Popular Post Jjs Goodman
A few days late, but I really wanted to think this over instead of rushing some uninspired stuff out. Still kind of wild to me I've been here 10 years, sometimes it feels like I'm in some wild acid trip that I haven't quite awaken from (and if I am, don't wake me up please). To get it out of the way: Nah, not doing shoutouts. Don't have enough time honestly, and I'd rather not retread ground Steel already did in his. Instead, I'm just going to focus on my personal sentimental SBC nostalgia. I'm going to list off my favorite SBC memories, events, and spin-offs/lits, which are three important aspects that made up much of my SBC life to me at least. To start it off, here's my top 10 memories of the community: My Top 10 SBC Memories: #10: V5 Dolphin (2010) - The release of this version really changed SBC forever, beginning the transition from a bunch of scrappy rebels to an eventual full fledged website. #9: Becoming Lead Admin (2015) - It still feels unreal to me that was 5 years ago now. I'm getting too old for this! 2015 was pretty much my peak but I am glad to still be leading to the best I can. #8: Xat (2009-2018) - Yeah, sometime it sucked balls, absolutely. But when xat was great, man, did it give way to some of SBC's greatest treasures. The xat ping is an iconic noise that will forever rest in our hearts. #7: SpongeBob Jeopardy (2011-2019) - It had its highs and lows, but I truly did enjoy hosting this for 8 years. I'm glad Pictionary has been a successful replacement. #6: SpongeCraft (2015-2019) - While it sucks it petered out in activity by the end, the beginnings of SpongeCraft in early 2015 were some of my favorite SBC memories ever honestly. SC gang represent! @sbl @OWM @Patty Rose @DarknessDG #5: Joining SBC (2010) - duh lol. Honestly wouldn't have joined if it wasn't for both 70s and sbs1fan convincing me, so they have a special place in my heart for that alone. #4: Becoming a Manager (2010) - June 20th, 2010 was quite a historic day for SBC when @tvrepairman and I became admins together. Like it or hate us, it undeniably had a big impact and it's a memory I will never forget. #3: Orca 8 (2012) - SBC legit would've died if it wasn't for this version. Summer 2012 was a hell of a nostalgic time for me and this was a big reason why. #2: Starfish 11 (2015) - IPS 4 has been my favorite software we've used to date and I love how it turned out for V11. Fall 2015 memories mang. #1: Riffing Theater 3000 (2013-2018) - Some of the riffs haven't aged well, but man, helming this really made up a lot of good memories for those 5 years. My favorite SBC projects have been ones where everyone collaborated together and this executed it a lot better than it had any right to. I laughed so many times during this and also cringed many times, but it was a ride I'll never forget. While I personally have no plans for a revival or continuation anytime soon, never say never either. Events have become a big SBC staple, and I thought it'd be different to list my favorites from the past decade. My Top 10 SBC Events: #10: March Madness 2013 - I won't deny, yes, this event got a bit too wild for its own good, and four teams were undeniably a dogshit braindead idea, BUT goddamn, my nostalgic moist meter can't leave it off of here. It was our first true teams event, setting in motion 7 years worth of competitions, and it was fun as hell, even with the obvious problems, it made for a fun ride. At the end of the day, that's what can go a long way for some of these events. Special thanks to SOF for even making this event a reality as honestly I think people undersell how important this was in shaping future SBC events. #9: Octerror Fest 2012 - In many respects, this was our first true large scale event and therefore, I can't leave this off either due to its legacy. It introduced iFish too, which I can never forget. This was just a fun first step into our "real" events, and it makes me nostalgic for that late 2012 period, man. #8: Rodessance (2018) - When SBC commits to an event theme, it goes all out in that theme. This one wasn't a mindblowing galaxy brain cosmic magnum opus or anything, but it was just nice and fun, and the western theme led to some amusing shenanigans. It felt like a nice cap to SBC's wild summer that year. #7: Snowcember Ball 2019 - For the final competition between the Band Geeks and Drasticals, this was the best way to go out. It was close as hell and I love that type of competition. Even outside of teams, there was so much to do, moving trivia contests to quizzes was a much needed change, and the skins were some of our best designed ever (thanks Fry Cooks ). In many ways, this event felt like the end of an era honestly. Speaking of close competitions... #6: March Madness 2015 - The first real Band Geeks vs. Drasticals event, and it was our closest event ever, which kept everyone on the edge of their seat throughout. This finally felt like it perfected the teams formula, and wow, did it pay off. #5: Fab Beats February (2017) - One common criticism people understandably have with our events is that at times, they get too same-y. I think this is a rare outlier that cleverly subverted those expectations in a meaningful and fun way. The major focus on SBC Music made it feel so different than anything else and gave it a chill vibe throughout. Given SBC's long history of music stans, this added an extra layer and flavor to its depths and made it feel like a nice celebration of those aspects of the site. #4: SBC's 10th Anniversary (2019) - A fun, sentimental and at times, bittersweet, trip down memory lane that truly shows how amazing it is how far we've come. The final Jeopardy is one aspect of this I won't be forgetting anytime soon, that's for sure. And special thanks to all the users who sent in their hearty speeches about what SBC means to them, it meant a lot to staff. #3: The Super Spongy Square Games (2016) - You know me, I love some good competition, summer, and an Olympics theme. All three of those combined together made for a sweet ride on my nostalgic moist meter. The medal system was also a nice way to give recognition to people who came in 2nd and 3rd places, making it feel like anyone really had a chance throughout this. (and yes, a sequel is coming this year boys) #2: Spin-Off Festival 7 (2017) - Hands down, my favorite iteration of the Spin-Off Festival. It was active, the games were poppin', and spin-offs/lits really got those creative juices flowing. As time passes, summer 2017 is becoming nostalgic for me and this is a reason why. #1: Camp SBC (2015) - Sometimes, an event doesn't need to be huge to be great, but rather, the atmosphere and circumstances surrounding it. I think for me personally, this event encapsulated SBC for what it truly is: a community. Everyone had fun together during the games (arguably some of our most active ever) and more quieter aspects throughout the event. It was a great end to our summer and was a great little transition into Starfish 11 a month later. This was an experience I'll never forget. And last but most certainly not least: My Top 10 Spin-Offs & Literatures #10: Person: Boy Nincompoop (by @Tyrion Lannister and @CDCB ) - As a big Jimmy Neutron stan, this was made for me. It's a shame this never continued, but I understand why. #9: Community Deathmatch (by @Old Man Jenkins ) - You know what they say: It's just posts! I await the conclusion, whenever that may be. #8: Keeper of the Spatula (by @NegiSpongie ) - A very underrated gem the more the years go by. As a Lord of the Rings fan, I enjoyed the references a lot. #7: Team SpongeBob (by @teenj12 ) - Never did I see a bigger glow-up of a spin-off than this. By the end of its run, it truly became its own beast and really showed how much teenj grew as a writer. #6: Underwater Survivor: SBC Style (by @Steel Sponge ) - The Total Drama of SBC of the 2010s. When this was starting out, I religiously looked forward to this almost every week. It was my jam as a teenager, for real. I had so many fond memories speculating over this and looking forward to what would happen next. I do miss it, but at least it ended on a high note when it did. #5: One-Time SpongeBob Characters: Where Are They Now? (by @Wumbo ) - This was a cute, fun and different type of spin-off that made clever usage out of SpongeBob's very, very, very large cast. #4: The Krusty Train (by The_Cartoon) - Likely an obscure one to many now, but this was one of my favorite reads on tv.com as a kid, and I eagerly awaited every chapter non-stop. It had great stories, world-building and was just an overall fun ride. It's a shame Cartoon never gave it a proper ending, but oh well. #3: JCMovies (by @JCM ) - I won’t mince words: A good chunk of SBC literatures have aged like shit (which isn’t anyone’s fault really). But this is the one exception that has managed to stand the test of time. JCMovies is hands down one of the funniest creations ever posted on this site and it will never get old to me. I'm glad JCM brought it back for a 5th season and hope to see more whacky adventures. #2: Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy: Unite! (by @terminoob ) - Legit the best superhero spin-off ever posted on SBC or tv.com, imho. If it wasn't for this, I wouldn't have made my own Mermaid Man spin-off and I really appreciate it for that influence. #1: Spin-Off Action (by @Clappy ) - The original Total Drama of SBC and much like UWS was for me later on, this was my original jam, hands down. On tv.com, this was what I legit looked forward to on a daily basis. Clap made a great crossover series that paid respect to spin-offs of the time. Even if the revivals never panned out, I'm happy I still have the original to look back at in the future. That's all for now, see ya. 7 3 1
Clappy
I think most of the revivals were due to feeling reinvigorated by Total Drama again. Only to lose interest in them when I realized how much work I'd put in to each and every pilot to make it excellent. But thank you so much for remembering the good ole days of Spin-off Action. Determined to someday find the old stuff on the tv.com archives and share them again. Someday. Happy 10 years man! So proud of you for everything that you do for this site. Love ya man.
Old Man Jenkins
I appreciate the lit shout out, mang! I really hope the conclusion won't disappoint. Congrats on 10 years! Takes hella dedication to continue doing all that you've been doing for a full decade now, much respect. You've been one of my closest friends here since I started and I'll always cherish all the memories, as well as convos both past and present. You've helped push me as a fellow writer and you were a big reason that my spark flared back up for Skodwarde. You even welcomed me back into the fold for its final season to help give it a proper sendoff, which made for some of my personal favorite outputs throughout the last year, and for that I give you my sincerest thanks and gratitude. You really are the glue that helps keep this place and everyone together. Can't imagine any version of SBC without ya! Much love, braddah.

TJ
I know I said it earlier, but once more, I wish you a happy 10th! I feel all the moments and events you chose were fitting, and it was fun to see what your top 10 S/O's have been (much love for the TS shoutout). I just have to say that you've been such a wonderful friend to me over these years, and like OMJ said above, it's hard - no impossible - to imagine any version of SBC without you. You're the rock that holds this community together, through your invaluable leadership and untradeable friendship. When you look back on your decade here, I hope that you see just as we all do that it's been one of camaraderie, hard work, and passion. Love you <3.
Katniss
OMJ is right, SBC definitely wouldn’t be the same without you. Throughout the ups and downs you’ve been a great leader, but you’re also super chill and approachable. (And you influenced me to check out She-Ra so thanks ) Happy decade, dude.

Rebel the Wolfgirl
jj my dude, congrats on 10 years. You were one of my first friends here when I joined SBC literally a day or two after my HS graduation. You were the one to support me starting on Power Rangers: Multiverse Force, and ultimately the one to get my spark going for it again. Even in my worst moments, you never gave up on me. Thank you.
