jessica makes a cute gesture with her hands, showing off a very telling amount of fingers: eight. many people noticed that eight objects as opposed to nine started showing up in snsd promotions in 2014 around the time that jessica decided to leave the group, signifying that only eight girls would continue in the group as opposed to the iconic ot9 where it all began. jessica is obviously throwing shade here as she knows that this leave will occur in the future, and is signifying that she simply doesn't give a cao ni ma about all of the subtle hint-dropping SM will do about their opinion on her in new promotions for snsd as she is too busy worrying about her multi-million dollar company, her successful solo career, her extreme fame, and her wealthy status in korea. she truly is a business woman at heart.

yoona places one finger on her hand, clearly pointing to her face which is a place that many fanboys and fangirls (SONEs if you will) would describe as being beautiful. these misguided souls often refer to yoona as the visual of the group, and she probably wants to remind all of us that she is considered to be the visual even when she is boring. by pointing at her face she is reminding you that you probably think she is pretty and that you don't want to make a girl who is pretty like her upset by not buying her albums and singles throughout their promotions in japan. we can also observe that she is pointing to her mouth, the same mouth she used to release an awful solo song with 10cm that no one remembers and i wont even link here. 

tiffany pushes through her shoulders and shows off her whole body to the camera, showing the audience that she is clearly confident and ready to take on the new era that the girls will be promoting in japan. much in the same respect, her confident stature resembles the confident stance of Hideki Tojo, who was very important in japan during world war 2, and was a big fan of japanese imperialism over korea and much of the modern world as well. in the same respect, some of tiffany's snapchat posts would suggest that she believes the same things to be true as tojo, meaning that she is likely trying to evoke his image in the above gif, adding her own sensual idol flare to the mix. this doesn't come as much of a surprise with this being from a japanese release.

sunny gives a 'sexy' look with her face, and it's immediately clear that her new, long, beautiful weave is trying to be reminiscent of hairstyles she's had in the past, namely ones that are beloved such as visual dreams, oh!, and genie. this is all a distraction however, as the real focus of sunny's whole career is her boobs. by cropping them out of the gif, sunny is trying to make a bold statement that she doesn't just want to be known as the girl in snsd who has nice boobs, but also as the girl in snsd who has a nice face. in my opinion this will never work, as the good thing about sunny's long hair is it emphasizes that area so them being completely out of the shot makes her entire appearance in this gif entirely useless. however, it shows that she  no longer wants to be objectified, a message that is considered necessary by some in korea, a culture which heavily objectifies its women. 

sooyoung is of course doing the world-famous "small penis" gesture, complete with a knowing smirk for the camera showing that she knows that you know that she knows exactly what she's doing in this gif. of all the girls in the group who would be totally aware of a gesture like this, and whose image could benefit greatly from doing a gesture of this nature in one of their videos, it's no surprise that sooyoung would take this opportunity to mock you for your small penis in this gif. considering the average penis size in korea- a measly 3.8- it's likely that sooyoung is talking to just about any of the male fans watching this video in her home country. many guys in korea are known to have a 'thing' for women who are more dominate (which is why many guys in korea do feminine things, of course) and therefore would probably be turned on by the fact that sooyoung is completely making fun of the tiny little things they have in between their legs. this theory is also aided by the fact that sooyoung has proudly stated in their television show 'factory girl' that she likes black men, proving that she has no time for these tiny penises as she is looking for that BBC and cannot find it in the average korean man. 

yuri is another member of the group who would know exactly what sooyoung is trying to do, and therefore it comes as no surprise that her movement in this gif seems to mirror hers. while she doesn't do the gesture like sooyoung does it, she does seem to reciprocate the gesture by mirroring sooyoung's gesture. this is because yuri and sooyoung are both dance/rap line members, which means that they are inherently more sexual and will do gestures of this nature to appeal their fans. this shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone watching, as this will benefit their image heavily. yuri however may want to be less outright about that kind of thing than sooyoung, meaning she promotes her image in a far more subtle way. however, the same effect is created regardless of which girl does it. yuri has clearly mastered the art of dynamic subtlety. 

taeyeon's movement is simple- so simple that analysis is difficult. however, i think the reason that she does this simple head-bob and not much else is because when you see an image of her, you will immediately hear the climax from i. the vocal prowess taeyeon shows in that song, combined with the unnecessary but still iconic car-commercial-like beat that you hear throughout the track, is overwhelming to the human brain and is difficult to process. taeyeon is fully aware of this, so in an attempt to make things better for you, she does a simply and gentle gesture as opposed to anything overcomplicated that would cause you to have sensory overload. 

hyoyeon moves her head in a cool and dancer-like way, proving that she really is the dancer of the group and that even when she is trapped in only four walls and a tiny little frame, she can still out-perform the other girls with a funky dance move. her hair is also blonde in this video, and when you think of blonde things in k-pop, you likely first think of taeyeon. when you think of her you once again think of the climax to i. combining this with a talented dance from hyoyeon will ultimately combine to make an image so powerful that the human brain can't process it. hyoyeon's power knows no bounds, her strength knows no limit, and she knows that all of this is true, proving to be the real leader of snsd with one simple head movement.

seohyun does a little snap and then looks to the side. her move is simple, but it conveys the right amount of attitude that she needs to in order to show that she is still the youngest member of the group, even when the way she is styled may often disagree with her on that subject. she also seems to be in the gif for a lot less time than others, showing that she is very merciful and wants to give the other girls as much screentime as possible because her beauty is strong enough to only really need to be there for .2 seconds as opposed to the other girls .5 seconds. she is also last in the order of this gif because usually the last thing you see is what you remember, and she wants you to remember her so that you remember that she released an iconic solo song this year that was better than the other girls and that you can buy it on itunes now.
