Hello folks, wondering what I am doing for my 5,000th post? I am going to do something nobody has ever done before - a rewind of 2012 on SBC! Sit back, relax, and read a nice little rewind on 2012 on SBC. :)

January 2012

2012 starts off as we’re still on vBulletin with some activity around here in month of January. But there was a huge fight in the old Roger’s Lightbulb forum (for the now dead team Good Noodles) when Dylan made a thread about adding MLP: FIM forums to SBC (although, Dylan admitted he dislikes the show earlier this year). Everyone was shocked and disagreed as he called everyone "too fucking stupid" for disagreeing with him, and the fight got worse. Several users responded to him saying that he should act mature and respect their opinions. Afterwards, tvguy made an apology thread, but only one user (JCM) really forgave him.

Then there was a small fight in the XAT where JCM believed OMJ didn't get the "Average Posts a Day" award fairly (an award for VB Experience, more on that below) and then he had a fight with Drag, jjs, teenj, SOF, and Ex about it. JCM then left SBC as a result, although he would later come back on May 5th, 2012.

Shortly later, the first ever GCA's were hosted by jjsthekid, and they were a success. This new format would combine the old Spin-Off and Member awards.

Speaking of VB Experience, that happened to launch on Dec 30th, 2011 (I know it says 2011, but it got more popular in early 2012, so why not? :P). VB Experience was a fun feature that gave members awards for certain things, and it caused quite an increase in users' doubloon amounts at the time.

Later that month, there was a short incident where jjs made a thread that was joking about CF, but CF got upset by it, but jjs felt bad so he deleted the thread. CF then forgave jjs.

Activity started to die down a bit, and the year wasn't off to a spectacular start with the fight 3 big incidents occurred this month.

February 2012

Some sweet new features were added like the Glove World Casino and Glove World Store Generator (thanks to hilaryfan80). We also got a nice Valentine's Skin around this time.

Later in the month, 70s announced he was resigning as an admin, surprising many users. Wumbo and jjs were then the only two admins at the time and they held an application, with CDCB becoming the new admin.

February started to die down a bit in activity, would things get better for SBC?

March 2012

Turns out, things got worse.

Several users spammed ACS' forum after he vandalized the SBC Wikia a bit, causing some conflicts on SBM with ACS posting about SBC spamming his forum. He also revealed some hate messages tvguy made about SBM, causing several SBMers to take ACS's side.

Then on March 12th, users were saddened to see Lunarpages had shut down SBC because it was using too many resources (Arcade, VB Experience, new Glove World, ect). The site was shut down for a week, and it was revealed it was impossible to get vBulletin back, so hilaryfan80 had to move the site to phpBB3 temporarily on March 17th, 2012, further decreasing the activity. Throughout the rest of the month, the site tried to turn itself around after the shutdown.

April 2012

SBC was struggling with activity, although tons of hilarious pranks were pulled during April Fools 2012 as the site design was all messed up to confuse users and several forums were in different languages.

Then on April 21st, 2012, Dylan announced SBC would be upgrading to Invision Power Board, which would lead the site into a new golden era. Some users were skeptic on this at first, but they eventually gave it a shot and construction on it began. This upgrade would be called "V8 Orca" - the 8th version of SBC.

May 2012

It was announced in early May that V8 Orca would launch on June 15th, 2012, much to the excitement of many members.

A turntable.fm room was made for SBC on April 28th, 2012, and it became a hot spot throughout the rest of the month, where members could share music (unfortunately though, it is only available for US members).

June 2012

Shortly before V8 Orca launched, some pictures from a SpongeBob Crew member's flickr (named Robertryan Cory) were posted, and he found them, to see users were hating on his drawings. He got mad at the users and joined SBC to call them out, and everyone apologized to him. This was SBC's first interaction with a crew member and it taught the users a valuable lesson: watch on what you say.

V8 Ocra was finally launched on June 15th, 2012 as it brought some great features for SBCers like status updates, return of doubloons, likes, etc.

Then, Dylan hosted the 2nd GCA's, which were even better than the first. Some older members like 4EverGreen, SG12, suitelife44, and Webby returned for V8 Orca. This brought joy to many members, showing V8 Orca was a success.

July 2012

To start off July, Teams finally launched after a few delays - a battle between Krusty Krushers and Good Noodles. Weapons were released (Swords for KKs and Staffs for GNs), and exclusive 4th of July weapons were released during this time period.

Then, Dylan announced a staff restructuring this month to improve the SBC staff after a lot of drama with them. It was a success as the Consultants group was abolished and the Representative Board replaced them - the Rep Board started off with the gang of 70s (as Chairman), Steel, SG12, Jelly, and CDCB.

Then in the middle of the month, we celebrated SB's 13th Anniversary with a contest that CNF won, and we made two new exclusive team weapons (Spat for KK and Jellyfish Net for GN) for this event.

Near the end of the month, some trolls impersonated ACS and threatened he would attack SBC with some SBMers on July 27th, 2012. But this proved out it was just a bunch of stupid trolls trying to scare us, and SBC was safe in the end.

August 2012

The same trolls from July began to impersonate some users this month. Then, we launched Orca 8.2 - which brought Time Control (background changes based off of time), return of Donations, Teams 2, and a new IRC chat to replace the XAT due to the consistant impersonations. The IRC chat turned out to fail though, and we shortly moved back to the XAT.

There were a few staff changes this month with the Representative Board. CDCB resigned due to some fighting issues, and Smiles replaced him. 70s was demoted from the board due to inactivity, and OMJ became a part of the team. Jelly replaced 70s as Chairman and she became the Chairwoman of the board.

On the note of Teams 2 from earlier, this was introduced for Orca 8.2. We decided to use a new ROBLOX server to have team battles on and had a beta testing session for it.

September 2012

To start off the month, termi and Seb resigned from their Moderator positions due to college, and this caused teenj to become the Senior Moderator. Later in the month we'd have elections to replace them, which will be explained in a few.

Then ssj4gogita4 became an SBC admin (as Director of Human Resources and Editor-in-Chief of SpongyNews), who was welcomed to the staff.

Then on September 15th, 2012, we had our Mediator Moderator applications, and Aquatic Nuggets won the spot on September 21st, 2012. Then a week later, we started our Report Moderator applications on September 22nd, 2012, and JCM won that application on September 26th, 2012. Congrats AN and JCM!

October 2012

October started off with a bang as we started our second ever Octerror Fest. We had a brand new Halloween skin, Halloween Jeopardy games, a Candy Hunt, Scary Art and Scary Story contests, and started the first ever official team battles on ROBLOX, for our Halloween Tournaments. The GNs proved to be a challenge as they won a few battles. The two teams also got a Lollipop Sword (for KKs) and a Wizard's Spell Staff (for GNs).

Also earlier in October, Box got into some conflicts with AN because he did not like the fact AN became a new mod, although the conflicts were eventually resolved.

We also introduced the Costume Store this month - which allowed users to get a Fish Avatar (as seen in posts) and dress it up with clothes and colors. It was overall a Spooktacular month!

November 2012

After Octerror Fest 2012, November started off with the launch of Orca 8.2, which introduced weekly banners and fixed a few bugs like with the navbar.

Throughout the month, we had our second Teams tournaments - the theme for this month was Mini-games, which included Paintball and hide and seek. The GNs of course, won again.

We also had the 3rd GCA's begin, hosted by jjsthekid, and the winners were announced November 23rd, 2012.

December 2012

2012 ends with our Christmas celebration throughout December 1st - December 26th. Clappy and Wumbo hosted 10 Christmas trivia contests with CNF as the overall winner, who got 100,000db and an iTunes gift card. We also had some new shop items and some cool (no pun intended) new Christmas skins and some other events like Dylan's Not a Creature Was Stirring. We originally had a Candy Cane sword for KKs and Christmas Tree Staff for GNs as Holiday exclusives, although those would be changed with what happens below..

The Team Tournaments continued but due to some constant complaints with unfairness because of the GNs always winning, we had a Team reform. We introduced 4 new teams: Goofy Goobers, Spy Buddies, Karate Choppers, and Jellyfish Hunters. To make things more fair, users had to take a quiz and the Magic Conch Shell would place them on a team.

To replace the GN and KK Christmas weapons, we introduced 4 new Holiday items for the teams: A Holiday Gun for SBs, a Holiday Spell Book for GGs, a Christmas Tree Staff for JHs (even though GNs had it before), and an Ice Throwing Star for KCs. Sadly though, ssj4gogita4 resigned from SBC as an admin not too long afterwards due to fighting. :(

Then, on Christmas Eve, hilaryfan80 had a giveaway contest, and the winners were SOF who won a Godly Staff, crushingmayhem who got 50,000db, Box who got the Ugly Sweater, and Clappy who got the Gogeta Hair.

Well, that’s end of SBC Rewind 2012. I hope you guys enjoyed this great year with us and be sure to check out SpongeBob Universe launching on New Years Day right here on SBC!

I would thank the SBC staff for working hard to prepare for SBU and of course a HUGE thank you to Dylan for making this the best year for SBC with Octerror Fest, V8 Orca, and much more.

I hope everyone has a Happy New Year, who knows what exciting things are in store for SBU whole, SBC, and the SB Wiki.

Thanks for reading, folks!

He actually did:

"JCM then left SBC as a result, although he would later come back on May 5th, 2012."

Good recap, but ssjgogita was not the first SBM member to become a part of SBC staff. Mothra was the first, she became an admin for a while back in December 2011 to help with the site designs.

Also, I'm used to your lulzy spelling errors, but you spelled rewind "rewimd" in the opening picture. XP

I think 2012 was the year of change for SBC/SBU. We went through engine changes, staff changes, group changes. new users joining, and many others in just 12 months. Compared to 2011, the year will be remembered as a year of struggle and reconciliation (at least at the end anyway).

You're actually wrong. It was my brother who was the first SBM member to become staff. Remember Face? :)
