You really had me thinking that this was coming back with new episodes, not just back to CN's ugly ass schedule

Well, you at least have this to look forward to, if that's any consolation.

  2. It's hard to say. Everyone's an asshole, and I have a huge problem with how the season played out (and what it means for a potential season two), but I thought all the actors were really great and typically a lot better than the material they were given. I'd say it's worth a watch just to enjoy the cast they were able to wrangle together (highlights I think being Colbie Smulders, Fred Savage, Billy Eichner, and Seth Rogen's guest spot), but don't expect amazing writing or likable characters (unless you view the whole thing as a parody of the "college friends getting back together" sort of thing)?

  3. Always Spotify. I typically will never run into problems finding an artist (and if I do it's usually not an artist I desperately want to be listening to), I find so much good new music in the Discover section or in my Discover Playlist (much more than I ever have trying to use Pandora or surfing YouTube suggestions) - not to mention all of the other playlists floating around for specific genres and moods, and Premium is just too good of a deal.

How long did it take you to get comfortable with a brush pen? I've been using one for a couple days and I enjoy the look it gives my drawings, but at the same time, it feels so unwieldy that I feel like it'd be very tough to actually ink with it. GIVE ME THE ANSWERS

Hm. This is a good question, because I don't remember if I ever got totally comfortable using one. It always felt just a little bit off to me. Like it was just a bit too fat for my hand. I think I used it every day for a little over a year before I switched to a regular brush (which is what I use now and have been for three years and I find it to be so much better in every way). Don't let it deter you, though - I was getting the hang of it while I was also doing animation, so my attention had to be split and I couldn't give the brush pen my full attention. I'm sure if I was just able to focus on inking with that I would've gotten more comfortable and confident a lot faster (namely because when I could devote all my time to inking with a brush I felt comfortable using one after about two months, compared to my other classmates who took year(s) to get comfortable with one). I know plenty of people who only use brush pen though, so it's really just personal preference

Just keep at it, honestly. But in a way that's purposeful. Part of the reason why I got so comfortable with a brush so quickly is because of how obsessed I got with practicing. Before I even touched a penciled page, I would take out my sketchbook and que up Farscape (I was making my way through the series at the time) - and I'd just make lines in my sketchbook. Just testing control, learning how to grip the brush correctly, consciously practicing going from thick to thin and back again, trying out different techniques for getting volume and whatnot. A lot of inking technique, trying to learn it all and get it right. For one or two episodes (depending on how I was feeling that day) that'd be the only thing I did, and when I had gone through half my sketchbook I'd start on the penciled page. Even with that, I'd have, like, anywhere from two-five copies of the page ready to go, because I'd want to keep trying until I got it right. Everyone else I knew would just go straight into a page without warming up first, and they were always frustrated with how it came out.

Now, don't be as insane as me - there's no reason for that. My insecurity and need to prove myself was getting the best of me and I was going crazy because of it. But, regardless, practice is still important. I'm not sure how many drawings you're doing a week, or how many hours a day you spend drawing, but whatever the numbers are, if you want to get good at inking you gotta bump the numbers up a smidge. An extra drawing a week, an extra thirty minutes a day. Something simple like that - nothing crazy.

I saw The Big Sick and thought it was really good? Like "one of the best movies of 2017" good.

Ugh, so good. So funny. Ray Romano and Holly Hunter killed it, and Zoe Kazan is just too cute and charming (an aside: she's in a romcom that came out a few years ago called What If, opposite Daniel Radcliffe, she's as amazing in that as she was in this, if you're interested/haven't seen it yet). Kumail and Emily have such an amazing relationship, I'm so glad they were able to bring it to the general public and I'm so glad it's, like, legitimately doing well (as opposed to something, like, Mike Birbiglia's movie that came out last year, Don't Think Twice, which never really got going in terms of wide release). I hope it leads to more things for Kumail - it feels like he's been just shy of breaking into the spotlight for so long.

well, arrow season 5 carries on from season 4 (just watch recap of season 4 or sometimes, season 4 sucked unless you wanna see how bad it is) but it's more of a season 1 sequel and Black Siren appears in couple of episodes of s5 and she'll be back as regular in season 6.

Legends season 2 carries on from season 1 but season 1 really got better. It also carries on from arrow season 4 finale (mainly because Damien Darhk from Arrow season 4 returns but he works better on Legends) but again you can watch recap of arrow season 4.

    ???

Alrighty, sounds good. I'll get on it soon.

good luck man. Make sure to check out Arrow season 5 because for the most part, it was pretty good and Legends season 2 was so awesome?

Do I need to finish Arrow season 4 and Legends season 1? I fell out of both shows so I'd have a lot of catching up to do.

did you finish season 3 of The Flash? Any thoughts?

Still haven't had the chance. I got the gist of it, though, and I'll be sure to finish before season 4 comes out. I'm hoping I like it more than most other people did.

  8. Yeah, logistically young Eobard doesn't make a whole lot of sense, and Wells is just my personal long shot because I think it'd be funny and the most unexpected of the possible characters, but it just seems weird to me that the writers would deliberately (seemingly) show the resolution to this plot line in the first teaser trailer and it makes me think that there has to be some sort of twist?

Not exactly hyped for this. This feels like Regular Show: Adult Party Cartoon. I understand this is J.G.'s style but both shows look exactly like each other, except Close Enough is edgier.

Check out his CalArts film if you haven't - it's pretty similar to this. I have a feeling this is the type of show he's wanted to make all along, and he just took a slight detour with Regular Show because Cartoon Network decided to scoop him quickly after Flapjack's crew started to dissolve.

Cautiously optimistic about this. Trailer looks good and I typically jive with JG's sense of humor and overall sensibilities, but TBS hasn't exactly produced the highest quality original content over the years. Hopefully they just let him go buck wild with this.

I wonder who the villain in the Toy Story world is. Sid? Zurg?

I would imagine either Zurg or Evil Buzz. Sid as the main villain of the world would feel... odd, I think, unless he's corrupt and creates a huge toy monstrosity powered by Heartless that we fight. I just can't picture beating up Sid.

If you explain your points clear and concise, you won't have a problem.

But your attitude reads like the only thing you are fixated on is an imaginary flame war that hasn't happened to you. Just not a healthy way to welcome in the new era.

By now you should be 100% aware that I don't just love things all the time for no reason, so why should this be any different? Cool, we have a female Doctor and she's pretty good in Broadchurch and Chibnall knows how to direct her - that's all great (safe choice for Chibnall, but, whatever, that's neither here nor there). That doesn't change the fact that I've been cautious of every new Doctor so far because it's an entirely new person tackling the same character. Sometimes it's a smooth transition and sometimes it isn't. There's always a chance that actor is going to fail (or the showrunner, I guess, but in that case this show has been failing for the past seven years according to some people), and I try to go in with a mindset of "well hopefully they do fine but who fucking knows". I'm not going to blindly be on board with a female Doctor just for the sake of it, just like I've never blindly been on board with anyone else just for the sake of it. I would like to go into this new era with the same mindset I've gone into every era (and everything else - TV show, movie, reboots/reimaginings, video game, book, new creative team on a comic, whatever) with, which is one of open mindedness and cautious optimism. I'm sorry if I'm not gung-ho on this, but I'm not going to change my outlook specifically for this casting choice.

Like, cool, people are super duper excited about a female Doctor because it's new and interesting and because queen can now slay all the Daleks yas even though we haven't even seen a second of how she's gonna portray the character. If people can be excited based on zero information of her portrayal, I can also be cautious based on zero information, and that caution doesn't automatically equate to fixation on imaginary flame wars or having an unhealthy outlook on the new era, so the next time I ask a question or have a different opinion about something I'd like for my attitude to not be read or to be put on blast for no reason.

I can't wait for sexist fans to complain about a female being the doctor. I'm so excited for what Jodie Whittaker will bring new to the table.

Are we going to be able to complain about her not being a good Doctor if she's just not a good Doctor?

Shopping for men is difficult, at least in my own personal experience. I don't have the issue of having to find clothes that fit like women's clothes shopping, but I have the issue of finding clothes that are something I would want to wear. It seems, within men's clothing, you either have very childish T-shirts to the tackiest button-ups and nothing in between. I blame the fact that the men's clothing section is typically one of the smallest departments in stores in comparison to children's and women's.

I pretty much shop for clothes exclusively online for this reason. Amazon is a good place, but also custom-made places like Etsy and other custom shirt sites. I find designs there that I like usually. For pants, I order from Amazon because they have a really great return policy. I also order pants and shoes from websites like Kohl's, because there is usually a much larger selection online, and if it doesn't fit (or I don't like it) it can be returned at any store instead of being shipped back.

Call me a millennial for clothes shopping online, but I can find what I want and not waste time going store to store.

Yeah, basically. I get called a hipster because I only wear plaid but I only wear plaid because there's nothing else. I almost exclusively shopped at Macy's for two years because they had pretty decent menswear and I had an employee discount so I could actually afford their clothes, but since I left that job I've stopped shopping in stores because there's typically nothing that isn't gaudy or a pop culture graphic tee with a lame joke/reference.

Glow is the last thing I binged and I loved it. Like you I'm more into podcasts these days.

I'm happy that there's someone else here who listens to Not Too Deep. Isn't Grace Helbig great?

More often than not yes, she's super funny, super clever, has the most infectious laugh, and generally is really nice to listen to - but man if she's not jiving with her guest or if it's just her and Jack talking then for some reason I just really can't do it. If she doesn't have someone fun to play around with then she can just get really grating really quickly for me. I am glad I found the podcast though because I've really been enjoying it. I've been jumping around and just listening to the ones with guests I've heard of before I start diving into the rest, and I think the Smosh one was the only one I had like a visceral hatred of. I had such high hopes that they'd be interesting people to hear talk because Shane Dawson's was surprisingly great (and so I figured YouTube personality wouldn't translate to real life personality) but I couldn't make it through the whole thing.

    Binge-watched any good shows lately?

I have not. I sort of got into Pushing Daisies, but I've since fallen off that due to other media being thrown at me (alternating between Persona 5 and my first read-through of the Harry Potter series); I'd like to get back to it eventually because I love the aesthetic and the feel of the show, but it also just hasn't been compelling enough for me to want to keep going back because the pilot was so damn good and felt like it's own little mini thing that needed no further expansion. I've been much more into podcasts - MBMBaM, If I Were You, and Not Too Deep have been keeping my ears pretty full recently (as well as the occasional You Made it Weird). I was talking about TV with a friend a few weeks ago, and we both agree that there's just way too much stuff and it's mostly not great and we don't get excited about new shows as much as we used to (even something like Doctor Who, which I really love, barely registered with me this year and I missed pretty much all of it even though I haven't missed an episode since the back half of season 6). There's really been nothing on my radar since iZombie's season finale. I recommended Clappy should binge Wrecked, which is just, like, a fine enough show to pass the time but nothing amazing and I'm not super jazzed about it anyway. I had no clue what the hell Glow was but apparently my friend's have been super into it. Is there any can't-miss TV I need to binge-watch this instant?

yeah I know that's the case but it's great when they find actors or actresses who look just like comic book characters they portray and they do it so we?

It is, sure, but given the choice I'd rather have a good actor that could do the character justice over a mediocre actor that looks like the character.

I honestly wished they'd get an actual blonde for Aquaman to make him look just like in the comics but still I'm giving the actor a chance?

Looks are the last thing that should be taken into account. Christian Bale didn't look a thing like Bruce Wayne but people still thought he was fine. Jason Momoa's a good actor (and if you haven't seen Game of Thrones you may want to hop on that bad boy right now, so you can get a taste of what he's like and also because it's like the biggest show on the planet right now) - if Aquaman sucks it won't be because of him.
