Cashier for a Week is a store item that has existed in two different forms, allowing you to become a Cashier (moderator) for a limited period of time. The original iteration was known as Become a Cashier for a Day, lasting from 2010 to 2015. Using the item would give you basic mod features for 24 hours, but Staff Lounge access was restricted starting in November 2012. On July 2nd, 2015, the item was removed from the store due to users abusing their power with it. A thread was created by moderator CNF1 which announced the removal. The item's removal prompted Storm to break into Patty Sponge's account as a protest.
After nearly 10 years, the item would eventually be retooled as Cashier for a Week as a prize store item during Arcade Anarchy IV. Due to that experiment going well, Cashier for a Week later became a permanent store item again on July 18th, 2025 for Plankton 16. It still costs 20,000 doubloons, Staff Lounge access is no longer barred and users can get mod permissions on Discord now. This iteration treats the privilege as an internship and your behavior will be closely monitored to prevent repeating the original item's issues.
