More specific details are on TV Tropes on "Signature Style." Of course, if you're reading something that lies within a story-arc, includes mechas, has one or more badass characters, and has heavy reliance with fighting scenes and OC's, then congratulations, you're reading a Steel Sponge Spin-off/Lit.
