  1. So basically we're fucking idiots because some of us don't enjoy British humor?

Right, because us not laughing at most of your shitty, dry comedy shows apparently means that we don't understand or get it.

Anyway, i'll watch this on netflix at my dads house. It doesn't look too shabby.

You guys took that way more seriously than I ever intended it to sound! What I was saying was that non-Britons can enjoy it more than other British comedies.

And I don't know where you got the idea that all of our comedy is dry. Take a look at Father Ted and Mrs. Brown's Boys for example!

  2. For a British sitcom, it's probably the one that is most American-friendly - that is, Americans can understand it and actually laugh at it, unlike apparently most of our comedy.

Anyway, the best thing about The IT Crowd is that for the first two series Chris Morris was in it - that's right, the same Chris Morris who did The Day Today, Brass Eye, and the film 'Four Lions'. A real comedic genius. When he left (although he still made some appearances in his character) his "son" replaced him, played by Matt Berry, who is just as good. ("FAATTHER!!") He recently starred in a pilot during Channel 4's Funny Fortnight in "Toast of London", which I really hope they pick up for a full series.

The best episode IMO is probably the one that will make the least sense to anyone who doesn't live in the UK. It's called "The Final Countdown" and is based around the long-running Countdown game show shown on the same channel as The IT Crowd. The other great episode is "Work Outing".

The IT Crowd ran for four series and, when the cast are finally all ready to film it, a final special to end the show.

    Here are some choice clips.

If you must watch one, watch this one:

  3. For example. Recently on a long car journey, I decided to listen to Sgt. Peppers start to finish. I found that I liked every song except two of them (Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite, and that Indian one something like 'Within Without You' or something). But especially one of them 'She's Leaving Home'. I now think this is one of my favourite songs. Good thing iTunes started selling Beatles albums, eh? I especially like the sped-up mono mix that makes Paul sound younger, it just sounds better.

Anyway, has this ever happened... to YOU!?!?!??!?!!!!!??

  4. Hi there, I'm PhilipB, but most people shorten my name to "Phil", which I don't mind.

Some of you might know me as the guy who can't make his freakin' mind up whether he is on this site. Whilst I do have my problems with the site and have an infinite number of ideas on improving... I'll keep quiet. For now, anyway. 864693.gif (Just joking, I will.)

For those who don't know me, I'm a member on another SpongeBob fansite forum, SpongeBuddy Mania, and have been so since Autumn 2005. I've had a lot of fun over there, I really have, and I hope I'll have just as much fun on here.

Now, I'll just have to wait and see if you've accepted me and whether it'll be obvious if I can post again or not. Sorry again for confusing everyone over my membership here. 630566.gif

    Thanks.

  5. Can I just say how much the flower ship scene cracks me up? I'm pretty sure without that scene, I wouldn't have this big an interest in the movie.

It's the "You're my favourite customer" bit that gets me.

  6. I'm sure that all of us have used Wikipedia at least once in our lives. For me, ever since I discovered it through Answers.com four years ago, it has been an indispensable tool that I use almost daily to help me with my study, to answer something in my mind that has been boggling me, or to just browse and find out interesting (referenced of course!) information that I will take with me in the future when taking a test, partaking in a quiz, or just generally having a discussion about a particular subject.

And the price of all this information? Since 2001, free. This information is free. What's the catch? There isn't one. No advertising, no subscription, no having to register, no being blocked if you have AdBlock, none of it. A free portal of information on millions of subjects. I'm sure that if you think of a subject now and type it into Wikipedia, it'll be there. And if it isn't, you can start up a new article and add information referenced from other websites, or your own general knowledge. Then you can ask other Wikipedia users to add their information to it, or just leave it be and let other people add to it in their own time. Now when somebody else looks up the same subject, they'll be able to read your information. You've just helped somebody find out something interesting and relevant! And what was the cost of that? Nothing. Zilch.

Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia sites, like Wiktionary - the free online dictionary, rely on the community of the world wide web to contribute and add to articles to make them better, bigger, and more helpful to everyday people. You may contribute to Wikipedia, as I do, from time to time, or you might not and just read the articles like most. Whatever you do with Wikipedia, you should donate to the Wikimedia Foundation. You should do this for several reasons which I am going to summarise into bullet points to save you time, but which you can find out extended information by going to the Wikimedia websites.

    • [*:a7xra12e]You're helping keep Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia sites free to use. Without the small donations of everyday people like you, Wikipedia would not be here today. And if donations stopped, you can be sure that Wikipedia would have to resort to banner ads or, more likely, be shut down due to lack of funding. I'm sure many of us don't want to do that.
[*:a7xra12e]It helps keep freedom of speech. People who have been denied access to news and information on attacks inside their own country have relied on Wikinews and Wikipedia to help them find out and understand what is going on, and let them communicate their opinions.
[*:a7xra12e]You're letting more funds being put into the time and care of Wikipedia. Sites on the web don't stay still, as we've seen with Facebook and Twitter. However you may not know that whilst over $30 million is put into the development of Twitter, only $5 million is put into the development of Wikipedia, and Wikipedia is the fifth-most popular website on the whole of the world wide web, compared to Twitter at the seventh-most.
[*:a7xra12e]That book report you did was probably done with the help of Wikipedia. Without Wikipedia, where would you go to find out what the League of Nations did? Or find simplified articles on Science from the Simple English Wikipedia? You'd have to rely on big, out-of-date, heavy textbooks from the library. Your instant source of up-to-the-minute information would be gone.

I hope that has convinced you to donate to Wikipedia. It's why I donated to Wikipedia. I gave ?ú5. Even the least amount of money can help. If everybody reading the Wikipedia banner ads online at the moment asking for donations gave $5, the campaign would be over in a matter of days, or even hours.

So, please, donate whatever you can, big or small, to Wikimedia today. Oh, and thanks for reading. 893573.gif

  7. You're annoying. And you're a prude. And you're a little asskisser. =/ Seriously, if you don't like how we run our site ,then leave.

I'm sorry if you find me annoying, I am only giving you advice that you might need in the future. Asskisser? Who's ass am I kissing? Forumotion? Because I certainly don't like them. I guess from now on I'll just make fun of everyone here instead of giving out constructive criticism and tips that will help the staff of this site run it better. Because I've seen things done in my last five years on message boards that have had an impact on people and their forums. Forumotion isn't responsible, it is only hosting the content you provide. It is not responsible for the content that is produced here. After all, you did read the Terms & Conditions, right? No, I didn't think so.

I'm not going to leave because I want to make sure I keep friends within this community and that I can help this community grow. And if you don't like that, ban me. =/

  8. But we don't have an active user under 12. Everyone is 13 and over.

But you just said your age limit is 10. You're letting kids 10 and over into this sorta thing, whether 10 year olds join up or not, it's against COPPA rules, which could lend YOU and the other staff a hefty fine in the future.

I don't want to argue further. These sites are different and I rest my case. 630566.gif

  9. In the SpongeBob forum, we discuss SpongeBob in a G/PG rated setting. The rest of the forum, (ALMOST) any discussion can occur. This is a site for teens and young adults, not kids. We have a minimum age of 10 for our users.

10? Then you need to adhere to COPPA guidelines for any user who is under 13. And besides, 10 is no age to start reading adult conversations on a SpongeBob website. 0_o Unless you have a COPPA user group to filter out those forums/topics, which you should have.

Sorry, that's just my two cents. I'll just keep out of those conversations. But yeah, I'd run this forum a little differently if I were you.

  10. We talk about things much worse then vibrators EVERY SINGLE DAY.

One of the reasons why I mostly go to SBM... I visit a SpongeBob forum to discuss SpongeBob and general off-topic subjects, not adult stuff. If I wanted to discuss adult stuff I'd subscribe to an adult website. :/

  11. So, apparently the 'Phillip' in this is supposed to be me. TBH I don't really get it... I'm a lead singer of a band called "The Pussycats" (strange name for a boyband) and we've split up. Okay. Then I accidentally order a mushroom pizza, and, in probably the most bizarre bit, we find out I'm with Mothra. Right. Mothra. The member, right? Okay.

  12. ...And if you look to the top, you can see the LOVELY "Introduce Yourself" topic. You can probably stretch right over there. -.-

We have that topic for a REASON people. It's to make sure topics like THIS don't pop up. Notice]

Why is there a completely separate forum for introductions then? Why not just make a sticky topic in the off-topic forum?

Having separate topics is what different boards are for, not just one. It's also much easier to have separate topics for new members. And you're also deterring people away from the site by moaning at them for doing something wrong even though they just joined.

    :/
