The Gang Makes a Video Game (Lost Sunny Episode)

Was bored and whipped up this one-shot shitpost for the It's Always Sunny fans on here and our king Danny DeVito. This is definitely a real lost episode I've been given exclusive rights to post.

One day at Paddy's Pub, The Gang (Frank Reynolds, Dennis Reynolds, Charlie Kelly, Mac McDonald and Deandra Reynolds) are lazily lounging around. Dennis is boasting about his terrible women skills, Charlie is scribbling nonsensical drawings on napkins, Mac is trying to show off his "strength," Dee is attempting to write a screenplay, and Frank is counting money earned from a shady mafia deal. Suddenly, Mac stumbles upon an online article about how the video game industry is booming. He brings up the idea of creating their own video game to make quick cash. The gang gets excited, especially when they learn about the potential for winning a Game of the Year award at the prestigious Game Awards. They would love to brag about that honor for the rest of their lives. 

The gang gathers around a whiteboard in Paddy's. Dennis declares himself the "Creative Director," claiming he knows what the people want. Mac insists on making the game violent and filled with badass characters. Charlie suggests a plot involving rats, while Dee wants a game that’s similar to her childhood game TechPocalypse and empowers women but ends up pitching a character who’s just an exaggerated version of herself. Frank, who doesn't understand video games, demands that the game should have "loot crates" because he heard they’re profitable, and that the Pimp Chalice should be an easter egg somewhere. After much arguing and chaotic brainstorming, they settle on a post-apocalyptic theme, calling the game "Gamergeddon." The plot? Players must survive in a world overrun by mutant rats, corrupt government officials, and "Dee-like" zombie women, all while looting for riches. Dennis envisions himself as the main character: a suave, intelligent, hyper-masculine hero. Mac demands a sidekick who’s basically him but more ripped. Dee insists on having a female lead, but Dennis quickly turns it into a damsel in distress trope. Realizing they have no idea how to actually make a game, they decide to outsource the technical work to a cheap, sketchy developer they find online named YandereDev. Frank handles the financing, thinking he’s making a brilliant investment, but it turns out he’s skimping on essential costs.

Weeks later, the gang gets the first version of the game. It’s glitchy, poorly designed, and barely functional. Dennis quips that this describes most games nowadays so they at least have their pulse on what the people want. The characters don't look anything like themselves and the controls are a janky nightmare. The gang is furious, but instead of fixing the issues, they argue over who is to blame. Frank pulls out his gun and says he’s going to “talk” with the developer. Dennis, still confident as ever, decides to market the game himself. He makes an overly sexualized and pretentious trailer featuring himself in leather, dramatically spouting nonsensical lines about survival and "the human condition." Mac tries to add fight scenes but ends up injuring himself during the shoot. Dee’s scenes are cut entirely, leading to her storming off in frustration and Dennis calls her a bitch. Frank pays for a cheap bot-farm to inflate online buzz, leading to a brief, confusing spike in interest. However, the excitement quickly dies down when gamers (including MoistCr1TiKaL guest starring as himself) get their hands on the demo and flood social media with complaints about the buggy awful gameplay.

Despite everything, "Gamergeddon" somehow gets nominated for Game of the Year, likely due to Frank bribing Geoff Keighley. The gang is ecstatic and convinced they’re going to win, picturing themselves on stage, giving long-winded incoherent speeches, and becoming industry legends. The gang is at the Game Awards, dressed in ridiculous, over-the-top outfits. Henry Winkler (also guest starring as himself) takes the stage to present the Game of the Year award. As he announces the winner, the camera cuts to the gang, who are holding hands, trembling with anticipation. But the award goes to a well-designed and innovative indie game instead. The gang is shocked, outraged, and in denial. Dennis storms the stage, attempting to take the award, claiming it's rightfully theirs. Mac backs him up with poorly executed karate moves, while Dee tries to grab the microphone to rant about industry sexism. Charlie starts chasing Henry Winkler, thinking he's a mutant rat. Security intervenes, and the gang is dragged off the stage, still screaming about how they were robbed.

The gang defeatedly returns to Paddy's Pub, attempting to heal their bruised egos and bodies. Dennis insists they were sabotaged, Mac blames the developer and muses that in another world he’s a successful game developer (subtle Mythic Quest reference), and Dee claims she was the true star. Frank, trying to spin it into a win, declares that at least they’re notorious now. Charlie, still fixated on his rat obsession, suggests they make a sequel where the rats are even bigger and more terrifying. The camera pans out as they all start yelling over each other again, planning their next big (and inevitably doomed) venture.
