If Squidward Came Out as Gay?

WhoBob gave me this idea.

Same-sex marriage was legalized in the U.S. in June, and it's becoming more and more normal in the developed world. Good Luck Charlie featured a gay couple some years ago - what if SpongeBob did the same?

Everyone seems to think SpongeBob's gay, but I think if the show decided to push the envelope, it'd be more reasonable that Squidward was gay.

Thoughts on this? yay or nay? Is it necessary? Unnecessary? If there was to be a gay character, should it be a one-time thing?

He's dated women so make him bisexual... and don't make a deal of it just have him express interest or date a male Squid Squilliam and then that's that.

Then we can sit back, watch, and read all the complaints on OneMillionMoms.com while we happily drink the tears of the "STOP BEING SO POLITICALLY CORRECT!!!?!!!!!!!" crowd. :swag:

I made different reasons why it's a right thing and a wrong thing.

WRONG

1. Spongebob is still a very popular show, doesn't mean controversy will still be had if this actually happens.

2. Spongebob doesn't follow continuity.

3. It RUINS some continuity it has, take Love that Squid for example.

RIGHT

1. Make a special kind of episode just for gay rights

2. If this actually happened, this may be the first actual time this show can follow continuity

3. We can learn different aspects of his character.

1. I don't get this

2. Still seeing him liking men would be nice.

3. Umm, Squidward can be bisexual.

While I don't have a problem if a cartoon wants to show romance or if a character is gay/bisexual/etc, is this really necessary in SpongeBob? And yes, I'm aware SB has focused on romance before with episodes like Krusty Love and Love that Squid, but those episodes are fairly rare.

That being said, if this hypothetically did happen, I wouldn't be up in arms about it.

Please stop with the Teen Titans Go bait. I know a lot of people fall for it but it's pretty aggravating.

What? I'm allowed to bring up the show when it's relevant to a conversation, aren't I? People were discussing romance in Western cartoons and if there could be a gay couple and all that.

Although, now that I think of it, Raven must be bi. She loves Beast Boy too. Just saying.

and this has to do with

It's a gay couple in a kids cartoon. They could to the same with Sponge and Pat.

yeah but lets not go off-topic about it. We are discussion more of Squidward's character than other gay couples in kids shows.
