Jane Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Not too happy with this being a follow up, but it's still a few years off so I guess they're giving Paul the time to make it properly. And maybe the show crew will join it at some point?
Jane Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 (edited) The film will be mostly traditionally animated assuming that nothing has changed since Vince and Paul once talked. It will also definitely contain some CG/live action. https://twitter.com/VincentWaller72/status/664560052338974720 Edited November 12, 2015 by Teamwork

SBManiac Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 You know, if they're really doing a third movie, I kind of wish it would just be 100% "underwater" with 2-D animation (which most likely isn't going to happen) since even the first movie had live-action elements. It'd be nice for something a little different for once. Oh well, I guess we'll see what happens.

I don't mind CGI as long as the film is mostly 2D, but I also wish the characters would stay underwater this time.
Sauce Mama Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 ^ I agree, I've always wanted a Spongebob movie where they actually stay under water. Judging how some parts will be CGI I doubt it will happen. Which is totally fine with me too don't get me wrong, cuz I like CGI, I'm just saying.
Slippin' Freddy Posted January 11, 2016 Author Posted January 11, 2016 Animator Will Finn has announced that he is story-boarding on the upcoming movie. Will Finn: Quote #storyboarding on the next #Spongebob movie as of today. All proprietary information is a closely guarded secret of the Krusty Krabb Korporation - so no spoilers! 7
Jane Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 (edited) I'm gonna assume they're just boarding a pitch to Paramount since Vince says they're not even greenlit yet. Plus it doesn't come out for 3 years anyways. But I really DO love that guy's artwork. Really loose and expressive. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Will_Finn Looking at his Wikipedia page. He is a very experienced and well-rounded guy. He's worked on a lot of great stuff. Edited January 11, 2016 by Teamwork

I have nothing against CGI, I just think it's been used enough when it comes to SpongeBob movies.
Jane Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 http://collider.com/jonathan-aibel-glenn-berger-kung-fu-panda-3-trolls-interview/ Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger, who wrote SOOW and the Kung Fu Panda movies will be penning the script.
The Drifter Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 I have no hope for this movie, but we'll see how it turns out. We'll see.
Jane Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 I noticed Paul hasn't posted on Twitter for around a year. I hope he's doing well. He must be very stressed right now.

abisert Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 I actually can't wait to see how this turns out. Do you guys have any opinions on the release date?
4EverGreen Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Not sure if anyone knows this yet, but I have heard from a VERY reliable source, that John Kricfalusi and Bob Camp (the two main guys behind "Ren and Stimpy") are working hard to create a brand NEW theatrical "Ren and Stimpy" short to premiere BEFORE the third "Spongebob Squarepants" movie, so if THAT'S not a reason to get excited about this movie, than I don't know WHAT is!
Jjs Goodman Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 (edited) The movie's release has been delayed to August 2nd, 2019: http://deadline.com/2017/03/spongebob-loud-house-sherlock-gnomes-1202054433/ Credit to CDCB for finding this. Edited March 29, 2017 by jjsthekid 1
