Webizoid Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 For a standard book report book, I like it a lot. I even played one of the characters (Jem) in the theatrical version (not to bias). Has anyone else read it?
Sauce Mama Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 I've read it. Great book, and I'm even not into reading that much. I saw the movie too. Not bad. I like The Outsiders better though.
Cha Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 I read this book in school last semester. The book was great, and it made me interested stories of segregation even more. The movie did great justice and Atticus Finch was spot on in it.
Dr. Pepper Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Yeah, the movie definitely did the book justice and Gregory Peck was perfect as Atticus Finch. As for the book, I found that its strongest scene was the court scene. The rest was decent, but dragged in some parts.
Ron Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 I enjoyed it. Like Wumbo pointed out, it dragged on in several areas, but there was something about it that hooked a 4th-grade me.
JCM Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 I even played one of the characters (Jem) in the theatrical version (not to bias). Wait, the original? How old did you say you were?
Webizoid Posted July 15, 2012 Author Posted July 15, 2012 @JCM It was at a local theater. Not the movie, lol!
Clappy Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 I remember this book. I found myself not really caring for it either, but hey I've read less interesting books during high school.
TJ Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Never read the book, but my history teacher out the entire movie on for my class about two years back. Pretty boring. But won't deny its strong messages.
Guest hilaryfan80 Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 I liked reading the book whenever I was in school; though, not as much as The Giver.

Sebby Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I read that book my freshman year of high school. It tells the story 1930s small-town racism through the eyes of a little white girl in a remarkable way. Definitely worth reading.
Sabre Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 To Kill a Mocking Bird gave me absolutely no insight on how to kill mockingbirds! Sure it taught me not to judge a man by the color of his skin . . . but what good does that do me? 2
Jellatine Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Hey, that was the first book I read in English when I was 16 which is probably why I don't remember understanding much about it, we did see the movie in class, though.
Webizoid Posted August 13, 2012 Author Posted August 13, 2012 I memorized Atticus' monologue in the courtroom for a talent show in my theater class. It was easy to memorize since when I was in the show I had to sit through it everytime.
