SBC held another April Fools prank on April 1st, 2018. Teen Titans Go characters invaded the site, where many users had lots of fun and activity was increased highly on the site throughout the day. Badges were also given a revamp this month, where users can now select and choose which extra badges to show in their posts, due to the increasing number of badges and to prevent clutter. The 22nd SWYAD was held from April 13th to April 20th, 2018, with the theme of Cartoon Characters. [[Spin-Off Festival 8]] started May 25, 2018 and concluded June 19th, 2018, celebrating the 10th anniversary of when [[tvfan95]] started spin-offs on tv.com. While users had fun during the festival however, things were not as they seemed behind the scenes. For the first time in a long while, some major staff controversy occurred on SBC come late May 2018, when [[Cream]] and [[Metal Snake]] (with [[Spongetron Robotpants]] as a complicit assistant) conspired behind the scenes to create a 14 page document attacking jjs and several users, which included a multitude of false and easily debunk-able statements - appropriately called [[Metalgate]]. This resulted in Metal and Cream stepping down from their positions and leaving SBC. [[Fry Cooks]] were revived on June 7th, 2018, consisting of: [[Cha]], [[Patty Sponge]] and [[JCM]]. SBC's Discord got much more active come June, and has become even more popular than the [[The SpongeBob Community Xat|Xat]]. Over the course of 3 days (June 29th to July 1st), [[Third SBC Renaissance|a major series of events occured on SBC]]. These events centered around the ban and demotion of long-time user and administrator hilaryfan80. After a resignation thread, which has since been censored, a protest on both the forums and Discord, the site was briefly shutdown by hilaryfan80. Negotiations occurred, and resulted in user JCM becoming administrator and assuming ownership of the databases, servers, and domain for SBC. The name for this weekend of controversy and panic was coined by [[HawkbitAlpha]] and [[jjsthekid]]. [[Sponge Cup]] began July 1st, 2018 and concluded July 31st, 2018, which the [[Band Geeks]] won 48-35-5. On July 13th, 2018, [[Homie]] was made a Cashier and [[Teenj12|teenj]] was made a Manager. On July 24th, [[SBC News]] was rebooted by [[Patty Sponge]], 5 years after the original series ended.
