  1. Honestly, I'd argue that Supreme: The Ivory Icon is...basically an apology for PR: MVF's second season, in the same way Moore's Supreme run was basically his apology for his '80s work, especially Watchmen.

I personally liked "Watchmen" as an interesting deconstruction of various superhero genre tropes...although I DO find it interesting that the only adaptation of "Watchmen" (besides the actual graphic novel) that Alan Moore DOES approve of, is the INTENTIONALLY badly made, late 1980's animated series version, which takes SEVERAL liberties with it's story source!

Watchmen is honestly the only superhero deconstruction I like for one reason: it's still idealistic in the end, but not an optimistic story. And in the end, it's still very much a superhero story (especially with Rorschach still sticking to his uncompromising views in spite of the fact that up until then, doing so was shown to be a bad thing for him).

      No arguments there.

  2. I'm honestly glad I returned to SBC and decided to start working on a lit again, I haven't felt this creatively invigorated in a while

  3. Tricky Dick's got some lick to smoke, so prop me up if you please~

  4. Hey, guys - apologies for not being here so long; just been busy with trying to figure out Cakewalk so my music can take off.

      4EverGreen

Well, I'm just glad you're all right. And if you ever plan to take off for seven months again, could you at least give us a two week warning, so we'll know you're just taking a break? Please and thank you in advance!

  5. So I'm finally returning on a more permanent basis.

      Well, welcome back!

  6. new year's resolutions:

-do devotional journals for my pantheon (yup, i'm a hellenic polytheist again)

-actually get all my writing/music projects started

-get my personal hygiene in check

-start a shift away from anarchist politics on my twitter

    -Start my podcast

-exercise and spend time with family more

  7. I have an idea on how I'd want the Renegade the Unicorn and the Triple Sicks' album (provisionally titled "...In Whore-ifying 36D!") to be produced: similarly to the Beatles' famous sessions for Please Please Me; that is, recorded live, with as few takes and little to no overdubbing as possible.

  8. If my music career doesn't work out, I can always make a career in writing what's called "bizarro fiction". It's the literary equivalent to a "cult film" section at the video store - some are goofy, some are trashy exploitative shlock, some is incomprehensible "highbrow art"...it's subversive, it's weird (hence the name), and it's absolutely *perfect*. I have always had a fascination with B-movies and exploitation films since middle school (something I must've inherited from my dad; he loved those kinds of things), and after all these years, that might be the niche I've been looking for when it comes to making a career as an author.

  9. I think I'm gonna release all the music I make under a Creative Commons-BY-SA license. Because fuck copyright and intellectual property - no way in hell am I restricting my art from the people for money.

  10. So, I'm finally buckling down and taking the first steps to getting my music career on track: I'm intending to start teaching myself music theory and have discussed forming a band with some Twitter friends; I've decided we're calling ourselves "Renegade the Unicorn and the Triple Sicks".

This isn't exactly a big accomplishment that's worthy of SBC, but I'm just so excited that I'm taking this initiative to achieving a dream I've had for years - to play music in the styles I grew up with (hardcore punk, metal, and psychobilly).

  11. Now that I no longer have to worry about things in my personal life, I can FINALLY finish "Yes, Destiny".

Narrator: During the winter, they were snowbound, and had to eat brave Sir Robin's Minstrels, and there was much rejoicing." Knight of the Round Table, LESS of a flat joy: "Yeah!"

I've got another fun quote by John Lennon: "I told you about the walrus and me, man! You know we're just as hip as can be, man! Well, here's another clue for you all; the walrus was Paul!" :hysterical: From the song "Glass Onion", 1968, "The White Album".

Is that from the Web Series, "Llamas With Hats"? And the only reason I even KNOW about that, is because I have a friend who has watched it, and has talked about it.

  15. It I were to ever write my own fanmake for @4EverGreen 's One Shot Stories (or even for my Riting Revue), it'd be one for "Joker", starring Daffy Duck in the title role.

I heard good things about it, so if I do, I'll let people know on the "What Did You Last Watch?" Movie Topic.

  17. Guys...I wanna come clean about why I was actually leaving SBC in the first place. Yes, I don't use the site much anymore; and yes, I feel I've grown apart from the community. But that was only half of the truth. See, the actual reason I left was over a public calling out towards @President Squidward for what I felt were, to put it politely, contrarian and hypocritical viewpoints on animation.

...Unfortunately, I also got @HawkbitAlpha and his close friend Omni involved; suffice to say, both were pissed, the latter moreso. So rather than own up to my idiocy (as I should've done then and as I'm doing now), I pulled a Metal -level power move and turned tail to avoid a potential shitstorm like a fucking coward.

That was beyond wrong of me, and I likely not only ended up hurting Prez (who, in spite of our differing viewpoints and occassionally contrasting attitudes, has been nothing but nice to me), but @4EverGreen and @Inanimate Carbon Rod as well; they're two of my closest friends on this site, and in only looking out for myself, I abandoned them like a cruel bastard.

So now what? Well, after some thought about it, I've decided to take the high ground and come back (even if I won't be as active as I was). That's the best thing to do anyway, isn't it? To confront your own mistakes instead of running away from them? So I'm asking @jjsthekid to bring back my lits from DJL, and 4EG and I will get back into the swing of things with PR: MVF.

If one reason you were contemplating leaving was over what appeared to me to be nothing more than a fight with a few people on Discord, you could've told us so before and I would've advised you that leaving or taking a break wouldn't have been the best thing to do in moving past those mistakes right afterwards. The whole bit on ditching SBC to migrate to MLPForums felt like a Metal move only in the sense that he's migrated to that same place since his debacle a couple years back, but while he burned bridges in all the wrong ways, you came back here to confess your mistakes and admitting that you're trying to own up to them, which is far from reminiscent of Luke and so I appreciate that about you.

It's nice that you decided to come back, and I will try to get something written up for you to read soon.

So awesome that you've decided to come back, RTU! I confess to not being much of a friend before, but hopefully, I'll be a better one here on out.

  18. So, I know that I said I was leaving SBC, but I want to say one last thing before I leave you all behind me.

I'm bequeathing PR: MVF to @4EverGreen, and allowing @jjsthekid and @Steel Sponge ownership of the rest of my works for archival purposes/to use as they see fit. That is all. Thank you guys for the last 4 years or so. It's been wild.

  19. I've already said this on Discord, but I'll announce it here too: I'm leaving SBC. I barely use the site anymore, and I've honestly just grown apart from the community as a whole. I have nothing against anyone here personally, it's just time for me to move on. If you want to keep in contact with me, my Discord and Twitter info are in my profile; I'll also be on MLP Forums for anyone who's also part of that site.

  20. Fun fact: it was actually George Harrison and his experiences that led to my conversion to Discordianism; he (like myself) was spiritual, but felt disillusioned with the dogma and hypocrisy of organized religion. So, he became Hindu. It was my own experiences reading the Principia Discordia and The Book of Eris that opened my eyes to a faith that, while having the same core message of all religions (Respecting and honoring your fellow man), didn't take itself seriously for the most part and encouraged freedom of thought rather blatantly in its pages...when it wasn't having a laugh, if course. Most of the time, though, it was usually both.

  21. You and I have WAAAY too similar music taste, it's scary.

    1. 4EverGreen

      4EverGreen

I assure you, ANY similar musical tastes between you and me is purely ACCIDENTAL! I partially attribute my tastes to the fact that I am older, so I HAVE had more time to experience more music! In any case, working on a new "Total Cartoon Island Strikes Back" episode (FINALLY!) I'll try to get it done as soon as possible! Enough said!

  22. How would you guys feel if I started publishing my first nonfiction work (The Godspell According to Renegade, or How I Found Disenlightenment Through Postmodern Zen Buddhism) here on SBC?

    1. 4EverGreen

      4EverGreen

I wouldn't mind. I say go for it if you really want to.
