The 100 Greatest Video Games of All Time!

Folks, you've waited a long time for this. And, to close 2016 on at least a GOOD note, I have decided to compile the 100 GREATEST Video Games that have EVER been made for video game systems EVER! Here is how this list works; games that I have played and beaten, and ONLY games that I have played and beaten, make it to this list. NO EXCEPTIONS! So I did my research, compiled the findings, and now the results are in. But just so you don't think that I am purposely leaving any games out, here's a quick look at the top ten games that didn't QUITE make the list! Here's #110-101!

110. “Nicktoons: Battle For Volcano Island” 2006 Game Boy Advance. / 109. “Crash Bandicoot: The Huge Adventure” 2002 Game Boy Advance. / 108. “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone” 2001 Game Boy Advance. / 107. “Spyro Orange: The Cortex Conspiracy” 2004 Game Boy Advance. / 106. “Dragonball Z: The Legacy of Goku” 2002 Game Boy Advance. / 105. “Crash Bandicoot: Ripto's Rampage” 2004 Game Boy Advance. / 104. “Rayman: Raving Rabbids” 2006 Game Boy Advance. / 103. “Star Fox” 1993 Super NES. / 102. “Spyro: Season of Ice” 2001 Game Boy Advance. / 101. “The Incredible Hulk” 1994 Super NES and Genesis, and 2004 Game Boy Advance. /

Now, to start off this list properly, no video game list about the 100 greatest video games of all time would be complete, without the very FIRST video game, that started it all.

100. “Pong” 1972 Arcade and Magnavox Odyssey, 1999 Game Boy Color, 2005 Game Boy Advance. Video games might have come a LONG way since this black and white number first turned heads on November 29, 1972, but video games wouldn't even EXIST if this game hadn't started it all! The concept is simple; either against a computer A.I. Or another player, you must keep the ball in play, and don't let it go off your side of the screen. While there aren't a lot of pixels to speak of, and the graphics are primitive, the core concept of video games is present in this game. And the video game owes everything it is to this humble little game, who had it's BIGGEST moment appearing in the cult classic 1973 movie “Soylent Green!” Video Game score: 1/100.

99. “F-Zero: Maximum Velocity” 2001 Game Boy Advance, 2013 Wii U Virtual Console. What's fast, furious, and fits right in the palms of your hands? If you said this official sequel, set 30 years after the original 1991 Super NES “F-Zero,” you would be on the right track! It features exciting tracks, great music, good sound, controls, solid graphics, and fast challenge from the ORIGINAL "F-Zero," game, shrunken to fit onto a Game Boy Advance. While there haven't been any significant new “F-Zero” games since 2004, that might very well change with the Nintendo Switch on the horizon. Until then, this is always a good game to carry in your back pocket! Video Game score: 1/50.

98. “Spyro 2: Season of Flame” 2002 Game Boy Advance, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. Spyro's first outing on the Game Boy Advance was both a financial and critical success, but what's even MORE impressive is that "Spyro 2" managed to IMPROVE upon the already successful formula of the Game Boy Advance "Spyro" games, by making this game even BIGGER and MORE fun than its predecessor! The same awesome control and variety of challenges are better than ever, and great sound, music, graphics, and overall difficulty are also present in this game as well! While this game was Spyro's most financially successful on the Game Boy Advance, I found one "Spyro" game to be even better! Video Game score: 3/100.

97. “Super Mario World Two: Yoshi's Island/Super Mario Advance Three: Yoshi's Island” 1995 Super NES, 2003 Game Boy Advance, 2013 Wii U Virtual Console, 2016 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. By 1995 everyone thought that 16 bit video game systems had hit their PEAK of power and creativity, the Sega CD was LONG dead, the Sega 32X BARELY got any games out of the park, the Sega Genesis was on its last legs, and Saturn didn't look too promising in its ability to turn Sega's fortunes into good ones. But the biggest threat to the 16 bit system was the rise of the 32 bit system generation. The Neo Geo System, the 3DO System, and the Atari Jaguar System, all thought that they would have the biggest share of the 32 bit market, but they could not have expected the arrival of the Sony Playstation, and it's HUGE marketing blitz! By flooding the ZONE with a TON of video games, it was almost IMPOSSIBLE for any video game system to compete with them! No video game company could release anywhere NEAR the amount of video games that Sony was releasing, and inevitably, all of Sony's rivals fell by the wayside. But the Super NES proved to be a LOT tougher than its supposedly 'superior' rivals, and the Super NES had not run out of tricks to show off, yet! With the power of the SFX2 chip, utilized in this game as well as “Chrono Trigger,” the Nintendo Super NES could hold its own, even against the power of the Sony Playstation! Although this might be called a “Mario” game, this actually marks the start of Yoshi's own video game franchise. The game plot might be simple, rescuing Baby Luigi from Baby Bowser, but the challenge makes it anything BUT! Of course, with the gorgeous graphics and cute sound effects/music, it is certainly one fun adventure! If you want to check out a version of this game, check out the Game Boy Advance version, it has extra stages that the Super NES version doesn't! Video Game Score: 2/50.

96. “River City Ransom EX” 2002 Game Boy Advance, 2013 Wii U Virtual Console. Some games take a LOT longer than others to get popular recognition. Take "River City Ransom EX" for example. Although the game had already been released 12 years prior on the NES, the game only had OKAY sound, music, control, graphics, and challenge. Such a game might not seem to have a place in the 32 bit market. But Nintendo proved that "River City Ransom" just needed to wait for the RIGHT video game system to TRULY make an impact! Although its basically the same script and story from the original NES game, the execution is pulled off a lot better! Thankfully, the AWESOMELY bad original translations of the Japaneese text are still left intact; making it cheesy, but in a very GOOD way! The sound, music, control, graphics, and challenge are MILES better on the GBA than they were on the NES, and there are a variety of ways one can get through this game! Oddly enough though, this game has YET to receive a PROPER sequel! So far, the only other "River City Ransom" games available are sporting ventures on the Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, and the Nintendo 3DS. The arrival of the Nintendo Switch, might change things, though. Only time will tell! Video Game Score: 5/100.

95. “Contra 4” 2008 Nintendo DS, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. When you're asked to come up with a list of games that cause you to rage quit, one of the video game series on top of ANY of those lists is the "Contra" video game series! In fact, "Contra III" was SO hard, it took Konami SEVENTEEN years to come up with a video game that could TOP the difficulty in "Contra III!" I cannot STRESS enough how difficult this game is; not that hard, not that HARD, not THAT HARD...super, duper, extensive, uber, freaking, mega ULTRA HARD!!!!!!! And that's just the NORMAL difficulty level! Don't even ASK about the HARD difficulty level, that's the equivalency of video game SUICIDE! It's a good video game, graphically, control-wise, with good sound and music, but the difficulty may be too MUCH for beginners! But as a nice bonus, the original "Contra" and "Super C" for the NES can be unlocked in this game as well. If you're feeling super-confidant in your abilities, put yourself to the ultimate test with THIS game! Video Game score: 3/50.

94. “Mario Party DS” 2010 Nintendo DS, 2015 Wii U Virtual Console. If you're looking for a portable-sized party experience, this Nintendo DS version is fun! It's ACTUALLY fun! It's possible to play as eight different characters; Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Toad, Daisy, Wario, and Waluigi. There are six different board games to play on, and over three dozen different mini-games available for the playing! In addition to the returning solo mini-games, duel mini-games, two vs. two mini-games, one vs. three mini-games, and free for all mini-games, there's a brand new boss duel mini-game for the winner of each party board! Whoever beats the boss representative of each board will be declared the true superstar of each board! And there's an incentive to win, besides bragging rights. There are many different types of badges to win as well, that are obtained whenever different objectives are meant, and it's possible to play wireless with four different people at the same time! The only reason this game doesn't get ranked higher, is that all game-play is only limited to ten rounds of play for each board, so there's not as much time to ratchet up stars in coins as there are in other installments, but you've got to give it to Nintendo for crafting a SOLID, portable "Mario Party" experience! Video Game score: 7/100.

93. “Spyro: Attack of the Rhynocs” 2003 Game Boy Advance, 2015 Wii U Virtual Console. In terms of a successful franchise, Vivendi Universal had their hands on one when it came to Spyro! And they wanted to keep it going for as long as possible. Spyro's third outing on the Game Boy Advance, while not as financially successful as the second outing, was more loved by critics than the first or the second one. Spyro's old nemesis, Ripto, is at it again, causing mayhem in the Dragon Realm! Spyro will once again have to trek through many different environments, lay the smackdown on several of Ripto's lackey goons, learn new skills, and eventually battle against the evil Ripto himself! Spyro also learns a couple of new tricks; he can now blow bubbles and water, swim, and protect himself with an electric charge from his horns! Perhaps someday, when the "Skylanders" craze dies down, Spyro can be brought back to focus on a brand new, fun adventure again. Video Game score: 4/50.

92. “Hook” 1992 Super NES and Genesis. Sometimes, through complete ACCIDENT or sheer luck, a video game BASED on a movie can end up actually being BETTER than the actual movie! One such example is the video game based on Steven Spielberg's version of "Peter Pan" called "Hook." Unlike the movie, which only covers a SMALL portion of Neverland and only features a SMALL amount of fighting, this game has a grown-up Peter Pan regaining his ability to fly, and fighting with a small dagger (at first). After beating the first boss, Rufio, Pan will be able to fight against pirates with a REAL sword, but only as LONG as he doesn't get hit! Although there are TWO different paths towards getting towards the final stage, players who choose to take the higher, HARDER path first, will STILL be able to do the easier, lower path for a complete game play! The graphics, music, and control are top notch for the SNES, and it all culminates with a final battle against Hook, when Pan seeks VENGEANCE against the crooked pirate for his CRUEL murder of Rufio! It is a surprisingly compelling video game! Video Game score: 9/100.

91. “Frogger's Journey: The Forgotten Relic” 2006 Game Boy Advance, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. In terms of video game icons, Frogger has been around for a long time. One of the first recognizable mascots to debut in arcades in 1980, there were a lot of people thinking that Frogger's hopping and jumping skills had no place among the big boys of the Game Boy Advance, but as it turns out, he did! Frogger's fourth, final, and most financially and CRITICALLY successful of the Game Boy Advance "Frogger" games, is also one of Frogger's best overall! Namco found a way to make the old, new again, and they add several new tricks to Frogger's wide range of moves, with the help of a sentient machine called O.P.A.R.T. A nice puzzler game, it also has a pretty good story that would seem right at home on an R.P.G. But seeing as how the game isn't even 12 years old yet, I'm not going to spoil it for anyone. Needless to say, the graphics, sound, music, control, and overall challenge are very great in Frogger's best outing on the Game Boy Advance, and one of his best game outings overall! And yet, there are STILL 90 video games that are BETTER than THIS one! Read on to find out which ones! Video Game score: 1/10.

90. “Rayman Advance” 2001 Game Boy Advance, 2007 Nintendo DSI download game, 2013 Wii U Virtual Console. The limbless wonder made his triumphant debut on the Game Boy Advance in this game, in the VERY first month of the Game Boy Advance's availability! While the game has been available in some form since 1995 as "Rayman," it is the version available on the Game Boy Advance that has proven to be the best available as a physical game! With awesome sound, music, controls, challenge, and even BETTER graphics than the Playstation or the Atari Jaguar (plus no annoying loading times), "Rayman Advance" is the definitive version of the original "Rayman" game, and a good way to get started on "Rayman" games in general! See just how good the original is, by playing it! Video Game score: 11/100.

89. “Mega Man Zero Collection” 2010 Nintendo DS, 2015 Wii U Virtual Console. Another video game series known for its blistering difficulty are the "Mega Man Zero" video games! Unlike "Contra 4" however, there's actually a brand-new EASY mode for all of the previously released "Mega Man Zero" games that weren't available before. By beating the easy mode for each game, it unlocks bonus content for "Mega Man Zero 3;" e-reader bonuses that the Japanese could access, but was never made available in the states prior! In any case, the same great graphics, music, sound, control, and challenges from the original game are left intact in this video game collection. Although this is a great way to play four games for the price of one, the difficulty of each game is a little un-even from each other, and there's not a lot of additional content available for unlocking. Still it's a good way to play each "Mega Man Zero" game if you didn't play them before on the Game Boy Advance. Video Game score: 12/100.

88. “Boing! Docomodake DS” 2009 Nintendo DS, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. There is DEFINITELY a big gap between the types of games that Japanese people like to play, and the types of games that Americans typically like to play. Usually, Japanese games are quirky, weird, tricky, and tend not to make a lot of sense to the American consumer, so most games designed for the tastes of the Japanese (such as the criminally NON U.S. released "Tingle's Rose Scented Rupeeland"), never make their way to the States. But by some SHEER stroke of luck, this game managed to do what a LOT of Japanese games weren't able to! Not only DID it get released in the states, there was almost NO change in the name of the game's title from Japan to the U.S. The game is a charming, inventive, innovative, unique approach to puzzler games. You control a living mushroom named Papa Docomodake (obviously a Japanese thing) as he searches for members of his family who have suffered several mishaps. There are seven levels to go through, filled with adorable graphics, a touch of humor, solid controls, good music, sounds, and a solid difficulty level! What's unique about the main character, is that he can split himself into smaller, mini Docomodake's, in order to help him solve puzzles. For instance, if Docomodake can't jump high enough to reach someplace, he can split himself into several smaller mushrooms, form a ladder, jump to where he needs to get to, and be able to pull himself together from where he has gotten to! Although the story itself isn't that deep, it doesn't really need to be. The game tells a good story all on its own. The reason why this game doesn't get ranked higher, is because of how obscure it is. Finding a good copy of this game (especially an English copy) isn't easy, but well worth it for consumers looking for something different. Video Game score: 13/100.

87. “Oscar In Toyland” 2010 Nintendo DSI Download Game. Prior to owning a Nintendo 3DS, I had always tended to stay away from playing any original downloadable games. I found the idea of playing a game that I knew absolutely nothing about, that video game magazines gave absolutely NO coverage to, completely foreign to me. But with the library of Nintendo DSi downloadable games completely accessable to me, I decided to take a more personal look. To my sheer luck, I found an original gem! A platformer game that's a great throw-back to the platform games of the 1990's. Oscar is an anthropomorphic animal (although I have no idea what TYPE of animal he is.) In any case, he's a fun loving kid who's on a quest to retrieve toy's modeled after himself, which have been scattered throughout many different levels and stages! The graphics are incredible, the music, sound, controls, and challenge are all very solid, and it never feels like it gets TOO difficult! There are a lot of different temporary power-up abilities available in this game (and even some temporary power DOWN abilities to avoid!) Needless to say, I hadn't seen a game with THAT level of ingenuity and plethora of power-ups available, since the days of Bubsy the Bobcat and Aero the Acrobat. The only reason why this game doesn't get ranked higher, is that the downloadable game series of Oscar (he has three other DSi games besides this one available to play) is that his series is not as recognizable as the other entries on this list. It's definitely a good choice for players who want to try something different, though! Video Game score: 7/50.

86. “Yoshi's Island DS” 2006 Nintendo DS, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. In my mind, I consider this game to be a VAST improvement over its predecessor! Whereas Baby Mario's crying was incessantly LOUD and constant whenver he got hit, the sound of the crying is GREATLY toned down, and isn't as grating as it was in the original! If that wasn't reason enough to like this game, there's the fact that instead of one hero, there are THREE heroes and two anti-villains available to play! Yoshi has to protect Baby Mario, Peach, Donkey Kong, and occasionally Wario, from the forces of evil threatening to abduct them for a nefarious purpose in this game. The graphics, sound, music, controls, and challenge of this game are just as great, if not better than its Super NES/Game Boy Advance predecessor! Depending on the baby any Yoshi has to carry, they can access different places or solve different puzzles that the other babies can't. There are some familiar enemy faces, as well as some brand new ones. But what's REALLY surprising is that Baby Bowser isn't the Big BAD this time around; it's grown-up Bowser from the FUTURE!!!! He's come back in time to do what his younger self can't; take out Mario and his pesky friends BEFORE they can grow up and torment him in his time. But Baby Bowser immediately realizes the flaw in his future self's planning; if Future Bowser succeeds in taking out Mario and his friends NOW; Baby Bowser WON'T grow up to be big and strong like he is in the future! So even Baby Bowser reluctantly agrees to help Mario and his friends out. And yet, as good as this game is, there are 85 other games that manage to be better. But this is STILL a charming game worthy of game-play on a Nintendo DS or 3DS! Video Game score: 3/20.

85. “Mario and Luigi: Partner's In Time” 2005 Nintendo DS, 2015 Wii U Virtual Console. After the success of the original "Mario and Luigi," people were wondering if Alpha Dream could team up and partner with Nintendo again to deliver the same kind of success on the Nintendo DS! Not only did they do it once, they did it twice! The first dual-screened RPG experience for Mario is unique, because it doesn't just feature TWO Mario brothers, it technically features FOUR! An evil alien race called the Shroobs (a species that looks like purple anthropomorphic fungus) are invading the Mushroom Kingdom; not just in the present, but in the past as well! The Shroobs have come for one simple mission, to invade and take over the Mushroom Kingdom, either in the present, or the PAST! Mario & Luigi will have to team up with Toddler versions of themselves in order to take down the many different enemies scattered throughout this game. Items play a bigger role in this game than they did in the last game, as a lot of the combo moves the four Mario brothers use involve using items to defeat the many different enemies located in the various areas of play! Great music, sound, graphics, control, and story line are a given, but it doesn't get ranked higher because there's just not as much self-induced humor at Nintendo's own expense as there are in the other "Mario and Luigi" games, although the Koopa that speaks in Internet text is a nice touch! Still, the first R.P.G. outing for Mario and Luigi on the Nintendo DS is a solid game! Video Game score: 4/25.

84. “E.V.O: Search For Eden” 1993 Super NES, 2015 Wii U Virtual Console. During the 1990's, there were a good number of video games that sought out to create new, unique, video game experiences that had never been tried before, and an attempt to create NEW types of games. One such unique experiment was with "E.V.O.: Search for Eden." The "E.V.O." in the title is short for evolution. Although it is TECHNICALLY possible to PLAY through the game (players start as a fish) and end UP as a human, who would WANT to be a puny human when its possible to end up being a completely radical, fantasy creature that could have POSSIBLY evolved had events played out differently?! Since the company thought that players might be confused about the point of this game without a PROPER explanation to it, the game WISELY includes an Earth Goddess, a spiritual being who helps the evolving creature the player is playing as, through-out the rough spots, provides helpful information at key points in the game, and sometimes give hints of where a player should go next. With a multiple set of MANY different possible animal evolutions to level up to and evolve into, whatever the ultimate creature ends up BEING after facing the FINAL evolutionary boss, is ANYONE'S guess! Video Game score: 17/100.

83. “Super Punch-Out!” 1994 Super NES, 2002 Gamecube (“Punch-Out King” Bonus), 2007 Wii Virtual Console, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console, 2016 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. Despite this game's predecessor not even getting ONTO this list, this game manages to be easier, more relaxing, easier to beat, and much more enjoyable than its predecessor! As is the case with the first "Punch-Out," there are 16 different opponents to fight against in four different circuits. The Minor, the Major, the Champion, and the Special Circuit! Unlike in the original, where each opponent HAD to be beaten in sequential order with NO do-overs, this game is FAR more forgiving, as only the opponents in the circuit that YOU pick need to be beaten in sequential order, and you CAN have do-overs, but only a limited amount! Each opponent has a unique fighting style, which needs to be memorized and exploited in order to fight and hopefully beat each and every one of them! Bald Bull, Mr. Sandman, and Super Macho Man all return from the FIRST "Punch-Out" in order to bring more pain and havoc to Little Mac, who is BLONDE in this game! Although this game is EASIER than "Punch-Out," it's STILL a challenge to beat! Can YOU defeat the UNDEFEATED champ named Rick BRUISER?!!! As the old saying goes: "May the best fighter, win!!!!" Video Game score: 9/50.

82. “Drawn Into Life” 2006 Nintendo DS, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. I'm usually not that crazy about games where you get to 'play' God; real life is filled with enough crazy people convinced of their God status, that I don't feel like adding to it by contributing to video games that advocate it as a popular activity. This game however, is different. The basis of being able to move forward in this game, is to start off as a kind, compassionate God. A race of being called the Raposa (tiny, furry, anthropomorphic creatures) need a hero to save them from the terror of a Raposa gone bad; a villain named Wilfre! So it's up to the player to LITERALLY draw a hero into life! Although you can draw up to three different hero designs, each hero functions the same way. Although there are only four different levels with fifteen different stages between them (including a boss fight at the end of each level), the length of each stage and level MORE than makes up for what could have been a much smaller game! It's actually beneficial to rescue and help out as many Raposa as you can. The more Raposa that are rescued and unlocked, the more rewards and abilities that can be purchased, awarded, or given to the hero! The graphics, sound, music, controls, and story are all charming, but its the hook of being able to literally DRAW your own character that make this game REALLY special! Personally, I enjoyed drawing Conker from "Conker's Bad Fur Day," and Samson from "Camp Lazlo" as my designed heroes! Sadly, this unique game hasn't seen a new installment since the 2008 Wii sequel. But as long as people are creating, I think that there will ALWAYS be a market, for a unique video game just like this one! Video Game score: 19/100.

81. “The Lion King 1.5” 2003 Game Boy Advance, 2015 Wii U Virtual Console. I personally refer to the time between 1995-2003 as Disney's gaming slump. They could NOT come out with a good ORIGINAL video game on any system, at least none I wanted to play! That changed with this game though. A solid platform featuring Timon and Pumbaa, the unlikely duo will have to fend off against hyenas, hunt for grubs, and travel all across the Pride Lands in this game featuring solid graphics, music, sound, controls, challenge, and even BONUS clips from "The Lion King 1.5" itself! While it may not be in the same league AS "The Lion King," it can definitely hold its own. Video Game score: 5/25. /

That's it for my list, for now! Stay tuned next time for the video games ranked from #80 to #61. Enough said, for now. ;)

Folks, welcome back to the 100 Greatest Video Games of All Time, as personally played and beaten by 4EverGreen! But before I continue on this list, let's take a quick recap of the games that I have already listed! / 100. “Pong” 99. “F-Zero: Maximum Velocity” 98. “Spyro 2: Season of Flame” 97. “Super Mario World Two: Yoshi's Island/Super Mario Advance Three: Yoshi's Island” 96. “River City Ransom EX” 95. “Contra 4” 94. “Mario Party DS” 93. “Spyro: Attack of the Rhynocs” 92. “Hook” 91. “Frogger's Journey: The Forgotten Relic” 90. “Rayman Advance” 89. “Mega Man Zero Collection” 88. “Boing! Docomodake DS” 87. “Oscar In Toyland” 86. “Yoshi's Island DS” 85. “Mario and Luigi: Partner's In Time” 84. “E.V.O.: Search For Eden” 83. “Super Punch-Out!” 82. “Drawn Into Life” 81. “The Lion King 1.5” /

Now, to get right back on this list, no good video game player can call themselves a really good video game player without mastering a good R.P.G.! And that's exactly what we have at number 80!

80. “Children of Mana” 2006 Nintendo DS, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. The one thing in common with all of the other Mana games is that they have pre-designed areas that are to be traveled to in a pre-designed order, and fighting bosses in a generally linear order. That's not the case with this game. This is actually based on a concept with which I have NOT had too much experience with in other games, but I actually enjoyed with this game; the concept of the random dungeon generator. Choosing from a selection of four different heroes (heroic boy, girl, sprite, or a giant warrior rabbit) you have to slay monsters, find treasures, and rescue innocent people based on the different quests you accept from the people in your home town. Along the way, you will pick up pieces of Mana, that will let you customize your character so that they can have different strengths and bonus abilities. Although the types of dungeons you face are random, the ultimate object of the game is not. Someone is trying to RULE the world, by creating an excess amount of Mana, draining it from creatures and objects that need it to thrive and survive, and your object is to stop him! This game has good graphics, good controls, good sound, good music, and the game never feels like it gets too repetitive or redundant. Sadly, the "Mana" series has not seen a good, original "Mana" game since this one. I hope another installment will someday appear on the Nintendo 3DS or the Nintendo Switch, and brings back interest into this great video game series! Video Game score: 21/100.

79. “Luigi's Mansion” 2001 Gamecube, 2012 Wii U Virtual Console. It's almost never easy to be the first launch game available for a brand new system. This is especially true considering the fact that Nintendo was leaving behind cartridges and going onto discs for the first time. But instead of going for a Mario game as was expected by everybody, Nintendo instead opted to make Luigi star in his very first game to have his name on it! While the game, graphics, sound, music, and challenge are all very stellar, this game's biggest draw-back is its LENGTH!!!! It's by far one of the shortest games available on this list! Thankfully, Nintendo had the foresight to make THREE mansions playable when they FINALLY released a sequel to this under-appreciated game 12 years later! Video Game score: 11/50.

78. “Mega Man Zero” 2002 Game Boy Advance, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. Even if Capcom had ONLY decided to take the "Mega Man X" games ORIGINALLY released on the Playstation and re-released them on the Game Boy Advance, that would've been fine for most people. Instead, Capcom did something COMPLETELY unexpected, by coming up with a BRAND new "Mega Man" series entirely! A "Mega Man" game that provides good graphics, sound, music, and controls. Interesting enough, the game series doesn't REVOLVE around Mega Man, it centers on his partner Zero, hence why the series is CALLED "Mega Man Zero." Evil reploids are waging war against good robots and innocent humans. Zero is found AND reactivated in order to fend off against this scourge! A game with RAZOR sharp challenges, all designed to make even SEASONED players BEG for mercy, its little wonder how the "Mega Man Zero" series came to be so successful, and yet be the bane of SO many players' nightmares! And if you haven't played the game yet, you won't BELIEVE who the final boss ends up being; but it's NOT Dr. Wily OR Sigma! The best way to play this game now is on the "Mega Man Zero Collection" for the Nintendo DS, which even has a new EASY mode for the games, to give beginning players more mercy. Video Game score: 23/100.

77. “Wario World” 2003 Gamecube, 2015 Wii U Virtual Console. Ever since 1994, Nintendo had always wanted to have Wario grace one of their hardware consoles with a big name video game title! Their first attempt was with a planned puzzler called "Mario Vs. Wario", which would've introduced a new Fairy character called Wanda (no relation to Wanda of "The Fairly Oddparents,") but THAT game never got released outside of Japan. Their next attempt was with the greatly hyped "Wario Land", for Nintendo's first attempt at a 3-D video game system, the Virtual Boy...needless to say, that really didn't impress as much as it should have. And finally, Nintendo hyped a cross-over game between Wario and Bomberman. But seeing as this was BEFORE "Pokemon" made portable video games the next big thing, it didn't do so well financially. Finally, after Y2K and Nintendo finally made the switch to the disc-based format, Nintendo was FINALLY able to give Wario the star treatment he deserved. Unlike Luigi and Mario, Wario doesn't NEED any fancy gimmick in his main Gamecube game, he solves his problems old-school! By using any of his own moves at his disposal; jumping, hitting, throwing, crouching, crawling, running, climbing, searching, and collecting treasure; the goal of the game is to break the curse cast over Wario's castle that's being caused by a cursed treasure! Break the curse, and Wario will get his treasure back! Another good reason to play this game, is that players have the opportunity to play some of "Wario-ware's Micro-Games!" But since this video game isn't that long, it is best suited for rental material. Video Game score: 6/25.

76. “Pokemon Pearl” 2008 Nintendo DS and Wii (Compatible With “Pokemon Box And Pokemon XD: Gales of Darkness.”) 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. The "Pokemon" video game series had managed to change and evolve through three game generations, and even had one of those generations remade! "Pokemon" had generated many merchandised characters, and had a huge fan base. So people were wondering if it was possible for Nintendo to make ANOTHER "Pokemon" game without repeating themselves in any way. The resounding answer was; YES! They COULD! With it's partner game "Pokemon Diamond," the fourth generation of "Pokemon" games introduced what was THEN, the largest Pokemon library up to that point; 493 POSSIBLE different Pokemon to collect, some of them with multiple different forms! Also, brand new HM moves were introduced; De-fog, which could clear cloudy conditions, and Rock Climb, which allowed Pokemon to scale certain rocky cliffs! In addition to an EXTENSIVE game with brand new graphical update twists, great music, sound, controls, and story facing off against Team Galactic, a nice new feature of this game is the ability to go underground, and dig for buried treasures! Rare items can often be found only in the dirt, and not anywhere else; and the occurrence of certain items changes depending on the location of the character at any given point, so there's incentive to explore everywhere! Unfortunately, the amount of time one can spend on this game actually HELPS to work against it, as trying to collect as many Pokemon possible becomes an exercise in difficulty, in striving to complete the most Pokemon possible. It's a lot easier with the help of the Game Boy Advance Pokemon games. By having a copy of any of the Game Boy Advance "Pokemon" games in a Nintendo DS at the same time as "Pokemon Pearl," it's possible to transfer Pokemon FROM the Game Boy Advance games, to the Nintendo DS. But you WON'T be able to transfer them back, so be warned. This is still a good game, despite the long length. Video Game score: 5/20.

75. “Mario Kart: Double Dash” 2003 Gamecube and Arcades, 2013 Wii U Virtual Console. Believe it or not, it's actually possible for up to SIXTEEN people to play this game at the SAME time, over a LAN wireless connection! The fourth entry in the "Mario Kart" series is somewhat more divisive than others. Instead of just controlling one person per kart, you have to control two. One who does the steering and driving, the other who throws the items behind them. Figuring out the best character combinations to fit in the best karts available will help immensely. One nice new update about this game, is the fact that the characters NOW have more than ONE kart choice available to them, depending on their collective weight and what they can ride in. Even if the two rider concept wasn't a hit with everyone, this is STILL a stellar racing game for any racing fan to enjoy! Video Game score: 13/50.

74. “Disney's Magical Quest 2: Starring Mickey and Minnie” 2003 Game Boy Advance, 2013 Wii U Virtual Console. When I learned that the original Super NES "Magical Quest" game actually LED to sequals on the SNES, but only in Japan, I always wondered why? Thankfully, the Game Boy Advance finally corrects this little oversight and provides gamers with a solid platforming game! Playing as either Mickey or Minnie, players must help the Ghosts from the Disney cartoon short: "The Lonely Ghosts," into getting rid of ALL the evil specters and demons plaguing the land, as they have been chased away by the EVIL Ghost Emperor Pete! Featuring enhanced graphic, good music, sounds, controls, and a good challenge, "Magical Quest 2" PROVES that Capcom knows a lot when it comes to making SOLID video games based on Disney characters! Video Game score: 27/100.

73. “Mario's Time Machine” 1993 Super NES, 2013 Wii U Virtual Console. Back in the 1990's when there was a phrase called "Edutainment" to describe video games that were both educational AND entertaining, several video game companies wanted to bridge the chasm that separated education from entertainment, some more successfully than others. One of the more successful attempts was this concept from Nintendo. Bowser and his Koopa Kids go back in time to wreak havoc by stealing important artifacts from history, that will make it much easier for Bowser to kidnap Princess Peach in the present. Naturally, Mario isn't about to let THAT happen, so it's up to Mario in his time machine to go back in time, recover all the important artifacts, and save history from being changed! This game presents some important moments to younger kids and presents important pieces of history in a fun, exciting way! If you can track this game down, or play a simulated version of it online, I definitely recommend doing it! Video Game score: 7/25.

72. “F-Zero GX” 2003 Gamecube and Arcades, 2013 Wii U Virtual Console. Ever since the original "F-Zero" came out on the SNES in 1991, Nintendo wanted to create a bigger, better, faster "F-Zero" game that could gauge how players EVERYWHERE fared against each other! The first attempt was with an "F-Zero" sequel that had a hook-up through satellite internet, and kept a global scoring system. But since both the sequel AND the satellite internet only hit in Japan, that really didn't get far. The next attempt was by releasing an expansion disc for "F-Zero X", that allowed players to hook-up through the Internet through the N64 DD Add-on! But since the DD Add-On never got released outside of Japan, that kind of limited THAT game's impact as well. So far, the closest Nintendo has gotten to REALIZING this goal is with the 2003 release of "F-Zero GX!" What's interesting about this game is that at the same time "F-Zero GX" debuted on the Gamecube, a partner game, "F-Zero AX" (developed by Nintendo's RIVAL, Sega!) debuted in arcades! By taking the Gamecube memory card and putting it into a memory card slot for the arcade "F-Zero AX," players could see how they ranked against players from across the world, and add their scores from "F-Zero GX" into "F-Zero AX!" If that wasn't cool enough, the fact that this game was bigger, better, faster, smoother, cooler, had better music, sounds, graphics, and controls than its N64 predecessor, plus an expanded story and challenge mode for all 30 characters, make this the definitive "F-Zero" game to play! The only way to make this game even better; add HD graphics! Hint, hint Nintendo! Video Game score: 29/100.

71. “Aladdin” 1993 Super NES, 2003 Game Boy Advance, 2013 Wii U Virtual Console. While "Aladdin" came out on the Genesis and the Game Gear a full YEAR before the SNES came out with theirs; Sega's version and Nintendo's version are actually TWO different games! Sega developed their OWN version of "Aladdin," while the Disney conversion champ Capcom, developed the Nintendo version for the SNES. I've never played Sega's version, but I do know that the SNES version is a fun, magical romp that does a good, 16 or 32 bit job of sticking to the plot of the movie WITHOUT needing to go too far off course! Aladdin can jump, run, throw apples, swing from posts, hooks, or certain rocks, leap off of poles or stalagmites, and even glide with a rug (like he did EARLY in the movie.) Aladdin can collect green and red gems (100 gets him an extra life), find extra heart containers to extend his health, and by finding the special Scarab pieces, play a special bonus game to try and earn SPECIAL rewards! The graphics, music, control, and challenge are all fine staples Capcom is known for, and there are 74 games that MANAGE to do better than THIS one! Although, this is STILL a fun game to play! If you play a version of this game, play the Game Boy Advance one. It even includes extra levels that the Super NES version doesn't have! Video Game score: 3/10.

70. “The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess” 2006 Gamecube and Wii, 2016 Wii U. Okay, I'm probably going to get a LOT of hate for not putting a game of this stature any higher on this list, but there's a really GOOD reason as to why this game doesn't get RANKED higher; the amount of HARD in this GAME is just too D*** HIGH!!!! There, I said it! I NEVER thought I would live to see the day when there would be a "Zelda" game made that was HARDER than "Zelda II: the Adventure of Link!" I know that when it comes to the "Zelda" games, they REALLY like to respect and point out references to their past games a lot, but taking the hardness of "Zelda II" and applying it to the Nintendo Gamecube (and by extension, the Wii version) of this "Zelda" game, was NOT a necessary move that Nintendo had to make! Don't get me wrong, the game story is awesome, the music and sound effects are awesome, the dungeons are well imagined, and the Wolf transformation for Link is one of the most original ideas that the "Zelda" series has had in years, but this games biggest hurdle is by FAR the difficulty level. Just because the idea of "Figuring the game out for yourself" worked in "The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask," doesn't mean that it ALSO works out for "Twilight Princess," because it doesn't WORK for a game that is as expansive at this. But one thing might make players happy, the absence and/or exclusion of Tingle from this video game. Video Game score: 31/100.

69. “Robopon 2: Ring Version” 2002 Game Boy Advance, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. Okay, this is going to sound weird, but I found this game to be VERY fun, even if it kind of plays like a cousin to the "Pokemon" game series! That's mainly because this game takes a lot of INSPIRATION from "Pokemon!" In fact, the FIRST "Robopon" game released on the Game Boy Color in 1999, was SO heavily criticized of BORROWING from "Pokemon," that its PARTNER game and the N64 Stadium game were NEVER released in the U.S.! Thankfully, Atlus manages to make the game play MORE divergent from the "Pokemon" games THIS time around! Although this game DOES have a partner, "Robopon 2: Cross Version;" this game is the better made of the two, featuring better characters, better sound, better control, and better graphics. The challenge is also good, as well. Unlike in "Pokemon," where the monsters HAD to be caught, the Robots who fight on your behalf have to be MADE, by fusing together batteries! Dropped either in battle or found randomly in the game, there are over 180 different Robot companions to be found, either by making them, or leveling them up! One thing this game HAS over "Pokemon," is that it's POSSIBLE to have FOUR different Robots battling at the same time against a group of enemies! And the fact that there are ELEVEN main bosses to fight instead of just eight, makes for a longer game play, and a better challenge as well. Sadly, another "Robopon" game has YET to materialize, but until then, if you've got a Game Boy Advance or a Nintendo DS, pop in this game and see how fun "Robopon 2" can be! Video Game score: 8/25.

68. “Dragonball Z: Supersonic Warriors” 2003 Game Boy Advance, 2015 Wii U Virtual Console. "Dragonball Z" DEFINITELY has some WEIRD ideas when it comes to fighting games! While most fighting games go OUT of the way to copy whatever is popular in arcade rooms, "Dragonball Z" seems PERFECTLY content with trying their OWN ideas! In this game, a lot of popular DBZ characters get a chance to fight one each other in a high stakes, flying combat game filled with extreme fists, extreme kicks, extreme moves, and ESPECIALLY extreme explosions! Players can either fight computer-controlled opponents or OTHER players for fun, or they can play the story mode! While the story mode doesn't go into a deep detail of the many plots of DBZ like "The Legacy of Goku I & II" do, the main focus of this game is the fighting, which it happens to handle VERY well! And to keep the WEAKER characters from being too badly beaten by powerful mammoths of power, all characters have THREE levels of power that they can achieve, but the HIGHER levels of power have to be UNLOCKED first, not just by playing story mode, but by engaging in brand-new "What-If?" scenarios! For certain characters, the "What-If" scenarios examine how the story-line in the DBZ series might have changed if one thing had been different initially, and how that would change the way events unfolded in the story-line. This game was so successful, a sequel was made for the Nintendo DS! Unfortunately, the quality of THAT game is nowhere NEAR the level of good quality this game is! A good alternative would be to play the "Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkai'ichi" games on the Nintendo Wii for a game of this particular build. Video Game score: 33/100.

67. “Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels” 1993 Super NES (with “Super Mario All Stars”), 1999 Game Boy Color (with “Super Mario Bros. DX”), 2008 Wii Virtual Console, 2012 Nintendo 3DS and Wii U Virtual Console. The ACTUAL sequel to the original "Super Mario Bros." (not the "Super Mario Bros. 2" that DID come out in the U.S., which was actually just a re-skinned game version of a Japanese game called "Doki Doki Panic"); this game stayed true to the formula of the first game; featuring Goombas, Koopas, Spinies, Lakitus, Bloopers, Fire Bars, Coins, coin blocks, Mushrooms, Piranha Plants, 1-Ups, Fire Flowers, Super Stars, Bonus Areas, Warp Pipes, Cheep-Cheeps, Magic Vines, End Zone Flags, Hammer Bros., Bowser, and introduced a few NEW things to the mix; Poison Mushrooms (to TOTALLY avoid, as they shrink Mario back down to small size), Red Piranha Plants, which unlike their green cousins, did NOT hide inside pipes when Mario was right next to the pipe, Sky Bloopers, which were Bloopers that flew in the sky instead of swimming in the sea, Bonus areas that sent players BACKWARDS through the stage, and the most irritating, Warp Zones that sent players BACKWARDS through the game! What was even MORE irritating, is the fact that the TRUE ending of the game wasn't available for players to see UNLESS they resisted the urge to use ANY Warp Zones, and beat ALL four stages of secret level nine! But this isn't the easy game that the FIRST "Super Mario Bros." is, this is HARD to the extreme! It takes a lot of precise running, jumping, and timing to get through nearly ANY of the stages without dying, which tends to happen a lot! Try playing it, but only for a SUPER challenge! Video Game score: 17/50.

66. “Metroid II: Return of Samus” 1991 Game Boy, 2011 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. After conquering the NES in the 1980's, Samus proved that the Game Boy would be no match for her in the 1990's. So why is this game only ranked at #73? Despite its relatively short length (compared to "Metroid"), it is REALLY on the challenging side, and there's not a lot of re-play value to be had once this game is beaten. Still, credit must be given where credit is due. The portable experience remains faithful to the NES experience, as do the graphics, music, control, and hazards of the original. One nice little update in this game, is that the different beam forms for Samus' plasma gun are much more diverse and useful than in her original game. Video Game score: 7/20.

65. “The Lion King” 1994 Super NES and Genesis and Game Gear, 1995 Game Boy, 1999 Game Boy Color (as “The Lion King: Simba's Mighty Adventure”), 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. "The Lion King" is the FIRST Disney game to actually BE developed by Disney! The reason for this, is that Disney no LONGER wanted to go through a middle-man like Sega or Capcom before their games were made, they wanted to eliminate it all together! Although this was understandable by Disney's view-point, it ended up being a MAJOR mistake for Disney for a good time! Unlike Capcom, Disney had absolutely NO experience in making a video game! In fact, the Disney run video game branch called Virgin, actually ended up having to hire a BUNCH of former Capcom employees in order to make a video game version of "The Lion King!" Thankfully, the investment was worth it, as (at least the SNES version) proved to be VERY popular and VERY profitable! Containing actual AUDIO, stereo, sounds, music, and even VOCAL samples from the ACTUAL movie (very rare for a video game at the time), "The Lion King" managed to re-define just how GOOD a game based on a pre-existing movie licence could be! With excellent controls, challenge, enemies, and obstacles to overcome, along with fun bonus level games! And this managed to stay AT the top of many movie licence game lists for years to come! Sadly, this game HASN'T seen a physical re-release on a video game system since 1999 on the Game Boy Color. But it's still a good video game to find, play, and beat! Video Game score: 9/25.

64. “Pokemon Stadium” 1999 N64, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. When "Pokemon" became a GIGANTIC smash on the Game Boy Color, Nintendo wanted to quickly capitalize on the popularity of the digital monster craze by releasing a proper "Pokemon" game on the N64! But that endeavor PROVED to be harder than it sounded! "Pokemon Snap", and "Hey You! Pikachu" failed to grasp just what made the Game Boy Color "Pokemon" games so great. But this N64 game got it right! Taking the gym battle concept from "Pokemon Blue" and "Pokemon Red" AND expanding it into a 3D realm, this game also included fun multi-player mini-games to play alone, or with friends! While this game DID do its job of bringing "Pokemon" into the third dimension, it has sadly not aged relatively well. The "Pokemon" characters do NOT look as detailed or as expressive as they would on LATER system releases on the Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, and the Nintendo 3DS. And there isn't a lot of re-play value to be had once all the challenges are beaten in this game. One nice thing about this game, it allows you to play "Pokemon Blue" and/or "Pokemon Red" through a special cartridge link-up through the N64 controller. Video Game score: 37/100.

63. “Rayman 3” 2003 Game Boy Advance, 2005 Nintendo DS (as “Rayman 10th Anniversary Edition”), 2013 Wii U Virtual Console. What's even MORE impressive than a "Rayman" game full of GREAT graphics, sound, controls, music, and challenge? A game that has ALL those things, AND the ability to connect with the Nintendo Gamecube VERSION of that game, in order to unlock hidden stuff! Although it plays a lot like "Rayman Advance," it turns out to be in Rayman's best interest. If it's not broke, don't fix it! There are more levels, and a LOT more stages than in "Rayman Advance" and the biggest, HARDEST challenge of the game is, to find ALL the secrets hidden in the game, such as where all the cages are located, and breaking open every one of them. I'm proud to say that I took that challenge head on and won! The best way to play this game now is on Wii U Virtual Console. So if you haven't already, I highly recommend checking it out! Video Game score: 19/50.

62. “The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition” 2012 Nintendo DSI download Game. The one thing that kept "The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords" from being accessible on the Game Boy Advance, is that you NEEDED three additional people to help you play it; and in all the time I owned "The Legend of Zelda: a Link to the Past/Four Swords" on the Game Boy Advance, I NEVER met anyone else who owned a copy of that game! Finally, in 2013, I could see what I had missed out on, as the Nintendo DSi version of this game FINALLY made the game playable for a one-person adventure! The graphics are excellent, the sound, music, and controls are great, and the challenge is an excellent staple of the "Zelda" video game series. Some problems do drag the game down a little. Other than your sword, you can only hold ONE other item with you at any given time. Thankfully, you can control TWO Links at the same time, so there are really TWO different items that can be held. But the puzzles are STILL tricky to solve without the right items equipped. And if you don't know what you're doing, you might end up having to backtrack, or start the whole level all over again! Although the dungeons are well-designed, they are often generated randomly, making the ability to get through each one total guess-work! At the very least, the ultimate objective is well-defined; defeating Link's nemesis Vaati, and sealing him with the Four Sword! This is by FAR, the best original Nintendo DSi game I have EVER played, and for this reason alone, it gets a note of high praise from me! Video Game score: 39/100.

61. “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” 1992 Genesis, 1997 Saturn (with “Sonic Jam”), 2003 Gamecube (with “Sonic Mega Collection”), 2007 Wii Virtual Console, 2010 Nintendo DS (with “Sonic Classics Collection”, 2012 Wii U Virtual Console, 2015 Nintendo 3DS 3D Game Version. Despite this game being bigger and SELLING better than it's predecessor, I find it WEAKER than it's predecessor. That's mostly because I HATE the bonus stages in this game!!!! It's like Sega PURPOSELY went OUT of its way to make the bonus stages next to IMPOSSIBLE to beat! Not only do you have to get a SET amount of rings in order to obtain the Chaos Emerald at the end, you have to AVOID getting hit by objects so that you don't LOSE any rings you obtain, which is next to IMPOSSIBLE to do, due to the way the bonus stages CURVE and twist, and the way the objects are scattered about with LITTLE to NO warning as to where they are going to appear! Granted, you DO get to turn into "Super Sonic" for the first time in this game, but it's SO lame that you don't get to USE it in the Last Boss Battle! Not only that, but the Last Boss Battle is ALSO incredibly hard to beat! Not only do you have to beat a Metal Sonic first, Dr. Robotnik's final machine seems specifically DESIGNED to be almost IMPOSSIBLE to beat, and you don't even get any RINGS to help protect you in the final stage (unless you input the debug mode so you can GENERATE some ring boxes and turn yourself into Super Sonic. Overall, I just don't think this game is as FUN as its predecessor OR its sequels! Still, this game gets on the list because of Tails, he's still cute. Video Game score: 2/5. /

That's it for my video game list for now! Stay tuned next time when we get out of the bottom half of this list, and start tackling the top half! Enough said, for now! ;)

Now, a list of the 100 Greatest Video Games of all time, wouldn't be complete without some entries from one of the more RECENT video game systems that came out on the market, and a video game entry comes in at number 60, for the Nintendo 3DS, courtesy of Nintendo! /

60. “Mario and Luigi: Dream Team” 2013 3DS. With the exception of the Game Boy Advance, for every single hand held video game system that Nintendo has released since 2003, there have been two R.P.G. adventures with the "Mario & Luigi" name available to play for that system. At first, the game seems like it will be simple fare dealing about problems in the dream world, with Luigi sleeping and Mario having to dive within his subconscious (kind of a nod to "Super Mario Bros. 2", as that game dealt with the dream world), but the situation turns out to be more epic and adventurous than a first glance would inform you. As it turns out, Pi'illo Island is home to a race of people who have been petrified into stone pillows, and only by diving into Luigi's subconscious while he's asleep on one, will Mario be able to free the people who have been turned into stone, by the evil Antasma. Unlike the past games in these R.P.G. entries, Bowser actually IS the big bad to beat by the end of this game! Although this game is very humorous, challenging, and entertaining as the other games in this series is, the reason why it doesn't rank any higher, is the gigantic boss battles in the game. Although there aren't many of them, it's enough of a nuisance to be annoying, as you have to turn the 3DS sideways, utilizing the touch screen ONLY, in order to play the battles, and the boss battles can be MERCILESSLY unforgiving! You often have to be completely perfect with the controls and in your timing in order to actually WIN the fights; but the challenge is that playing the 3DS sideways makes it awkward to play as well as you could. If there was an option to play the gigantic boss battles normally WITHOUT the touch screen, the game would be better! But when it comes to video game greatness for the 3DS, this is only the tip of the iceberg, as the remaining games will ONLY get better! Video Game score: 41/100.

59. “Mega Man Zero 2” 2003 Game Boy Advance, 2011 Nintendo 3DS (with “Mega Man Zero Collection”), 2013 Wii U Virtual Console. After making a HUGE, critical success like "Mega Man Zero", how do you improve on it? By making the sequel have BIGGER stages, better enemies, new weapon choices, and by making the game's difficulty challenge level more finely tuned than its predecessor. Zero discovers that the Reploid Resistance, is trying to discover the secrets of the Dark Cyber Elf, a super-powerful force that was once used to eliminate the evil Sigma! But somehow, the Dark Cyber Elf became corrupted itself, and now possesses deadly powers that in the wrong hands, could bring utter devastation and chaos to both humans and reploids. Unfortunately, the Reploid leader Espion, wanting to destroy the evil Reploid Mavericks once and for all, decides to take it upon himself to find and RELEASE the Dark Cyber Elf, by ANY means necessary! The normal game mode is challenging enough, but by beating it, an even TOUGHER, harder version of the game can be unlocked! Challenge it if you are feeling confidant about your own skill! Video Game score: 21/50.

58. “Wario: Master of Disguise” 2010 Nintendo DS, 2015 Wii U Virtual Console. For about seven years, Wario took a break from the platforming genre game, and focused instead on the Micro-game collection craze! Thankfully, in 2010, Wario got back to his platforming roots, by starring in an original platform game for the Nintendo DS! Wario comes into the possession of a Magic Brush named Brushwell, which allows him to be teleported inside the world of his favorite TV series. Using Brushwell (drawing on the Nintendo DS touch pad with the stylus) Wario can change himself into many different forms, or solve puzzles with the help of Brushwell. The different forms allow Wario to disguise himself and master many different disguise forms, hence the name of the game. This game features the slapstick comedy, humor, great controls, sound, music, and graphics that Wario is known for. Video Game score: 43/100.

57. “Super Princess Peach” 2008 Nintendo DS, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. For the most part, Princess Peach has had the UNFORTUNATE distinction of being captured, kidnapped, abducted, marooned, imprisoned, stranded, jailed, and locked up by Bowser over the course of two decades. But in "Super Princess Peach," it's finally HER turn to turn the tables and save the day! Tired of always losing to Mario and Luigi, Bowser has kidnapped them BOTH and has taken several Toads hostage as well! But Princess Peach is NOT going to let Bowser get away with this, and she doesn't have to! With the help of her new, Magical, talking Parasol called Perry; Princess Peach can change her abilities and access different powers! When she gets sad, her tears can cause magical plants to sprout and grow to giant heights, helping her access places she couldn't before. When she gets MAD, flames surround her, burning obstacles and many enemies in her path. When she feels as light as air, she can use Parry to catch powerful wind currents, and soar to new heights and lengths! And when she gets hungry, she eats a delicious cake and can regain health. There are eight levels to get through, with well-designed stages, filled with good graphics, sound, music, controls, and memorable levels that Nintendo is well-known for having. Although a sequel for this game has been floating around as an idea for the Nintendo 3DS has been floating around since 2012, it has yet to materialize. If this game proves anything, it's that Princess Peach is just as capable and just as able of holding her own against Bowser and his army of loyal goons! Video Game score: 11/25.

56. “Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood” 2008 Nintendo DS, 2013 Wii U Virtual Console. When most people think of Sonic, they DON'T think of him as an R.P.G. star, unlike Mario, who IS thought of as one. However, Sonic HAS ventured into this realm at least once, with this great game that Sega made with the help of Bioware! During the course of this game, it is possible to play as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Cream, Rouge, Big the Cat, Shadow, Dr. Eggman, E-120 Omega, and Shade the Echidna. The game itself isn't overly long like many other R.P.G. adventures, but it's still challenging and has a good story. The graphics, music effects, and sound effects are all good (although it DOES honestly puzzle me as to WHY the whole game has to be played with a stylus!) In any case, Sonic's goal this time is to stop an evil clan of Echidna's from another dimension, from trying to conquer Earth/Mobius! Although this is a really great adventure, it has the dubious distinction of ending on a CLIFFHANGER! The plan that Sega had, was that they were going to release ANOTHER "Sonic" game to continue ON with the adventures of this first game, but due to PRESSURE from rabid, STUBBORN Sonic fans who REFUSED to take "NO" for an answer, such a sequel has YET to see the light of day. Still, if you want to play with Sonic in an R.P.G. adventure, this is DEFINITELY the way to do it, as it is completely playable on the Nintendo 3DS! Video Game score: 9/20.

55. “Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3” 2001 Gamecube, 2002 Game Boy Advance, 2013 Wii U Virtual Console. I could not begin to TELL you how impressed I was by how BIG the shift in graphics were from the N64 cartridge to the Gamecube disc! In May 2001, "Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2" came out on the N64. And while the graphics were better than the first "Tony Hawk Pro Skater," people were ACTUALLY convinced that the Game Boy Advance graphics of "Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2" were the graphics for the N64 version; that's how much the Game Boy Advance bridged the gap between portable systems and hardware systems! Clearly, the time had come for a graphics overhaul. "Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3" did NOT disappoint! All the AWESOME controls, graphics, camera control, sound, rocking music, and challenges are the top notch for a debut game worthy of the Gamecube! And the fact that you can play as a real-life pro skaterboarder, or even create your own, only adds to the fun! It's all the excitement of skateboarding, with NONE of the real-life risks! No helmet, knee-pads, or elbow-pads required! The Game Boy Advance version, while it doesn't have anything near the amazing fire-power that the Nintendo Gamecube has, it can still hold its own, even against the N64 version! The controls, music, sound, and challenge are stellar, and the graphics are absolutely INCREDIBLE for a 14 year old Game Boy Advance game! In addition to cool locations, it's also possible to have skateboarder customization, and play as a cool skateboarder of your own design; making that version of the game a definite play for TRUE fans of a "Tony Hawk Pro Skater" game! Video Game score: 23/50.

54. “Ducktales” 1989 NES, 1990 Game Boy, 2014 Wii U (as “Ducktales Remastered”). If you're looking for a franchise game to play, it's hard to go wrong with a selection from the masters over at Capcom. All the great graphics, music, control, enemies, and stages from the NES, are also present in the 8-bit powerhouse of the Game Boy. The biggest reason why this game doesn't get ranked higher, is that it is simply not as challenging or as entertaining as the 53 games that follow it, though not from a lack of trying! Capcom scores another winner in their cartoon to game cartridge conversion awards! The best way to experience this game today, is on the Wii U, with the beautifully designed “Ducktales Remastered!” Video Game score: 47/100.

53. “U.N. Squadron” 1989 Arcades, 1992 Super NES, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. One of the more obscure video games on this list, comes available for the Super NES, and this is a modern-day jet fighting/shooting game done right! While the game doesn't have much to do with protecting the different nations of the world, the name of the game isn't as important as the challenge that awaits in this game. There are eleven stages that are necessary to beat through, as well as a recurring bonus stage that can be played. There are three different characters to choose from, who each have different ways of piloting and handling their plane. Speaking of, every enemy or object trap destroyed in the game, equals more money for the pilot. The money can be used to purchase BETTER planes, which in turn can carry MORE and BETTER weapons! And with three levels of difficulty to choose from, there is a good amount of replay value to be had! Video Game score: 12/25.

52. “Diddy Kong Racing” 1997 N64, 2007 Nintendo DS, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. This game was Diddy Kong's chance to strike out on a solo venture apart from Donkey Kong, and have a solo video game experience. However, company STILL managed to tag along! At first glance, it's easy to compare "DKR" to "Mario Kart 64," but "Diddy Kong Racing" really DOES a lot to expand on the racing game genre! Featuring boss battles, multiple vehicle choices to choose from (before the "Mario Kart" series got the idea) and a great cast of characters (including Timber Badger, Banjo the Bear, and Conker the Squirrel before he changed his image), Rare brought the collecting craze concept introduced in the Super NES "Donkey Kong Country" games, and brought them into this racing N64 game. Although extending the game-play through complete item collection was a GOOD idea in theory, it quickly proved to be an EXERCISE in the tedium! If it wasn't hard ENOUGH for players to AVOID all the dangerous obstacles on all the race courses AND the weapons fired by the challengers, players are almost always REQUIRED to collect EVERY item possible during a race, making it IMMENSELY hard to win a race! Not to mention that Rare made it HARD for players to figure out just HOW to BEAT every single boss! But the graphics, sound, music, and control are thankfully all stellar for N64 game standards, and while the Nintendo DS re-release doesn't feature Banjo or Conker, it thankfully does AWAY with the annoying item collection craze, and makes it a whole lot EASIER for players to actually BEAT the bosses! If you're going to play a version of this game, play the Nintendo DS version on the Nintendo 3DS, it's a VERY good game! Video Game score: 49/100.

51. “Astro Boy: Omega Factor” 2004 Game Boy Advance/Nintendo DS, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. When Sega quit the hardware business in 2001, focusing only on software video games, many thought that Sega had finally lost its edge, and that it would cease to be relevant as a video game force. But those critics were proven WRONG, as Sega ONLY became stronger! Being able to focus ONLY on software, really helped Sega out in becoming a BETTER video game company! One of their best moves for Nintendo was developing the INCREDIBLE game called "Astro Boy: Omega Factor" the graphics featured in this game are almost MILES better, than anything else on the Game Boy Advance, and the game itself is pretty big to! Even if you know absolutely nothing about "Astro Boy" and its extended anime families that make cameos in this game, this is STILL a challenging, riveting, fun game to be had! With SOLID controls, great music, awesome sounds, and hours of fun, all on one tiny Game Boy Advance cartridge! And even with THIS amount of praise, there are 50 games that manage to be even BETTER than this one! Read on and find out which ones they are! Video Game score: 5/10.

50. “Chrono Trigger” 1995 Super NES, 2008 Nintendo DS and Wii Virtual Console, 2013 Wii U Virtual Console, 2016 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. This is a really awesome game, not just because it has time travel, but it's an RPG with MULTIPLE points of time that the heroes have to go through, fight off the evils that exist in each point of time they go through, as they find out that the major source of all the trouble going on, is one BIG, BAD villain named Lavos, a creature of SUPER destructive capabilities! Although the player initially starts the game as Chrono, he's not the only main character in the game. Chrono also meets up with Merle, a genuine Princess! Lucca, resident genius and long-time friend of Chrono. Frogo, a frog knight from the Middle Ages; Robo, a steam-punk inspired robot from a potential, ruined future time-line; and Arlia, a mighty cave-woman whose bite is DEFINITELY worse than her bark! Even more than the interesting characters, is the fact that this game doesn't have just one ending, or TWO endings, but mutliple possible endings depending on when and where Lavos is finally defeated! So it has a lot of replay value! What's even more surprising, is that the game plays even BETTER on the Nintendo DS version than it does on the SNES! Not only does the Nintendo DS version have beefed up graphics, music, sound, and game controls from the original, it now has all new anime cut-scenes that it didn't have before, to help tell the story! There is also an interesting new monster raising experience. You can raise, customize, and battle a unique monster wirelessly against other player's unique monsters! In addition to the unique time-traveling hook, the same great characters, the same great challenging enemies, and all of the different multiple endings in this game; there is also one brand NEW ending exclusive to the Nintendo DS version of this game! Can you find all the different endings of this game? It's quite a challenge, but a fun one! Video Game score: 51/100.

49. “Super Street Fighter II: Turbo Revival” 2001 Game Boy Advance, 2013 Wii U Virtual Console. Before the concept of the Virtual Console came along, it was the Game Boy Advance that first made the phrase "Everything Old is New Again," come true. "Super Street Fighter II: Turbo Revival" took the "Street Fighter" game series back to basics, by focusing on raw, pure, unfiltered fighting! In truth, "SSFIITR" actually takes elements from TWO different "SFII" games originally on the Super Nes; it combines the Hyper Fighting from "SFII Turbo", adds it into "Super Street Fighter II," and even provides a cool, new story mode for all 16 of the playable fighters from the Super NES game! Also, the amazing sound, music, controls, and graphics are EVEN better on the Game Boy Advance than they EVER were on the Super NES, making this version a definitive version worth of playing! Video Game score: 13/25.

48. “New Super Mario Bros.” 2006 Nintendo DS, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. By 2006, Mario had conquered practically every single different type of video game imaginable. He had conquered puzzlers, kart racers, tennis, golf, brawlers, R.P.G. quests, party board games, educational games, even the 3-D free world video game. But it had been a LONG 15 years since Mario had made an ORIGINAL side-scrolling platform game, and people thought that there was no place for them in the 21st century. But in 2006, after a 15 year hiatus, Nintendo managed to make everything old, feel brand NEW again! "New Super Mario Bros." takes you back to the basics of a Mario platform; Mushrooms, fire flowers, invincibility stars, 1-ups, coins, red coins, blue coins, goombas, koopas, bullet bills, lakitus, spinies, buzzy beetles, cheep-cheeps, bloopers, boos, piranha plants, hammer bros., and Bowser himself are present in this game. But what makes this game unique is that Mario takes all of the tricks he has learned in the 3-D free world game, and gets to use them in this 2-D platform! In addition to his established staple of tricks, Mario learns a few brand new ones. With the help of a mini-mushroom, Mario can now run across water, jump super high, and get into tiny spaces that his normal self can't. With the blue shell power-up, Mario can safely ride across water, ice, snow, or lava without getting hurt, as well as knock over most enemies. And with the help of the MEGA Mushroom, Mario can temporarily grow into a GIANT size, break pipes, knock over most enemies and obstacles, and rack up an insane amount of 1-ups! It's safe to say that with the help of this game, Mario FINALLY got back to making 2-D platform games popular again! That makes this game worth playing! Video Game score: 53/100.

47. “Pokemon Battle Trozei” 2013 Nintendo 3DS download Game. This puzzle game, is actually a sequel to a little known 2005 Nintendo DS game called "Pokemon Trozei." The goal is, by using the touch screen, you have to get at least four Pokemon in a row touching each other, in order to clear them. And since there are many different types of Pokemon to clear, the action can get fast and frantic in a game of this nature! Thankfully, there are many levels of difficulty for players of all abilities, so whichever level they are at, they can play at. Not one of the bigger Nintendo 3DS games available, being a download only, but it's still a lot of fun for the puzzle enthusiast! Video Game score: 27/50.

46. “Animal Crossing” 2002 Gamecube-Game Boy Advance (Hook-up capable), 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. The Gamecube was the first, and sadly, is really the ONLY major video game console that promotes connection between itself, and a portable game system! When it first came out in Japan as "Animal Forest," it was a fine enough game. But there were two major problems wrong with it. There wasn't a cool, secret place to go to, like a tropical island, and the only way you could travel to another town, was to buy an N64 Memory card, which most people WEREN'T willing to do! But when the game got a GLOBAL release on the Gamecube in 2002, it got world-wide recognition! The games that feature hook-up capabilities with the Game Boy Advance, really do their best to make it well-worth a player's while to have that capability! For instance, when the Tropical Island feature was added in for the Gamecube; even after one of your four characters left the island, it was STILL possible to play on the island. By hooking in the Game Boy Advance (without any other game in it), you could play on a 32 bit version of the island. You could water plants, dig and bury plants, fish, grab butterflies, and cut down trees, and sometimes find rare items while playing on the island. As neat as this feature was, it only showed a SMALL sample of what the Game Boy Advance was capable of when connected with the Gamecube! In addition to this neat feature, the fact that you could live a simulated life in a nice, rural area populated with animals, only adds to the game's charm! The best bonus of this game, is being able to play bonus NES games that can be found INSIDE "Animal Crossing!" This is one solid game! Video Game score: 11/20.

45. “Metal Gear” 1988 NES, 2013 Wii U Virtual Console. On the NES, its Konami/Ultra's version on the Nintendo platform that actually BROUGHT the game into super-popularity, and made it one of the best-selling N.E.S. games of the 1980's. LONG before "Metal Gear," became the super high-tech, CGI pioneering, story-filled sneak and shoot game that it is today, Konami/Ultra only had eight bits to work with. But they made eight bits go a LONG way; the game was of longer length than many other games at the time, and therefore, included a helpful save system so players wouldn't have to lose their place in the game. With many different weapons to choose from, different enemies and obstacles to face, and many different puzzles to solve, "Metal Gear" was definitely the foundation for many hiding, shooting, and seeking video games that exist today. The only downside of the game, IS the last boss. Taken right from the pages of "Tron," the last boss is called Master Computer. All it does is occasionally shoot wimpy gun shots at Solid Snake while low-level grunts try to hit you; and despite its HIGH health, it can be taken out pretty easily. But the game's strength is the amount of challenge it takes to GET to the end, not the challenge that waits AT the end. Video Game score: 14/25.

44. “Super Mario Land” 1989 Game Boy, 2011 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. With Mario being a big hit on the NES, it was certainly destined to do the same for the Game Boy. Although there was a game package of "Super Mario Land" with initial production runs of Game Boy, it was the puzzle craze of "Tetris" that helped make the Game Boy the preferred choice of the portable player, even over COLORED portable offerings by Sega Game Gear and the Atari Lynx! And this game feels VERY different from a standard Mario game, as Mario has to pilot a submarine, fly a plane, and fight strange enemies that he doesn't fight in any other of his games, including the main antagonist Tatanga, who has kidnapped Princess Daisy! This game has become a cult favorite, and an example of what the Game Boy was capable of. Little wonder than, that the Game Boy managed to STAY a relevant force in gaming for a WHOLE ten years! Video Game score: 57/100.

43. “Super Bonk 1994 Super NES, 2009 Wii Virtual Console, 2016 Wii U Virtual Console and Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. From 1989-1994, Hudson Soft decided to throw their hat into the 16-bit battle by coming out with a system called the Turbographx 16. Unfortunately, Hudson Soft DIDN'T have a lot of unique characters they could call their own, and they had a HARD time gaining third-party support for their fledgling system. If that wasn't enough, the Turbographx just never GOT the name recognition that the Sega Genesis OR the Super NES got. Eventually, Hudson Soft called it quits, but it thankfully had the option to go back into making software games FULL time! Because Hudson Soft didn't burn its bridges with Nintendo, and had the best relationship with them, Hudson Soft decided to become a second-party developer for Nintendo! One of Hudson Soft's first moves for Nintendo was to take their POPULAR mascot hero Bonk, and give him a stellar game on the Super NES (they also re-released "Bonk's Adventure" on the NES and the Game Boy.) "Super Bonk" was a SMASHING way for Bonk to make his debut on the Super Nintendo! With cool new power-up abilities, new enemies to fight, and new stages to conquer, this became one of Bonk's BEST games he ever starred in. Unfortunately, it was one of his LAST ones for many years. "Super Bonk" got a Super NES sequel, but ONLY in Japan. And "Bonk's Revenge" re-release on the Game Boy was BARELY a blip on the radar! Bonk didn't get a new, proper game until Wii Virtual Console allowed Hudson Soft to create a brand-new adventure for Bonk! Here's hoping that Bonk can get back to even MORE bonking in the 21st century! Video Game score: 29/50.

42. “Mickey Mouse's Magical Quest/Disney's Magical Quest Starring Mickey and Minnie” 1992 Super NES, 2002 Game Boy Advance, 2007 Wii Virtual Console, 2012 Wii U Virtual Console, 2016 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. The early 1990's wasn't just a good time for pre-existing mascot characters to have great video games, it was a good time for brand NEW mascot characters to have great video games as well! "Mickey Mouse's Magical Quest" released near the tail-end of 1992, and the first video game to grace the cover as a subscriber BONUS issue of Nintendo Power (Issue #44), Capcom delivered another jewel in their crown of cartoon to cartridge video game conversions! When Pluto gets kidnapped by Emperor Pete, Mickey Mouse must travel through many different types of stages and don many different costumes in order to do different things and have different abilities, in order to defeat different bad guys. Capcom even goes the extra limit by putting in cool bonus items to find, extra-lives and helpul life extending heart containers, as well as coins to spend in shops that provide helpful items to help Mickey out in his Magical Quest! The Game Boy Advance re-release makes the game even better by adding Minnie Mouse in to the mix, making that version worthy of tracking down and playing as well! The Game Boy Advance version is also a two-player game, two players can play as either Mickey OR Minnie Mouse, either cooperatively or competitively! In addition, the Game Boy Advance version has THREE difficulty modes, making for more game replay value than before! The ability to now save ANYWHERE in the game, is also a welcome addition. Plus the same great graphics, sound, music, and controls from the Super NES version, are even BETTER on the Game Boy Advance! Video Game score: 59/100.

41. “Sonic the Hedgehog, Game Gear Version” 1991 Sega Master System, Game Gear, 1997 Saturn (with “Sonic Jam”), 1999 Neo Geo Pocket Color, 2001 Bandai Wonderswan, 2003 Gamecube (bonus, unlocked game in “Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut”), 2007 Wii Virtual Console, 2012 Wii U Virtual Console and Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. Contrary to popular belief, there are actually TWO different versions of the "Sonic the Hedgehog" game; the Genesis version that EVERYBODY knows about, and the less popular, but still good in it's own right, Sega Master System/Game Gear version! What's unique about the versions that appear on the eight bit system, is that THOSE versions of "Sonic the Hedgehog" are ACTUALLY what the game was ORIGINALLY going to be about! You know how "Blade Runner" has different cuts of its film? Well, "Sonic the Hedgehog" has different cuts of his first game. The eight bit versions of the game are the ORIGINAL story and levels, the Genesis version is the final cut. Although shorter than its sixteen bit cousin, the Game Gear version of "Sonic the Hedgehog," is by no means less FUN than it's mightier cousin! Unlike the Genesis version, the Chaos Emeralds are located RANDOMLY, out in the open in various levels, although they are STILL kind of tricky to find! And in the Bonus Stages, its very easy to rack up coins and extra lives (unlike in OTHER Sonic games, which is kind of TRICKY to do!) Despite being on a supposedly INFERIOR system, "Sonic the Hedgehog" for the Master System and Game Gear, are graphically impressive games in their own right, they have good sound, good music, and a good difficulty. The only thing that prevents the eight bit version of the game from doing any better, is the fact that it is short. But don't let that stop you from playing it! The best way to play this game now, is on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console! Video Game score: 6/10. /

That's it for my video game list for now. Stay tuned next time, when we get one step closer to finding out the number one video game of ALL time!!!! Enough said, for now! ;)

Now it's time to resume our list. While there is STILL a clear separation between the quality of download ONLY video games and physical video games, the separation has shrunk considerably in recent years, and that is due in no small part, thanks to the next video game entry on my list.

40. “Citizens of Earth” 2014 Nintendo 3DS Download Game. It shames me to admit that I have NEVER played "Earthbound" for the Super NES, despite the rave reviews it has. But this R.P.G. download game, seems very similar to "Earthbound," in the way that it takes place in modern times, has a very humorous story line, and magical elements have been replaced with more off-beat, humorous features and modern day items. In the game, the main character has just been elected Vice-President of Earth (which helps explain the game's name). But being Vice-President isn't just a bed of roses, there are conspiracy plots to uncover, people to please and help, places to go, and a plethora of activities to achieve and accomplish in this game. Thankfully, the Vice-President won't have to do it alone, as by helping people in need within this game, he can often recruit them to fight on his behalf! One of the humorous parts about this game is that with the exception of the final boss in this game, the Vice-President doesn't do any real fighting. Although the Vice-President can only have three other people in the active party to help clear obstacles or give certain status upgrades at any one time, he is often able to switch out his recruits on the fly! Which is very helpful in the very likely event that one of his party gets incapacitated due to an enemy attack! This game is hours of entertaining, challenging fun. And while you can basically play the game by going to locations in pretty much any order you want (depending on who you recruit and when you recruit them), it is helpful to go to certain areas first and beat the enemies and clear the obstacles there, so that harder areas won't be so difficult to get through. The only problem with this game (although to be fair, I was playing it on a glitchy 3DS at the time) is that the game might freeze or glitch in a way that doesn't just fix itself. To be on the safe side, I recommend saving early, and saving often if you play this game! Video Game score: 61/100.

39. “Kirby Squeak Squad” 2007 Nintendo DS, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. Despite having a career spanning over 20 years, Kirby is often dismissed as Kid fluff, games that even the smallest of children can beat. However, that doesn't STOP the games from being good, aimed for kids or not, Kirby's games know how to be fun and entertaining, and this one definitely is! A bunch of evil mice have over-run Dream Land, and they are called the Squeak Squad! (Hence the name of the game.) In addition to a brand new power-up ability (the ability to tunnel through certain walls and spots in the ground like a mole) Kirby now has the brand new ability to SAVE up to three different power-ups inside of himself, and then pull it out (with the touch-screen,) and use it any time he wants! Certain power-ups can also be combined, to create a totally brand-new, RARE power-up that's hard to come by anywhere else! In addition to the main game, there's also fun mini-games available to play. The graphics, sound, music, controls, challenge, and game play are all excellent staples in a Kirby game that find their way in this one. This game is fun to play! Video Game score: 31/50.

38. “Sonic Colors” 2010 Nintendo DS, 2015 Wii U Virtual Console. It's no secret that Sonic has an adverse reaction whenever he interacts within a 3D environment. He either has a really great time in it, or he flounders about pathetically. But on a 2D plane, Sonic seems to have no problem having a great video game adventure, and the game I have played (at least on the Nintendo DS version) is no exception. While the game seems to take a LOT of its cues from the Sonic "Genesis" days, that actually seems to WORK in this games favor. The Wisp power-up idea, is one of the BEST that Sega has had in YEARS! The graphics are beautiful, the sound and music are great, the challenge is perfect, and the boss levels are well-designed as well. If you're looking for a good, 2D "Sonic" game, this is probably the best game you can find that's been made in the past six years. And since it's playable on the Nintendo 3DS, there's no reason as to why you SHOULDN'T play this well-made game! Video Game score: 63/100.

37. “Mega Man” 1987 NES, 1992 Genesis (with “Mega Man: The Wily Wars”), 2002 Gamecube (with “Mega Man Anniversary Collection”), 2007 Wii Virtual Console, 2012 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console and Wii U Virtual Console, 2016 Nintendo 3DS (with “Mega Man Classics Collection”). One of the most PROLIFIC video game franchises that existed on the eight bit NES, was of the Blue Bomber from Capcom, and the many Robot enemies he had to fight! This game is unique in the fact that this was one of the first (if not THE first) game that allowed players to fight any of the first six bosses in any order that they wanted! (Granted, it's a lot easier to fight them in a certain order.) Taking the concept of rock-paper-scissors to the next level, Mega Man had to fight enemy bosses. But what's great is that for EVERY boss that Mega Man defeats, he then gets to use THEIR weapon in all future fights against all the other bosses! Although this is the first "Mega Man" game (and the ONLY one that has a scoring feature), this game was not without problems. First, Capcom had a contest to allow one lucky person to DESIGN the box art for "Mega Man," and for some insane reason, it's like Capcom went with the WORST entry instead of the best, forever resulting in one of the most AWESOMELY bad box art video game covers! Second and most importantly, is the sheer level of difficulty that this game contains, which is why this game isn't ranked higher. Don't believe ANYBODY who tells you this game is easy, it isn't! But it is SO satisfying to actually beat it and win the game! Video Game score: 16/25.

36. “Bubsy in: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind” 1993 Genesis and Super NES, 1994 Jaguar, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. Even though this game has WAY many more puns than it has the RIGHT to, Accolade created something unique when they came up with THEIR answer to Sonic the Hedgehog. Bubsy is a Bobcat, who can glide, jump on enemies, make a TON of witty AUDIO wise-cracks, and even gain temporary invincibility with a special shirt! Bubsy's biggest weakness is water, he can't swim in it! Even though the plot isn't steller (Bubsy is trying to save yarn that was stolen from him by evil aliens), the variety of stages, the great music, controls, and excellent challenge MORE than make up for the somewhat weak plot. This game was so popular, it got a sequel on the Super NES, and another game on the Jaguar! Than Bubsy's career got REALLY wrecked because of ONE bad move: "Bubsy 3D" for the Jaguar and the Playstation! This game was SO bad, it actually GOT most of the BLAME for KILLING the Atari Jaguar in 1996, and putting Atari OUT of the hardware business! While Sony likes to pretend that "Bubsy 3D" doesn't even exist (along with a thousand OTHER C***TACULAR games that they ALLOWED to be MADE), but that doesn't change the fact that THIS game managed to be great! In fact, after LONG years in limbo, there seems to be a concentrated effort to FINALLY bring Bubsy back out of obscurity, into a brand new video game adventure, maybe for the upcoming Nintendo Switch! After all, ANYTHING is possible! Video Game score: 13/20.

35. “Animal Crossing: City Folk” 2007 Wii. It never fails to amaze me how so far, each new MAIN entry in the "Animal Crossing" games is better than the LAST main entry that came before that game. This game is no exception. In addition to the returning hooks such as catching bugs and fish, finding fossils, growing flowers and trees, and buying paintings, you can now even customize how your playable character looks! And thanks to the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection capabilities, traveling between towns that other people have made is now easier than ever! Any game that lets your character live among animals is a good game in my books! Video Game score: 33/50.

34. “Star Fox Command” 2006 Nintendo DS, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. This game is an absolute masterpiece! Whether you're pro or anti multiple endings, it can not be denied that Nintendo came up with a really solid "Star Fox" game for people on the go! The touch screen controls take a little bit getting used to, as well as completing some of the different missions; but once they're mastered, this game is LITERALLY a blast to play! Trying to discover, unlock, and achieve every single different ending at least once is one of the MAJOR reasons to play this game, the multiple endings actually extend this game's re-play value. Since this game isn't even ten years old however, I'm not going to SPOIL my favorite of the different multiple endings (and the only one that's CANON to Nintendo), that you'll have to play and find out for yourself. The best part about this game, is that not only is Andross NOT the big bad in this game, he doesn't even really HAVE a presence in this game, making this game a nice change of pace from previous "Star Fox" outings, and this game one that is WELL worth playing! Video Game score: 67/100.

33. “The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker” 2003 Gamecube-Game Boy Advance (Hook-up capable), 2013 Wii U (“The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD”). Before "Twilight Princess" came around and GRABBED everyone's attention with how controversial IT was going to be, the BIGGEST controversy "Zelda" had garnered (not involving the DREADED Phillips CD-i games) was the DIVISIVE "Toon Link" look. But as people everywhere soon found out, there was MORE to Link than just a new art approach, it was actually a branch off of a GREAT "Zelda" legacy! If you haven't played the Gamecube or Wii U update, than big SPOILER alert; near the END of the game, it's revealed that the OCEAN Link's been traveling on, is actually COVERING the entire old WORLD of Hyrule! The island's that remain are actually the mountain tops of the old Hyrulian kingdom! This game made you FEEL, like you were CONTROLLING a cartoon character, because all the graphics were cel-shaded, a unique approach that first got attention when it was used in the Gamecube's version of "Dragonball Z Budokai," but actually became popular because of THIS game! And if people were SHOCKED to find out Shiek was ZELDA in "Ocarina of Time," they were even MORE shocked to find out Tetra was Zelda in "The Wind Waker!" Especially when Tetra herself had no knowledge of her dual identity! And if anyone was doubting this game's ability to be epic, they definitely WEREN'T after they see what Link DID to Ganondorf at the END of this game! The only reason this game gets docked points, is that the sailing sections can get tedious at times. But the Game Boy Advance hook-up with Tingle's bombing ability and hidden treasure map is a nice feature! Video Game score: 17/25.

32. “Sonic Spinball” 1993 Genesis, 2002 Game Boy Advance (with “Sega Classics Collection”) 2003 Gamecube (with “Sonic Mega Collection”), 2007 Wii Virtual Console, 2012 Wii U Virtual Console, 2016 Nintendo 3DS (with “Sega 3D Classics Collection”). "Sonic Spinball" was developed more as an afterthought, than as a serious entry for Sonic fans. The main reason this game got developed, was that Sega didn't want to GO through 1993, WITHOUT releasing a "Sonic" game, but they also didn't want to rush with "Sonic the Hedgehog 3," as they wanted that game to outdo both of their previous main entries! "Sonic Spinball" was developed as a stop-gap for fans of Sonic, it satisfied their appetites, and kept them content for a whole year. But more importantly, "Sonic Spinball" is really challenging and FUN to play!!!! The game itself isn't TOO big, with only four levels and bonus stages thrown in between, it's that accomplishing the goal of beating the game is trickier than it looks! But what I really like "Sonic Spinball," is the fact that it's one of the few RARE games in the "Sonic" library, that PUBLICLY acknowledges the existance of BOTH Sonic's Archie Comic Book friends and foes, as well as the Saturday morning cartoon friends and foes! While the game doesn't innovate HEAVILY, it DOES put a nice spin on the pinball game (literally!) It is also TECHNICALLY, Sonic's MOST successful spin-off game made to date! (A fact that fans of "Knuckles Chaotix" aren't too happy about.) Owning this game on Wii U Virtual Console, is probably the best way to enjoy playing the game today! Video Game score: 69/100.

31. “Final Fantasy I and II: Dawn of Souls” 2002 Game Boy Advance, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. The "Final Fantasy" series was SLOW in getting its start in America. While "Final Fantasy" made its debut in Japan in 1987, it took seven LONG years for the series to get popular in America. And despite the 1994 success of "Final Fantasy VI" (originally called "Final Fantasy III" in the states), it would be another eight LONG years before another "Final Fantasy" title graced a Nintendo console. This game was Squaresoft's welcome back party after a six year absence away from Nintendo. And to start off their comeback right, Squaresoft went back to the beginning of the "Final Fantasy" era, with "Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls." Since neither of the games were particularly long on the NES, or the Famicom Disk System (Japan's version of the NES), the two games are put together on the same cartridge, but with IMPROVED results! The graphics, sound, music, layout, and controls of the game are COMPLETELY revamped from their 8-bit originals, with graphics that even surpass the lofty graphics of the Sony Playstation! Plus, the incredible DIFFICULTY of the original games have been toned down IMMENSELY, making the games FAR easier to play, and ACTUALLY beatable! (Don't let that mislead you though; the games are STILL challenging even in this updated form!) For providing TWO great R.P.G. games for the PRICE of one, Squaresoft has DEFINITELY got to be saluted! Video Game score: 7/10!

30. “Zelda II: The Adventure of Link” 1988 NES, 2004 Game Boy Advance and Gamecube (w/ “The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition”), 2008 Wii Virtual Console, 2013 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console and Wii U Virtual Console. It seems that EVERY successful video game series has at least ONE black sheep member in their family. And if nobody counts the three awful NON-CANON "Zelda" games that Phillips made for its failed CD-I system (and Nintendo certainly doesn't), than this game gets the black sheep distinction. Although that's HARDLY fair to the game itself; simply because the game doesn't play like its OTHER side-scrolling platform cousins, the game is criticized because its SO different from the other "Zelda" games! When in fact, there were several staples introduced in THIS game that weren't available in the first! For instance, Link only RARELY met other people in the first game, whereas in this one, there are whole TOWNS for Link to visit, and its always to Link's benefit to talk to the villagers, gain helpful hints, and find both Wise Men and Soldiers, the former to boost Link's MAGICAL abilities (another introduced staple) and to boost Link's fighting abilities, something the first game wasn't able to implement. Many enemies and bosses in this game, can't be defeated by mere hacking and slashing; actual STRATEGY has to be utilized in facing off against many of them, a staple that would get a lot more refined in future installments. Also, this game was a lot LARGER than its predecessor, and the first game was pretty large by itself! There's much more to explore, and more variety in the types of areas that Link explores. Unique to this Zelda game is the fact that Link gains experience by fighting monsters and actually gets STRONGER the closer he gets to his final goal. The biggest reason this game doesn't get ranked higher, isn't because it looks and plays SO differently, its due to the sheer DIFFICULTY of the game. This game is NOT a walk in the park, no matter HOW much of an expert a player is! But that only makes the game SO much more satisfying to finally beat! Video Game score: 71/100!

29. “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Radical Rescue” 1994 Game Boy. By the mid-1990's, the popularity level for the Heroes in half-shells was waning. The NES, the Game Gear, the Genesis, and even the Super NES all stopped releasing games based on this property by 1993, because they no longer saw them as popular or relevant enough to increase their profits. But the Game Boy decided to roll the dice one last time, and ended up making the BEST game for the four heroes on the Game Boy ever! Unlike the two Game Boy predecessors, this game is longer, graphically improved, musically good, has a good challenge without being too difficult, and it has a good amount of variety. All four turtles have different abilities that help them reach different places. There are several different types of enemies to meet, beat, and it all leads to one final face-off against Shredder, in order to save the lovely April O'Neal from his nefarious clutches! This game was a good way for the Turtles to go out; on a high note! Only "The Arcade Game" and "Turtles in Time" have managed to sell more and score higher than this game managed to do, but it still remains a Game Boy must-have play! Video Game score: 18/25!

28. “Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: The Movie” 1995 Genesis, Game Gear, and Super NES, 2016 Wii U Virtual Console and Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. For all the Morphing the Power Rangers do, their games are often nowhere NEAR as Mighty as they SHOULD be! This game is a NOTABLE exception. Although ANY of the six rangers from the movie can be played, and simultaneous two-player co-op is available, it doesn't really change the way that the game is ultimately played! There are two levels of difficulty to choose from, full of many Z-Putties to fight, obstacle traps to avoid, and bosses to fight! Iconic enemies include Robo-Goat, the De-Polarizer, Silverhorns, Skelereena, and the EVIL Ivan Ooze as the final boss! The stage levels are of a good variety, the sound, graphics, control, and challenge are all good WITHOUT being too overwhelming. I highly recommend playing it if you get a chance to play it! Video Game score: 73/100!

27. “Cruisin' World/Cruisin' Velocity” 1997 Arcades and N64, 2002 Game Boy Advance, 2007 Wii Virtual Console, 2012 Wii U Virtual Console. A faster, smoother, better, longer sequal to the first "Cruis'n Game", Midway delivers yet again for the racing genre by expanding the game-play from ONE country, to the ENTIRE world! With more cars to choose from, more music to hear, better graphics, the same smooth control and more levels to race through, "Cruis'n World" proves to be both a more challenging game than its predecessor, and a lot more fun! What makes this game the most fun of all, is the fact that one level is unlockable, and it lets players race; on the MOON!!!! (Don't ask how that works, its just for fun!) "Cruis'n World" is a solid racer that still holds up as a solid racing game, even today! If you want a fun, portable experience, the Game Boy Advance version called “Cruisin' Velocity” is definitely the way to go for fun on the go! Video Game score: 37/50!

26. “Crazy Kangaroo” 2014 Nintendo 3DS Download Game. Normally, I'm not a big fan of precision racing and/or jumping games. That is, where the goal of the game is to get through a stage as fast as you can, avoiding any and or obstacles in your path, and being very precise in the jumps and leaps you take, which often require good memorization skills in case you need to start the stage again. This game (at least, for me) was different. The graphics and music were very good, the controls were top notch, the difficulty was challenging enough without getting too overwhelming, and the concept was pretty original as well! The only downside of this download only game is that there isn't more of it, which is partly why this game doesn't get ranked any higher. But if you want proof that a download-only game can be loads of fun, I recommend playing this one! Video Game score: 15/20!

25. “Disney's Chicken Little: Ace in Action” 2006 Nintendo DS, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. Ever since "The Lion King" until 2006; with a few exceptions, there were not a lot of games revolving around Disney licenses that seemed impressive enough to me to want to personally play. That changed due to two factors; "Kingdom Hearts 2," and this game. This game actually follows the mission of the Hollywood alter-egos of Chicken Little and company (based on the movie within the movie near the end of "Chicken Little.") This is a GOOD game!!!! It's actually a REALLY solid game! For the first time in a long time, Disney has made a game with a SOLID challenge, a good difficulty level curve, great graphics (including Wii graphic level cut-scenes, good area level design, good control schemes, good music, great sounds, and a story that while based in humor, can STILL be taken seriously as a quest to save the world!) In the game, you get to pilot a spaceship as Abby Mallard, drive a tank as Runt, and snipe and shoot as Ace in this fantastic game! And even though you technically don't die in this game, you're still encouraged to keep on going until you finish it. If your health ever gets too low, you're automatically teleported to the last spot you saved from. For releasing a game that even hard-core gamers can be proud of, Disney DESERVES to be saluted! Video Game score: 19/25!

24. “Sonic the Hedgehog, Genesis Version” 1991 Genesis, 1997 Saturn (with “Sonic Jam”), 2003 Gamecube (with “Sonic Mega Collection”), 2006 Game Boy Advance (as “Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis”), 2007 Wii Virtual Console, 2010 Nintendo DS (as “Sonic Classics Collection”), 2012 Wii U Virtual Console, 2014 Nintendo 3DS 3D Game Version. Sonic was born and specifically DESIGNED for the 16-bit system in mind, being one of the first major characters to DO so (not counting "Bonk" on the Turbographx-16, which sadly NEVER got the amount of recognition, love, or sales that either the Super NES OR even the Genesis managed to get!) IRONICALLY, Sonic's original creator, admitted that he actually CREATED Sonic, after playing SPEED runs of Mario's first MAJOR NES game, "Super Mario Bros." Sonic was DESIGNED to be fast, to go fast, and to SELL fast, and he was DESIGNED to have a MAJOR personality attitude! One major thing that makes Sonic DIFFERENT from his predecessors, is that he was MADE as a DIRECT rival to a pre-existing video game character, that of Mario! Sonic WAS Sega's answer to Nintendo's Mario! When the shots of "Sonic the Hedgehog" AND "Super Mario World," it OFFICIALLY opened up the 16-bit battle in 1991, it waged for the BETTER part of five long years, with NEITHER side willing to give in to the other! Although Nintendo eventually managed to pull ahead with the Super NES and do better than the Genesis, the fun factor of Sega's games (especially the ones they made in their glory days) still remains to this day. "Sonic the Hedgehog" is no exception. While "Sonic the Hedgehog" doesn't have the depth factor that "Super Mario World" does, it can certainly hold its own as a 16 bit game. That's why the original game CONTINUES to do well to this day! Video Game score: 77/100!

23. “Pac-Man/Ms. Pac-Man” (tie!) 1980 & 1982 Arcade Games, 1991 Genesis, 1993 NES, 1996 Super NES, 2000 Game Boy Color and N64 (as a “Ms. Pac-Man's Maze Madness” bonus), 2001 Game Boy Advance (with “Pac-Man Collection”), 2007 Wii Virtual Console, 2012 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console and Wii U Virtual Console. These two games go hand in hand, one can't be discussed without the other. Although BOTH games had already garnered fame before the NES was even a thought in Nintendo's mind, they both eventually found a home on the NES, although the road proved to be harder than anyone thought! The Atari run, Russian company called Tengen, wanted to make GAMES for the NES, but they weren't willing to pay Nintendo's price for the official cartridge development kit, OR agree to Nintendo's limitations on how many games they could release a year. (The reason for the latter, is that Nintendo didn't want a REPEAT of the infamous 1982 Atari Game Crash, caused by an OVERLOAD of poorly produced games.) So Tengen did something BAD, they actually FOUND a way to reverse-engineer the NES, make their OWN cartridges, and make games for the NES without having to go through Nintendo! Neither Namco or Nintendo were happy when Tengen came out with un-liscensed versions of "Pac-Man," and "Ms. Pac-Man" in 1989. Nintendo took Tengen to court for violating copyright infringement laws, and overwhelmingly won! After Tengen was completely dismantled, Namco finally released official versions of both "Pac-Man" & "Ms. Pac-Man" for the NES, both in the very same year. The rules of the arcade games are the same as the NES games, simple rules, but challenging game mechanics! How far a player can go is entirely up to them! Video Game score: 39/50!

22. “Rampage World Tour” 1997 Arcades and N64, 1999 Game Boy Color, 2007 Wii Virtual Console, 2012 Wii U Virtual Console. With three different monsters to choose from; Lizzie the giant reptile, George the giant ape, and Ralph the Giant wolf, its possible to play this game either alone, or with a friend. The object of this game is to travel to MANY exotic locations around the world, and SMASH all the buildings to pieces! Reduce human civilization to rubble, and one monster will RULE as the ruler of THEIR Earth! Just don't tear down buildings right away, valuable items can be hidden in buildings, such as cash money, food, or even PEOPLE for the monsters to eat! But be careful; poisonous items and traps are ALSO hidden in the building; learn which items to grab, and which items to avoid! And if any tank or military vehicle tries to put a stop to the fun, SMASH them! The N64 and Game Boy Color versions are the DEFINITIVE versions to play, as they even add a neat on-going story in for good measure! "Rampage World Tour" may be a DESTRUCTIVE game, but it's a FUN destructive game! Video Game score: 79/100!

21. “Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime” 2006 Nintendo DS, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. Although it is a LONG running series in Japan with SEVERAL shoot-off games; "Dragon Quest" never seemed to make the kind of impact that the "Final Fantasy" games has. At least, not until the 21st century came about. With a renewed focus on Nintendo games and portable games in general, Akira Toriyama and Square Enix teamed up to deliver one of the most unique game experiences available on the Nintendo DS! What makes this game unique is the fact that it features three different elements; traditional platforming level tricks, recruiting different monsters or citizens to help you in boss battles, and having those boss battles actually be GIANT mobile fortresses that fight your OWN giant mobile fortress! To combat the mobile fortresses, you need to collect items that can act as weapons. As you level up and get stronger, you can also make your fortress and your weapons stronger. And it helps to make your fortress and your weapons stronger, because each mobile fortress is tougher to defeat than the last. This game does a really good job of taking the lowly Slime monster (which often appears early on in the normal "Dragon Quest" games as a WEAK monster) and turning him into a TOUGH, versatile hero! Perhaps someday, another one of these fun side games will make its way to the states! Video Game score: 8/10! /

Now, through no fault of its own, Nickelodeon hasn't made that many games that I have played, let alone beaten. But one video game that I have played AND beaten, is the next entry on my list! /

20. “Nicktoons Racing” 2002 Game Boy Advance, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. In the days when a company called T.H.Q., existed, one of their most successful franchises was taking Nickelodeon cartoon properties, and turning them into video games. Their greatest success was making "Nicktoons Racing," which veers very close to being as GOOD as ANY "Mario Kart" game! "Nicktoons Racing" is a very SOLID Kart Racer game, with fast speed, smooth controls, good graphics, good music, great sound, and even voice samples for the characters! With several courses to race through, course difficulty levels, and one unlockable secret character, this game has a lot of re-play value for one through four players! "Nicktoons Racing" can definitely hold its own against the mighty game series that is "Mario Kart." Video Game score: 81/100!

19. “Turtle Tale” 2014 Nintendo 3DS Download Game. There aren't a lot of games out there that can be challenging without resorting to graphic violence. Cute, charming games that are family friendly for everyone are seemingly harder to come by these days, but this game manages to be charming, entertaining, and doesn't resort to graphic violence! Not only is this a platform game, it's a platform game with challenge to it! Thankfully the challenge never gets over-whelming! This is another good, original download only game for the 3DS, and it's a game that pretty much any gamer of any age can play! Video Game score: 41/50!

18. “Sonic Unleashed” 2008 Wii. After the Titanic DISASTER that was "Sonic 2006," some people were honestly wondering how Sega and Sonic could ever POSSIBLY recover from their massive folly! The answer came in this surprisingly well made game! Now, I know there are people who are either FANS of the gimmick games that "Sonic" has made on the Nintendo Wii, or they just ignore them completely. This game, however, is no gimmick! The concept of Sonic being able to transform into a Were-hog, is one of the BEST ideas that Sega has had in YEARS! The combat stages are a welcome breath of fresh air! The graphics are among some of the most BEAUTIFUL on the Nintendo Wii! The stages are well-designed, the music and sound effects are perfect, the control scheme works great, and the camera works PERFECTLY as well! Although to be fair, you can't help but wonder just WHO came up with the design of the Final Boss, Dark Gaia! Dark Gaia is by FAR, the most BUTT-UGLY boss in the HISTORY of Video Games! Still, if you want to play the best "Sonic" game FOR the Wii, this is the one to play! Video Game score: 83/100!

17. “Yoshi's Story” 1997 N64, 2007 Wii Virtual Console, 2012 Wii U Virtual Console. This game just can't seem to catch a BREAK in the United States! Despite being a gigantic hit in Japan, and doing modest success in America, plans to re-release the game on a portable system in the States, have fallen through THREE times! But at the very least, it's still an enjoyable game to play on the N64, Wii Virtual Console, or the Wii U Virtual Console. A sequel to "Yoshi's Island," this story (told like a children's storybook) follows six young Yoshi's (two unlockable Yoshi's can be picked up along the way) who have to save the Tree of Happyness from Baby Bowser, who has selfishly stolen it for himself so that the Yoshi's can't have it. The majority of this game isn't particularly hard, but finding all the secrets are! The toughest goals in this game, are to find the three hearts hidden in EVERY stage, and to TRY to eat ONLY melons in this game! Not as easy as it sounds, as the hearts can be WELL hidden at times, and sometimes, if a player FAILS to get a melon the FIRST time, it WON'T be available for eating later! Thankfully, this game has a lot of re-play value. Instead of having to beat ALL 24 stages in a row, players are given a CHOICE as to WHICH stages they want to play on any play-through of "Yoshi's Story." Players have to beat one stage on all the six levels of this game, before finally facing off against Baby Bowser. And by collecting the hearts and melons in each level stage, it makes all the other stages in each level available in a players stage selection! So any play-through (as well as the story) can change quite significantly every time this game is played! Video Game score: 21/25!

16. “Kirby and the Amazing Mirror” 2004 Game Boy Advance/Nintendo DS, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. "KatAM" is an ORIGINAL outing, full of great graphics, sound, music, challenge, and control for the pink puff of wonder. Once again, Kirby has to inhale enemies, copy their abilities, and use them against other enemies strategically. Where this game differs from OTHER "Kirby" games, is the fact that King Dedede isn't the BIG BAD this time around! Instead, it's Kirby's nemesis Marx, from "Kirby Super Star," who has come BACK for revenge, and plans to release a sinister force called The Darkness from the Nightmare Realm! But Kirby WON'T have to battle alone, he can battle WITH himself! Thanks to an object called the Amazing Mirror (hence the title of this game), Kirby has been split into FOUR different colored versions of himself; Pink, Red, Yellow, and Green. By playing solo, or with up to three friends, the different Kirby's will have to co-ordinate their efforts to solve puzzles, beat bosses, and find a way to overcome the evil Emperor Marx from plaguing all of Dreamland into the Darkness! This is one solid Kirby game that DESERVES to be played! Video Game score: 17/20!

15. “Crash of the Titans” 2007 Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. Although this game has a Game Boy Advance version available, it's the Nintendo DS version that left a remarkable impact, in the terms of being the better game! Crash is back, and not only does he have a brand new look, he has some brand new tricks! One of those tricks is his ability to jack (or control) certain monsters. This skill is an essential part to learn and master in this game in order for Crash to solve puzzles, break barriers, and clear obstacles that Crash can't clear on his own. And different monsters have different skills, each of which is helpful for Crash to have at some point, making it well-worth your time to track down and experiment with each and every one of them. This game has great graphics, good music, sound, great controls, a good story line, and good voice casting. Crash's adventure isn't the ONLY main point about this game, but I don't want to give TOO many surprises away! Play for yourself to find out how good of a game this really is! Video Game score: 43/50!

14. “Wario Land: Super Mario Land III” 1994 Game Boy, 2011 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. The game's name is a bit of an odditty. Although it SAYS that it's the THIRD game in the "Super Mario Land" franchise, it has relatively little to NOTHING to do with Mario at all! In fact, Mario BARELY makes a cameo appearance near the end of the game! Although, it turns out to not be such a bad thing! After making his debut as a villain in the predecessor to this game, Wario steps out of Mario's shadow, and makes his mark as a unique anti-hero. Wario's not concerned with saving Princesses or defeating evil Koopas; he just has one main goal in mind, which is MONEY!!!! Wario DOES get power-ups in this game, and he DOES fight enemies in this game, but both of them are notably different from Mario's usual game staples. A bull-hat power-up allows Wario to slam on the ground, breaking weak blocks and unbalancing weak enemies with his ground blow; a dragon hat power-up that allows Wario to breathe fire, which defeats many enemies and can break certain blocks; and a rabbit hat power-up that allows Wario to jet left or right through the air, allowing him access to places he can't reach otherwise! With many treasures to collect, there are actually different rewards depending on how many coins Wario manages to get by the end of the game. Get the maximum amount of coins, and Wario will get his own planet! Who says hard work never pays off?! Video Game score: 87/100!

13. “Street Fighter II: The World Warrior/Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting” 1991 Arcades, 1992 C64, Sega Master System, Super NES, NES (Un-liscensed), Amiga, PC, ZX Spectrum, Atari ST, many OTHER systems TOO numerous too mention; 1993 Arcades and Super NES, 2007 Wii Virtual Console, 2008 Wii Virtual Console, 2012 Wii U Virtual Console, 2013 Wii U Virtual Console, 2016 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. If there was ANY game that would hold the record for being released on the MOST video game systems in history (including SOME systems it had absolutely no BUSINESS being on); it would DEFINITELY be “SFII!” Already a champion in arcade rooms, "Street Fighter II" was an OBVIOUS candidate for console conversion in 1992, but by FAR, the best version out of ALL the different conversions was the SNES version. Not only do the great controls, great graphics, great music, and perfect difficulty level remain the same on the SNES as it does on the arcades, the fact that players no longer have to put in a QUARTER every time they need to continue (which happens quite a bit, given the nature of this game) means that this game EASILY pays for itself a LOT more than many other games can. Of course, it's successor, “SFII Turbo” is even better! What this game has over its predecessor, is that players can now CHOOSE to play as the previously boss-only characters of Balrog, Vega, Sagat, and M. Bison. Some of the characters also get COOL new moves (such as Chun-Li's fireball attack) and the game can become FASTER than ever! Although the game can initially go up to four stars (or notches) of speed, there's a special code that can be inputted during the sound test that can RATCHET up the speed to a full TEN stars of speed! It's a small wonder that these games that started the fighting craze first, remains a strong model for fighting video games, EVEN today! Video Game score: 44/50!

12. “Mario Vs. Donkey Kong” 2004 Game Boy Advance/Nintendo DS, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. The oldest video gaming rivalry of them all, Donkey Kong and Mario, gets re-ignited once again in this solid platforming/puzzle game mix for the Game Boy Advance! Not only is this game REALLY fun and REALLY challenging, what's REALLY impressive about this game, is the fact that the graphics on THIS game almost reach Nintendo Gamecube levels at times! That's quite a lot of power in such a tiny package! In any case, Donkey Kong has raided Mario's Toy Factory, and has kidnapped all of the Mario Toys for himself, so that no one else can have them! Mixing up the original "Donkey Kong" style of maze layouts, with many brand new levels, stages, obstacles, traps, and ways to potentially get through many of the stages, "MVDK" is not just a well-designed puzzle game, it's a BRAIN Reflex game that can challenge even seasoned masters! This game not only requires good reflexes, it requires CLEVER thinking! That's what makes THIS Game Boy Advance game work so great! Video Game score: 89/100!

11. “Sonic 3D Blast” 1996 Genesis and Saturn, 2003 Gamecube (with “Sonic Mega Collection”), 2007 Wii Virtual Console, 2012 Wii U Virtual Console, 2016 Nintendo 3DS (with “Sega 3D Classics Collection”). The Sega Genesis came into prominence WITH a "Sonic" game, it should seem very fitting that the Sega Genesis should exit WITH a "Sonic" game. The last major "Sonic" game made to release on the Genesis, was Sega's attempt to venture into the 3D realm. Even though 3D games wouldn't be fully mastered until the N64 came out a few months after this game, that didn't stop Sega from TRYING! Truth be told though, this game is only an isometric 3-D game. Although you CAN move around in all directions, you're limited as to WHERE you can go. ("Super Mario R.P.G." had the same limitation, but is considered superior because it is longer, and it IS an R.P.G. game.) Although Sega can ALWAYS be criticized as trying to bite off WAY more than they can chew, I think their efforts paid off in this game! Sega reached the LOFTIEST heights of graphics that the Sega Genesis could achieve in this game, not to mention their sound quality, their music quality, their controls, and their challenge of quality. So it's a real shame to note that for the most part, after THIS game came out, both Sega AND Sonic's quality in games DROPPED drastically!!!! Although the switch to full 3D games was hard for almost EVERYONE (except for Nintendo, who had the advantage of working out the bugs of a full 3D game for a full two years for the never publicly released Super NES game of "Star Fox 2,") nowhere was the transition more APPARENTLY hard and difficult to master, than it was for Sega. In fact, it could be argued that Sega STILL hasn't mastered full 3D games (with the noticeable exception of "Sonic Adventure DX"), but Sega WAS at least able to make sure that the Genesis went out on a HIGH note! Video Game score: 9/10! /

Now, believe it or not, it's time to throw you for a LOOP! Instead of finishing with what SHOULD be the final ten games of this list; when I come back, I will instead list the top ten games for every video game SYSTEM (the NES, the Game Boy/Game Boy Color, the Super NES, the N64, the Game Boy Advance, the Gamecube/Wii, the Nintendo DS, and the Nintendo 3DS) and YOU can be the judge as to WHICH game is superior over the other, EXCEPT for the FINAL video game, which is at the top as number one! Stay Tuned! / Enough said, for now! ;)

Donkey Kong” 11. “Sonic 3D Blast”

The time has come to reveal the top ten, with a TWIST! Instead of finishing with what SHOULD be the final ten games of this list; I will instead list the top ten games for every video game SYSTEM (the NES, the Game Boy/Game Boy Color, the Super NES, the N64, the Game Boy Advance, the Gamecube/Wii, the Nintendo DS, and the Nintendo 3DS) and YOU can be the judge as to WHICH game is superior over the other, EXCEPT for the video game, which is at the top as number one! /

NES!!!! 10. “Mega Man III” 1990, 1992 Genesis (with “Mega Man: the Wily Wars”), 1993 Game Boy, 2002 Gamecube (with “Mega Man Anniversary Edition”), 2007 Wii Virtual Console, 2012 Wii U Virtual Console, 2016 Nintendo 3DS (with “Mega Man Classics Collection”). There's a lot of debate over which "Mega Man" sequel IS the better video game; either "Mega Man II," or "Mega Man III" as the better choice. While "Mega Man II" DID introduce a greatly needed pass code system and much needed energy tanks, I find "Mega Man III" to be the better game because of one important factor: Snake Man, awesome, AWESOME Snake Man, and his epicly AWESOME stage! Plus, two other important staples got introduced in "Mega Man III;" Mega Man's faithful companion Rush, and the mysterious robot known as Proto Man. Not only are the stages graphically stunning (for its time), awesome music and excellent control, what's amazing about THIS game is the fact that the eight robot masters from "Mega Man II" return for an ENCORE appearance after the first eight robot masters are defeated! Although this game is easier than its two predecessors, it is STILL not an easy game to beat, so be sure to stock up on the 1-up's and the energy tanks, they will REALLY be needed for the final boss stages! Video Game score: 91/100!

Game Boy/Game Boy Color!!!! 10. “Street Fighter Alpha: Warrior's Dreams” 1999 Game Boy Color, 2014 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. If you were to ask someone the most impressive thing the Game Boy Color managed to do in its first year of existence, the answer would HAVE to be taking the 16/32 bit arcade game of "Street Fighter Alpha," shrinking it down to 8 bits for portable play on the Game Boy Color, retaining all the characters, special moves, good graphics, and rocking music, and varying degrees of difficulty, than THIS game would rank as the most impressive hat trick of the Game Boy Color's first year of existence! It wasn't easy to pull this trick off, but Capcom made it look EASY!! If there was any game to choose from as a fighting experience on the Game Boy Color, "Street Fighter Alpha" is the best game to pick for a portable player on the go! Video Game score: 91/100!

Super NES!!!! 10. “Super Metroid” 1994, 2009 Wii Virtual Console, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console, 2016 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. The third game in the "Metroid" video game series, is also the BEST; this sprawling epic masterpiece that came out during the prime of the Super NES! If "Metroid I" was ambitious and "Metroid II" daring, than "Super Metroid" took the concepts established in both, and expanded them more than DOUBLE combined! Ridley is back to cause trouble, as it has stolen the last Metroid Egg (that Samus previously saved in "Metroid II") and has taken it to the Metroid home planet of Zebes, in an EVIL scheme to re-populate the Metroid alien race and conquer the cosmos! Not only is the game bigger, the graphics better, and the sound music appropriately moody enough for a game of this nature, Samus learns more new tricks and travels to new types of areas that she never traveled through in the first two games. What makes this game an improvement over its predecessors is the inclusion of an in-game map that can be accessed at any time! The map lets Samus see where she has been and an idea of where she can go, but it has to be filled IN as the game goes along, giving Samus and players incentive to explore EVERYWHERE! One of the biggest incentives of this game is the concept of the speed run. The faster the game is beaten, the better the final ending is. How fast CAN the game be beaten?! Find out for yourself by playing this GEM!!!! Video Game score: 91/100!

N64!!!! 10. “Mario Party” 1999, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. Believe it or not, "Mario Party" is NOT the first video game to have a party board set-up as its main game idea! Sonic actually BEAT Mario to the punch two years prior, with a little-known game on the Sega Saturn called "Sonic Shuffle." However, THAT game turned out to be a bomb, seeing as how it was RELEASED on the Sega Saturn while it was in its DEATH throes; so it took Mario to make a PROPER video game release of a party board game. And this turned out to be one of the FIRST times (out of many) that Mario TOOK something Sonic did, and made it a 100 times better! Featuring, Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Wario, and Donkey Kong as playable characters, one through four players can play against each other on various different party game boards! Six different boards are available initially, two can be unlocked, to have ALL the different characters fighting against each other, to see who can become the superstar of each party game board! To do that, players must earn coins and stars! The stars are the primary factor for determining a winner, coins are the secondary factor for determining a winner. In addition, coins can ALSO be used to BUY mini-games that players can play at ANY time (to test themselves, beat their own high scores, or for fun). Also, special blocks can be bought in order to enhance game play. Blocks that add coins, subtract coins, limit the number of spaces a character can move, or ensure that a character can move a great number of spaces! Needless to say, this is one game that can provide endless hours of fun for players of ALL ages! Video Game score: 91/100!

Game Boy Advance!!!! 10. “Metroid Zero Mission” 2004, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. "Metroid" was a VERY impressive game when it came out on the NES in 1987. It proved to be SO successful, that Nintendo decided to release the SAME game AGAIN 17 years later, on the Game Boy Advance! Only this time, the graphics, sound, music, controls, challenge, and layout of the game have all been VASTLY improved to handle all 32 bits of the Game Boy Advance's AWESOME power! Not only that, the story has been greatly improved to; for whenever Samus completes a section, she updates her story with a nice anime cut-scene. The game is significantly longer than its NES original, so it has a nice new save feature that lets you save ANYWHERE in the game! Another nice new update, is the fact that Samus now has an IN-game map, that keeps track of where Samus has BEEN, and when Samus gains new abilities, she can REACH or access places on the map she couldn't reach before! But the best part about the game, is the fact that the game is extended BEYOND the original "Metroid" game! After fighting through the original "Metroid," missions, Samus finds herself STRIPPED of her Varia Suit, forced to fight in her VERY vulnerable Zero Suit until she can find her most POWERFUL form, the Gravity Suit! This rocking game is Samus' most successful 2-D outing on a portable system, and is highly recommended for fans of the "Metroidvania" style of games! Video Game score: 91/100!

Gamecube/Wii!!!! 10. “Super Mario Sunshine” 2002 Gamecube, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. By 2002, what video game series WASN'T trying to copy "Super Mario 64" and all the standards it set up for how a 3D platformer game should be?! Surprisingly, Mario ITSELF! Nintendo could've very EASILY turned in another platformer like "Super Mario 64" and called it a day; instead, they were willing to try something different! Unlike "Super Mario 64", which featured a variety of different worlds, there were only a few different levels in "Super Mario Sunshine," and they were all a riff on the Tropical Island theme. Thankfully, every single level riffs on the Tropical Island theme very differently and makes Mario's venture through each level feel new and unique. This game is REALLY epic, because it's the debut of Bowser's eighth Koopa Kid, the appropriately named, Bowser Jr.! Proving to be just as bad as his father, he's decided to FRAME Mario, by disguising himself as Shadow Mario, and making a REAL mess on Delfino Island! Speaking of, the Delfino natives are a NICE new character addition to the Mario series! Thankfully, Mario has some help in order to clean up Bowser Jr's. mess; the E-Gadd F.L.U.D.D. 3000! A water jet-propulsion system that is good for spraying water forwards, backwards, up, down, sideways, diagonally, and can even let Mario hover temporarily! The F.L.U.D.D. 3000 is an integral part of solving many puzzles in this game; but this game has a few surprises, such as BONUS areas where Mario DOESN'T have the F.L.U.D.D. 3000, and instead, must get through the bonus area old-school! The best part about this game, the inclusion of getting to ride on Yoshi again! Sadly, you can't ride on him in the water like you could in "Super Mario World." Maybe making "Super Mario Sunshine" so different from "Super Mario 64," might have prevented it from selling better, but it definitely makes for a MUCH more unique video game experience! Video Game score: 91/100!

Nintendo DS!!!! 10. “Sonic Classics Collection” 2010, 2015 Wii U Virtual Console. If you were to ask the average person what the best moments were for Sonic the Hedgehog, most people would point and say his solid core games on the Genesis. Well, for the first time on a portable system, Sonic's four main games from the Genesis are all together on one Nintendo DS game card! Not only do "Sonic the Hedgehog, 2, 3, Sonic and Knuckles" look better than ever thanks to the Nintendo DS' sharper resolution, they now all have ACTUAL stereo sound music in them; something they only previously had on the Saturn and the Nintendo Gamecube! It's now also possible to save your high score in every stage and every level of every game! And in the first "Sonic the Hedgehog" game, Sonic can now spin jump and roll dash; something he was only able to do previously in the Game Boy Advance version of his first game! A good update for all of the games is the ability to save anytime you want! Best of all, by beating "Sonic the Hedgehog 2, 3, Sonic and Knuckles" at least once, it then becomes possible to USE "Sonic and Knuckles" to hook up to "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" and "Sonic the Hedgehog 3," so its like having lock-on technology available all over again, without having to own three separate cartridges! It's hard to beat the advantage of being able to play with four great "Sonic" games ANYWHERE with the Nintendo DS or with the Nintendo 3DS! Video Game score: 91/100!

Nintendo 3DS!!!! 10. “Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam” 2016. After the misfire that was "Mario & Luigi: Dream Team," it's nice to see the duo getting back to doing what they do best; making an AWESOME story with funny and awesome inside jokes, an excellent combat system, and a game that can span about a good 50 hours worth of game-play. There's plenty of chaos and confusion to go around when TWO Mario's, TWO Princess Peaches, and TWO Bowser's are running around in the "Mario & Luigi" world. The music is nice, the locations are nice, and the challenges presented in this game never feel overwhelming. I think the card battle system is a nice little inclusion/introduction into a game of this nature. Using the battle cards can be a very good way to help your characters level up quickly, in order to face the many puzzles and enemies presented in this game. Also, I just think it's SO awesome that the original KOOPA Kids are back in this game, in order to bring more mayhem to the Mario Bros. Not only that, but King Bomb-Omb and King Boo make a return appearance, to! This is without a doubt, the best way to experience a good R.P.G. experience, with elements of BOTH "Mario & Luigi," and "Paper Mario." I highly enjoy it, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good R.P.G. video game playing experience! Video Game score: 91/100! /

NES!!!! 9. “Metroid” 1987, 2004 Game Boy Advance, 2007 Wii Virtual Console, 2012 Wii U Virtual Console and Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. While its 2D sequels made more refinements and improvements to this game's mechanics, this is the game that not only invented a NEW genre in "Metroid-vania," its one of the 1ST video games to BLOW people's minds! Inspired by hit movies, "Alien," and "Aliens," the game follows a bounty hunter on a quest to hunt and destroy evil Metroids! There are power-ups, armor boosts, and weapon boosts to collect. Although there are only 3 bosses to fight, that's plenty for the amount of space THIS game covers. The original version came with a password system, and replaced it with a much more helpful save game feature in later versions. The reason this game was so unique initially, it was one of the first (if not THE first) non-linear video game ever MADE! That is, a player can theoretically go anywhere they wanted anytime they wanted, and explore the game in pretty much any order. This paved the way for later video games to make this feature deeper on future platforms. But the BIGGEST plot twist was that by finishing the game with a fast time, the bounty hunter Samus, reveals herself to be a WOMAN!!!! With THAT plot reveal, gender equality in video games got a little stronger and better! Video Game score: 23/25!

Game Boy/Game Boy Color!!!! 9. “Super Mario Bros. DX” 1999 Game Boy Color, 2014 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. Not only does “Super Mario Bros. DX” contain the full, unaltered game of the original "Super Mario Bros.," it also contains eight of the thirteen stages from the Super NES version of "Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels;" here called "Super Mario Bros. for Super Players." The game also features nice bonus features. It includes a yearly calendar to help people keep track of important dates, nice artistic pictures of iconic Mario characters, bonus features which include getting five red coins, finding a Yoshi Egg, and getting a high enough high score in each of the 32 original "Super Mario Bros." stages! Also included are eight exclusive stages containing a Boo race! That is, Mario has to race against a Boo to the end of a stage. By beating a Boo, he will be replaced by an even faster Boo for up to at least three times! So give Nintendo an A for effort, by including two GREAT NES games for the price of one on the Game Boy Color! Video Game score: 23/25!

Super NES!!!! 9. “Mega Man X” 1993, 1999 Game Boy Color (as “Mega Man Xtreme”), 2003 Gamecube (with “Mega Man X Collection”), 2008 Wii Virtual Console, 2013 Wii U Virtual Console, 2016 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. For the record, the "X" does NOT stand for ten in roman numerals; it is a reference to Mega Man's model type in this game. Although based on the original "Mega Man" games and design, "Mega Man X" is BIGGER, BETTER, FASTER, and STRONGER; a superior series that features a superior robot in "Mega Man X!" Set 100 years after the original "Mega Man," the game is set in a dystopian future where evil Robot Mavericks run amok, and they're led by the EVIL Sigma who wants to WIPE out the human race! Mega Man X must travel through nine stages of mayhem and monsters before he can breach Sigma's Fortress. A Rocking intro stage with rocking music, the Chill Penguin stage, the Storm Eagle stage with rocking music, the Spark Mandrill stage, the Armored Armadillo stage, the Flame Mammoth stage, the Launch Octopus stage, the Boomer Kuwanger stage, and the Chaos Chameleon stage. But Mega Man X experiences tragedy while storming through Sigma's fortress; his best friend Zero sacrifices HIS life in order to save X's! But this gives Mega Man X the incentive he needs to take out Vile and even the dreaded Sigma himself! By far, one of "Mega Man X's" best games EVER! Video Game score: 23/25!

N64!!!! 9. “F-Zero X” 1999, 2009 Wii Virtual Console, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. This game makes SURE there is NOTHING bland about this game as it takes racing to the TENTH level, hence the "X" in this game! Instead of only four different racers to choose from (like the first game), there are THIRTY racers to choose from! Every one of them is a unique racer, and each vehicle they race has its own unique strengths and weaknesses about its vehicle. Find out the best vehicle for your own personal taste by testing them out in time-trial mode, than race either solo, or with a friend, in every one of the games fast, furious, very DANGEROUS, exhilarating, and fun race courses! The challenge isn't JUST to finish in first, the challenge is to finish ALIVE! Every other car is trying to knock the OTHER cars OUT of the race, whittling down the competition, and improving their chances of being first! So if a car pushes yours, feel free to push back! But the best part of this game has GOT to be the inclusion of an "F-Zero" version of the Rainbow Road course from "Mario Kart 64!" This is definitely fun for multi-player sessions, and is challenging enough for solo players to enjoy! Video Game score: 23/25!

Game Boy Advance!!!! 9. “Donkey Kong Country 3” 2005, 2016 Wii U Virtual Console. Note that this entry doesn't refer to the Super NES version of the game, but to the Game Boy Advance version only. "DKC3" on the Game Boy Advance plays VERY well, it has great graphics, great control, great challenge, excellent music, cool sounds, and a wide variety of levels and stages to travel through! In addition to now being able to save ANYWHERE, the game makes it a LOT easier to save and rescue the Banana Birds. Whereas previously, the Banana Birds could only be kept safe as LONG as Diddy and Kiddy Kong didn't lose a LIFE until they could get back to the Great Banana Bird, the Banana Birds can now be kept safely at Wrinkly Kong's until the hero Kong's meet the Great Banana Bird much later in the game! Other brand new updates are two cool new bonus games! You get to do Kung Fu Karate Defense with Cranky Kong (training to get in shape for "Donkey Kong Country Returns: Tropical Freeze") and race down a LONG pipe maze (similar to the bonus stages of "Sonic the Hedgehog 2") trying to get to or above the number of bananas required for BEATING that bonus stage! The best part about this game is the fact, that not only is King K. Rool NOT the big bad in this game, he doesn't even make an appearance! It's a brand new villain called Dr. K. Rankenstein, who plans to unleash genetically modified Kremling havoc on Kong Island! This is a great legacy for Rare to have on the Game Boy Advance! Video Game score: 23/25!

Gamecube/Wii!!!! 9. “Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut” 2003 Gamecube, 2013 Wii U Virtual Console. Although this was the FIRST Sonic game on the Dreamcast, it was the SECOND Sonic game on the Gamecube. But out of BOTH the "Sonic Adventure" games, it's the Deluxe, Director's Cut version of "Sonic Adventure" on the Gamecube that ends up being the top game for Sonic playing in 3-D! In addition to being able to play as Sonic, it's also possible to play as Tails, Knuckles, Amy Rose, and new characters Big the Cat, and Robot E-102. Each character has different goals to accomplish, different places to access, and different ways that they are played. The graphics, music, sound, and game controls are ALL improved from the Dreamcast original, but what is most VASTLY improved are the CAMERA controls! They work! They ACTUALLY work like they're SUPPOSED to! They NEVER glitch, they never hiccup, they never FREEZE, and the LOADING times are GREATLY reduced from their Dreamcast days! In addition to the main game, their are brand new BONUS mission challenges to accomplish, the Chao Garden raising experience from "Sonic Adventure 2" is back, and the BEST part about this game is gaining the ability to unlock and play EVERY single Sonic and Tails game for the Game Gear EVER made, making this game a WORTHY addition to the Nintendo Gamecube collection of ANY video game player! Video Game score: 23/25!

Nintendo DS!!!! 9. “Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver” 2010, 2015 Wii U Virtual Console. It's AMAZING how much more impressive the Nintendo DS updates are compared with the Game Boy Color originals! While the Game Boy Color originals were impressive with its ability for players to clock in over 200 hours of game play EASILY; the Nintendo DS re-makes completely blows THAT amount of game-play out of the water, with over 999 hours of game play EASILY!!!! Featuring updated graphics, updated control options, upgraded music, sound, challenges, and a plethora of different things to collect and do, the games makes sure you're never at a lack of things to try and do, as you level up the wild Pokemon you catch, and catch a number of many different ones as well. This is relatively easy to do, thanks to the inclusion of the Poke-Walker with each game. With the Poke-Walker, it becomes possible to take a Pokemon from the game, transfer it to the Poke-Walker, and take your Pokemon on a walk with you. There's a good reason to want to go for a walk with a Poke-Walker. While on a Walk, it's possible to find and catch some rare Pokemon that are hard to come by in the actual game; as well as get rare items! And the best part is, up to three caught Pokemon and three held items can be held on the Poke-Walker at any given time, and they can all be transferred back to the main game. Also new to this game, is the Poke-athalon. With contests of speed, power, skill, stamina, and jumping, it features brand new mini-games designed to test the different strengths and abilities of each Pokemon. Not only do they win awards for the best performance, you also win athlete points, which can be used to redeem RARE items; like the ever popular RARE Candy, and the PREVIOUSLY find-only item of PP Up, making it possible to FINALLY redeem PP Up with Athlete Points! Plus the fact that you can now catch Pokemon from four different regions on this game, make these games ones that are well-worth playing! Video Game score: 23/25!

Nintendo 3DS!!!! 9. “Super Street Fighter IV 3D” 2011. For 20 years (24 if you count the ORIGINAL "Street Fighter" game for arcade systems) the "Street Fighter" video game series was very content to have sprite based fighter and stick to 2D based art stages. In 2011, the "Street Fighter" series broke its way into THREE dimensions! There are more characters to choose from then ever, many speeds and difficulty settings to choose from, and the bonus stages from "Street Fighter II" even make a return appearance in this game! Every character has unique strengths and weaknesses, and understanding them will be key to beating every opponent your character fights. Thankfully, the option to input certain combos to the touch screen (up to four) and use them any time your fighting gauge will allow, will give even beginning players a fair chance to beat elite masters! Launch games for video game systems don't get more high profile than this, and this is definitely a good game to get started on for the Nintendo 3DS! Video Game score: 23/25! /

NES!!!! 8. “Donkey Kong Jr.” 1986, 2004 Game Boy Advance, 2007 Wii Virtual Console, 2012 Wii U Virtual Console and Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. Contrary to popular belief, Nintendo hasn't ALWAYS relied on the face and brand of Mario to sell video games, and Mario hasn't ALWAYS been the good guy! Believe it or not, Mario HAS been the villain once, in THIS game! Still mad about the whole Pauline kidnapping thing, Mario has captured Donkey Kong and is holding him up against his will! Thankfully, Donkey Kong has a vine-climbing, jumping, fruit-dropping son to come save him from Mario's torment! While "Donkey Kong" was notorious for being MIND-NUMBINGLY difficult, "Donkey Kong Jr." has a more forgiving difficulty level climb. The difficulty rises GRADUALLY rather than RAPIDLY like its predecessor did. But don't let that mislead you. Because it can get PRETTY hard the farther and longer a player lasts in the game! A simple, but challenging game, it comes as little surprise how this game has managed to stay challenging for more than 34 years and stay fresh and challenging for new generations! Video Game score: 93/100!

Game Boy/Game Boy Color!!!! 8. “Mega Man Xtreme 2” 2001 Game Boy Color, 2014 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. What many people don't realize about Mega Man's portable video game outings (on the Game Boy) is the fact that MOST of them are actually level REMIXES of the NES originals! That is, the "Mega Man" game on the Game Boy (for example, "Mega Man III") actually takes FOUR stages from the NES version of "Mega Man III" and four stages from the NES version of "Mega Man IV!" When "Mega Man Xtreme" was designed to do the same thing for the "Mega Man X" series from the Super NES on the Game Boy Color, it followed the same pattern. However, the second (and sadly last) iteration in this series takes a divergence. It takes two stages from "Mega Man X," 4 stages from "Mega Man X2," and 2 stages from "Mega Man X3." If that wasn't enough, this game has an original plot not TAKEN from the "Mega Man X" games, with two new villains (serving Sigma, of course), and the ability to play as either Zero or X, a feature not available in the first game, but both robots have different fighting styles! This game features great graphics, great music, great controls, and a great challenge! Video Game score: 93/100!

Super NES!!!! 8. “Final Fantasy Mystical Quest” 1992, 2008 Wii Virtual Console, 2012 Wii U Virtual Console, 2016 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. Back in the early 1990's, "Final Fantasy" WASN'T the universally recognized name brand it is today. Nintendo wanted to change that, so they requested for Squaresoft (who was a second-party developer for Nintendo at the time) to come up with a new, EASY type of R.P.G. for NEW, inexperienced gamers to try their skills on. After doing some thinking and tinkering, Squaresoft came up with THIS gem! Unlike their OTHER R.P.G. outings, there are NO random monster fights in THIS video game, every monster and boss that appears in this game, does so first as a small sprite representation, than as a pretty good 16-bit art-job interpretation of a monster in the actual fights. The story focuses on Benjamin, a knight, who with the help of four OTHER warriors (Leila, Tristam, Phoebe, and Reuben, who come and go at various points in this game to help Benjamin restore the four elemental crystals to their rightful place in the Tower of Elements. Although the game is a 'simplified' R.P.G., that does NOT mean the amount of game-play is lessened. Depending on a person's experience, a good, solid 20-40 hours of game-play can be had from this game, so it can definitely pay for itself! Perfect for people who want to know what R.P.G. games are all about! Video Game score: 93/100!

N64!!!! 8. “Banjo-Kazooie/Banjo-Tooie” 1998 and 2000. Perhaps no other pair of games available for the N64, show the true quality and cuteness that Rare is well-known for, than THESE two games! Nintendo KNEW what Rare was good at, and what their best strengths were! Making entertaining platform games was one of them! In “Banjo-Kazooie,” the evil witch Gruntilda, wanting to become beautiful, has decided to kidnap Banjo the Bear's LOVELY younger sister, Tootie! And once Klungo completes his Beauty Extracting/Transfering Machine, Gruntilda plans to use it to transfer Tootie's beauty from Tootie to Gruntilda! Banjo is NOT going to allow THAT to happen, so he and his pal Kazooie must travel through many different challenging levels and confront all the different obstacles! Along the way, Banjo will also need to transform into various different things. Each level will often have a Mumbo Jumbo Skull House which Banjo will need to visit; and upon paying Mumbo currency (Mumbo tokens) Mumbo will transform Banjo into a unique creature transformation capable of helping Banjo get through a difficult part of a level or accessing places Banjo can't reach normally. It's recommended (but not required) for Banjo to find 100 notes in every level, five Jinjo's in every level, and 100 Jiggies (puzzle pieces) hidden throughout the game! The biggest secret ABOUT this game, is the fact that Rare managed to keep SOME of it secret until it was about to LEAVE Nintendo! By putting in special codes inside of the sand beach castle in the second level, its ACTUALLY possible to collect all the different colored eggs, and the ice key, as seen in the easter egg ending of the game! In “Banjo-Tooie,” it keeps ALL the same moves from the LAST game, and introduces MANY new ones; it has Banjo the Bear and Kazooie the Bird facing off against Gruntilda AGAIN, back as an undead skeleton and teaming up with her TWO wicked sisters to get revenge against the heroic duo! Upon killing the duo's beloved friend, Bottles the Mole, Banjo and Kazooie must fight against the perils Gruntilda has put up; both together AND solo! For the first time, Banjo and Kazooie will need to separate in order to accomplish different tasks and try to collect all 100 notes in each level, all five Jinjo's (multi-colored creature things) in each level, and all 100 Jiggies (Puzzle Pieces) in the game, in order to open the way through the game and to the final show-down against Gruntilda! Players will even get to control Witch Doctor Mumbo Jumbo, who can cast spells that will help Banjo and Kazooie get to certain places! And with the impending release of the upcoming Nintendo Switch system, there are now some reports that Rare is SERIOUSLY thinking about coming back to work for Nintendo! Keep your fingers crossed in 2017! Video Game scores: 93/100!

Game Boy Advance!!!! 8. “Mario and Luigi: the Superstar Saga” 2003, 2013 Wii U Virtual Console. Nintendo proved that Mario could have VERY good R.P.G. games on the hardware systems available from Nintendo, but people wondered if they could duplicate the same kind of success on the Game Boy Advance. Nintendo proved once again, that they knew how to make lightning strike where it counted! This game has GREAT graphics, great sound, great controls, good music, and excellent challenge! With the help of Alpha Team, Nintendo crafted a very epic, very original, and very FUNNY script for Mario AND Luigi to go on! As is the case with "Super Mario R.P.G.", Bowser isn't the BIG bad this time around! In fact, he gets STRUCK with amnesia and is convinced that he's an aspiring villain wanna-be for most of the game! Instead, the Big Bad this time is the EVIL Creepella, who with the help of her EPIC quotable side-kick Fawful, plans to STEAL Princess Peach's voice, only with SURPRISINGLY explosive results! Not only do Mario and Luigi explore an incredible NEW land called the Bean-Bean Kingdom, they will have to WORK together and co-ordinate their attacks in order to take down enemies and bring down bosses! Not only is THIS game GREAT, but all four sequels (so far) that carry the "Mario & Luigi" name have managed to do EVEN better! Video Game score: 93/100!

Gamecube/Wii!!!! 8. “Sonic Heroes” 2004 Gamecube, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. The last hurrah for Sonic for a good game for four years, Sonic's third 3-D outing on the Gamecube (as well as his ONLY original outing on the system), the third "Sonic" adventure on the Gamecube, is in MY personal opinion, his BEST! Not only do you get to play as SONIC, you get to play with eleven OTHER Sonic characters! The team system is not only a good idea, it is a FANTASTIC idea! The ability to control three characters at a time, and be able to switch them on the fly, makes solving puzzles a breeze. Not to mention that you get to fly, break stuff, and run at super speeds! There's Team Sonic, Team Rose, Team Chaotix, and Team Dark, featuring Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles; Amy, Cream, and Big the Cat; Espio, Vector, and Charmy the Bee; and Shadow, Rouge, and E-120 Omega respectively. But the really unique thing about this game, is that Dr. Eggman is not the big BAD in this game! Only by collecting all seven Chaos Emeralds (with any team) and by beating ALL four story-lines, will you get to discover that the Big Bad is actually Metal Sonic, who undergoes his most POWERFUL transformation that he's EVER undertaken! It culminates in a titanic battle against Metal Sonic monstrosity, with Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles transforming into their SUPER forms, in order to put Metal Sonic right back into the scrap heap! It is for this reason, that I feel like it is this game, may be the closest thing the world HAS to a "Sonic Adventure 3" right now. Maybe someday, there may actually be one. For now, this game can't be BEAT for a 3-D Sonic outing! Video Game score: 93/100!

Nintendo DS!!!! 8. “Super Mario 64 DS” 2004, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. With the re-release of "Super Mario 64" on the Nintendo DS as a launch game, everyone expected that Nintendo would just simply re-hash the exact same game and shrink it down to fit for their portable system. Instead, they got something MUCH better! Not only does this game have BETTER graphics, new levels, more STARS to collect, and brand new fun bonus games to play, you get to play as FOUR different characters! Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and Wario! Although only Mario gets to trounce Bowser, that's a small gripe in an otherwise stellar game! In addition to Mario being able to fly through the air with a winged cap, Luigi being able to turn invisible with an Invisibility cap, and Wario being able to turn metal with a metal cap, Mario can also float through the air with a flower power-up, and temporarily turn GIANT with the help of a power mushroom! In addition to many of the same great challenges from the original game, there are also some brand new ones, which keeps this game interesting and brand NEW!!!! So this version of a great game is one that is well worth checking out! Video Game score: 93/100!

Nintendo 3DS!!!! 8. “Super Mario 3D Land” 2011. Prior to the release of the Nintendo 3DS, there were only two REAL "Super Mario Land" games. "Super Mario Land," and "Super Mario Land II: Six Golden Coins." ("Wario Land: Super Mario Land III" doesn't count because you can only play as Wario, not Mario.) After a 19 year hiatus, however, the "Super Mario Land" video game series FINALLY resurfaced, and in the third dimension no less! This game combines elements of "Super Mario Bros. 3," "Super Mario 64," and "New Super Mario Bros." together, in order to create a game that is on one hand, familiar, and on the other hand, a completely brand new experience on the hand-held (and, in my honest opinion, does a MUCH better job than it's slightly older sibling, "New Super Mario Bros. 2"!) It takes a lot for a platform game to satisfy my high standards of quality, in terms of challenge, originality, accessibility, good graphics, control, and video game entertainment. This game excels on all levels, just like a good game of the Mario caliber should! This game definitely goes to show that even 30 years after his original debut, the Mario brand and name is STILL going strong! Play this game and see the proof! Video Game score: 93/100! /

NES!!!! 7. “Super Mario Bros.” 1985, 1993 Super NES (with “Super Mario All-Stars”), 2004 Game Boy Advance, 2010 Wii (with “Super Mario Bros. 25th Anniversary Edition of Super Mario All-Stars.”), 2012 Wii U Virtual Console and Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. Come on!!!! We ALL knew this game HAD to come up sooner or later! So why isn't this game ranked higher? It doesn't have as much variety or deeper levels of challenge some other games have, though not from a lack of trying! There are many people today who don't realize how VITAL this game was! After the Atari crash of 1982, this game and the NES LITERALLY saved video games from becoming extinct! This game itself (packaged with the system), ended up selling over TEN MILLION copies and became the BEST selling video game in history by 1989!...until it was FINALLY unseated by Nintendo's own "Wii Sports" packaged with the Wii in 2012; but 2nd place is STILL lofty! Anyone who knows ANYTHING about Mario games know all the good early staples got introduced here, a scoring system, kidnapped Toads, a Princess in distress, and a video game with a THEN unprecedented amount of length! It was at least FOUR times longer than MOST games had been up to that point! It created the new standard for video games! As such, it has managed to maintain its iconic, unique platform feel, which forever cemented video games in its rightful place in pop culture history! Video Game score: 47/50!

Game Boy/Game Boy Color!!!! 7. “Super Mario Land II: Six Golden Coins” 1992 Game Boy, 2011 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. What "Super Mario Bros. 3" did for the Mario series on the NES, this game did for the Mario series on the Game Boy. That is, the game managed to BE bigger, play better, loved more, have a greater variety in challenges, obstacles, and enemies, and sell WAY better than its predecessor! As the second game in the "Super Mario Land" series (and OFFICIALLY the last, until "Super Mario 3D Land" came out many years later), this game manages to have more graphically in common (both in terms of looks, stage layout, and enemies) with the "Super Mario Bros." games than the first "Super Mario Land" did! The object of this game is to collect Six Golden Coins, which Mario needs in order to open his way BACK into his castle, which his WICKED doppelganger Wario, has taken over! On the way, Mario gets to fight underwater, in a Haunted House area, inside a GIANT mechanical Mario, inside a giant tree, inside a giant house, this game even allowed Mario to go into outer space for the first time (WAY before "Super Mario Galaxy" came up with the idea.) With all these great things going for it, this game EASILY managed to top the lists of MANY best selling Game Boy game lists, exceeded only by a few! Video Game score: 47/50!

Super NES!!!! 7. “Aero the Acro-Bat” 1993, 2003 Game Boy Advance, 2008 Wii Virtual Console, 2013 Wii U Virtual Console, 2016 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. Potential mascot characters during the 1990's were not only diverse, they were often versatile as well! One such great example is the 1993 platformer known as Aero the Acro-Bat! Not only is Aero an actual Bat, he happens to be a performing AcroBAT as well! Making the game's title work on two different levels! An evil clown is threatening the safety of Aero's fellow circus performers, not to mention the circus animals (treated VERY well and humanely) and Aero needs to put a stop to it! Although every level and stage is a riff on the circus, each stage is done VERY well, and the game NEVER feels like it repeats itself! The challenge is very solid, the graphics, control, and music are great staples of the 16 bit era; and as an interesting side-note, it was actually THIS video game, NOT "Harry Potter", that FIRST came up with the Golden Snitch! In this case, the Golden Snitch is a RARE power-up that allows Aero to freely fly ANYWHERE for a temporary amount of time, and reach places where Aero normally couldn't reach otherwise! Aero is a solid platformer on either the Super Nes OR the Game Boy Advance, either version worthy of tracking down and playing! Video Game score: 47/50!

N64!!!! 7. “Star Wars: Shadow of the Empire” 1996, 2010 Wii Virtual Console, 2015 Wii U Virtual Console. Before the prequel series came along and bitterly divided fans of the "Star Wars" franchise, this game was released in the mid-1990's to critical acclaim and financial success! Coinciding with a popular book and Dark Horse Comic Book series of the same name, this game covers the events between "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi" quite well. Playing as Hero for Hire/Rebel Smuggler Dash Rendar, the ace pilot/gun shooter is initially asked to aid the Rebels as they try to escape from the onslaught of the Empire on Hoth, but soon finds himself in a much BIGGER quest! It turns out Darth Vader isn't the only villain trying to rule the galaxy; an alien named Prince Xizor has his eyes set on REPLACING Darth Vader as Emperor Palpatine's right-hand man, and has conceived of a brilliant, EVIL scheme to make it all possible! Prince Xizor plans to have Luke Skywalker killed! When an evil gang of bikers fails to do the job, Prince Xizor KIDNAPS Princess Leia and holds her hostage, in order to lure Luke Skywalker into a trap! Dash Rendar will travel to some familiar locales (as well as a few new ones) in order to fight against BOTH the evil Empire, and Prince Xizor's EVIL Black Sun Syndicate, a crime organization which is FAR more expansive than Jabba the Hutt's! There are five different difficulty levels; Easy, Normal, Hard, Very Hard, and Jedi! Only by beating the game on Normal Level or HARDER, can the true ending of the game be seen! This game was an early, but WORTHY addition to the N64 line-up, featured as FOUR variant subscriber bonus issue covers of the January 1997 issue of Nintendo Power! This is a solid game! Video Game score: 47/50!

Game Boy Advance!!!! 7. “Earthworm Jim” 2001, 2007 Nintendo DSI Download Game and Wii Virtual Console, 2012 Wii U Virtual Console, 2016 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. Note that this only refers to THIS version of “Earthworm Jim” and not ANY version that appeared, prior to THIS one! Not only does this game feature the SAME smooth controls, graphics, music, hilarious sounds and voice samples, awesomely designed stages, and a variety of enemies to fight (including some hilariously designed bosses) this game features off-beat, surreal humor hard to find in many other games! Even better about this game, is the fact that THIS version of the game has a brand NEW level exclusive to the Game Boy Advance that WASN'T available on the Super NES. Also, there are now THREE difficulty levels instead of just two, and the ability to save ANYWHERE in the game is a nice new update. Also worth playing are the versions available on the Nintendo DSI download, Wii Virtual Console, and the Wii U Virtual Console. Video Game score: 47/50!

Gamecube/Wii!!!! 7. “Dragonball Z Budokai” 2002 Gamecube, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. Awesome, awesome, awesome...did I mention this game is AWESOME?! The first major "Dragonball Z" game to grace a Nintendo home console system, this game is 9,000 kinds of awesome. (Vegeta: "It's over 9,000!!!!") Sorry! Couldn't resist throwing THAT joke in there! Not only does this game cover events from the beginning of the Saiyans Saga to the end of the Cell Games Saga, it also features a Tournament Mode, Story Mode, and a What-If Story Mode for Vegeta, Freeza, and Cell. This game is AWESOME for showing the fighting skills of the Z fighters, full with the actual English voice actors reprising their roles for this game! This is by FAR, one of the best fighting games available on the Gamecube! Video Game score: 47/50!

Nintendo DS!!!! 7. “Dragonball Origins” 2008, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. This game successfully covers the "Dragonball" story, from the beginning of the Emperor Pilaf Saga, to the end of the Master Roshi World Tournament Saga, and even throws in a few surprises for fans of the Anime and the Manga! This game has GREAT graphics, great music, great sound, great controls, a great story (written by Japanese great Akira Toriyama and DESIGNED by him as well), and a great difficulty learning curve as well. By taking the time to explore each area and vanquishing each foe, the game never feels too overwhelming, and it has all the humor one would expect from the great "Dragonball" cartoon series. If you have ever wanted to enjoy playing the story of "Dragonball" on the go, this Nintendo DS game is the best way to do it! Video Game score: 47/50!

Nintendo 3DS!!!! 7. “Paper Mario Sticker Star” 2012. I'm probably going to come across as biased for saying this, but I'm a big fan of this game! I know this is going to cause some confusion because as far as the "Paper Mario" video game series go, this entry is kind of polarizing. Not in the same way "Super Paper Mario" was, but this game disposed of the usual R.P.G. leveling up system prevalent in the prior "Paper Mario" games. Although I have heard a lot of people be critical about this game for that reason, I actually APPLAUD Nintendo for this decision! The Sticker system means that Mario utilizes stickers in order to attack! Although Mario initially has only one page of stickers to work with, he can earn up to eight pages! But even then, the limited amount of space for stickers, means that Mario will have to pick and choose the best stickers to bring into any battle, and figure out the best way to use them for any situation! The real reason I like this game though, is that unlike FAR too many R.P.G. games today, it does not 'hold your hand.' You have to figure out many of the puzzles throughout the game on your own. I personally LOVE a video game challenge that lets me utilize MORE than the same 10% of my brain that I use for most other games! Maybe this game isn't like the other "Paper Mario" games, but that doesn't make it any less worth playing! I suggest giving this game a try! You might be pleasantly surprised! Video Game score: 47/50! /

NES!!!! 6. “Mega Man VI” (What else?!) 1994, 2002 Gamecube (with “Mega Man Anniversary Collection”), 2007 Wii Virtual Console, 2012 Wii U Virtual Console, 2016 Nintendo 3DS (with “Mega Man Classics Collection”). There are times that when a video game comes out near the end of a video-game system's production time, it means that the game is not very good, or if it is part of a series, it will rest on the laurels of the past accomplishments of its older siblings. Not the case for this game, because Capcom pulled out ALL the stops for the Blue Bomber's last 8-bit home console outing (until "Mega Man 9" came out for the Wii 15 years later.) The graphics, music, challenge, and variety of different stages to tackle is among the BEST in "Mega Man's" video game catalog. Introduced in this game is Mega Man's NEW ability to FUSE with Rush and become even STRONGER than he was before! Not to mention, that this "Mega Man" game managed to do fan service RIGHT! Capcom held a contest in 1992 for two lucky people to have one of their monsters appear in a future "Mega Man" game! The lucky monsters were Yamato Man (a Samurai robot), and Centaur Man, a Centaur Robot! This game was the perfect way for the NES to close out ten years of supreme, video game development! Video Game score: 19/20!

Game Boy Color!!!! 6. “The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX” 1998, 2011 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. One of the more OBVIOUS choices for this list, goes to Link's first full-fledged outing on a portable system! Link manages to IMPRESS the first time he was in a full-length game on a portable system. It was a very impressive feat in itself, to take the look and feel of both "The Legend of Zelda," and "The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past," and manage to shrink it down to fit on the Game Boy (and again on the Game Boy Color!) The "DX" version is graphically improved with better sounds and controls, it contains unique artwork not available in the original, and it contains a brand new dungeon EXCLUSIVE to the Game Boy Color version of this game. Featuring a unique cast of characters such as Marin, Tarin, Facade, owl Kaepora Gaebora, and the Wind Fish, the BIGGEST shocker has to be when Link finds out that Koholint Island is just a dream of the Wind Fish!!!! If you haven't played the game, I'm sorry, but the statute for NOT spoiling that ending ran out YEARS ago! In any case, the dungeons have a great layout, the enemies and obstacles are fine staples for the "Zelda" series, and even though the ending is a little bitter-sweet, it's still a GREAT game to play from beginning to end! That's why this game remains a popular favorite in the "Zelda" video game series. Video Game score: 19/20!

Super NES!!!! 6. “Super Mario World” 1991, 2002 Game Boy Advance (as “Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World”), 2007 Wii Virtual Console, 2012 Wii U Virtual Console, 2016, Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. After Sega revealed their competitive video game mascot named Sonic, Nintendo needed a way to announce to Sega that Nintendo ALSO had a 16-bit system, and it was about to enter with a BANG!!!! After nearly a full year of incubation in Japan, the Super Nintendo got its American debut on August 27, 1991 (the same day as my birthday!) and it debuted with a ROAR!!!! If there was ANYONE doubting if "Super Mario World" could TOP "Super Mario Bros. 3" AND "Sonic the Hedgehog," Nintendo's resounding answer was: "Yes, it WILL!" A stellar example of 16-bit graphics, music, and control, "Super Mario World" not only does a good job of staying true to the Mario platform game formula, it also enhances Mario's abilities! Mario can now perform spin jumps and break yellow blocks, throw koopa shells and ice blocks UP, float in the air with a P-balloon, turn enemies into silver coins with a gray P-switch, climb on fence walls (and sometimes run UP walls,) fly with a cape, and then SOAR down to the ground to deliver a great GROUND pound, knocking off and/or over many enemies! But the best part of this game has DEFINITELY got to be the introduction of Mario's loyal dinosaur pal, Yoshi! Yoshi can lick up many enemies, ice blocks, power-ups, and apples, swallow them, and each enemy that Yoshi swallows, equals another coin in Mario's coin collection! Different colored Yoshi's also have different abilities when it comes to swallowing koopa shells! The red Yoshi ALWAYS spits fireballs after inhaling a koopa shell, the yellow Yoshi always does a shocking GROUND pound and knocks down nearby enemies after inhaling a koopa shell, and the Blue Yoshi always FLIES after inhaling a koopa shell! With nine different levels to explore, and 96 different course exits to find, this game has a LOT of re-play value! But that value can be extended even FURTHER, by completing the eight "Special" stages! By doing so, Mario can change the way all the levels look, and some enemies will CHANGE the way they look in each stage! Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi must battle their way against Bowser's 1st 7 Koopa Kids, and finally Bowser himself, debuting his signature flying clown helicopter, who has both trapped Yoshi's friends in eggs, and kidnapped Princess Peach (Toadstool) again! This game PROVED Nintendo WAS, IS, and WOULD continue to be a video game powerhouse, no matter WHAT console they came out with! Video Game score: 19/20!

N64!!!! 6. “Star Fox 64” 1997, 2007 Wii Virtual Console, 2011 Nintendo 3DS (as “Star Fox 64 3D”), 2012 Wii U Virtual Console. As far as video game sequels go, a lot of them STRIVE to be better than their predecessor, but few manage to do as EXCEPTIONALLY well as THIS one! While this game has pretty much the same story-line and plot as the original "Star Fox," the execution is pulled off a LOT better on the N64 as it has BETTER controls, BETTER sounds, BETTER graphics, BETTER balanced challenge, BETTER music, and some new tricks and techniques are introduced also! Playing as ace pilot Fox McCloud, the Star Fox team is commanded by General Pepper into duty; their mission is to protect the Lylat system against the evil Ape Genius Scientist named Andross, and his invading Venomian army! Featuring 16 different worlds with 24 different paths to choose from (two of them secret!) Fox and his fellow pilots Falco Lombardi, Peppy Hare, Slippy Toad (and occasionally helped by Bill the Dog and Katt the Cat), the Star Fox team must battle through Seven different worlds in one game playthrough, with Corneria ALWAYS being the starting planet, and Venom as the ending planet (although Venom is divided as two separate levels, depending on the path TAKEN to get to Venom). Players CAN take the EASIER paths to beat the game, but only by CHOOSING the harder paths, and beating Andross in his TRUE form, can the TRUE ending of the game be seen! Plus, by earning a medal by shooting down ALL or MORE of the recommended amount of enemies in each level (except for the easy version of Venom), can an even HARDER version of the game be unlocked, with more enemies to fight and greater DAMAGE to the player's Arwings! When it comes to exhilarating space shooters, it's hard to get more exciting than THIS game! And that's what makes this game so GREAT! Video Game score: 19/20!

Game Boy Advance!!!! 6. “Crash Bandicoot 2: N-Tranced” 2003 Game Boy Advance, 2013 Wii U Virtual Console. I find it simply AMAZING the amount of quality between the FIRST "Crash Bandicoot" game for the Game Boy Advance compared to the second one; it is LITERALLY the difference between night and day! It's like the things that were a problem for the FIRST game, have BOTH been eliminated, and REPLACED with their exact opposites! "Crash Bandicoot 2: N-Tranced," was a PERFECT way for Crash Bandicoot to improve his game playing ability in every single way possible! Not only does it feature better controls, better sound, better music, improved graphics, and a better difficulty level, the stages are longer as well, there are more stages to beat, and the bonus stage is VASTLY improved over the first Game Boy Advance games! Instead of Neo Cortex, Crash has to battle against two NEW enemies; N-Trophy, and N-Tranced! Hence the name of the game! His second outing on the Game Boy Advance remains a masterpiece to be played! Video Game score: 19/20!

Gamecube/Wii!!!! 6. “Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkai'ichi 2” 2006 Wii. This game is AWESOME, in that it lets you fight through ALL of "Dragonball Z," including many of the animated movies, and it even lets you fight through a modified version of "Dragonball GT." If that weren't enough, there are interesting fight challenges you can tackle, by beating a certain set of opponents in a certain order, collecting Dragonballs in order to unlock goodies or get secret stuff, unlocking characters by completing story events, and even MORE cool What-If story mode featuring Raditz, Zarbon, and the Supreme Kai! Someday, I hope to get around to playing "Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkai'ichi 3" for the Wii, to see if THAT game is even more amazing! But for now, I have to say that this game that I have played, is TOTALLY amazing!!!! Video Game score: 19/20!

Nintendo DS!!!! 6. “Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story” 2009, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. After the slight stumble that was "Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time," Nintendo and Alpha Dream teamed up, and got back to what made Mario and Luigi popular, pokeing fun at many of their own plot cliches and even at Nintendo itself in general! This time, Mario and Luigi are faced off against a REALLY dangerous foe; not Bowser, but FAWFUL!!!! That's right! The former minion of Cracklella is back to wreak havoc, and he's got a large army to do it with! Not only that, but he proves himself to be FAR more competant at causing destruction than Bowser is! Mario and Luigi would put a stop to Fawful's plans, but unfortunately, they're somewhat indisposed...inside of BOWSER!!!! Thanks to a cursed mushroom, Bowser has swallowed the Mario Brothers and other various objects of the Mushroom Kingdom inside of himself! In order to get out of Bowser and stop Fawful once and for all, Mario and Luigi will actually have to explore INSIDE of Bowser (hence the name of the game) and actually USE Bowser as a tool of sorts in order for Bowser to beat up BADDER bad guys and indirectly HELP the Mario Brothers get rid of Fawful's evil, as well as Bowser's new rival, Midbus! In addition to the great graphics, great music, great sound, great controls, great story, and great difficulty level present in this game, it also contains a LOT of the great humor the "Mario and Luigi" R.P.G. series is well known for. This game is DEFINITELY worth checking out! Video Game score: 19/20!

Nintendo 3DS!!!! 6. “Animal Crossing: New Leaf” 2012. I admit that when this game first came out, I was a little scared. Not of the game itself, but by the concept it presented. Being the Mayor of the entire town you moved to and then having to successfully RUN that town?! I was nervous, I had my doubts. But as it turns out, I never should have worried, because Nintendo proved once again, that it knew what it was doing! The ability to customize your town into turning out pretty much any way you want, makes towns more unique than ever! Not only does the collection aspect of catching many different types of bugs, fishes, fossils, and artwork return, there's now the brand new feature of being able to actually SWIM in the ocean and dive for NEW sea creatures that have never been available before! And the ability to travel to a tropical island, a feature from the original "Animal Crossing" game, returns and is completely revamped to feature special activities that allow you to earn items, bugs, and fishes that can't be found on the main-land! And you can now even customize the way your character looks, in terms of hairstyle and facial appearance! I highly recommend it to players who want a unique video game experience, they can't find anywhere else! Video Game score: 19/20! /

NES!!!! 5. “Mega Man V” (What else?!) 1992, 2002 Gamecube (with “Mega Man Anniversary Collection”), 2007 Wii Virtual Console, 2012 Wii U Virtual Console, 2016 Nintendo 3DS (with “Mega Man Classics Collection”). Out of all the NES "Mega Man" games, this is the EASIEST! The difficulty level is FAR more forgiving and balanced than in the five other NES "Mega Man" offerings. The story is really riveting by 8-bit standards to! Proto Man seems to have 'Gone rogue,' kidnapping Dr. Light and forcing Mega Man to fight against eight powerful Robot Masters, including the iconic Bright Man, Crystal Man, and Gravity Man! The Robot Masters are among the best that "Mega Man" has to offer, and the stages are well-designed WITHOUT being TOO difficult to beat, and the ability to use the Mega Buster is a great help to! That's why this "Mega Man" game ranks the best out of ALL the NES "Mega Man" games! Video Game score: 24/25!

Game Boy Color!!!! 5. “Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal” 2000, 2001 N64 (compatible with “Pokemon Stadium 2”). Despite the enhanced abilities of the Game Boy Color compared to the original Game Boy, the tiny 12-bit powerhouse was beginning to get a little long in the tooth by the time Y2K came and went without a glitch. Many people wondered if the system STILL had any relevance to it when it came to games made in the 21st century. The over-whelming answer was that YES; there was STILL life to be had in the Game Boy Color! Among the LONGEST length games in the Game Boy Color catalog, "Pokemon Gold and Silver" managed to accomplish the IMPOSSIBLE; they UPPED the ante of the ORIGINAL "Pokemon" games! In the originals, there were only 150 to catch and 8 gyms to beat! In "Generation II," there were 250 to catch and 16 gyms to beat! In addition to highlighting the capabilities of the Game Boy Color, "Pokemon Gold and Silver" did a good job of adding new features to the "Pokemon" game world. In the original, only TWO Pokemon had distinct genders (the Nidoran evolution line), but in this game, nearly ALL the Pokemon had distinct genders, and they could even make EGGS/Baby Pokemon, impossible to catch otherwise! Another nice feature, is that Pokemon could now HOLD an item when they went to battle, very helpful in saving Pokemon in a pinch. And new HM moves were introduced, the helpful Whirlpool and Waterfall, which helped players access places that would otherwise remain blocked off. But the COOLEST new feature was the introduction of SHINY Pokemon; that is, Pokemon that appeared in RARE colors, with better stats and features than normal Pokemon, such as the mighty red Gyrados! With all these features, its little wonder how these games managed to out-perform and out-sell their predecessors on every level! The “Crystal” version is REALLY special, as players could CHOOSE to play as either a boy OR a girl, so that there wasn't just ONE avatar choice to choose from! Also, the graphics and music are even MORE impressive on "Pokemon Crystal" (especially on the Game Boy Advance) and there's a brand NEW quest, where it makes it a LOT easier to catch Suicune (who previously only appeared rarely and VERY randomly in "Gold and Silver." Also introduced were new SPECIAL days in "Pokemon," where special bargains were offered in shops, and certain Pokemon became easier to catch. "Pokemon Crystal" was the FIRST "Pokemon" game to keep REAL-time track of the days and months that this game was played in, resulting in a richer, more believable gaming experience! Video Game score: 24/25!

Super NES!!!! 5. “Secret of Mana” 1993, 2008 Wii Virtual Console, 2013 Wii U Virtual Console, 2016 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. The 1990's was a transitional time for R.P.G. video games. They changed from being almost unbearably hard, relatively short quests, to becoming long, engaging epic games that actually got gradually harder as the game went along! This game is also kind of strange, in the fact that it is NOT strictly a platform, and NOT strictly an R.P.G., but rather, a WINNING mixture of BOTH!!!! There are three main characters that a player (or three players!) can play in this game, who stay throughout the game pretty much all the way through it! Not only do the characters level up, gaining health and magic points as their levels get higher, various OTHER stats get higher the more the characters battle! There are eight basic weapons, and eight elemental spell types to choose from! The weapons and elemental spell types can ALSO get stronger just like the characters do; but the characters must fight boss characters and find elemental seeds in order to make it happen! For every boss encounter the characters have, each boss will drop behind one weapon orb, for either the sword, spear, bow, boomerang, axe, gloves, whip, or javelin; (more rarely, orbs will be located in treasure chests or dropped behind by normal enemies)! By taking the orbs to Watts the Blacksmith, Watts can REFORGE the weapons and make them STRONGER! By finding all eight elements, and activating the seeds, located in temples across the vast realm of this game, the characters can learn NEW spells and gain NEW abilities! There are many different landscapes to roam through, many different types of enemies to fight, and there is no shortage of great music, great graphics, great control, or great challenge in this game! The amount of game-play can EASILY range anywhere from about 40-80 hours EASILY, which is why this game is nothing SHORT of a masterpiece! Video Game score: 24/25!

N64!!!! 5. “Paper Mario” 2001, 2007 Wii Virtual Console, 2012 Wii U Virtual Console. Nintendo's first R.P.G. outing with Mario since "Super Mario R.P.G.," "Paper Mario" turned out to be a charming, adventurous, and strangely epic outing that turned out to be one of Mario's FINAL outings on a cartridge game! The characters may be flat, but the action and story are REALLY deep! Bowser has taken kidnapping Princess Peach to a WHOLE new level, as he doesn't JUST kidnap the Princess, he kidnaps her ENTIRE castle as well! Mario sets to trounce Bowser again; only to learn a GRIM secret! Bowser has found a way to make himself IMPERVIOUS to Mario's attacks, to the point where he is virtually invincible; thanks to the help of a magic item known as the Star Rod, which can grant wishes! Bowser uses the Star Rod to do what he has NEVER been able to do before; BEAT Mario to a PULP!!!! But Bowser CAN'T keep a good plumber down; because Mario eventually gets back in the game, and decides to find a way to BEAT Bowser's new scheme, no matter HOW hard it is! To do that, Mario will need the help of eight partners; Goombario the Goomba, Kooper the Koopa, Bombette the Bob-omb, ParaKerry the Para-Koopa, Bow the Boo, Watt the Spark, Sushi the Lung-Fish, and Lakilester the Lakitu. Mario will also need to save the seven star spirits being held prisoner by Bowser's toughest generals; traveling to many different exotic locales in order to do so. Only once Mario has saved all seven star spirits will Mario have the power he needs to DEFEAT Bowser's latest plan, once and for all! The graphics are charming, the sound is great, the controls, music, game-play, and challenge are all stellar, and it all adds up to a great way for the N64 to go out on a high note! Video Game score: 24/25!

Game Boy Advance!!!! 5. “Pokemon Ruby/Leaf Green/Fire Red/Emerald” 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2015 Wii U Virtual Console, Nintendo 3DS (“Pokemon Ruby” remade as “Pokemon Omega Ruby”). The transition from 12 bit Game Boy Color to the 32 bit Game Boy Advance is NOTHING short of significant! Not only do the Pokemon look better than ever in “Pokemon Ruby” and “Pokemon Emerald”; there are now MORE to catch than ever! There are a total of 386 different Pokemon that can be caught, raised, evolved, traded, and hatched, in order to achieve a complete Pokedex. Although there are only eight gyms to beat again, the game is significantly longer than its predecessors, with plenty of new quests, areas to explore, and secrets to uncover! There are three new updates to the "Pokemon" formula with this game; there's a new feature called "Pokemon" contests; where Pokemon perform moves based on how much they can impress, and there are five different types of "Pokemon" contests they can enter. Another new feature, is the ability to grow Pokemon berries! Previously, you could only pick two berries from a tree once a day, and wait a day for the berries to grow. Now, you can plant and grow your OWN Pokemon berries, at any selective spot you want, and figure out the best way to grow each type of berry. But the best new update of the game, is the fact that it is FINALLY possible to delete HM moves by visiting the Move Deleter! “Pokemon Leaf Green” and “Pokemon Fire Red” are also REALLY great games! They keep the same gyms, gym leaders, and Pokemon as in the original gams, but they also add a lot more to it! In addition to the main Kanto region, trainers can now travel to the brand new Seven Islands (only three, than five are initially available before all seven can be traveled to.) And once all the Gym Leaders are beaten, "Pokemon" initially only available on the later generation releases, will also be available to catch on "Pokemon Leaf Green," or its partner game "Fire Red!" Plus, add in the fact that this game has better sound, graphics, music, challenge, and the same awesome controls, you can also now battle wirelessly (with the help of the Game Boy Advance Wireless Pak) and battle up to 15 feet away with any other player! It definitely makes finding, playing, and CATCHING any Pokemon easier than ever! Video Game score: 24/25!

Gamecube/Wii!!!! 5. “The Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition” 2004 Gamecube, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. Prior to this game coming out, there was never a retrospective way to relive four of the most important "Zelda" games to grace Nintendo consoles. That changed with this game. Not only did it contain four FULLY playable games; "The Legend of Zelda; Zelda II: The Adventure of Link; The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time; The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask;" and a demo of "The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker." It also gives a short retrospective look on the "Zelda" series up to that point, and a special sneak peak look at the THEN upcoming "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess!" And the fact that this game has beefed up graphics, sound, and control from their original versions with ALL of the original challenge left intact, makes this game a winner! Video Game score: 24/25!

Nintendo DS!!!! 5. “Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride” (What Else?!) 2010, 2015 Wii U Virtual Console. When it comes to designing R.P.G. games, both Squaresoft and Enix know how to make R.P.G. games that stand the test of time. Despite being originally made WAY back in 1992 in Japan, "Dragon Quest V" proved to be SO good, that most of the game managed to be good enough and ENJOYABLE enough to make the cut when "Dragon Quest V" FINALLY made it into the states in 2010! What's really amazing about this game is how LONG it is, and the number of different choices one can make that affects how the game ends up in turning out. The game is divided into three main parts, or generations. The first generation, you're pretty much limited in where you can travel, as the main character is being led around by his father as they're off on a quest to vanquish evil! In the second and THIRD generations however, the main character is free to go anywhere he WANTS to (sadly, it can only BE a he, sorry girls.) But even so, it helps if the main character goes to certain places in a certain order. It also helps if the main character gets the ability to recruit monsters! In a game where you can spend up to 80 hours easily on the main quest, it helps to have as much back-up help as you can get! Having the ability to recruit and reform certain monsters (not all monsters can be recruited and reformed though, only certain monsters) will help you out IMMENSELY in beating many of the tough bosses, and the ultimate evil waiting at the END of the game! There are also fun side quests, and with a game that features enhanced graphics, better music, sounds, controls, a really great story, and a good difficulty level curve, this game is enjoyable for MANY great reasons, even on the Nintendo 3DS! So this game is a really great game to play! Video Game score: 24/25!

Nintendo 3DS!!!! 5. “Star Fox 64 3D” 2011. The premise of the "Star Fox" games is simple enough; take "Star Wars," populate it with animal characters, have the main character USUALLY trying to avenge his father's death and usually having the same big bad at the end of every game. Thankfully, the high octane, fast speeds, intense action, great challenge, awesome controls, superb graphics, awesome music and sounds, make this game worth playing! This game EASILY holds its own legacy against anything "Star Wars" can come up with! In addition to the enhanced graphics, the ability to save anywhere and at any time is an added bonus! If you missed out on this game from the N64 days, you owe it to yourself to play this version! It is out of this world! Video Game score: 24/25! /

NES!!!! 4. “Super Mario Bros. 2” 1988, 1993 Super NES (with “Super Mario All-Stars”), 2001 Game Boy Advance (with “Super Mario Advance”), 2010 Wii (with "Super Mario Bros. 25th Anniversary Edition of Super Mario All-Stars"), 2012 Wii U Virtual Console and Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. In 1988, America finally got the sequel to “Super Mario Bros. 2” it had been waiting for. Although not a Mario game initially, it has proven to be a WORTHY addition to the Mario family! This game made important steps in establishing important rules in the Mario universe. For instance, Luigi began to differentiate from Mario in this game, as Luigi could now jump HIGHER than Mario starting in this game, and Princess Peach could float in MID-AIR for five seconds! Another reason why this game was so unique at the time, is because unlike "SMB1," the characters DIDN'T stomp on enemies to defeat them, they threw vegetables, keys, blocks, eggs, POW blocks, Bombs, and even other enemies at enemies in order to defeat them! Unique to this game is the Sub-Con Zone, an area where characters could get health extending mushrooms, enter warp zone pipes, and valuable coins from plants, but only twice! The coins can be used to give players a chance to earn more 1-ups after each stage was beaten! And many enemies in this game remained UNIQUE to this game for many years! Not only was the game a financial and critical success by itself, it was a GREAT merchandising media blitz by Nintendo! Nintendo took great lengths to market "Super Mario Bros. 2" to their fans. Pajamas, lunch boxes, thermos', candy, breakfast cereal, Archie comic books, the cover of the VERY FIRST Nintendo Power, and was the BASIS of the cult classic cartoon series, "The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!" Which featured the now late, great, physical and vocal talent of famous wrestler 'Captain' Lou Albano as Mario! This game firmly established Mario as an important figure in video games, and the next game in Mario's career would help Mario SOAR into the stratosphere, both figuratively AND literally! The Game Boy Advance version is also worth playing, as it contains a unique boss and some unique bonus challenges! Video Game score: 97/100!

Game Boy Color!!!! 4. “Rayman 2” 2002, 2004 Nintendo DS (as “Rayman DS”), 2011 Nintendo 3DS (as “Rayman: the Great Escape”). One thing Nintendo is NOT usually known for, it's for resting on their laurels. This is especially true of many games released near the tail-end of their system's life-time! Nowhere is this more evident than in one of the last great masterpieces for the Game Boy Color, "Rayman 2." While "Rayman 2" can be criticized for coming out on WAY many more systems than it had the right to, that doesn't change the fact "Rayman 2" remains a solid game on MANY of the systems it comes out on! But "Rayman 2" winds up on THIS list, as it's the ONLY version of "Rayman 2" I have managed to beat to date. Not only does this version manage to take all the GOOD parts of the console versions of "Rayman 2" into THIS game version, the game manages to be GRAPHICALLY impressive, musically enjoyable, has great controls and challenge, and remains a GREAT high-light from Rayman's short, incredible run on the Game Boy Color! Video Game score: 97/100!

Super NES!!!! 4. “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time” 1992, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console, 2016 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. The heroes in half-shells were at their PEAK of popularity in 1992; they had just released their SECOND live-action movie, their first animated series entered their SIXTH season of its ten season run; and merchandise sales were at an all-time high! There was no better time for Konami to come up with the BEST "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" game; so they DID! Coming out in BOTH Arcades and on the Super NES; the Super NES actually IMPROVES on the arcade version as it includes one brand NEW stage; four new bosses and an UPGRADED final boss in Cyber Shredder!!!! This game is LOADS of fun because two people can play at the same time, racking up high scores and taking down the Foot clan! It was SO cool to be able to THROW Foot soldiers TOWARD the screen, and it actually PROVES to be the key to beating Shredder the FIRST time! The graphics, sound, music, and control is the best Konami's 16-bit abilities can provide, and the fact there are three different levels of difficulty, will have players coming back for more! Games based on existing licenses DON'T get much better than this! Video Game score: 97/100!

N64!!!! 4. “Mario Kart 64” 1997, 2007 Wii Virtual Console, 2012 Wii U Virtual Console. "Mario Kart 64" is a fast, furious, fun, sometimes challenging, but ALWAYS entertaining racing game ANYONE can enjoy! Choosing from eight different characters: Mario, Luigi, Peach (she's the BEST!), Yoshi, Toad, Bowser, Wario, and Donkey Kong, players must race their way through sixteen different courses on four Cup Circuits on three difficulty levels (and a mirror course difficulty level, where the course level designs are REVERSED, that can be unlocked); and all players must race while avoiding the different weapons and hazards deployed by either the computer-controlled opponents, or the other players! This game is fun enough for a solo player, but it's REALLY entertaining when two-four people play against each other! There is no shortage in the amount of fun that can be had from this game, so it is a definite must-play! Video Game score: 97/100!

Game Boy Advance!!!! 4. “Street Fighter Alpha 3” 2003, 2013 Wii U Virtual Console. Very rarely, does a video game manage to come out that makes me wonder: "How did they manage to FIT so many amazing fighters, stages, great graphics, good sound, rocking music, excellent controls, and solid challenge onto such a tiny package?!" But "SFA3" managed to do just THAT when it debuted on the Game Boy Advance in 2003. It managed to take ALL of the features of the Sega Saturn version, shrink it down to fit for the Game Boy Advance, and even manages to eliminate the annoying loading times from the CD versions of the game! And despite THIS impressive hat trick, there are STILL three Game Boy Advance games that are better than THIS one! Video Game score: 97/100!

Gamecube/Wii!!!! 4. “Sonic Mega Collection” 2003 Gamecube, 2010 Nintendo DS (as “Sonic Classics Collection”), 2015 Wii U Virtual Console. It was shocking enough that Sega actually comitted to releasing games for their FORMER rival, Nintendo; but NOBODY ever expected Sega to actually release their OLD games on a Nintendo system! From 1989-1996, the Sega Genesis was a 16-bit system featuring games that would never, EVER be on a Nintendo system EVER...unless PIGS flew!!!!...In 2003, Pigs MUST have learned to fly, because SEVEN of Sonic's great Genesis games got featured on ONE Gamecube disc game, as well as three unlockable bonus games; "Flicky, Blue Sphere," and "Ristar" join "Sonic the Hedgehog; Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Sonic Spinball; Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine; Sonic the Hedgehog 3; Sonic 3D Blast; Sonic and Knuckles" in this great game collection! The best part of this game is that by playing and beating "Sonic the Hedgehog 2; Sonic the Hedgehog 3; Sonic and Knuckles" enough times; it is possible to hook-up "Sonic and Knuckles" to EITHER "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" or "Sonic the Hedgehog 3" and play Knuckles in those games; just like the Sega Genesis! It is for this reason why this compilation game is the BEST compilation game on the Nintendo Gamecube, and proves that even the Sega Genesis could find a home in the Nintendo console family! Video Game score: 97/100!

Nintendo DS!!!! 4. “Final Fantasy IV” (What Else?!) 2010, 2015 Wii U Virtual Console. Although this game is already available in two different forms, on the Super NES and the Game Boy Advance, the Nintendo DS version may be the DEFINITIVE version when it comes to how "Final Fantasy IV" is presented. The graphics are INCREDIBLE!!!! They are SO stunning, they even reach PS3 LEVELS at some points!!!! If that's not an impressive hat trick, I don't know what is!!!! While the core majority of the game remains the same, there are some key changes as to how the game is played. For instance, anyone expecting to take down bosses in the EXACT same way they took them down on the Super NES and the Game Boy Advance, will find themselves in for a WORLD of hurt, as many of the bosses now have DIFFERENT weaknesses, and new strengths that they will exploit against you! Thankfully, all of the playable characters in this game now have new STRENGTHS as well. None of the characters that are playable will have ANY useless qualities; even Edward and Porom are no longer USELESS, as their formally useless Song and Cry have been replaced and upgraded respectively. Song is now Bard Song, and has far more and BETTER uses than the original Song, while Cry now reduces monsters' defense and special defense, instead of making it easier to run away. The best part about this game is that before you become unable to use a certain character anymore, you can transfer their unique ability to one of the more permanent members of your party! Be sure to choose carefully though, because you can only transfer the unique ability once, and only to ONE character! In addition to the stellar graphics, great music, great sound, great controls, and great difficulty level, this is one solid game that is a prime example on how great the Nintendo DS is, and how some of those games are still enjoyable today! Video Game score: 97/100!

Nintendo 3DS!!!! 4. “Mario Kart 7” 2011. "Mario Kart 7" is nothing short of an excellent game! There are many different characters, custom karts that can be customized, game tracks, and difficulty levels to choose from! Although my personal fave racer is Peach, it is almost certainly possible to race with and excel with nearly any character you want on any track you want! This game is an absolute THRILL to play, either single OR multiple player! The thrill is fun for everyone, and is a MUST own if you have a TON of friends you want to try your skill against! Video Game score: 97/100! /

NES!!!! 3. “Super Mario Bros. 3” (What Else?!) 1990, 1993 Super NES (with “Super Mario All-Stars”), 2004 Game Boy Advance (with “Super Mario Advance 4”), 2010 Wii (with "Super Mario Bros. 25th Anniversary Edition of Super Mario All-Stars"), 2014 Wii U Virtual Console and Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. If "SMB" established Mario, and "SMB2" helped cement Mario as a driving force for Mario and video games at large, than "Super Mario Bros. 3" BROKE every single video game record to DATE! Selling bigger, better, faster, and greater than ANY video game before it, this game didn't just CLAIM the video game throne, it SHATTERED it and built a BETTER one! This game was LOADS bigger than both its predecessors; so much so, the cartridge actually needed a SPECIAL memory chip in order to PLAY the whole game! But for Nintendo, the end results were WORTH it! Mario and Luigi were now able to do and perform stunts that had NEVER been possible before! They could now fly (either temporarily or permanently with a P-Wing), swim fast and against strong currents with a Frog Suit, transform into a statue with the Tanooki Suit, or throw hammers and shield against fireballs with a Hammer Bros. Suit! Also, Mario could open new paths by defeating a Boom-Boom's Mini-Fortress, by using a cloud block, finding one or all three of the Magic Warp Whistles to warp from world to world, or by using hammers to break rocks in order to explore otherwise hidden areas! If that wasn't enough, this game introduced us to Bowser's FIRST seven children: Larry, Morton, Wendy, Iggy, Roy, Lemmy, and Ludwig Von Koopa; the Koopa Kids who just LOVE to be mean! This game not only LIVED up to the hype, it EXCEEDED the hype by ALL expectations! Making more money than an average Hollywood blockbuster of 1990, this game made Mario MORE popular and MORE recognized than Mickey Mouse. This game proved to EVERYONE that video games WERE here, and they were HERE to STAY!!!! And the world at large has been happily playing ever since! Video Game score: 49/50!

Game Boy Color!!!! 3. “Wario Land III” (What Else?!) 2000, 2012 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. While Wario isn't exactly known for helping people, he DOES do if it will get him rewarded with treasures and money! When Wario finds and plays a Music Box, he finds out it's MAGIC! Wario gets shrunk down into the world of the Music Box! A 'Guardian Deity' says he can restore Wario to his normal height, but Wario has to hunt down the four magic music instruments first, located in the four different sections (levels) of the Music Box. Any other treasures Wario discovers on his quest will be HIS to keep! What Wario DOESN'T know, is the 'Guardian Deity' is ACTUALLY a SEALED Demon who's been trapped by the now spell-bound citizens of the magic music box, and the Demon NEEDS the music instruments to be played before the seal on him can be broken! Needless to say, the Demon has no intention of letting Wario getting ANY treasure! But if the Demon thinks it will be EASY to get rid of Wario, than he doesn't KNOW the lengths Wario will go to in order to earn more riches! This game is unique as Wario is UNABLE to die in this game! Although, Wario can STILL be affected by enemy inflicted transformations! The transformations are actually ESSENTIAL to Wario being able to discover SECRET bonus areas, alternate hidden exits, and rare treasures he wouldn't be able to find otherwise! Wario will have to set himself on fire, get fatter, become a zombie, get stung and float, become a snow-ball, and even get a little 'spring' action in! Along the way, Wario will also increase his move abilities, so that he can do more and find even MORE hidden secrets in stages he has already gone through! So this game provides a lot of re-play value, and when Wario defeats the evil demon, the spell-bound citizens of the Music Box hail him as a GREAT hero and let him keep his treasures! Hey, what people don't know, won't hurt them, or endanger Wario's fortunes! Video Game score: 49/50!

Super NES!!!! 3. “Super Mario R.P.G: Legend of the Seven Stars” 1996, 2008 Wii Virtual Console, 2016 Wii U Virtual Console and Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. Mario had conquered a LOT of different professions and genre types by 1996; platform, puzzler, golfer, tennis player, doctor, wrecker, plumber, kart racer, and cookie-maker; but the genre of R.P.G.'s was uncharted territory for Mario. Nintendo HAD a good game idea in MIND, but they needed the help of Squaresoft to pull it ALL off! Coming out near the tail-end of the Super NES' era of greatest production, "Super Mario R.P.G." proved to be one of the LAST great triumphs of the 16-bit era! A quest to save Princess Toadstool (Peach!) from Bowser, takes a SHARP detour when a NEW enemy makes an appearance! An evil alien named Smithy, has a WHOLE army of loyal lackeys at his command, even WORSE than Bowser, and they have their eyes set on CONQUERING Mario's world! For this quest, Mario will not have to face this perilous journey alone! On his adventure, Mario will meet up with some fellow fighters. One of them is Mallow, a puffy cloud boy who holds a ROYAL secret, and another one is the mysterious star warrior known as Geno! Mario will even team UP with Bowser and Princess Toadstool/Peach in this epic game! In order to stop Smithy and his band of evil goons, Mario and company will need to find and retrieve the Legendary Seven Stars, broken apart by Smithy's GIANT Sword and scattered across the world! Mario will have to fight both old AND new enemies alike in this game, in order to stop Smithy and his gang from carrying out his plans! With secrets to uncover and some BONUS side-games included, there's no shortage of fun to be had in Mario's FINAL outing for the Super NES system! This game made SURE the Super NES system went out on a high note! Video Game score: 49/100!

N64!!!! 3. “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time” 1998, 2002 Gamecube (as “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time/Master Quest”), 2007 Wii Virtual Console, 2011 Nintendo 3DS (as “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D”), 2012 Wii U Virtual Console. I'm probably going to get some flack for this; but I HAVE to say it: "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" is NOT the best video game in HISTORY!!!!...There, I said it. Don't get me wrong; this game is good. I mean, this game is REALLY good; it's GREAT!!!! It's just not PERFECT, and there's ONE major reason WHY; Navi the Fairy! It's bad enough she has to fly around, and buzz in Link's EAR every five minutes; but to give her one of the WORST acting voices in HISTORY; it's almost impossible to tell WHAT Nintendo was thinking with that! My solution, just mute the TV so at the very least; Navi's voice CAN'T be heard! The rest of the game is really stellar! Great controls, great graphics (by N64 standards), great music, great control, great sounds, excellent game-play, solid challenge/difficulty, and a great story to boot! If you HAVEN'T played this game yet, I'm NOT going to spoil it for you; pick up a copy of the Nintendo 3DS game version and play it if you haven't already! It even includes the special "Master Quest" version of the game; a mirrored version of the ORIGINAL game, with a RIGHT-handed Link, and TOUGHER dungeons to beat! This game definitely set a HIGH standard for video games to top, but TWO games manage to top it on THIS list! Keep reading and find out which ones! Video Game score: 49/50!

Game Boy Advance!!!! 3. “Mario Kart Super Circuit” 2001, 2013 Wii U Virtual Console. "Mario Kart Super Circuit" is an AWESOME game! Not only does it contain 16 brand new tracks available for racing on the Game Boy Advance, it also includes all TWENTY of the original track courses from the Super NES game of "Super Mario Kart," for unlocking in this game! The game graphics, challenge, control, sound, and music are ALL updated to make full use of the 32 bit portable system's power, and the best part of this game, is getting to play with a friend competitively! Needless to say, "Mario Kart Super Circuit," was the MOST fun you could have with a Kart Racer game on a portable system! (Until "Mario Kart DS" came along, of course!) Video Game score: 49/50!

Gamecube/Wii!!!! 3. “Pac-Man World 3” (What Else?!) 2005 Gamecube, 2015 Wii U Virtual Console. This game is SO big and so GOOD, that even playing it on the Nintendo Wii is a good treat! Pac-Man must do battle against a brand-new evil nemesis named Erwin, who wants to plunge the world into darkness and FORCE the citizens of Pac-World to build giant statues of himself to emphasize his importance! Fortunately, Pac-Man is not alone in this game; he gets help from some unlikely allies; Blinky and Pinky the Ghosts! Pinky can see, land and walk on, and solidfy platforms that Pac-Man can't initially see, land, or walk on! Blinky can use his Ghost Scream to break down columns, brick walls, and other objects that Pac-Man can't break! In addition to great graphics, great music, great controls, and great camera controls, this game also has a good story and well-designed game levels! And it features the great maze level designs that "Pac-Man" games are known for! This is by FAR, the best "Pac-Man" game available on the Gamecube! Video Game score: 49/50!

Nintendo DS!!!! 3. “Kingdom Hearts Re-Coded” 2012, 2014 Wii U Virtual Console. If there was any "Kingdom Hearts" game WORTHY of playing on a Nintendo system, than "Re-Coded" is the definitive game to play! While it's not necessary to have played the OTHER "Kingdom Hearts" games in order to enjoy or understand this one, it certainly helps in understanding certain plot points or even knowing in what to expect from the game. In any case, you play as Sora (or rather, a data version of Sora) as you travel throughout a digitized version of the journal from "Kingdom Hearts One", in order to uncover the mystery of why the first journal suddenly became blank, and who is behind the mysterious messages that are now appearing in the journal! The graphics are REALLY impressive; if it wasn't for the fact that this game CAN be played on the Nintendo DS, you'd swear it was designed for the Nintendo 3DS! The game looks just as impressive on THAT system as it does on its original system! The music, sound, controls, and leveling up scheme are all unique, clever, and an innovative way to make Sora stronger, faster, smarter, more agile, more skilled, and have more stamina when it comes to fighting the Heartless. Many familiar faces from Disney and some familiar faces from the "Final Fantasy" games are present in this "Kingdom Hearts" game. In addition to the main game, it helps to complete additional side-quests in this game. By completing enough side-quests, you'll see the bonus, TRUE ending of this game, which sets up the story for the upcoming "Kingdom Hearts 3!!!!" And the fact that you can play this game on the go, is an added BONUS for this great video game! Video Game score: 49/50!

Nintendo 3DS!!!! 3. “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D” 2011. The merits and strengths of "Ocarina of Time" have been discussed, and re-discussed, so many times, it's hardly worth it for me to state or re-state what's already BEEN stated about the game so many other times! What is worth mentioning, I think, is that while "Ocarina of Time" WAS a launch game for the 3DS, it is NOT the best, first game to play for the 3DS. In terms of overall enjoyment, the 3D re-make is better than the N64 original, and not just for the enhanced graphics! Navi may still have her SAME annoying voice; but she thankfully alerts you less often than in the N64 original; only once every 15 minutes instead of every five! And the fact that you can play the "Master Quest," originally available for the Gamecube version of "Ocarina of Time" makes the game worth playing even more! Video Game score: 49/50! /

NES!!!! 2. “Yoshi's Cookie” 1993, 2008 Wii Virtual Console, 2013 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console and Wii U Virtual Console. For the puzzle purist, the best on the NES has got to be "Yoshi's Cookie." It's an interesting game where the goal is to line up different kinds of cookies until a player has a complete line of cookies either vertically or horizontally the same, which clears that line completely! By clearing a set amount of lines in a set amount of time, a player moves to the next round! And with 99 rounds of play with 3 speed difficulties, there are 297 different ways to play, challenging and entertaining for players of ANY skill level; and the two-player co-op competition is pretty fun, as well! This game contains good music, good controls, and excellent challenge, and has EXCELLENT graphic design! Coming out near the end cycle of the NES development line, this 8-bit game produces graphics that would rival those of an early Turbographx-16 game! Now THAT is impressive for a system that is eight years old! The Game Boy and Super NES versions, are VERY fun to play, as well! Video Game score: 99/100!

Game Boy Color!!!! 2. “The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages” 2001, 2011 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. What's unique about this game is the fact that it takes place NOT in the land of Hyrule, as is the usual case, but in the parallel land of Labrynna. An evil witch named Veran has possessed the body of Nayru, who is not just a good singer, she's also the Oracle of Ages! Using Nayru's body, Veran travels back in time 400 years to wreak havoc on present day Labrynna and create the foreboding castle called the Dark Tower! Using the Harp of Ages, Link must travel back and forth between present day Labrynna, and distant past Labrynna, in order to solve many challenging puzzles and fix problems in both the past and the present! This game really shows off the Game Boy Color at its most innovative, as the graphics are top notch, and several items and characters from the N64 "Zelda" games manage to make an appearance in this one! Plus, it's now available for the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console, so if you missed it the first time, be sure to check it out now! Video Game score: 99/100!

Super NES!!!! 2. “Donkey Kong Country II: Diddy Kong's Quest” (What Else?!) 1995, 2004 Game Boy Advance, 2009 Wii Virtual Console, 2016 Wii U Virtual Console and Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. After the immense success of "Donkey Kong Country," fans everywhere demanded ANOTHER winner from Rareware! A game that was even BIGGER, even BETTER, featured MORE new enemies, locations, bosses, things to collect, and different types of barrels than EVER before! People got their wish when Rareware managed to even TOP themselves, when they came out with "Donkey Kong Country II!" King K. Rool, has KIDNAPPED Donkey Kong, and has DEMANDED the Kong's ENTIRE banana horde as RANSOM in order for the ape's release! Naturally, Diddy Kong isn't about to give up a primate's most valued possession; so with the help of his girlfriend Dixie Kong, Diddy and Dixie set out over many levels and stages of striking against all the different Kremling pirates and bad guys, collecting Kong letters, Kong Coins, Kremling coins, and Donkey Kong stage coins along the way (as well as beating all the bonus stages and opening all the treasure chests) "Donkey Kong Country II" not only lives up to the example set by "Donkey Kong Country", it EXCELS the original in EVERY way! Only by completing EVERY stage perfectly (players actually have to BEAT King K. Rool TWICE, first on his EVIL plane, then AGAIN in the Lost Krem-World; only then can players EARN the RARE goal of seeing the TRUE ending by EARNING 102% OF 102% in the game (don't ask me WHY it's 102%, it's NEVER explained)! Video Game score: 99/100!

N64!!!! 2. “Conker's Bad Fur Day” 2001, 2005 X-Box (as “Conker: Live and Reloaded”), 2017 (rumored for Wii U Virtual Console and Nintendo Switch). "OHHHH, GOD!!!!" That was Nintendo's reaction to what was by FAR, the most CONTROVERSIAL and SHOCKING thing Rare had ever DONE during its entire HISTORY as a video game developer! Nobody knew just how FAR a video game could PUSH adult-labeled content on a video game; but Rare decided to tear down EVERY single rule they had established BY that point, in what was expected in a video game! Right from the game's INTRO screen (VERY unpopular with Nintendo, as it showed Conker CUTTING the N64 logo in HALF with a chainsaw), it was CLEAR that "Conker's Bad Fur Day" was NOT going to be a KID'S game! In fact, it was the FARTHEST thing from! On Conker's 21st birthday; Conker has FAR more to drink than he should have, gets hung over and lost on his way home; and when he wakes up, he breaks the fourth wall (something that's done CONSTANTLY in this game) and knows he is going to have a BAD Fur Day! Rare not only provided the same great controls, the same great music, the same great sound, and the same great game-play difficulty in THIS game that they had provided in every single Rare game prior, they also came up with what they called, the "Context Sensitive" button. That is, at certain places, usually on an A button pad icon located in a game, Conker could stand on the icon, press the A button, and perform a unique action EXCLUSIVE to THAT spot, and CRUCIAL to moving the plot forward! But what REALLY stands out about this game are the INCREDIBLE graphics, and the SHEER amount of voice-work in this game! Nearly every single CHARACTER in this game has a voice, and they speak in British accents, with a WIDE range of vocabulary that CAN'T be repeated in front of your parents! If it wasn't enough that the characters had their colorful vocabulary, they also had colorful actions! There is SO much taboo adult content in this game, I can't even repeat it right now! Another change is that Rare decided to do away with having to collect an INSANE amount of things, and instead, focus on collecting ONE thing; CASH! But the BIGGEST departure from Rare's usual formula, is the fact that this game has a DOWNER ending! Conker's girlfriend Berri is murdered, and Conker loses his chance to bring her back to life! Conker ends up as the King, with all the money and power in the world, but he has lost the one thing that matters to him the most; his soul-mate. Rare's swan song for the N64, was perhaps the best way to signify the end of the N64; revolutionary until the very end! And with Conker's successful return in “Project Spark” on X-Box One, there are now SERIOUS talks about Conker FINALLY returning to Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch after a 16 year absence! Keep your fingers crossed for 2017! Video Game score: 99/100!

Game Boy Advance!!!! 2. “Dragonball Z: The Legacy of Goku II” (What Else?!) 2003, 2005 Nintendo DS, 2013 Wii U Virtual Console. In 2003, Atari had been OUT of the video game business for seven years. It had been trying to put itself back together after the COLOSSAL mis-fire that was the Atari Jaguar, and "Bubsy 3D" which pretty much DESTROYED them! But after a great period of wandering around in the dark, they FINALLY announced their LOUD, ROARING comeback with one of the GREATEST "Dragonball Z" games to EVER grace a portable console, and one of the GREATEST games period! "DBZ: TLoGII" does an even BETTER job than its predecessor of sticking to the main story line, and it even throws in Cooler from "Cooler's Revenge" as a nice bonus! The plot of this story goes all the way from the Trunks Saga, to the end of the Cell Games Saga. Despite the fact that Goku isn't AVAILABLE to play as a playable character, until closer to the end of the game, this is still one SOLID game to play! The graphics look even better than ever, the sound, music, and challenge are more in tune with the show than the first "DBZ" Game Boy Advance Game was; and a nice NEW addition, is that characters can NOW move diagonally, which can really help when fighting against a tough boss! There are five/six main characters to play as, Goku, Gohan, Piccolo, Trunks, Vegeta, and Hercule Satan! One of the best challenges of the game, is earning golden statues for the main Z fighters, and accessing a bonus ending for Hercule! This game was PERFECT for Atari to announce its come-back, and a PERFECT way for "Dragonball Z" to become a successful video game franchise as WELL as a successful comic book and anime series franchise! Video Game score: 99/100!

Gamecube/Wii!!!! 2. “Super Smash Bros. Melee” 2001 Gamecube, 2013 Wii U Virtual Console. There is SO much to LOVE about this game! Take the concept of the original from the N64, make the sound, music, graphics, control, camera control, and stages have a BETTER design, have MANY more challenges to tackle, feature more than a DOZEN playable characters and more than a DOZEN unlockable characters, let them duke it out against each other in THREE different video game modes, feature a BUNCH of collectible trophies detailing Nintendo's long and storied history in video game's up to 2001, and you've got a bona-fide winner in every single way imaginable!!!! Plus, this game introduced Crazy Hand, the psychotic partner to Master Hand, and Giga Bowser; a SPECIAL boss that players who were LUCKY enough not to lose more than two lives on normal difficulty level of Adventure Mode or harder, got to fight against! The game of "Super Smash. Bros. Melee" was so good, it was GOOD enough to remain the definitive version of a "Super Smash Bros." game for a good SIX years until "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" came along in 2008! Video Game score: 99/100!

Nintendo DS!!!! 2. “Mario Kart DS” 2006, 2016 Wii U Virtual Console. For the first time ever, the "Mario Kart" series goes completely wireless in its Wi-Fi approach! It's possible to play for a player to play against seven different people at the same time, from ANYWHERE in the world (as long as you're at a reliable Internet hot spot!) This game has great graphics, great music, great sound, great controls, and some new items to use on the race course, including a bullet bill power up that allows you to ZOOM past many drivers, or the Blooper item which allows you to squirt ink in characters eyes! If that happens to you, your driving screen will be all black, and you'll have to wipe it off with the stylus in order to see again. In addition to these new items, many of the same great characters and popular items from past games make an appearance in this one; even R.O.B. from the "Super Smash Bros." games gets in on the act as a bonus, unlocked character available to play! And what's REALLY amazing about this game, is the fact that the retro courses from the N64 and the Nintendo Gamecube, look just as GOOD on the Nintendo DS as they do in their original games! That's what makes this game worth playing! Video Game score: 99/100!

Nintendo 3DS!!!! 2. “The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D” 2015. The reason why this game makes the list, is due to the fact on how DIFFERENT it is from all the other "Zelda" games so far. You only have THREE days in which to save Termina (from a menacing Moon no less!!!!) Only FOUR main dungeons to explore and five main bosses to beat (although the final boss DOES have three different forms). And the fact on how much of the game is puzzle oriented, rather than action oriented. But the strength of "Majora's Mask" has always been the fact in that the game NEVER holds your hand, and allows you to figure out the many puzzles located throughout this game on your own. And because you get to re-live the same three days over and over, you get to know and care for many of the NPC's in this game in a way that's just not possible with many of the other games in the "Zelda" games. The fact that "Majora's Mask" has the haunting atmosphere it has, and contains a hidden reference to the five stages of acceptance, doesn't hurt matters either. So it's a small wonder as to how this game managed to top MANY best seller lists in 2016! Video Game score: 99/100! /

And now, it's time for the number one games of EACH system, and the number one video game of ALL time! /

NES!!!! 1. “The Legend of Zelda” 1986, 2004 Game Boy Advance and Gamecube (with “The Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition”), 2007 Wii Virtual Console, 2011 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console, 2012 Wii U Virtual Console. If there was ANY game that DESERVES to be the best NES game ever, it's THIS game! Why? This game was SO good, the first production run cartridges were LITERALLY made in GOLD!!!! That's how good Nintendo made this game! This game excelled on SO many levels that many games had never dreamed or attempted before THIS game, and which many games are STILL trying to match even today! And the game stemmed from a very simple premise. When Shigeru Miyamoto was a kid, he would explore the forests, caves, and mountains of Japan. He often wondered what was hidden inside these places, and the mythos of Hyrule was born and forever ingrained in the psyche of video game players everywhere! (Interesting factoid, Princess Zelda is named after the wife of author F. Scott Fitzgerald; Zelda Fitzgerald. And Princess Zelda herself, inspired the now late, great Robin Williams to name one of his daughters, Zelda.) Many video games don't MANAGE to debut fully formed, but this game DEFIED all odds! All of the original hooks from "The Legend of Zelda" video game series were introduced here: Boomerangs, Power Bracelets, Bombs, Arrows, Candles, Swords, Shields, Keys, Maps, Life Potions, Compass', Armor Up-grades, Octoroks, Zoras, Gohmas, Dodongo (it dislikes smoke!), Poes, Wizrobes, Moblins, Fairies, hearts, heart containers, rupies, shops, Gibdos, Stalfos, Keese, Wall Hands, Bubbles, Magical Transportation (in this case, a Whistle), Pea Hats, Leevers, and the DREADED Ganon himself! This game is nothing short of magical, and its a game I enjoy returning to time and time again. Video Game score: 100/100!

Game Boy Color!!!! 1. “The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons” 2001, 2011 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. The biggest reason why this game ranks as the best Game Boy/Game Boy Color game, is the fact that according to most people; including myself; this is a better game than its partner game, “The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages.” Once again, this game doesn't take place in Hyrule, but in the parallel land of Holodrum. Upon arriving there, Link meets a great dancer named Din, and is even invited to dance with her! But an evil force comes along to interrupt the joyful times, the mighty, evil General Onox, who completely overwhelms Link and captures Din, who also happens to be the Oracle of Seasons! Onox takes the captured Din and places her in his sinister tower. He then submerges the Temple of Seasons into the underground land of Subrosia, throwing the seasons of Holodrum into chaos! Using the Rod of Seasons, Link can manipulate the seasons in the Land of Holodrum, gaining access to places in certain seasons and finding the path to dungeons in others! Many "Zelda" characters from the N64 "Zelda" games make an appearance here. And by using the link feature with "Oracle of Ages," Link can have a continued, expanded adventure from THAT game (or vice-versa) where its revealed that the REAL threat behind Veran and General Onox are Kotake and Koume, AKA Twinrova, who have devised these plots in an attempt to resurrect the EVIL Gerudo Ganon! This is one cool game that is now also available on Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console for people who have missed out the first time! Video Game score: 100/100!

N64!!!! 1. “The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask” 2000, 2004 Gamecube (with “The Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition”), 2007 Wii Virtual Console, 2012 Wii U Virtual Console, 2015 Nintendo 3DS (as “The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D”). The direct sequel to "Ocarina of Time," this game is often at ODDS with its direct predecessor, mostly for the BIG departure it takes from the LAST game! This game takes place not in Hyrule, but in the parallel world of Termina. In this game, Link only has THREE days to race around and make things right before the Moon will fall onto Termina and destroy ALL who live on it! But as it turns out, Link actually doesn't HAVE just three days; he has the SAME three days; to relive multiple times! Another major departure from "Ocarina of Time," is the repeating three day structure. By using the Ocarina, Link can LITERALLY turn back the hands of time, slow it down, or speed it up! Although there's a SMALLER amount of dungeons in "Majora's Mask", they are bigger, trickier, and tougher to SOLVE than the puzzles in "Ocarina of Time." Not to mention there are many side-quests that Link can go on, all of which can help Link get strong enough in order to fight against Majora's Mask itself! What's really unique about this game, is the fact that Link needs to TRANSFORM in order to accomplish different things, with magical masks! As Deku Link, Goron Link, Zoron Link, and Young Link, Link will need to utilize his FOUR main forms in order to beat different monsters and get into different places. In addition to the three main masks, there are twenty additional masks that must be found and/or won by accomplishing different tasks, each mask giving Link a unique ability that can help him out in solving a puzzle. And only by finding ALL twenty of these masks, will Link be able to win the most POWERFUL mask transformation of all; as Fierce Deity Link! But the biggest reason this game is ranked higher than "Ocarina of Time"; is Tatl! Unlike Navi, Tatl does NOT consistently 'hold' Link's hand, and Link has to SOLVE many of the puzzles in THIS game on his own, making for a more challenging, but more REWARDING experience overall! "Majora's Mask" is not just a unique video game in the "Zelda" game series, it is a very UNIQUE game overall! Dark, moody, atmospheric, exciting, and DEFINITELY epic! A game that has few other gaming peers worthy of being in the same legendary league it is in! Link's last outing on a cartridge game is also one of his best; and that's why this game is so great! Video Game score: 100/100!

Game Boy Advance!!!! 1. “Final Fantasy VI Advance” 2007, 2012 Wii U Virtual Console. One of the LAST main games available to play on the Game Boy Advance, also ends up being its BEST! Although its available as "Final Fantasy III" on the Super NES, this game makes enough changes and updates to the Super NES original to make this a superior version to the original! Not only do the sounds and music sound better, the graphics, characters, spells, and espers look better than ever, the controls, story, and overall feel of the game feel better than ever; the fact that there are brand NEW Espers to find, plus an all new challenge to face in a brand new challenge called Dragon's Den, makes this version of "Final Fantasy VI" a MUST play for ANY true lover of R.P.G. games and video games overall. With this game, Square Enix made sure that the awesome legacy and power of the Game Boy Advance, would go out on a high note, and for that, all players should be immensely thankful to them for providing such greatness! Video Game score: 100/100!

Wii!!!! 1. “Super Smash Bros. Brawl” 2008. If there was ANY game that was going to be the best Wii and/or Gamecube game, it was GOING to be THIS one! This game is AWESOME because you can FINALLY play as Sonic the Hedgehog, and put the age-old question of Sonic Vs. Mario to rest, PERSONALLY! And the debuts of Meta Knight, King Dedede, Diddy Kong, Lucario, Ike, Pit, Olimar, Zero Suit Samus, Charizard, R.O.B., AND the Final Smash were pretty awesome to! Plus, the Adventure Mode has been TOTALLY revamped to be even MORE expansive and awesome than in "Melee," especially with the inclusion of Final Boss Tabuu (who suspiciously looks a LOT like Dr. Manhattan from "Watchmen.") This game RIGHTFULLY enjoys its spot on the top of the Wii video game throne! Video Game score: 100/100!

Nintendo DS!!!! 1. “Dragonball Z: Attack of the Saiyans” 2011, 2016 Wii U Virtual Console. This game is great, and not JUST because it is a "Dragonball Z" game, it's about how GOOD it is made! This game covers the entire story from the beginning of the Piccolo World Tournament Saga in "Dragonball," to the end of the Vegeta Saiyans Saga in "Dragonball Z," and even throws in PLENTY of surprises and easter egg references to fans of the anime and the manga as well! The graphics for this game are top notch, it actually FEELS like you're controlling the real characters, and not just representations in them. The music and sounds are perfectly ported from the series, to the game. The controls are perfect, and the story game difficulty is among the best that can be found in the entire Nintendo DS catalog! The protagonists in this story are Goku, Gohan, Krillin, Piccolo, Tien, and Yamcha, and every one of these heroes have different strengths and skills to handle different enemies. The best part is, that when certain heroes team up together, they are capable of creating unique combo super moves! The game NEVER feels too difficult to beat, and taking the time to explore the game will help you level up your characters up in time to beat the next boss! (Although to be fair, when you fight the SECRET boss Legendary Super Saiyan Broly, three of your characters should be level 75+ before you take him on!) Other than that, this game has no other precautions that need to be noted, and is the best game available on the Nintendo DS! Video Game score: 100/100!

Nintendo 3DS!!!! 1. “Super Smash Bros. 4” 2014. It's practically impossible for me to NOT make this the BEST Nintendo 3DS game! For STARTERS, it's possible to PLAY as Pac-Man, Mario, Mega Man, AND Sonic, ALL IN THE SAME GAME!!!! No other video game in the WORLD can legally say that!!!! And there are many other video game characters available to play as to, not to mention many video game stages to play in, and difficulty levels for the beginning player, or the most daring experts of all; the ones who are brave and experienced enough to tackle Classic Mode difficulty level 9; NOTHING Harder!!!! Plus the game has a brand new mode called "Smash Run." Although it can't replace the Adventure Mode from the Gamecube or the Wii versions, it IS the only way in which you can fight against villains from Namco, Nintendo, Capcom, and Sega games, and it allows you to collect powers, trophies, and items that you wouldn't be able to collect otherwise! Plus, it all culminates in a unique final battle when all is said and done! In fact, the game is SO impressive, that you can even add ON to the initial game, as you can download MORE new characters and stages into the game! It is for this reason that "Super Smash Bros. 4" is by far and large, the MOST impressive video game to be released for the Nintendo 3DS so far!!!! Video Game score: 100/100! /

Drum-roll please, and now it's time, for the Number One Video Game of ALL time! /

1. “The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past” 1992 Super NES, 2002 Game Boy Advance (with “The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past/Four Swords”), 2007 Wii Virtual Console, 2012 Wii U Virtual Console, 2016 Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. My inspiration for video gaming stems from my older Cousin Ronnie. He was one of the FEW people I knew of who owned BOTH a Super NES, and a Sega Genesis! Everyone KNEW video games had potential to be big, but an epic masterpiece STILL hadn't materialized in the THEN 19-year old video game industry in 1991. In 1992, EVERYTHING CHANGED FOREVER!!!! My Cousin Ronnie, he probably said it the BEST when this game first came out..."There are only TWO true types of video games now; everything that came out BEFORE "The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past," and everything that comes out AFTER it!" And in my honest opinion, he's STILL right! This game marked the TURNING point for ALL video games; no longer just juvenile experiences for kids, video games could NOW tell epic storylines, have vast WORLDS to explore, and be engaging from the 1st to the LAST minute of game-play, and yet STILL have players coming back for more, because the game is THAT good!!!! Maybe there IS no true definition of "Perfect," but "A Link to the Past" has come FAR closer to the definition of being "Perfect" than any video game BEFORE it, or any video game since (which doesn't STOP a lot of video games from trying)! Taking the original formula from the first "The Legend of Zelda," amplify it, AND enhance it 1,000-fold; this game didn't just MAKE video-game history, it IS video game history! "A Link to the Past" (in its original release of April 1992), became the FIRST video game in HISTORY to SELL OUT its ENTIRE first production run of cartridges in its FIRST weekend! There are FAR too many reasons to go on as to WHY "A Link to the Past" does SO much better than many other games, but that's what MAKES this game SO great! And beating the video game is SO rewarding! That's why THIS game is the BEST!!!! Video Game score: 110/100! (Yes, it's THAT good!) /

That's it for my list! Hopefully, this makes getting through 2016 that much better! Enough said! ;)
