  4. I'm literally as old as Spongebob. 428899.gif I was born May 1, 1999, the day the public first saw Spongebob. =D

    That's freakin' awesome.

I remember seeing the pilot episode on the Kid's Choice Awards back in '99. It was great to see, but I wasn't much of a fan then. I was 6 when I saw the that pilot episode, "Help Wanted".

It wasn't until I was in the 2nd grade, 2001...I officially fell in love with the cartoon. "Secret Box" was the funniest episode I saw! I remember it perfectly, I was at my mom's boyfriend's apartment, me+my three sisters+my mom were in the living room watching the episode. I was upset because we had to eat lunch I didn't find out what was in Patrick's box until I watched the episode a few days later.

I rarely watched SpongeBob before the Secret Box episode, so I made sure for all my birthdays and Christmases that I get the 5-episode title VHS's they had out from 2001-2003 (because we didn't have a DVD player then). Omg, I was so addicted to SpongeBob...I watched the same episodes over and over xD Even my sister's were huge fans of the show (they're not anymore though, SHAME ON THEM!).

Since then I loved SpongeBob 8D

  5. Throughout Season 4 and beyond, I noticed a DRAMATIC change in the animation style! All the characters are polished, more wacky, and even the animation is more fluid. I don't know, in the previous seasons the characters would stand and talk a lot (which I didn't mind, the jokes were hilarious), but in the newer seasons there's definitely more action going on. I love how the animators payed more attention to the "line of action" each character have while their handling different situations (hand gestures, lifting things, face emotions, etc.)

I did notice throughout Season 6 and most of Season 7 that the animators added "disturbing details" in the character's facial/body emotions. Overall, most of the jokes from seasons 1-4 were played out, thus the animators looked for other ways to make the viewers laugh by adding gross humor, violence, toilet humor....buh. Here's some example screenshots for the grossness I catch in some episodes:

I mean come'on, I see character's faces being ripped apart. I'm so glad they toned-down the grossness in Season 8 to say the least. I do know other people probably like to see this type of stuff in cartoons, but I don't for sure xD

Other than that small rant about the grossness, Season 4 and up is amusing for kids, but for us who've watched the show since the early years...we notice the definite changes.
