Not to be confused with the original server, SpongeCraft Classic.

SpongeCraft Frontiers (SCF) is a Minecraft server operated by SBC, originally launched on July 4, 2023, and rebooted on February 16, 2024.

Several years after the closure of SpongeCraft Classic in September 2019, then-newly-appointed Cashier HawkbitAlpha floated the idea of bringing a Minecraft experience back to SBC in November 2022. The server's future creation was confirmed during the April 2023 rollout of Seahorse 15, and it was later officially unveiled on July 3rd, 2023, opening to players the next day. In its initial iteration, SCF was based in the Frontierlands, and saw players develop a network of several villages across the map.

In January 2024, SCF went offline due to Hawk no longer being able to afford paying for the server. Upon attempting to relaunch the server in February, it was discovered that the host had deleted the server and all of its files due to a month passing in the time since, rendering all previous progress on SCF permanently lost. This led to the decision to initiate a full "V2" reboot of SCF, featuring a new map. The newly-regenerated SCF relaunched in February 2024, coinciding with Februquarry.

While originally launched as a vanilla survival server, since the reboot, SCF has been officially reformatted as a fully gamemode-optional server, with players being allowed to switch freely between creative and survival modes. In addition to its primary world of Overlandia, SCF also features Spongecraftia, the superflat world of SpongeCraft Classic, as a secondary realm, through the use of the Multiverse plugin. A real-time map of both worlds on the server is available to view in browsers through the SBC website.

Technical Info

Similar to SpongeCraft Classic before it, SCF is an "offline" Minecraft server, meaning that a paid account is not required to join and play; first-time players are, however, required to be whitelisted on the server by a member of staff. The server is hosted using Spigot, and uses a variety of plugins related to both quality-of-life improvements and fun in-game content. In addition to server-sided mods, the official texture pack of SCF is PureBDCraft, as seen in staff images of the server on this wiki.

SCF, a Minecraft Java Edition server, first launched with Spigot 1.12.2, before upgrading to 1.14.4 in September 2023, which it ran for the next two years. On July 10th, 2025, SCF upgraded to Purpur 1.18.1, and again to 1.18.2 two days later.
