Misheard Lyrics in Songs

Recommended Posts

When we were little, my sister and I heard a snippet of "In a Hick Town" on the radio in the car while my dad was flipping through the channels, and it sounded like "If you say your name is Buttcrack." Had us howling with laughter.

Actual lyric: You can see your neighbor's buttcrack

...yeah, not much better :P

Hearing this repeated chorus is to the point where I would hear something other than "say what you need to say." Case in point:

"Sandwich you need to say"
"Sandwich I need to save"
"Savage you need to say"
"Santa you need a sleigh"

Welcome To The Black Parade:

I thought "I'm unashamed, I'm gonna show my scars" was "I'm unashamed, I'm gonna shoot myself"

I thought "Defiant to the end" was "Take fire 'till the end"

Speaking of MCR songs, I had a unique misconception of a line in Na Na Na for quite some time. I thought "It's death or victory!" was "It's just perfunctory!". It's funny because the latter line could very well work seeing as he says it right after "Keep your apology!", and perfunctory means you do something with little effort and no actual heart.

"They are nowheres just as somebody's past for the rest of me" (Walkin' on the Sun - Smash Mouth) :bruh:

"tattoo detective" (Whip It)

"THIS ONE'S FOR THEM HOOD GIRLS, THEM GOOD GIRLS STRAIGHT MASTURBATE" (Uptown Funk)
