It's finally here! SpongeCraft is the all-elusive SBC release of Minecraft.

Here's some Q&A about it:

Do I need a copy of Minecraft to play?

No! You do not. That's the beauty of it! Just download SpongeCraft and go!

Is this illegal?

Not one bit.

Will SpongeCraft mess up my current Minecraft install?
Nope. It has its own .minecraft folder.

What will we do with it?

When we're not doing events, SpongeCraft will be open for anyone to get on creative mode and build anything. You can build a house, a village, whatever! It's set to make a superflat world so you can do whatever you want with it. Here's some events that we will do:

  • PVP battles
  • Hide and seek
  • Arena
  • Last one standing

And much more. We haven't given it complete thought yet, but I'm sure we'll come up with some great ideas!

Will teams be involved in this?

Eventually yes. If you haven't signed up for a team yet, do so here.

When is the first event?

Next week! It will be on February 7th at 7 PM EST. The first event will be.......... arena! Fight all the zombies, skeleton archers, etc. to get the most points for the red or blue team!

Are there any extra features I can get?

Yes! You can buy a custom Minecraft skin or a name glow from the doubloon store. A custom Minecraft skin would allow you to change your appearance in-game to anything you'd like. The name glow will make your name glow the color you specify in-game.

How do I change my in-game fish character color?

It's directly attached to iFish. Change your iFish color, and your in-game character will change too!

The default iFish character design:

Okay, so where do I download it?

Here. :D It's available on Windows, Mac, and Linux. Eventually there will be a SpongeCraft homepage, so watch out!

Sounds amazing and promising, but terminoob beat you to the "SpongeCraft" thing.

We know. The name was stolen. jjs pointed it out during development. :P

We take full responsibility in name stealing.

No matter what I'm doing it's coming up blank with results, and I mean it still has me stuck at the download page, so what the heck do I do now?

EDIT: Nevermind it's just that my computer likes to hide these things from me. :P

Everything on my computer says it has viruses

As the download page said in the pop-up, it doesn't actually have viruses, even though anti-virus programs may interpret it that way. Just ignore any warnings it gives you, and disable it temporarily if you have to. hilaryfan80 would not intentionally install a virus on your computer.

It doesn't even open it up- Norton apparently says something about automatically closing it down tho

I'm not sure how to do this with Norton or any other antivirus but if you have avast (and Windows, although it should pretty much be the same for any), do this in order to be able to install and play SpongeCraft with no worries:

  1. Open Avast
  2. Navigate to Settings ---> Active Protection
  3. Turn off Web Shield and File System Shield for whatever time
  4. Close out Avast
  5. Go to SpongeCraft installation page and install
  6. Right-click SpongeCraft icon on Desktop
  7. Go to Properties
  8. Copy whatever is in the Target box
  9. Open Avast again
  10. Navigate to Settings ---> General
  11. Scroll down to Exclusions
  12. Paste what you copied earlier into the box shown
  13. Click Add and then OK
  14. Repeat steps 10-11 to make sure the exclusion was added.
  15. There, now you should be able to play with no worries!
