Favorite movie genres?

I don't count animation as genre because it's more of a style over a genre because you can make a sci-fi animated movie or a comedy animated movie, just saying.

Action/adventure and sci-fi are by far my favorite genre. Action/adventure movies gave me excitement, while sci-fi movies looks cool and makes me think. Recently tho, I have been obsessed over horror movies. I know a lot people dislike this genre either because it's so scary or a lot of horror movies are cliched jumpscares but when it's done right, I love the suspense of horror movies and it makes me closer to characters, If I was in those situations. Not every good horror movies are scary tho (classic horror movies don't really scare me) but I still love their suspense and darkness. Comedy is another genre I love because I love to get laugh and it makes me happy. I'm not really into drama/thriller type movies but I've seen a few like Unbreakable, The Gift and Whiplash and they were really well done drama/triller movies. Can't say much about musicals because I haven't seen a musical flm but I love music, so I can love a musical. Romance is my least favorite becuase I really don't care about romance, it's sweet and all but love stories don't do much for me, except romance in tv series (no, not Turkish tv series) gets me a little, if it's a side story. Is there any genre I forget, let me know ;)

While every genre has it's perks, I love comedies the best just because I love to laugh.  But I also consider my other favorites to be action, animation, drama, musicals, and since it's technically a genre now to me, superheroes.

Seconding Steel. Animation isn't a genre, it's an art form, though there's plenty of different types of animation.

Personally, stuff I like...horror (psychological especially), splatter/gore stuff, samurai/chambara stuff, neo-noir (I still need to get into classic film noir...), spaghetti westerns, exploitation (the nastier and less ironically played, the better), crime/gangster stuff, blaxploitation, erotica (Japanese pink film and stuff that crosses over with horror esp, bondage & S&M too), artistically credible pornography (stuff like Nightdreams), giallo, slashers (mostly the classics, newer stuff is hit and miss and I hate CGI effects), surrealism (especially surrealist horror like, say, Eraserhead and Santa Sangre), a good mystery/psychological thriller, all cyberpunk shit (no matter how bad, if it's got that aesthetic i'm immediately erect, high tech low life junkie), mindfuck sci-fi, dystopian/post-apocalyptic stuff, drug movies (either about the business or users), morbid reality stuff (like Faces of Death), dark comedy/satire (especially if it's played straight-faced). As far as animation goes, i'm mostly partial to darker and more serious stuff, as opposed to light-hearted Disney/Pixar fare. My favorite animated movie is Heavy Traffic, to give you an idea. Same goes with anime, really.

Animation, even though it's technically an art form. The problem is that the better known animated films are family friendly and/or comedies, so the general audience isn't aware there's a lot more to animation than that.

Besides that, mostly just big tentpole films such as Star Wars or Marvel movies.
