The '''Grand Spongecraftia Directory,''' often referred to as the "directory", "GSS", or "GSD" was built by MDPP due to a growing amount of countries forcing the creation of a new directory, replacing the 1st one built in [[Historic Spongecraftia]]. It was the world spawn point when you first joined [[SpongeCraft Classic]], replacing the old spawn point in Historic Spongecraftia City.

On SpongeCraft Classic, players would return to the Directory by typing the word "directory" in the chat, but since the map's return on [[SpongeCraft Frontiers]], the teleport now works using the command "/warp directory". Its function, however, has been supplanted in the SpongeCraft Forge by Waystones, which allow players to use a text-based menu and warp directly between points on the map without visiting the Directory.


The Grand Spongecraftia Directory is the first location on [[SpongeCraft]] to feature a command for quick access. Players can quickly get to the station by saying "directory" in the chat.
In addition to the portals, it is also home to "Da Controls", a room featuring button controls for world conditions and player effects, as well as two "lounges" for both SBC staff and [[Loyal Customers]]; however, the latter two have been unofficially open to the public since the closure of SpongeCraft Classic, which resulted in their plugin-based locks being disabled.


As a way to preserve the past, the portal for [[Historic Spongecraftia]] goes to the original spawn point instead of a different location. While moving the portal's destination to a different location in Historic Spongecraftia would be useful, most members agree that the original spawn point should be kept for preservation reasons.

GSS has been given an upgrade, with the main material of the building changing from Birch Wood Planks, to Prismarine Bricks, along with the Glowstone ceiling, which was changed to Sea Lanterns. It is bigger, and has only one floor now.

GSS was renamed to GSD (Grand Spongecraftia Directory) in June 2017 and the third directory was made to coincide with Squid 12.
