ok, i'm just gonna say this about the roseanne controversy, speaking as a right-wing libertarian:
i myself don't exactly care for obama (or just politics in general, tbh), but i wouldn't outright say one of his advisers was "a cross between the muslim brotherhood and planet of the apes". that's just going too far. i don't care if it was a joke or not, roseanne. you should have some sort of standard.

There's no denying that comedy is based on offending someone in some way. But you have to:
a) know exactly who you want to offend and why
b) put time and effort into a joke if you're going to offend said person effectively
c) know exactly what you're doing, how you're doing it, and knowing your limits.
Roseanne did none of that. Her "joke" was the lowest-effort comedy I've ever seen. It wasn't funny, had no time or effort put into it, and was just offensive for the sake of being offensive.
"Political correctness is the death of comedy", says Mel Brooks. And I do agree on that. But this isn't a case of political correctness gone mad, or "MUH FREE SPEECH IS BEING CENSORED BY TEH SJWs!!!111!!!!1111!!!!". It's a case of a has-been woman trying to stay relevant and failing horribly.
