  1. Honestly the big problems with this season is it’s a lot of half baked ideas that don’t feel fully fleshed out and then not realizing which characters were completely fleshed our after the first season

-They make Trent obsessively compulsive only to cut him before they go all out with it?  I get that he’s boring but at least commit.

-The aforementioned Gwen/Duncan are going to end up being more than just friends at some point hint.  It was only around for a few episodes but if that’s “the biggest note” of this season, you know it’s a lackluster one.

-Leshawna is uninteresting without having Heather to play off of.

-Owen didn’t deserve to come back a second time after he got voted off.

-Justin is villainous for not even half the season and then all of a sudden, he’s just another contestant.  Yeah what Cha said about him being a precursor to Alejandro is the truth.

-I love Duncan, but he did not deserve to make it as far as he did, nor the win.

-Beth, I at least get why she stuck around for so long, but it honestly would have been more interesting to see Lindsay in the finals.  At least more people like her.

-Harold’s underdog story is cut supremely short, which is a damn shame because to me, he was the MVP of the season.

-I love the movies, you all should know that about me, but the whole picking a different genre each episode thing started to run out of ideas towards the end.  Even Chris broke the fourth wall in that pet companion episode to point that out.  Still rings true though.

Total Drama has had worse seasons than this (hello All-Stars), but this is honestly a filler season that leads to a great one following afterwards.

After feeling nostalgic towards the Total Drama series after looking into the already ill-fated Total Dramarama spin-off, I've decided to binge on it since this week, starting back from the beginning. I could try and make a full-fledged review for it, but I'm just going to save myself some time just simply saying that the first season still holds up as a classic. A good of chunk of its contestants made for a very interesting cast, including some of the ones that got booted off early, with Duncan, Heather, Izzy, Geoff, Bridgette, and Gwen being some of the best of the bunch, pre-merge and during the merge.

Heather made for a great main season antagonist. I loved how dirty she played over the course of Island, and how she got her karma well into the Final 3. Gwen and Owen were not too bad of a pair for the finale. I would've rooted for Gwen, but I'll also take Owen's victory as it is. This season's couples provided a good amount of chemistry, with Duncan/Courtney's relationship being the most interesting for me (well...up until the later two seasons).

Then there's the eliminations, I'm not going to express my thoughts on each and every one of them, but to put it simply, I found most of them to be understandable. A couple that I'm willing to debate on, however, is Sadie's elimination, due to her having little focus on the particular episode that she gets eliminated in (but I'll give it props the "marshmallow eating freaks" line), and Geoff's elimination when Duncan and Leshawna's immunity would've had Heather cornered, and the sheer lack of anything foreshadowing his downfall given that Gwen manages to bond with him during the challenge.

It had a few flaws, but in the end, Island was and still is a charming and humorous first impression. A solid 8/10 if I'd say so myself. Also, this is off-topic but...:

    Dark times, man. Dark times.

Ill-fated? To me it wasn’t really that bad.  The two episodes I’ve seen thanks to Jjs were actually surprisingly good.

  3. So yeah, this willl probably be one of the worst movies I’ve seen this year.  Who knows, maybe even be the worst?  Have to really think about it.

The only remotely positive thing I have to say is that Maya Rudolph steals every scene she is in.  That’s it.  Nothing else about this even remotely stands out.  Which is a real damn shame because I still think this idea had some real potential.

Like I said I’m not against the idea of this.  I’m all for it.  But all this trailer is just the basic concept of LOOK AT THE PUPPETS SWEAR, DO DRUGS, ACT VIOLENT, AND FUCK!  I hope the movie is saving the good jokes for the actual film because this trailer is incredibly squandered potential.

The bold pretty much sums up the movie in a nutshell.  Which is exactly what I feared it would be and it did use all the good jokes for the trailer.  Because the rest of the jokes were practically muppets doing even more gross crude behavior just because they can get away with it.  That’s supremely disappointing because when you pull that all back, the movie is pretty dull underneath it all.  Nothing interesting at all.  It tries to add some sort of sub context about how muppets are second rate citizens and get second rate jobs because parallels to society today.  But it doesn’t fully commit to examining that idea further in depth.

I hope we get more original ideas like this in theory in the future.  I’m all for them but as long as the effort is clearly there.  Unlike this, where no effort was put into at all.

Netflix has been pissing me off a lot this year so I have my concerns lol.  That being said, I seriously hope this is as good as that trailer made it out to be because it does look excellent.

  5. So proud to see how SBC has grown over the years.  Even if I’m not as active as I used to be, I stil love coming here to see how things are going and to catch up with you all.  Here’s to seeing SBC continue to prosper as the many years go by.

  6. Rewatching this after buying it on Blu-Ray yesterday.  My complaints still stand but good lord does this still hit me hard after months of sticking with me.  This mess of a movie is still one of the best movies of the year for sure.

  7. I’m not trying to pile on 4EverGreen but this is one of the most bizarre reasons to call an episode overrated I’ve ever seen...and you all know the one I’m talking about:

Unpopular opinion time, "Shanghaied" and "Wet Painters" are VASTLY over-rated!  If you really think CAREFULLY about both of those episodes, they're BOTH just "Shaggy Dog Stories." And I mean that, in the sense that in the vast scheme of things, they don't REALLY contribute anything significant to the "Spongebob Squarepants" canon, other than "Shanghaied" being the first SIGNIFICANT role for the Flying Dutchman. Also, "Christmas Who?" is an okay episode, but I just like the stop-motion Christmas special better. Finally, "The Krusty Krab Training Video" episode ending, WAS "The Soprano's" series ending, six years BEFORE that ending ever came about! o.o Hopefully, the top three episodes will actually BE episodes that will be WORTH all the anticipation that everyone has been hoping for! (Waits to see how many users give me a "Sad" reaction for THIS comment!) :hysterical: Enough said!

Bumping this because of the cool news that Christy Carlson Romano, and Will Friedel, Kim and Drakken's original voice actors respectively, will be involved with this movie in some way! If Nicole Sullivan, Shego's original voice actor is on board, than I'm all FOR this film! :D Enough said! ;)

Will Friedle wasn’t the voice for Drakken.  He was the voice of Ron Stoppable.  Enough said! ;)

  9. Yeah I’ll be blunt, out of those three, the Family Guy Movie intrigues me the most.  We already know how surprisingly decent of a director Seth MacFarlane can be with the first Ted movie.  Despite his last two full length films sucking, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he is as dedicated to making a full length feature film of his most well known property.  Or at least I hope he would.

We’ve already had a Simpsons Movie, so will this be titled The Simpsons Sequel?  I was pleasantly surprised at how great the first one is.  My only hope is that equal amounts of passion will be given to the sequel instead of the shell of itself, this series has become.

As for Bob’s Burgers, does it even have that devoted of a following to even warrant a movie?  This series is one of the key examples of being hit or miss for me because when it hits, it’s pretty good but when it misses, yeah.  I can’t even begin to imagine what they would even do for a movie.  I just don’t think there is that big of a demand for a full length film for this and I can easily see it being the least profitable of the three...just like in television ratings.

I hope we see a Bye Bye Man and Slender Man cross-over soon.

Yes they can be a part of the multi studio universe of widely panned horror movies.  Or The Comedically Crap Universe for short.

  11. Slender Man

Definitely a contender for my worst film of 2018.  Like dear god, I think this would have been better if it was a found footage film with no effort than a slogging piece of crap that actual effort was put into.

    The Meg

A dumb entertaining shark movie that knew how stupid it was and fully embraced its stupidity.  I liked this a lot more than I thought I would.  It’s the Deep Blue Sea of the 2010s.

If the popular movies are good enough they can get nominated on their own (like Get Out last year or La La Land in 2016).

I wouldn’t consider La La Land a popular movie because of two reasons.  It started off in select cities like most awardsbait movies tend to do.  Also it had the underlying message of being a love letter to old fashioned Hollywood.  It was always one of those prestige flicks that became popular because of how well reviewed it was and how many nominations it got from The Academy.  Still a great movie that I love don’t get me wrong.

But even with that, there are so many popular movies that don’t get recognized at all despite being well reviewed by critics and pushed from studios.  It’s a rarity when there is a movie like Get Out that gets away with being recognized as one of the best of the year from the Academy.  For example: Wonder Woman, Thor Ragnarok, and Baby Driver were all some of the best reviewed movies of the year and they only got recognized for technical work instead.

  13. If the title doesn’t explain it all, here’s a link:

    https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/race/academy-plans-three-hour-oscars-telecast-adds-popular-film-category-1133138

Incredibly stupid move by the Academy committee.  In a year, like this one especially, where some of the highest grossing movies are seriously some of the best reviewed out there (Black Panther, Avengers Infinity War, Mission Impossible: Fallout), they decide to make a category like this.  To me, this is still the Academy refusing to actually give credit to how much smarter and well received some of the mainstream movies can be now.  Sometimes, they are much more than just popcorn flicks.  They can have strong messages just like those prestige flicks the Academy voters tend to eat up.  Which btw, I guarantee you that they still won’t bother to give “popular films” a legit chance to be nominated and win more than those “awardsbait movies”.  Fucking stupid.

Can’t wait until next year when they decide to add Best Cinematic Universe as a category because they still think they can tend to be hip and cool.

  16. In honor of being the first SBC users to have a movie made about them, it's only fitting that they get a SBCinema parody too.  This is how it got made.  Also this episode will be in spoilers for the time being due to it only being in theaters for ten days so far.  Go see it now and make the Titans proud.

    78. Teen Titans Go! to SBCinema

Film: Teen Titans Go! to the Movies

    Spoiler

In SBC, the Teen Titans arrive to stop The Red Pill. However, when Metal cannot figure out how many of these users are Jjs secretly, the Teen Titans jump into a SBC Rap Battle to introduce themselves and become distracted, forcing the Injustice League to intervene. They criticize the Titans for being childish and not taking anything seriously, and bring up the fact that they do not have a SBCinema parody of their own to prove their legitimacy.

Supergameman: Titans!  You aren’t actual SBC members to get realistic episodes written about you.

Beast Boy: Hey Mama, didn’t you replace someone?

Wonder Homie: I did, but we don’t talk about that.

While at the premiere of Cameo Man Again, Robin humiliates himself, after assuming that there will be a SBCinema parody about him, but it ends up being about Limelover and is laughed out by the audience. At the rest of the team's suggestion, Robin resolves that in order to get a SBCinema parody made about him and the Titans, they need an arch-nemesis.

Nearby, Steve breaks into Star Labs to redact a crystal because he can see his reflection in it and no images of him are allowed to be on SBC anymore. The Titans arrive and attempt to stop him, but he swiftly defeats and redacts them. The next day, Beast Boy, Starfire, Cyborg and Raven create a SBCinema episode to cheer up Robin, but he turns it off prematurely declaring that they will go to Clappy to have a parody made about them.

Upon arriving, they encounter Aurora, who is responsible for all the superhero parodies being posted. She turns down the Titans' request to be in a SBCinema episode, but explains that the only way she would make one about them is if they were the only superhero parodies on the forum. The Titans take her words literally by going back in time to prevent Clappy from writing parodies of the other superheroes.

    Steel: I am Steel Man.

Raven: I’m from the future.  I can tell you Clappy’s DCEU continuity parodies are better than his Marvel ones from Season 1.

    Tvguy: :awkward:

Ren: Hey!  Only Banpool can break the fourth wall.

Starfire: Only after Clappy let you do the guest write.

Robin: Which means you’ve lost your guest writing privileges!

JCM: I can’t wait to tell Clappy that The Snark Knight is ready to be posted!

    Cyborg: Not anymore fool!

But this only ends up ruining the present, forcing them to go and undo their blunder.

Steve next arrives at JCMTech to redact the crystal's power and the Titans arrive to stop him, this time putting up an actual fight. They secure the crystal, but Steve escapes, resolving to split Robin from his teammates. The next day, Aurora invites the Titans back to the forums and announces that she will make a movie about them due to their recent fight with Steve. While Robin is given a tour of the premises, Raven, Beast Boy, Starfire and Cyborg venture out and cause mischief. They find the OAXIS that is heavily guarded by Butch Hartman and try to destroy it, but Aurora arrives and reveals that O.A.X.I.S., is just a terrible acronym for a new streaming service he is making. She resolves to drop the rest of the Titans from the SBCinema parody and make it solely about Robin, which he happily accepts, much to the consternation of his team, who wish him luck.

Robin finishes making the SBCinema parody himself, but during a scene where he interacts with the Titan Tower door panel, a light falls and knocks him out. He awakens and finishes the scene where Aurora reveals that they are in the tower for real, and that she is actually Steve himself in disguise. He gets the crystal back and tells Robin that his making so many SBCinema episodes was a plan to keep the heroes busy while he took over SBC. Robin escapes and calls his friends back, who join him with open arms.

Steve unleashes the crystal's power to control the other episodes and sends them after the Titans. Robin goes after Steve while the rest of the team leads off the countless Clappy creations. However, Steve uses his new power to control Robin, and tells him to redact his friends who show him the rest of the SBCinema episode they made for him. Robin comes to his senses, and the team takes out Steve together, defeating him and his giant tool of a brother too.

The heroes all congratulate the Titans for their heroic efforts with Robin admitting that he has learned to be himself. When he tries to go on, everyone demands that they cut to the end immediately with Robin attempting to stall so that "kids can ask their parents questions about joining a forum". Starfire breaks the fourth wall to say to go right to the credits but Robin stops just before the film ends telling kids to "ask their parents why Mr. Saturn hates the pedos".

In a mid-credits post, the Teen Titans from the 2003 series show up on a distorted screen telling the viewers that they "found a way to join SBC too".

Nice list. I'm interested, how would you rank the seasons?

Great question.  Had to really think about it for a bit, but here’s what I think:

    2 > 3 > 4 > 1 > 5 > 6 > 16 > 9 > 7 > 15 > 8 > 10 > 14 > 11 > 13 > 12

And on that note, I would like to announce Part 2 of my Family Guy project:

Top 10 Best Episodes of Family Guy Starting With Season 10

Yes I want to challenge myself to pick out the best episodes of the downfall years of Family Guy.  Surprisingly, not all my choices are going to be from Season 16 despite how much I’m praising it being a real improvement season.  Amongst all my list choices and even in my honorable mentions, there will be representation from at least one choice from each season.

Hey buddy.  I should have clarified.  It’s not just you because I’m going all the way back to before you too.  I know of plenty people from my tv.com time too that was passionately against this episode and since we still have some stragglers from back during those days, I was speaking from under that impression too.  If you want a specific example, RaeAndAnasRock  passionately hated any episode with the slightest bit of Squidward sabotage (ask Jjs since I guarantee maybe one or two people will remember that name haha).  Sorry for any trouble this might have caused.
