As someone who read these extensively as a kid, all the jokes about butts, underwear, toilets and bodily fluids are very much a backdrop to a criticism of the education system and stifling of creativity and conformity, while offering jokes that were funny and meta without going overboard, back before the time when everything was self-aware. Whether any of that will translate into a movie at all, I don't know, but I'm glad they've got the chance to at least attempt it. There are very few celebrities that actually try to sound different, because they're getting paid to be themselves. Cha Posted March 27, 2017 Share Posted March 27, 2017 I never cared to read this franchise back in elementary school specifically, it just looked too silly and I thought it was possibly just filled with little kid gross-out humor.
