Hello everyone! sbl here.

A message akin to this one has already been posted onto the #spongecraft Discord channel by jjs, but in case you missed it, this is an important announcement for all SpongeCraft players, as well as SBC members.

After almost 5 years of fun, craziness, and wholesome moments, we at SBC have decided to unfortunately discontinue SpongeCraft, effective on September 19th. We will be shutting down the ability to download the launcher, and the server itself.

There are many reasons for this news, but some include maintenance and tidiness issues, a restructure of SBC's features, a huge lack of activity, and more. It doesn't make sense for JCM to pay for it anymore, with updates and upgrades to higher versions with more stability being too complicated or practically impossible to achieve. We've decided that it would be best to put it out of its misery.

Now, we obviously would not want to just delete every single part of the game, and all that hard work, so we will be backing up the map after September 14th.. You're still free to play on SC until the date of discontinuation. The final, version 1.12.2 map will be the only SC-related thing available for use and download on SBC after, on, or before September 19th.

We would like to personally thank each and every SC user for making SC what it was: a great successor for teams/forum events, a hangout spot, and generally, a fun and sometimes chaotic place to be in. If anyone has anymore questions, ask me, jjs, OWM, or another SpongeCraft user/staff member on Discord.

TL;DR - SpongeCraft is shutting down. The launcher and server will no longer be available for use. The map will be backed up after September 14th, before we discontinue SC, meaning you're still free to play on SC until the date of discontinuation.
