  1. I was mad and frustrated but doing a little better now. I got a tornado (or really strong storm - it kinda doesn’t matter tbh) that caused a 25 hour power outage that ruined all our refrigerated and frozen food, and I had to throw everything out and clean a bunch of melting stuff from the fridge and freezer defrosting. I didn’t have any consistent internet until about an hour and a half ago. The whole day was ruined dealing with the aftermath of the tornado. I hope tomorrow (technically today but whatever) is better.

  2. Huh…I didn’t know about this scene. This wasn’t the only deleted scene from this episode either. You know that meme where SpongeBob swells up and turns red? That was another scene that got cut from it. Sucks that those poor animators spend so much time making these scenes only for them to get thrown away in the end.

I was wondering where I recognized your name from, and then remembered I'd been seeing you all over SBM. Welcome to the other side!

(We mostly exist on Discord nowadays, if you're into that kind of thing.)

Thanks! Unfortunately, Discord isn't really my thing (I think it's been a month since I opened it), but maybe I'll drop by at some point.

This episode at times felt like watching the show decay in real time, and the poor writing and ignorance of the original episode didn't help this feeling.

I completely agree, and I am a big defender of the new episodes. This episode would've been much better in Season 11. Actually, Season 11 did have a sequel episode (Doodle Dimension) to another beloved classic episode (Frankendoodle), and it was much better than Squidiot Box. And yeah, SpongeBob's voice has really gotten weaker. Tom Kenny can't do the Season 9 voice anymore. I wish they would have him do a lower voice, maybe closer to Season 1. As for the writing, I've been noticing more problems with the writing since the tail end of Season 13. Unlike Seasons 6-8, there's nothing super frustrating going on with the characters or the storylines. The problem now is that they just feel really dull and lacking. This occasionally could be a problem with Seasons 10-12 (like Library Cards), but it didn't happen nearly as often as it seems to now. But there is still much good to be found (Bassward). I haven't lost hope yet.

  5. Not great. Thinking about the future is what keeps me going. But the future I envision (which is not even unrealistic - all I really want is a job, an apartment, and mental/spiritual peace) feels like fiction, and there's no guarantee of it even happening. Not to scare anyone, but I've known people who've spent DECADES living hard lives, and I'm scared of ending up like them. Maybe I have it better than a lot of other people who've had worse trauma than me or are homeless, but I'm miserable, and I want to be free.

  6. Hi there! I'm SneakyMcSneakyPants (my name comes from a quote from The Pink Purloiner). I joined a little while ago but was mostly just lurking until now. I'm going to try to be more active now though! I'm a 23-year-old college graduate from Texas and have a computer science degree. I'm also an SBMania member (same username), where I tend to kill whatever free time I haven't already given to Reddit and Wikipedia (funemployment, right? 🫠). I'm also an amateur cartoonist, which is something I got into thanks to...SpongeBob! I've loved SpongeBob since I was 5 (before I even had cable!) but started to REALLY get into the show when I was 16, and since then I have devoured SpongeBob episodes and info about the show's crew, production history, etc. I love watching the show and discussing it, often at length! Looking forward to participating!
