2019

2019 was the tenth year of SBC, and also the 20th anniversary of SpongeBob. This year also saw a transition away from the forums to the Discord in activity.

Timeline

January to March

2019 began with the introduction of iFish Character Months to celebrate SBC and SpongeBob. The year also started off with the resignation of Kylie from staff, prompting a new mod application to determine a new moderator. After a long and hard decision, Trophy became a new Cashier! During February, a new movie-themed event called Flicks February started February 11th and ended February 26th. March Madness 2019 began March 1st, and concluded March 31st. In the end, the Band Geeks won.

April to June

Another April Fools prank was held on April 1st, this time involving Thanos taking over the site. To celebrate both milestones of SpongeBob and SBC, SBC's Worst 50 Episodes List returned, this time hosted by OWM. Submissions for it began on April 15th, 2019. On April 19th, 2019, JCM released an archive of many SpongeBob flash games as an Easter present, acting as both historical preservation and a way of unofficially giving people a form of the Arcade again. Sponge 13 launched on May 19th, 2019. Around this time, OWM and Halibut began to host this year's Worst Episodes & Best Episodes lists respectively to celebrate 20 years. Spin-Off Festival 9 began May 24th, 2019 and concluded June 17th, 2019. This festival contained a new feature, known as the Festival King/Queen, where whoever had the most written content during the festival would be crowned the Festival King/Queen. The Festival King in the end was Old Man Jenkins. On May 24th, 2019, the same day the event started, Leedles achieved the 900,000th post on SBC. On May 25th, 2019, SBC was briefly featured in the Youtube video "The Search For A Day With Spongebob Squarepants: The Complete History" by blameitonjorge. On June 25, 2019, teenj resigned from being an admin to focus on his career.

July to September

SpongeBash was held from July 12th, 2019 to July 31st, 2019, which was an event to celebrate 20 years of SpongeBob. It also contained a teams tournament, which the Independents won for the first time ever in a surprise turn of events. From August 15th, 2019 to August 31st, 2019, SBC had its 10 year anniversary celebration, which was a big event. It contained the final game of SpongeBob Jeopardy!, which was held August 17th, 2019, and was won by CDCB. V5 Dolphin and Orca 8 were given throwback skins to celebrate the site's history. Several old members made surprise visits for the occasion. During the event, it was announced that SpongeCraft would be closed in September due to low activity and needing to cut back on features. Farewell tournaments for it were held on September 13th and 14th respectively. On September 2, 2019, it was announced that SpongeBob Pictionary would be revived with its own Discord server. The first game was on September 14, 2019, an hour before the final SpongeCraft game. Pictionary became a successful replacement for Jeopardy.

October to December

Octerror Fest 2019 was held from October 11, 2019 to October 31, 2019, which was the largest Octerror Fest yet. The Drasticals won the event in the end. On November 13, 2019, dubtrack, the host of SBC Music, unfortunately closed. The site decided to use OWM's as the replacement, which served to host both movie screenings and music parties. During this time, the 13th GCA's occurred, which were hosted by Local. Snowcember Ball 2019 lasted from December 13th, 2019 to December 31st, 2019, which was the final tournament between the Band Geeks, Drasticals and Independents, and in turn, end of the Teams 3 generation. In the end, the Drasticals won. During a Discord party on New Year's Eve, it was announced to end the year that Patty would be promoted to an admin to fill teenj's resignation, while sbl and SOF would be added to help staff as event coordinators.
