markerbob_101048
Do you think that the season 8 holdovers were produced independently from the start of season 9, or were they working on the beginning of season 9. Do you think they made the last few episodes of season 8 4:3 on purpose to keep them consistent with the rest of the season. I understand that other seasons overlapped, but it's weird doing this is the show had already transitioned to HD, it might confuse some viewers to air new episodes in standard definition after a few HD episodes had already aired. Salmon
All of season 8 was produced before s9. Nickelodeon being Nickelodeon just held some episodes back longer to air

WinterArcanine
Every season has some episodes airing at the same time/after some of the next season. This is pretty standard for Nickelodeon. As for hello bikini bottom, I don't know because I didn't watch nickelodeon much at that time and didn't know it existed until 9a was finished
President Squidward
The better question is why is Season 8 filled with so much filler
