  1. Stuck in the Wringer: Ah, it's the episode that made me want to turn the Bikini Bottomites into sashimi. Patrick himself was completely incompetent, as he did absolutely nothing to help SpongeBob; in fact, he was an active liability. If I had a friend that treated me like Patrick treated SpongeBob in this episode, I would never speak to them again. To add insult to injury, SpongeBob was the one that was lambasted by the Bikini Bottomites. The entertainment value wasn't there, the story felt aimless, and the ending was a spork stab in the heart.

SpongeBob, You're Fired: Wait, I used to find this episode meh back in 2016? Ok...well, the problems in this episode became more noteworthy after viewing this episode a few times. First of all, the episode mainly consists of lots of padding to fill up 22 minutes. I mean, it could have been an 11-minute episode if it wasn't for all of those random scenes that didn't really contribute to the episode's plot. Also, it misappropriated elements from previous episodes, like Bummer Vacation, Model Sponge, and Le Big Switch. How original. Krabs firing SpongeBob over a nickel? Ridonculous. One thing that stood out to me was how SpongeBob was able to make delicious snail food for Gary, yet he was kicked out of 4 restaurants after he made various Krabby Patty-esque dishes. Truly, it rendered the restaurant scenes useless. While this "special" had some redeeming qualities, including the very beginning, SpongeBob saying "I'm ready!", the scenes with Patrick's mutated head, and the Killer Krabby Patty saving SpongeBob, it's a really uninspired episode that had virtually no reason to exist.

  2. Truth or Square: It's meh for me. Most of the segments felt like a bunch of DVD extras cobbled together without any coherence, but I actually liked some of them, like the alternate theme songs (even though Unreal Estate did a better job), the vintage Krusty Krab commercial, and the wedding scene. The Patchy scenes were just a cheap tactic to force as many celebrity cameos as possible without having a good reason to do so. A Day like This was definitely the best part of the episode, if I have to be honest. I can see why it's such a polarizing episode; some people found it to be disappointing for a 10th anniversary episode.

Ink Lemonade: Proof that not every post-sequel episode is a winner. In fact, this episode was the first post-sequel episode I found to be absolutely terrible. Again, it's filled to the brim with redundant padding, Patrick was a total butthead, and the bandage scene as well as the ending made me seriously uncomfortable. It really shared a lot of elements with bad season 6 episodes (grossout, unlikeable Patrick, excess Squidward torture, and inconsistent pacing).

Squid Baby: The "jokes" in this episode came across as really problematic. Head trauma is a real issue and this episode treated it horribly. People that experience severe head trauma can sometimes only communicate by crying and screaming. I felt really offended by this episode. On top of that, almost everyone in this episode was extremely grating. SpongeBob and Patrick acted really dumb, the doctor was pretty much useless, and Mr. Krabs still made Squidward work despite the fact that Squidward regressed back to the functionality of an infant. Also, there were some really revolting visuals thrown in. Did we really have to see a close up of Squidward's diaper? Eww...

  3. I'll post some more of my thoughts.

    24-10:

    Spoiler

Slide Whistle Stooges: I actually enjoyed this episode, not gonna lie. The sound of the slide whistles didn’t really bother me all that much, and the visual gags were entertaining, to say at the least. Squidward joining in SpongeBob and Patrick’s antics added to the entertainment value, but the ending left a lot to be desired.

House Sittin’ For Sandy: One of the most tiresome episodes of the show. Nothing of substance happened until around the 8-minute mark; instead, we have loads of padding just to fill up 11 minutes. It’s a shame, since the idea of SpongeBob doing some house sitting showed at least some promise, but the execution was absolutely terrible and lifeless.

Boating Buddies: SpongeBob’s characterization in this one can speak for itself. He came across as really….uncanny, and I don’t like it. Squidward being tormented for literally no reason was also no bueno, especially towards the end. With that being said, this episode actually had a couple redeeming qualities. I like the “chocolate rain” reference, the tape recorder scene and the chalkboard scene were both pretty funny, and the shrink ray scene was interesting. Despite a few funny scenes, it was a bad episode that showed SpongeBob at his creepiest.

Summer Job: And I thought that Boating Buddies was bad….Summer Job is literally Boating Buddies but worse. On top of being excruciatingly boring, SpongeBob was even more annoying and uncanny. The “twist” ending, if I can call it that, was a slap in the face. Moreover, this episode ruined one of my favorite shippings of the show (Kruff). While this episode didn’t have any grossout jokes, it was just so lifeless and agonizing that it’s bottom 5 worthy. Sheer lack of quality, man.

One Coarse Meal: Oh boy, this episode. It started out...fair, I suppose? For season 7 standards? Yeah. My biggest complaint with this episode was that it was so lifeless. Plankton’s dream sequence was pretty depressing, and Mr. Krabs was just...detestable. It wasn't the worst episode of the show, but again, it suffered from a lack of quality.

You Don’t Know Sponge: You don’t know how vacuous this episode was. Sorry, I had to. Patrick not knowing that SpongeBob was male or even the shape of him was just absolutely ridonculous. Yes, Patrick is supposed to the ditz, but this episode took it way too far. Most of the episode consisted of SpongeBob and Patrick taking a boring quiz anyway, so what’s the point?

Little Yellow Book: The beginning was okay, but yeah, it’s still a bland episode that showed Squidward at one of his worst appearances yet. He was punished by the end, but overall, it was just a poor man’s version of Fools in April. Not impressed with this one. Not impressed.

Demolition Doofus: It’s safe to say that both SpongeBob and Puff were irritating in this one. The demolition derby was somewhat entertaining, but at the same time, it’s kinda uncomfortable to watch. Well, the whole episode was unsettling, to say at the least. Yeah, Puff has dealt with SpongeBob’s antics for a very long time, but this episode took her rage breaking point too far.

Keep Bikini Bottom Beautiful: They might as well call it “Keep Bikini Bottom Trashy”. Sorry. This episode repeated the same joke 8 times within 11 minutes. I enjoyed the beginning with Squidward's little walk cycle, but everything went downhill from there. Also, the scenes with the trash house were quite revolting. It’s not really horrendous, this episode was still bland, humorless, and all around just pointless.

The Main Drain: What is with season 7 being so bland? The plot was really nonsensical, it’s full of padding, and the comedy was lacking. It’s safe to say that this episode really went down the drain.

The Clash of Triton: This special is a total scam. Both Neptune and Triton were huge jerks; who was I supposed to root for? Overall, the whole special felt like a really tedious soap opera instead of an “epic battle”. Also, the scene with SpongeBob’s bad breath was really repulsive, just like most grossout jokes from season 6. Indubitably terrible.

Big Sister Sam: No joke, I actually find this episode to be the black sheep of season 7. Almost everything about this episode aggravated me. Sam was essentially like jerk Patrick, except worse. Way worse. She was essentially just an annoying brute that only existed to be a living liability towards the citizens of Conch Street. Definitely reeked of absolutely terrible and problematic stereotypes. Patrick was also really irksome in this one as well; it seems like he didn't care about SpongeBob at all.

Squid’s Visit: Uh... I will give it credit for at least trying to do something out of the box, but the execution, yet again, sucked. SpongeBob came across as uncanny and annoying, and for the most part, the episode wasn’t funny. I liked with scene with Squidward and the vacuum, but overall, the episode just felt so unsettling.

The Nitwitting: I’ve only seen this episode once, and it’s best to say that it’s probably the only season 12 episode that I truly dislike. It’s pretty unfunny, the plot felt so confusing, and the destruction gag was so repetitive and redundant. Where’s the substance? Entertainment value? Anything? It’s so empty-headed.

    Dishonorable mentions:

    Spoiler

To Save a Squirrel: SpongeBob and Patrick going insane was pretty funny, but other than that, it’s a sleep-inducing episode that has no reason to exist. Really forgettable and it felt rushed.

InSPONGEiac: Pretty much a generic season 8 episode that exists to me. It was relatable, but not very memorable.

Krusty Katering: I found this one to be decently hilarious, but I see why some people found this episode to be too hyper and annoying.

The Card: Patrick’s flaws were pretty obvious, but I can’t really hate this episode. The beginning was hilarious, and I did get a kick out of Patrick saying “SpongeBob, you can’t expect my usual brand of stupidity”.

The Play’s the Thing: Again, we had a premise that sounded interesting on paper, but the execution was sooo dull. It could easily put someone to sleep.

Gullible Pants: Weird knock-off version of Squid’s Day Off that had little entertainment value or anything memorable. It stood out…for being really boring.

SpongeHenge: It’s intriguing, I guess? The ending was flat-out disturbing, but most of the episode wasn’t too shabby. At least it was something unusual, so I’ll give it a pass for experimentation.

Doodle Dimension: Despite some rather polarizing opinions, I found DD to be a really solid episode. It was quite hilarious, the callbacks were pretty cool, and I enjoyed the amount of creativity that this episode had, especially with such a minimalist dimension design. It wasn't as awesome as Frankendoodle, but I would say that it was definitely worth a watch.

A Day Without Tears: Annoying beginning, inoffensive but boring second half. Gotta admit, I loved some scenes like “You have cried 43 times”, the aesthetically pleasing sunset, and SpongeBob hugging Squidward towards the end. Honestly, the episode itself was pretty relatable since I am really sensitive, but it could have been done better.

Cephalopod Lodge: Probably my top guilty pleasure episode. It was so stupid and the other cephalopods tortured Squidward for no logical reason, but it was actually really funny. I loved the albino eel, the initiation, and I would totally join “The Feather Friends”. I simultaneously hated and loved this episode.

    10-6

    Spoiler

Smoothe Jazz at Bikini Bottom: This episode could easily put someone to sleep. Other than that, it was a really spiteful episode that’s completely devoid of jokes or anything of substance. Patrick was thrown in without any good reason, and this episode could have been 4 minutes long if it wasn’t for all of that filler.

Are You Happy Now: I actually, uh…...like this episode? *runs away.* SpongeBob was actually pretty likeable and the dark humor (including the birdcage joke) was actually pretty intriguing. The depressing atmosphere was executed fairly well, and it was a relatable episode to me. I could see why a lot of people have a problem with this episode, however. It’s not an episode for everyone.

Someone’s in the Kitchen with Sandy: ...And we’re back with confusing plots and blatant double standards. The scenes with Sandy’s pelt rubbed me the wrong way, and overall it reminded me of Imitation Krabs but without any entertainment value.

Choir Boys: Garbage episode. I wanted to mount SpongeBob’s rear end over my fireplace after watching this episode. He came across as really creepy and malicious, and Squidward did absolutely nothing to deserve SpongeBob’s torture. The throat clearing gag was absolutely agonizing, SpongeBob yelling “Can I come?” was really grating, the pacing was awful, and the substance was not there.

Pet or Pests: To say that I loathed this episode would be a massive understatement. Pet or Pests was a combination of everything bad that could happen in a SpongeBob episode. The visuals were revolting, the “jokes” were obnoxious (especially the doorbell gag, ugh), the episode moved at a snail’s pace, and the plot was really inconsistent. It was my least favorite episode back in 2016, and it’s still my least favorite episode as of 2021.

  4. Even though I didn't add my list this year, I might as well explain some of my opinions

    Spoiler

Cent of Money: While I do indeed find the episode really boring and cruel, I liked how SpongeBob reprimanded Krabs on his actions. It's certainly a well-deserved catharsis moment, so I can't really hate this episode.

The Monster Who Came to Bikini Bottom: Pretty much a snorefest all the way through. It's nothing really that egregious, but MAN this episode was incredibly dull.

Battle of Bikini Bottom: Gotta be honest, I enjoyed this episode quite a bit. Yeah, there was some grossout that really didn't need to be there, but the whole dirty vs. clean conflict was quite hilarious.

Sun Bleached: I liked the Radical soda gag, but other than that, this episode was tough to look at. Pretty much a generic season 6 episode with some added grossout. Also, the whole idea that "oh, people who use sunscreen are uncool" was on the problematic side for me.

Restraining SpongeBob: The concept had merit, but the execution was poorly done. The "Can I walk with you?" scene got a chortle out of me, but I can't really find anything else that stands out to me positively. Patrick and Krabs were both really unlikeable and Squidward ended up being mistreated for no valid reason.

Breath of Fresh Squidward: The first half was quite solid, but it went on a DOWNWARD SPIRAL in the second act. SpongeBob was a jerk for no justifiable reason throughout the climax, but at least I can say that the scenes where Squidward was having fun were all kinda cute. Overall, save SpongeBob's behavior towards the end, it's a middle-of-the-road episode for me. The whole "Freaky Friday" conception could have been done better.

The Fish Bowl: Weird, I used to find this episode decent back in 2016. Nowadays, I can definitely notice some...noteworthy flaws. Patrick's behavior was really problematic and again, it wastes a great premise. Gotta admit, I found Squidward's obsession with ice cream to be really cute, however.

Plankton's Regular: I mean, I can certainly see that they were at least trying to experiment by focusing on a background character, but that ending was just terrible. I would have given it a pass if it didn't follow the idea that "oh, the status quo MUST be followed at all times".

Hide and Then What Happens: Absolutely nothing, that is the answer. But seriously, it's yet another episode that is devoid of both humor and pacing. Seriously. The plot moves at a snail's pace. Patrick Not-Star was funny, but that's about it. I would say that it's definitely moot.

Atlantis Squarepantis: The SpongeBob segments were really visually pleasing, especially during Sandy's and Plankton's songs. The songs themselves? Ehhhh...... I would say that the bubble song was the best of the bunch by far, but I've definitely heard better. As for the Patchy segments, they were cringeworthy to say at the least. They COULD have been ridiculously funny, but the jokes didn't really work here.

Sponge-Cano!: The premise feels really convoluted, and they took Squidward's spitefulness up to eleven here. I mean, yeah, Squidward is supposed to be a cynical jerk, that's what his character has been like for well over a decade, but there is such a thing called "crossing the line". No thanks.

New Fish in Town: Uh...the premise could have worked if Howard wasn't as bland as unseasoned chicken. Well, the entire episode was really bland. The clapping scenes were quite funny though, so I WILL give it that.

Yours, Mine, and Mine: Do I really have to say how much I, uh, strongly disliked Patrick's actions in this one? I think that it's pretty obvious that he acted excruciatingly problematic. Next.

A SquarePants Family Vacation: Aw man, they wasted such an awesome premise. They break-a my heart, since this episode gave me such high expectations, and then I got a bland special in return. Nothing interesting really happened until the gift shop scene, and even that was a disappointment, to say at the least. the road song kinda slaps though, time to get pelted with bananas.

The Sponge Who Could Fly: Not gonna lie, I'm shocked that this received a lower rating than YOURS, MINE, AND MINE of all episodes. I actually enjoyed this episode. Well, at least I can certainly say that the Patchy segments were absolutely hilarious. The SpongeBob segments themselves were on the weak side, but all three of the songs were decent. I'm not a fan of the Bikini Bottomites in this episode at all, however.

To Love a Patty: SpongeBob's obsession with the Krabby Patty is actually more cringy than creepy, but SpongeBob beating up on the clams was no bueno. Also, the rotten patty closeups were well....repugnant to say at the least. Ew. If I wanna see an episode where a character falls in love with food, I'd watch "Burrito" from We Bare Bears. The concept is similar, but "Burrito" was executed well, while "To Love a Patty" was not.

Shuffleboarding: The title is a pretty obvious bait-and-switch...which would be somewhat forgiving if the episode wasn't moot. Oh dear, this episode was definitely lousy in terms of writing. SpongeBob and Patrick throwing people into jail for inadequate reasons (being too old, chewing gum, having a shoe untied) was just ridonculous. That's like having a boss fire someone just because the boss didn't like the color of someone's shirt. It's pretty dumb, to say at the least.

All That Glitters: Would you look at that, it's the only episode in season 4 that I truly despise. SpongeBob crying for half the episode was, well, irritating, and the amount of filler in this episode was absolutely ridonculous. Oh, and the spatula was a really insensitive French stereotype. Enough already.

The Splinter: Started out boring yet tolerable, but became unwatchable once "doctor" Patrick intervened. Even without the grossout, this episode would still be a very dull mess. The jokes are nonexistent and the pacing was really pathetic.

Waiting: I'd rather wait in line at my local Best Buy on Black Friday than watch this episode.

Rodeo Daze: Geez, season 7 had a boatload of boring episodes. This episode tried to fool me into thinking that it was good since the beginning was reminiscent of season 2, but instead I got an utter disaster. The middle was absolutely agonizing to sit through; while it doesn't have anything too repulsive to the eyes (save the rotten patty in SpongeBob's ear), it was incredibly tedious. Nothing of substance really happened that was memorable or funny, so what's the point? The ending left me discombobulated as well; I mean, is it supposed to be a dollar store version of Pressure? That's what it feels like to me.

A Pal for Gary:  Well, this episode really turned up SpongeBob's obliviousness up to eleven. SpongeBob's failure to listen to the peddler's warning definitely rendered him irredeemable. I understand that SpongeBob is innocent to a fault, but there's a difference between being naive and being an incognizant jerk. The first half was uninteresting, while the second half was a pain to sit through. I don't despise the second half as much as I used to back in 2014/2015, but it's still pretty egregious. Puffy Fluffy's monster design looks pretty cool, however.

Fungus AMONG US:  hey look, the spongesons predicted the covid-19 pandemic.  Ok, I'll be serious. The best word to describe this episode would be uninspired. The "jokes" revolve around SpongeBob and various other characters being covered in the disgusting mold, and the ending was pretty anti-climatic. I did get a chuckle out of the British-accented health inspector, but that's not enough to redeem this episode.

Face Freeze: Dollar store version of Sailor Mouth. I did get some chuckles out of the faces, but the whole episode itself was pretty dull.

Whatever Happened to SpongeBob?: I liked the Bubble Poppin' Boys, but that's about it, really. New Kelp City wasn't really that special, and of course we got one of the most revolting faces of the show. This episode could have been 11 minutes, but nope, instead we got 22 minutes of padding, mean-spiritedness, and non-existent pacing.

Trenchbillies: Certainly my least favorite episode from the Legends of Bikini Bottom. It's filled to the brim with unfunny hillbilly stereotypes, unappealing character designs, and an extremely uninteresting plot. Krabs getting hitched to Ma Angler was honestly more cringeworthy than anything else.

  5. Spoiler

Ah, this episode. An episode so controversial, that some people consider it both the worst special AND the worst episode of all time, while others consider it middling or good. Back in 2016, I claimed that this episode was overhated(lol), but as I started to look at my old review, I realized that this episode had quite a few noteworthy problems that I have failed to address back then.

One thing that really stood out like an ugly wart was the reference to unemployment. Truth be told, I never took that into account back then, but it really annoyed me when Patrick thought that being unemployed is awesome. No, sir, it's not. This episode really did disparage those who rely on social service programs to, well, survive. I'm middle class, but I can definitely say that the vast majority of people that rely on safety net programs aren't lazy. It's just a terrible stereotype. Political messages in SpongeBob can work, but here, it was just botched. At least SpongeBob did say "unemployment may be fun for you, but I need to get a job" in a relatable way, which meant that SpongeBob was indeed motivated to get back to work. All in all, the rather unfortunate portrayal of unemployment wasn't the worst part of this special, but it's still worthy of attention.

From the get go, the conceptualization of SpongeBob being fired from his job was pretty derivative. SpongeBob's been fired from his job twice: once in Karate Choppers, and once in Squid on Strike. Here, the reason that Krabs fired SpongeBob was just....preposterous to say at the least. He fired the little sponge over a nickel. It's the equivalent of a manager firing someone just because the manager didn't like the color of that person's hair. Pretty illogical, right? Well, that really took Krabs' greed up to eleven. Krabs' greed in Penny Foolish was also pretty bad, but Penny Foolish was at least somewhat interesting and creative. SpongeBob, You're Fired, on the other hand, is the opposite of innovative. It appropriated so many ideas from seasons past, like Le Big Switch, Bummer Vacation, and Krusty Dogs. I get that coming up with unorthodox storylines for a show that's been on TV for well over a decade is not the easiest feat, but I don't really think that's a valid excuse. Many s11 episodes are proof that the writers can still come up with experimental ideas, and the funny thing is that the entirety of s11 came out after this episode.

SpongeBob spent a great deal of this episode completely dejected. While being fired from a job can be absolutely devastating for a lot of people, SpongeBob's job is not his only personality trait. If it was, it would make him a flat character. Plus, Bummer Vacation portrayed SpongeBob's workaholic side in a much better way. Well, I will say that SpongeBob did show his caring side towards Gary, which was quite nice considering the trainwreck that was A Pal for Gary. Also, SpongeBob's depression was portrayed in a genuine way.

After SpongeBob and Patrick visit Sandy, SpongeBob is motivated to find another job. SpongeBob tried finding employment at 4 different restaurants, but to no avail. Ok, while I definitely think that SpongeBob saying his classic catchphrase was the best part of the episode since it brought back all of those good pre-movie and early post-movie (s4 and s5) vibes, it was ruined by a parade of filler. Filler isn't inherently bad, but if I can cut out large parts of the episode and lose nothing of substance, it can be a problem. Pointless would be the best word to describe the scenes where SpongeBob worked at 4 different restaurants. Again, it really felt like a poor man's version of Le Big Switch, due to SpongeBob turning everything into Krabby Patties. In Le Big Switch, SpongeBob tried to use all sorts of ingredients, but they all turned into Krabby Patties. It was ridiculous, but hilarious nonetheless thanks to the overall absurdity. In this episode, on the other hand, there's no absurdity or hilarity in the restaurant scenes. Just derivative, unfunny, and tired dreck. Inoffensive, but uninspired. Another thing that really irked me was that SpongeBob was able to successfully prepare delicious food for Gary and Patrick, and he did it without having to put their food between two hamburger buns. Consequently, this rendered the restaurant scenes completely useless.

We then get the weenie guy, the pizza man, the taco dude, and the noodle mate all fighting over SpongeBob, until a giant Krabby Patty comes and rescues the sponge. I'll be frank: I actually really enjoyed the fight scene. Quite a bit, as a matter of fact, because it's the most captivating part of the whole episode. It was all the better to realize that the giant Krabby Patty was indeed Squidward, which was a pleasant surprise. Unfortunately, Squidward's reason for saving SpongeBob was not out of the kindness of his heart, but rather due to his disdain for the smell of burnt Krabby Patties.

I will give benefit to the doubt that Krabs at least regretted his decision to fire SpongeBob, but it was not enough to redeem his character here. In fact, Krabs installing a pay toilet contradicted his decision in a really mindless way.

Ok, in spite of my utter disdain for Krabs, the uninspired plot, and the loads of booooring padding, I actually don't find this episode an abomination. Don't get me wrong; I still don't like this episode at all, but it definitely had a few redeeming qualities that saved it from being a complete and total pain to watch. I liked the very beginning with SpongeBob preparing Krabby Patties as per usual; it was indeed adorable and very SpongeBob-esque. The scenes with Patrick's mutated head were all pretty comical as well. Definitely bizarre, but I would rather have something hilariously ridiculous than painfully boring. SpongeBob caring for Gary was genuinely heartwarming; it was a breath of fresh air to see SpongeBob look after his snail after seeing the sponge severely mistreat him in A Pal for Gary. Heck, SpongeBob himself wasn't half bad in this special. Sure, he did cry for a whole minute, and he did show off his workaholic tendencies, but it was delightful to see SpongeBob return to his good-natured self. It was proof that SpongeBob really does mean well, and he is a genuine nice guy most of the time. Also, it was cool to see Squidward save SpongeBob, despite the fact that Squidward stated that he hated the smell of burnt patties.

With all of that being said, this special is still quite boring, unoriginal, and redundant. The plot had very little merit, and the positives are greatly overshadowed by the negatives. I wouldn't recommend this episode to anyone unless they are a dedicated fan of the show. At least it wasn't as bad as The Clash of Triton, but still. In my opinion, this episode is worthy of a 3/10.

CAPTAIN'S LOG UPDATE: Honestly, the redeeming qualities are insignificant compared to the many, many, many flaws that this episode contains. I'm starting to realize that I was too lenient with my rating of this episode in 2020. Yeah. This episode doesn't really have much going for it, besides an oceanful of padding and a profound lack of anything with substance. It's worthy of a 2/10 at best, at this point.

General impressions: From what I've seen, s11 has been hit-or-miss, but most of the episodes are worth a rewatch. Gotta admit, the animation in most of the episodes that I have viewed was incredibly polished, and there was an abundance of creative/hilarious visual gags (especially in episodes like Scavenger Pants, The String, and Doodle Dimension). I think that the experimentation of s11 was quite interesting. Some episodes went for different styles (Creature Feature went for a horror movie style, Squid Noir went for a film noir style, Boo-kini Bottom had a cute, stop-motion style of animation), while other episodes were a little more outlandish (either in a good way, like in Sponge in my Soup and My Leg, or in a not-so good way, like in Pat the Horse). One thing that I would like to note here is that most of the Patrick-based episodes were really weak; I get that he's supposed to be the ditz, since that's one of his character traits that we've had since the show aired, but the Patrick-centric episodes here really cranked up his ineptitude up to eleven. Sometimes, episodes with overly idiotic Patrick can be amusing, but they are predominantly irksome. Sparing the Patrick-centric episodes, this season is a step up from s10, thanks to some more unorthodox storylines, improved animation, and some compelling character dynamics. Of course, this season is also one of the most polarizing, but that is to be expected since some of the more "off the wall" episodes may not be everyone's cup of tea.

  7. Up is a true classic that few movies will ever surpass.

edit: okay, okay, Parasite looks like an intriguing film as well.

  8. There's only a handful of episodes that I declare "irredeemable garbage". (those episodes being Pet or Pests, Summer Job, and Big Sister Sam) Even some of my least favorite SpongeBob episodes have at least one or two parts that I liked or had no problem with.

All That Glitters: SpongeBob being reunited with Spat was a heartwarming little moment.

    Waiting: SpongeBob and Patrick's hunger

Fungus Among Us: decent foreshadowing + the ending got a chuckle out of me

To Love a Patty: The grilled shoe joke + SpongeBob's cutesy face when he took his patty out to dinner

The Splinter: The beginning was alright, even if it was a little too slow-paced for my taste + "P.S: You're an idiot".

Sun Bleached: The radical soda guy.

Choir Boys: The talking toilet paper + the return of the grandma from "Have you Seen This Snail?"

Squid's Visit: Squidward going insane was actually somewhat funny.

Shuffleboarding: "My leg!" + Man-Ray's shrunken head

The Clash of Triton: References to the Goofy Goober

Stuck in the Wringer: SpongeBob telling Patrick off was cathartic.

Someone's in the Kitchen with Sandy: "ooh…try again"

A Pal for Gary: As much as I LOATHE this episode, I actually gave it a 2/10 instead of a 1/10 because the beginning was tolerable + Gary saving SpongeBob was pretty awesome + the design of monster Puffy Fluffy looks cool + heck, I even don't mind the design of normal Puffy Fluffy.

Yours, Mine and Mine: As terrible as the episode is, I actually tolerate it. The 30% cuter gag was kinda funny as well.

Rodeo Daze: "How to open things" was a pretty funny little gag and the rodeo song was tolerable.

One Coarse Meal: The ending got a chortle out of me, plus the "suicide" scene came across as more of a frivolous segment than a serious one.

Trenchbillies: Patrick playing SpongeBob as a banjo.

Hide and Then What Happens?: The appearance of Patrick Not-Star.

Pet Sitter Pat: "'Snail Tales?' I thought it was called 'Meow Meow Meow'."

House Sittin' for Sandy: The ending is slightly entertaining, and seeing SpongeBob in a French maid outfit is...rather alluring.

Smoothe Jazz at Bikini Bottom: Kelpy G's return

Squid Baby: "My face! My face! Also my leg, but mostly my face!"

SpongeBob, You're Fired: The fight scene during the climax

The Fish Bowl: Squidward's obsession with ice cream

Ink Lemonade: The haunted house scene was intriguing.

As far as some other unpopular SB opinions:

    • Jellyfishing was one of season 1's stronger episodes. It's not in my top 5, but it's genuinely hilarious.
    • Ugh was an amazing episode that would easily go in my top 50.
    • Party Pooper Pants and The Sponge who Could Fly are both good episodes.
    • Squid Wood was a decent episode. Just seeing SpongeBob dance with mini Squidward was just adorable, and it's very hard for me to find any overt Squidward torture in it.
    • Breath of Fresh Squidward ain't half bad. Sure, the second half was annoying, but the first half was great. It's so charming to see Squidward genuinely enjoying himself.
    • SpongeHenge was just a middling, albeit intriguing episode. If the episode had better pacing, it would have been a good episode, maybe even a great one. Yeah, the ending was pretty agonizing towards poor SpongeBob, but the rest of the episode was at least somewhat captivating.
    • Gone was another intriguing episode. The ending was pretty bad, but I didn't particularly mind it at all.
    • Cephalopod Lodge, while absolutely stupid and mean-spirited, was actually really hilarious. I couldn't take that episode seriously at all, especially with all of those secret society references.
    • One Coarse Meal's biggest flaw was how drop-dead boring it was, not the infamous suicide scene.
    • The Cent of Money was just a mediocre episode. Seeing SpongeBob confront Mr. Krabs of his wrongdoings was just a breath of fresh air, especially after watching A Pal for Gary.
    • Are You Happy Now was an enjoyable episode and the infamous scenes were pretty funny. SpongeBob was also pretty likeable in this one, which was something that I didn't quite expect. I think that the way they portrayed depression was executed in a genuine way.

  9. Tootsie rolls are kind of icky to me. The texture feels like old gum that's been sitting out in the summer sun, and they don't even taste that chocolate-y. It's the faintest chocolate flavor that I have ever tasted. Feel free to call me stuck-up, but I prefer finer chocolates like Lindt and Godiva. I say that this is a little bit of an unpopular opinion because most people that I am familiar with don't mind the taste and texture of Tootsie rolls.

On the flip side, I think that Whoppers (the malted milk balls) are one of the best products that Hershey's has ever produced. Malted milk balls in general are just divine, but I understand why some people have an aversion to those little morsels.
