I have concluded, after hearing 24 Clash songs in rememberance of the August 11th, 1982 concert a 91X DJ went to in Minniesota as a teenager, on Resurrection Sunday, that they're a mediocre overrated band and I'm drained of them. Straight to Hell is a banger though.
I will get the 2000's alt back on JUST YOU WAIT

New 1975, Killers, Silversun Pickups and Mars Volta are good.
The new Panic! however, is once again, like Middle of a Breakup, a one trick pony and samey sounding to the fantastic Viva Las Vengenece that I'm worried that whole album is going to sound like a generic surf rock and roll album and Brendon Urie let's me down after his solo misadventures killed the Panic project.

For the past hour and a half, I have witnessed something I haven't seen happen in a long time. A radio war.
-
Okay, so here's what happened:
There was not only Red Hot Chili Peppers performing in concert tonight in San Diego, but a Lumineers concert too. 91X played nothing but Red Hot Chili Peppers songs for an hour and a half, and 94.9 played both Red Hot Chili Peppers and Lumineers for an hour.
Here's what was played on both stations, I feel 91X won as much as I miss Lumineers since they're a guilty pleasure band of mine. (Ophelia got played at 2PM today though)
91X: True Men Don't Kill Coyotes, Suck My Kiss, By the Way, Higher Ground, Give It Away, Can't Stop, Knock Me Down, Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Black Summer, Fire, Breaking the Girl, Fight Like a Brave, Aeroplane, Taste the Pain, Soul to Squeeze, Love Rollercoaster
94.9: Red Hot Chili Peppers: Higher Ground, Scar Tissue, Can't Stop, Dani California, Breaking the Girl, Black Summer, Around the World
Lumineers: Cleopatra, Ho Hey, Where We Are, Stubborn Love, Brightside, Just Like Heaven, Angela, Ho Hey (again)
That was fun. I'm so glad I had a feeling tonight to tune into radio since sometimes 91X will play some random song they never play late at night and I felt that was going to happen tonight.

Anyone else confused and annoyed of the gatekeeping of gen z people who know half of the 2000s if they were born in the 99-01 like me but then you got millenials confused and upset some 21 year old tiktoker fashion person is nostalgic for y2k fashion because they had older family wearing it and they rememebred that as a kid? I guess we never existed and were in a coma until 2015. It's an overwhelmingly popular opinion and it's such a lie. The 2000's were mostly culturally and still a bit technologically stagnant. I love the aesthetics for that era and I will not stand being called a poser one day for wanting to make stuff using that aesthetic. I know half of that decade well. Most early zoomers do.

91X program director Garett is calling me about suggestions to shake up the playlist. What I feel would help 91X be less repetitive with old songs is:
1. Instead of a surprise tune to start a set of 6-7 songs every playlist, perhaps add another one in the middle
2. Revive more 2000s-10s tunes
3. Play some recent stuff and not just 1 new song every 2 sets
4. Play more 80s/90s cuts that never get airplay (rarities, top 91s, deep cuts, etc)
5. Find new artists to play that are beloved that havent been played before on the station
Send me suggestions alt listeners ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

91XX is a fucking fantastic event. Blows XYZ out of the water which was already fantastic in itself, and makes up for a rather lousy block party weekend back during memorial day. Reliving a bunch of nostalgic songs I never hear anymore on a format I'm dedicated in right now is so refreshing. Lots of fantastic songs and bizarre returns (Jason Mraz, Staind, Nickelback), here's the playlist. From 12pm-12AM Friday, 6AM-11PM tonight, idk for tomorrow and Monday. 2011 is on right now if anyones interested in following along. Tunegenie stream is shit but has the playlist, 91X site has the good stream. Sucks to see many cities missing out on a decent or good alt station nowadays.

Also want to add they keep adding some songs past #20 throughout some countdowns. Its fantastic
- Lucy's Fur Coat - Treasure Hands
- TV on the Radio - Happy Idiot
- Modest Mouse - The World at Large
- Bjork - Its Oh So Quiet
- Yello - Oh Yeah
- Vampire Weekend - The Kids Don't Stand a Chance (I think they played this one, but this never appeared on a top 91 list but tunegenie says they did, they did have an error not playing Rancid song at #8 called Evil's My Friend, but I don't think they got confused with songs so I'm guessing this was in there as a flashback song)
- Big Bad Voodoo Daddy - You and Me and the Bottle Tonight Makes 3 (Baby)

"We're revisting the songs in our countdown we love, well, most of them, there's a few we're not that crazy about. Looking at you, Puddle of Mudd."

So out of nowhere, my loving cat Jack was feeling very sick, couldn't eat, only drank, didn't use the bathroom really, had black spots on his nose, probably bleeding from his mouth and nose a bit, didn't meow, get up, slept on the ground, looking at us, and I was worried the inevitable was about to happen to another cat of mine at a young age (he may be 11 but I don't care, always wanted my cat to live til 20), and this morning, I didn't get to say goodbye to a loving pet in my family. He was a nice fella, coming in to my room, pawing at me, he acted like a dog sometimes, just kissing your hand and biting it. He was super nice. Never really growled or hissed. Never got angry really. And now. I never get to see him ever again. And I'm depressed about it. Love and cherish your pets. You'll never know when the awful day comes, especially if they were acting normal just a few days ago. I'll miss you, Jack. Hopefully there's an afterlife and you're reunited with your loving brother Elliott who passed in 2013, as well as your friend Ralphy and Tomas.
Took this a few weeks ago too. I'm so sad...

God, idk why, but seeing MGK's My Ex's Best Friend be counted as "Rock" infuirates me. outside of the chorus it's trap rap, and not even good trap rap. IDLES is rock. They exist. Let's not reward MGK plz, 2010's had guitars too.

I mean, "my ex's best friend" is considerably a 'rock-leaning' song with blink-182's Travis Barker heading the production, which is pretty much why it got airplay action on alternative stations. I also shouldn't go without giving the solemn reminder that alternative music is not exclusive to the rock genre.
There's more I can say about the state of the alt airplay chart from the eyes of the guy who watches said chart, but I'll start with that.

been wanting to ask you, thoughts on the latest chili peppers record? Personally singles wise I prefer the getaway stuff way more
