On February 20, 2017, jjs announced that Riffing Theater would be coming to a close, which it did on February 6th, 2018. The 32nd riffing project was the final riff of the series, and it ended at 294 episodes.

On December 26, 2020, jjs announced Riffing Theater would briefly return in 2021 for a 12 episode spin-off miniseries, called [[Jjs' Riffing Theater 3000: The Critic Chronicles|"The Critic Chronicles"]]. It riffed episodes of the Nostalgia Critic. Due to its success, jjs did two more miniseries riffing content outside of SBC: [[Jjs' Riffing Theater 3000: Family Guy Funny Moments|"Family Guy Funny Moments"]] and [[Jjs' Riffing Theater 3000: Tales from the Internet|"Tales from the Internet"]], the latter celebrating 10 years.
