Karen Posted August 23, 2011 Share Posted August 23, 2011 Opinions are allowed. Thinking an episode is bad because you do not enjoy it is perfectly fine. However there are times when episodes are hated for a reason besides the episode quality itself. Sometimes it's because people don't understand the message or joke, other times it's just because of how the network hyped up the episode. So here it is, the thread where you list episodes you fell people simply don't like because of a reasons other than the episode content itself. Maybe I'll list all the examples, or maybe there's many more. Fear of a Krabby Patty - Because it was the first episode that aired in the "jumped the shark" era, many people dismiss it as the beginning of the end. However it is actually a really, really funny episode. If it had aired in say, the middle of Season 4, it would have likely have recieved acclaim for being an episode that had pre-movie quality. Karate Island - It was voted Number One in the BDE Countdown. GET OVER IT! This episode seriously gets hated because it's not actually the best episode ever. Wow. spongebobiscool Posted August 23, 2011 Share Posted August 23, 2011 SpongeHenge - My worse episode that makes me want to burn it , not funny , and the song by the jellyfish was annoying and had a sad ending which made the bikini bottom destroy , pretending that's not happening at the ending cuz that would of been the end of Spongebob. Building a giant statue of SpongeBob and burning it to the ground followed by stomping on its ashes? SpongeBob being bashed on his own show, who would've thought? Err...not what the thread is about. Actually close to the exact opposite... This is where you post episodes that you feel are hated for unjust reasons, often an external factor. Also not an underrated episode thread, since rating is just everyone's opinion, this is about essential facts that you know changed people's opinion in a negative mannor besides episode quality. The Squidward abuse is hilarious, and the conch is just as hilarious. So there. I'm not even going to get into how Club SpongeBob gets NO NO NO NO hate and how it's the most overrated thing ever. Could I just ask something. Name some hillarious Squidward abuse and Conch moments. Seriously, if they can make me laugh I'll take back what I've said about this episode. It's not a spectacular episodes but it's not below average at all. There's been much more severe Squidward abuse. The Splinter - IT'S SO GROSS EVEN THOUGH IT'S A CARTOON. /sarcasm Seriously, this episode can be boring to me... but not gross. It's a cartoon. Not a great plot but it's kind of entertaining. Good Neighbors - I think this episode is funny. I do not understand the extreme hate it gets even slightly. SpongeBob BC - I love this episode and it's always ranked so low and I do not understand. I feel like a comment on everything Club SpongeBob related, honestly here's the last one, and in this case I'm not really opposing. First off could ya tell me who dislikes it a lot? I'm being 100% serious, PM me names, cause I genuinely wanna have a conversation with someone who dislikes it. As for me, I don't think it's honestly a bad episode despite what I say. I do believe it's quite below average for Season 3 quality, but by the entire show's standards it's fairly good. What makes me have so much distain towards it is because how overrated it is. It is CONSTANTLY put up with some of the all-time greatest episodes lists. Look at Discussion threads for it. Constant 10/10 ratings, people love it. TV.com had it rated 9/10 last time I checked, and My Pretty Seahorse certainly didn't boast the ratings THAT high. Many consider it one of the greatest of all-time, I remember when Nick did another Top episode list online half the people I saw had Club SpongeBob on their Top 10, and I KNOW that's only because it's a very well know episode from the classic days. People assume Season 3 SpongeBob/Patrick/Squidward is gold, people assume the Conch was a hillariously used episode theme. Both had potential, but neither were handled well IMO. As for the Squid abuse, I'm not offended by any Squidward abuse besides Good Neighbors, but it's SUCH a double standard that the Squidward abuse here is given a pass while post-movie abuse is despised. The Camping Episode does Squidward abuse brilliantly. Club SpongeBob just does not. It's not better than the typical post-movie stuff people bash to pieces. I don't like SpongeBob slash at all, but I thought this episode was freaking hilarious. Not the best, but hilarious. When a slash hater watched that episode, all they see in it is the ''I love you'' quote and hate it immediately. Same thing goes for the ''I LIKE Squidward'' thing in 20,000 Patties Under the Sea. So let me try again... To Love a Patty: A lot of people hate this because of SpongeBob falling in love with a krabby patty. Which admittedly is pretty weird, but it sort of fits SpongeBob's character. I didn't think this episode was that bad other than the part with SpongeBob killing the scallops and that part at the end. It's animation. Maybe on Family Guy or South Park or something, but with fish in a children's show that has Nickelodeon-level restrictions, no it's not gross at all. I think all three of these episodes are some of my favorite post movie SpongeBob episodes. Anywho, Squidward abuse has to be the most overused reason to hate an episode on any SpongeBob site. If you are a Squidward fan, then lighten up and actually watch the episodes and don't keep track of all that bad stuff that happens to Squidward. There is witty writing and these episodes are actually pretty funny. Judging an episode and whining about how much Squidward gets wronged is just silly if you ask me. Even though I hate one of those episodes, I still agree. It's insane how upset people get because something bad happens to Squidward. Seriously, do people really love him that much that nothing bad can happen to him? HE'S A CARTOON ANIMAL! That's like saying the Roadrunner/Coyote cartoons suck because the Coyote always loses. It's a part of his character, he's a loveable loser. If you call yourself a Squidward fan but don't like Squid abuse, you're not a fan of his, because that has been a major part of his character since the episode "Reef Blowers". Of course I don't even need to bring up the MASSIVE double standard of how everyone is perfectly fine with Squid abuse pre-season. P.S. I dislike Good Neighbors for many other reasons that Squidward abuse, that's one of the smallest reasons I consider it the worst ever made.
