Justice Antonin Scalia is dead at 79

I just read about this and there have been a lot of mixed reactions about his death. Some people have been celebrating it, kind of like what happened when Margaret Thatcher died for political reasons. Others are deeply saddened by the loss. Whatever you thought of the guy himself or his political views, this will have a lot of implications and could potentially impact who Obama decides to bring on as the new Supreme Court justice to replace Scalia. Scalia was a conservative and I also believe he voted against the gay marriage bill in his life, but he was known for other stuff as well.

This story from the NY Times does a good job summarizing his life and work. He died in his sleep.

Man, the winter of death has even touched politics now.

Definitely not someone I would say I supported as a moderate liberal, but still death is a sad event. R.I.P.

I've never heard of this guy and don't really know much about politics, but RIP anyways.

It's not fair to celebrate his death IMO even though he was very against gay marriage and all that.
