Timeline

January to March

The year opened with Patty Sponge officially becoming an admin on January 1st, 2020. Freebooter Februarry 2020, a sequel to the 2016 event of the same name, ran from February 14th, 2020 to February 29th, 2020. The Band Geeks, Drasticals and Independents were disbanded on February 7th, 2020. The Teams 4 Draft begun that same day, introducing two brand new teams: Krusty Krew and Chum Buddies. The new teams officially released on February 28th, 2020, following the draft, which lead into March Madness 2020. It was announced during the event that SpongeBob Wheel of Fortune and Dunces & Dragons would both be concluding this year. The Krusty Krew won the event in the end.

April to June

For SBC's yearly April Fools prank, Disney took over the site. Throughout this half of the year, SBC's forums saw a huge dip in activity not seen since 2012 and 2014's dry periods, however, the Discord remained much more popular and active in comparison. This is chalked up to mostly forums becoming obsolete now, but nonetheless, the staff discussed what they could with members in attempts to rejuvenate activity on the forums. Eventually, many made peace that the forums wouldn't be as active as they once were. A new video game themed event, Arcade Anarchy, took the place of Spin-Off Festival this year, lasting from May 22nd, 2020 to June 14th, 2020. The event served as a tie-in for the remaster of Battle for Bikini Bottom. The games Dunces & Dragons and Wheel of Fortune were both retired by the end of the month in preparation of the new server move.

July to September

On July 7th, 2020, SBC moved its server to a brand new one, which led to a new era for SBC. Due to this transition, it led to a reboot of the following features which were implemented over the following weeks: iFish, Doubloons and Badges. The Super Spongy Square Games returned, which began July 13th, 2020 and concluded July 31st, 2020. For the first time ever in SBC history, it ended in a tie between the Krusty Krew and Chum Buddies. The staff then allowed users to create their own event idea for August 2020's event, and they chose 4EverGreen's idea of a noir themed event. Noirgust: Mystery with a Twistery began August 14th, 2020 and concluded August 29th, 2020, which was primarily centered around the reoccurring SpongeBob Whodunnit game series.

October to December

SBC hosted the major events Octerror Fest 2020 from October 16th through 31st and Snowcember Ball 2020 from December 11th through 28th. The Krusty Krew won Octerror Fest and the Chum Buddies won Snowcember Ball. For SBC's Christmas present, a new official Twitter account was launched. sbl also hosted the fourteenth The Golden Community Awards XIV, with the winners being revealed on December 23rd. Two days later, sbl also became a Fry Cook.

iFish Location Months

Just like last year, several months were dedicated to a specific theme in the iFish Store, releasing old and new items related to locations from the show.

  • January: Krusty Krab
  • February: Chum Bucket
  • March: Jellyfish Fields
  • April: Goofy Goober's
  • May: Glove World
  • June: Goo Lagoon

After June, this was discontinued due to the server move and the staff running out of themes.
