  1. I distinctly remember having an extremely visceral reaction the first time I saw Choir Boys, it was one of the first TV show episodes to make me realize that some media can be bad and worthy of criticism. Not even the godless scene with SpongeBob being levitated in the sky and making that face could salvage anything like the writers were hoping it would.

  2. Waiting tends to stick out as a bad episode, maybe because it was one of the pioneers of early terrible episodes that made evident the quality decline that would mark the later seasons. While I don't particularly feel that this episode deserves any special condemning it's definitely incredibly tedious and the conclusion is so underwhelming you have to wonder why you watched it at all. Truly no episode has been created since with less replay value.

  3. Little Yellow Book-- straight garbage and should've been at least 18 positions higher. The hypocritical nature of everyone in Bikini Bottom, the needless Squidward torture, the horrifically unfunny gags centered around SpongeBob doing random, un-established in canon shit... it all meshes to create the absolute worst season nine had to offer-- yes, even more horrifying than the utterly plotless SpongeBob You're Fired! which at least had a setup worth entertaining.

If we're talking straight-up annoying, one really need look no further than Keep Bikini Bottom Beautiful, which contains some of the most obnoxious running gags of the season and is just generally unpleasant to sit through with the added benefit of needless Squidward torture and extremely punchable side characters (looking at you, Bikini Bottom Police Department.)

Summer Job is unique in that it tortures Ms. Puff instead of one of the shows regular whipping boys, however it contains all the same unpleasantries and a far worse conclusion than many with SpongeBob at his absolutely least tolerable and the supporting cast being dicks for seemingly no reason. The "Someone's in the Kitchen with Sandy" pf boating school episodes.

  4. AYHN? - The far-fetched concept of Squidward having genuinely no happy memories is about as much of an ass-pull as Patrick not knowing what lemonade is, so it's no surprise that an episode using this as its basis is such garbage. The suicide jokes are so obviously for 'shock' value that the only real shock here is that the writers were dumb enough to think writing them would be a good look. There's something to be said about the fact that the 'SpongeBob trying to make Squidward happy' montage is sort of self-aware in that it shows that the writers are well-aware that they've made Squid's life a living hell over the last few seasons, but this show is not a place where serious episodes with a tone of grit can thrive, and this episode is the most painful reminder of that. I'd rather have a typical annoy Squidward episode than this.

I honestly and truly have no idea what the hell they were going for when they wrote this but whatever it was, I don't think they achieved it.

Pineapple Fever: Speaking of 'annoy Squidward episodes,' here's one now. That's really all there is to say here.

  5. the really egregious aspect about the plays the thing is you can tell that they went into it with virtually no idea how they’d string together all the incoherent plot aspects they’d tried to jam together, plus wtf is with patrick introducing that last minute food fight at the end, someone at nick studios must’ve been on their deadline with this one and had to come up with something quick to finish it off!

i think tentacle vision has a few redeeming funny moments but ultimately seeing squids house get wrecked and him getting kicked out of his own show was more frustrating than funny. still i found zeus the guitar lord to be a nice addition, plus his scenes are all that stands out to me when i think back on this one.
