Popular Post Clappy
.....oh hey thread. I think it's time I finally utilize you. So I think I decided how I’m going to handle this thread. I’m going to review television episodes of shows instead of the entire series. With that in mind, what’s going to be my first victim? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4TFgRkH2BE Oh boy… Ok for the record, I don’t particularly hate Dan Schneider shows. They have always been a massive guilty pleasure of mine despite how high on a pedestal they are put and how similar a majority of them are from each other. Granted not all of them I would consider good, I actually like more than half of Dan Schneider’s library. Including my first victim of my review thread, iCarly. Yes, I like iCarly...somewhat. The first season was easily the best season of the entire series so of course the rest of the show, at least to me, fell from that high peaking point in terms of quality. At least the second and third season were still respectable. It wasn’t until Season 4 onward when the quality levels started to drop drastically forcing that Seddie shipping for multiple episodes, ridiculously dumbing down Gibby, making their characters even more shallow, and so many more problems that I might have to tackle another iCarly episode somewhere down the line. But today, I want to tackle probably my least favorite episode of the entire series and quite possibly one of the worst episodes of anything Dan Schneider ever created. Yes, I am reviewing infamous iCarly atrocity: iMEET FRED So the plot begins with the web show within a web show that rarely gets a proper amount of episode time at times. Carly and Sam are watching Fred videos…. Clappy: Whoa whoa hold up. Shouldn’t iCarly be concerned about internet copyright laws? I mean hell, Viacom always enjoys taking down any sort of content, so this ridiculous double standard is annoying as fuck. Boy I enjoy finding new things to hate about this episode. I get that they need to introduce Fred into this plot somehow, but this is really forced. After Carly and Sam ass kiss the ground Fred walks on, Freddie offends international internet sensation, Fred, by stating his opinion after being asked about it that he does not think that the Fred videos are funny. Clappy: Got it guys? Freddie was asked his own personal opinion and politely gave it. I know those of you who have seen this knows where this is going, but to those of you who haven’t, just save this for a few seconds later. The next day, Fred is crushed and tells all of his fans that he will not make any more Fred videos. Carly, Sam and Freddie soon start to lose friends who are fans of Fred. It looks as if everybody at Ridgeway turns on the iCarly group. Freddie even unfairly gets banned from all of his clubs, shoved to the ground, harassed constantly, and beaten up on. Clappy: I just went ahead and summarized all of this into one grouping because that paragraph summarizes at least a third of this episode. I can’t emphasize enough that most of this attacking happens to Freddie. This is where most of my hatred and others lies for this episode. It’s the constant amounts of bullying that is portrayed for laughs that just disgusts me. Freddie often gets treated as the whipping boy for a majority of this series and I get that each series tends to have one of these characters. Hell, it’s a requirement for Dan Schneider shows that one of the main cast has to be the butt of physical abuse. But here, it’s just ridiculous amounts of mean spirited. Cyberbullying is a legitimate issue especially in the present where it happens far too often whether it be on social media, internet forums, comment sections, etc. I’ve seen some pretty harsh incidents of this myself over my ten years of internet going and while I’m not going to explain these instances word for word, it really needs to stop. What they do here is promote it for laughs, laugh track played heavily might I add, by making Freddie’s life an absolute hell because he voiced his opinion in such a mature fashion after being prompted to answer a simple question. Carly and Sam should know this and respect it. Yet, all they care about is their ratings plummeting and harass Freddie themselves verbally in Carly’s case or both in Sam’s case. What a bunch of iBitches. Also, what we learn in the episode later aside about Fred’s news, Lucas Cruikshank often gets intense amounts of hatred on the internet. What the hell is his concern if one person hates his show? I don’t have much of an internet following for my content material since I keep myself excluded to a SpongeBob forum, but the Fred videos has….or at least had….a massive following. He should be well aware of the repercussions when you promote actions like these. Especially since his following is mostly of younger kids. Younger kids and intense fans in general, tend to overreact in situations like these by harassing the person who caused the harm. Lucas should have known that this would happen to Freddie, so even if this was all in the bigger scheme of things, he should have at least let the iCarly gang know of this as soon as he did this publicity stunt. Because it makes Lucas off to become an egotistical asshole and that’s not what you should be doing to someone we are supposed to like in this episode. Oh yeah there’s a subplot in this trainwreck. Spencer puts a Magic Meatball in control of his life, with “hilarious” results. It first predicts his phone won't ring for the next five seconds. He is told to drink ketchup when he was thirsty, to go surfing when he was tired, not to accept an offer to display his sculptures and to buy an ostrich named Marvin. Clappy: This subplot has been done to death in many shows that it’s not even worth my time to give it the proper critiquing. I will say that other shows have done this plot a lot better. What iCarly does here is just off the wall sorts of random that we are supposed to laugh because it’s random. It’s not. Dan Schneider shows in general tend to go for complete utter randomness for laughs. It’s predictable in this case here….let’s just go back to the disaster of a main plot. The iCarly gang travel to meet Lucas Cruikshank at his home in Idaho, so Freddie can apologize for his comments about the Fred videos. Lucas later apologizes, saying he wasn't really mad. He reveals that the so-called "feud" between Fred and iCarly was a plot he set up to get both the iCarly webshow and his Fred videos bigger ratings. Clappy: As I’ve already stated previously, this whole concept is just ridiculous to start with. Also, what exactly does Freddie have to apologize for? Voicing his opinion in a mature fashion? Sorry that your butt hurt Lucas, but you’ll get over it. Yet the only person Lucas actually apologizes to is just Carly. Yeah Carly got harassed, but nowhere near the amount of levels that Freddie experienced. Hell, Lucas should have known that especially after what Sam does to Freddie in the tree house that makes me want to watch Sam get some sort of repercussion for her instances of being a loathsome character. Also, when I see this sort of concept executed, it usually results in an increase of viewership for only one show, not both. Maybe someone knows of an occasion that this works for both parties, but more often than not, this only works for one party. At the end of next iCarly webcast, they all make up on camera. They present a new Fred video where Carly, Sam, Freddie and Spencer guest star as themselves with squeaky, high-pitched voices like Fred. Clappy: Yes because let’s lower ourselves to the lowest common denominator of our guest star who has been nothing but a brat this entire episode. I hate this episode so much. iMeet Fred is just an epic disaster that is often regarded as one of the worst episodes of the entire series and it’s easy to see why. Just way too much mean-spirited humor and such incredibly poor writing. This was the episode that made me give up on iCarly for a while as I stopped watching this series. But that was a stupid decision on my part as I watched more of Season 2 iCarly and I missed out on some real gems from this season. It’s a prime example of not letting a single episode be what holds back an entire season. Let an entire storyline do that instead:
BoJack Horseman
First tv.com, then Pieguyrulz, then you Clappy. You all did a terrific job at tearing this episode apart. Thank goodness, I haven't even seen the episode because I would be so angry. This is definetly an episode that deserves hatrid because it's so offensive and disrespectful. Sounds like it's written by Family Guy writers. One of fhe worst Can't wait for other reviews of yours.

It's just a matter as to how long it takes for me to get to it or to find it. Only things I refuse to review are intentionally bad weird things like what Bubblerock requested a few posts ago.

I'd love for you to review an episode of The Nutshack to tear that shit up, but I guess that ties in with "bad weird things" even though it wasn't intentional. For the Nutshack, I recommend either the pilot, or for the really bad episodes, 420 or Blackapino (Especially Blackapino, that's one of the worst episodes I've seen from any episodes ever.) but besides that, I'd love to see you take on controversial episodes of different shows. And anime I guess, if you're in to that stuff (I'm guessing you're not, you don't seem like that kind of guy.)
