Right now, I'm playing Mega Man 8... just to hear Search Man say, "Hell! NO!!!"

Yesterday, I caught a 'Pick TV' airing of an episode of 'Charmed', another show which often falls victim to PAL speedup... they didn't disappoint.
-
The episode in question was 'Still Charmed and Kicking', which was produced in 2005. Hmmm.. That makes me wonder: was the 'good' NTSC-to-PAL conversion method more favourable during that year? Because some of the Season 4 SpongeBob episodes not to be affected by speedup were made during the same year.

Typical British weather... Sigh...

I just viewed a clip from a UK airing of 'Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy VI: The Motion Picture' on YouTube. It appears that episode did not suffer from PAL speedup, as the pitch was perfectly fine. I'm assuming that 'Enemy In-Law' also escaped the PAL curse, and my (brief) overhearing of the episode on my brother's TV a few weeks ago seems to back this up. I will edit all my reviews in which I mentioned PAL speedup in Seasons 4-Present to reflect this.

I know I have rambled on about this excessively in some of my reviews on the post-movie episodes, but seriously, the 'PAL speedup' method that Nick UK uses to convert Season 4+ episodes (with the exception of TLM/KvP and SO/FP) really drives me crazy. Sorry, Nick UK, but I do not wish to flick to your channel, only to find that the opening theme of an episode is higher-pitched. Seriously.. as soon as I hear that bastardised theme tune, I turn off my TV.

Just for comparison purposes, I have uploaded two audio clips from both the US and UK broadcasts of 'Dunces and Dragons'. The quality of the clips isn't that great, but it is sufficient enough to be able to decipher the audio. Here is a link to the US broadcast's clip: http://yourlisten.com/channel/content/16983566/Audio_Clip_from_SB_DaD

In all honesty, I am glad I applied for this website It is, in my opinion, MILES better than Facebook. What has become of that website? It's a total disaster now.
