are missing the point: Disney doesn't care about that. They couldn't care less. If they wanted this to be successful, it wouldn't have originally been slated for Direct-to-DVD release. They just noticed how Cars sold billions of dollars of merchandise and jumped on the gravy train to Moneyville. It's why Pixar made Cars 2, and it's why Disney almost forced Pixar to do this. Money makes the world go 'round, and huge companies like Disney can get it one way or another.

terminoob
Also: 7. Cars 2 (2011) Critics’ Rating: 39% Kids’ Rating: 82% While it was panned by critics, Cars 2 was mostly beloved among our children, who declared that it was even “better than Cars” (Lizey, 9). Our youngest critics loved it most, noting “I love racing things!” (Graham, 7), “Race cars are funny” (Wilson, 4), and, “Because there’s bad guys, and Mater, and Lightning McQueen, and SPIES!” (Max, 5). Noa, 12, provided a counterpoint: “The thing about the Cars movies is that they are geared to a specific audience and that audience does not include 12-year-old girls.” That's a snippet from an article that compared how kids feel about Pixar movies to how adults feel about Pixar movies. Clearly that gap of numbers indicates that kids liked Cars 2 (to give comparison, the kids rated Cars 2 higher than A Bug's Life, Ratatouille, Toy Story 2, Wall-E, Brave, Finding Nemo, the original Cars, and gave the same rating to Toy Story). While this doesn't have any bearing on the success or failure of Planes, it's worth noting that the demographic that these movies are intended for (kids) loves them (Cars had a 52% rating among the kids, but merchandise sales speak louder than a few kid critics). We may hate these movies, but we aren't really supposed to want to like them. To us, Planes is superfluous. To a 6 year old, Planes is going to be the best friggin' thing ever because flying cars are so much cooler than regular cars (I'm guessing the abundance of regular cars had to do with the 52% of the first Cars movie; Cars 2 had plots and conspiracies and spies and cool gadgets and action and adventure, which is much cooler than Lightning trying to get to a race track).

Cha
Cars had the same philosophy as Disney XD, they're both just meant for little boys. I guess this is fine if they like what they're watching, but it does suck for us older people.
