Is it bad to admit that I've already finished my Christmas list?
-
-
-
@Wumbo Yeah, I'm really glad I am. It's more so that I know exactly what I want this year. But my grandma is going to start annoying my mom any second about where my Christmas list is, so I'm glad I have that out of the way. It's honestly fun most of the time to make a list.

*looks both ways, nervously*
I think Riverdale is one of the downright stupidest ideas for a television show ever. If you like it I ain't gonna try to stop you though
-
I was at work the other day and overhead a woman trying to sell her friend on the show by saying "it's, like, y'know, it's Archie and the gang trying to solve a murder".
So... you really can't take this show seriously. It's going to limit your enjoyment (if you've even seen any of it). Everyone I know that watches it (my girlfriend and I are included in this) only watches it (and gets enjoyment out of it) because of how absurdly stupid it is, not because it's some tightly written witty Sorkin-esque drama.
-
@terminoob Yeah, man I get the appeal of watching it for the absurdity. Most of the people I know take it actually seriously, and just, my god, I can't understand how anyone would. Turning Archie into an edgy teen drama is like turning the Flintstones into a BoJack Horseman type dramedy.
-
Well, bad example, because DC actually did that with The Flintstones and it became a 12 issue comic that ended up being a critical hit - so much so that the guy who wrote it is now gonna be doing a Snagglepuss comic where he's a gay southern gothic playwright. Just because an idea or plot sounds ridiculous or stupid doesn't mean the execution of it is. Archie as an edgy teen drama makes sense for the modern era of media - doing a straight-up adaptation of 50s Archie wouldn't work because that's not what viewers want. The creator of Riverdale is the Chief Creative Officer of Archie comics and writes Afterlife with Archie (horror Archie series? Incredibly stupid, but somehow amazing), so the dude gets what the core of Archie is about and how to translate that. Archie has always been overly saccharine and cheesy; Riverdale goes along the same line of thinking, just in a noir-thriller genre rather than slice-of-life.
I don't think Riverdale was meant to be taken seriously in the first place, because Archie isn't exactly a comic you could take that seriously, so your friends might just be a tad too invested. I can't imagine how someone could take Jughead or "Dark Betty" or Cheryl or the implied incest seriously.
Edit: BoJack Horseman is also an odd example to go with, because if you tell someone the plot of that show they're gonna think you're fucking with them. A dark dramedy show about an anthropomorphic horse actor going through a midlife crisis and the decisions that he's making and how they affect his relationships. That's an insane premise. I remember all the articles on TV.com before it premiered that were talking about how stupid it looked and how terrible the trailers were and how Will Arnett and Aaron Paul are wasting their time. But the execution of it was dynamite and here we are.

Is it just me or does Halloween just completely stop being fun once you outgrow trick or treating?

What I should be doing: reading the chapters of The Great Gatsby for AP Lang I haven't read, and studying for a math test that will make or break my grade tomorrow
What I am doing: Listening to the Danny Phantom theme on repeat

Today, 10 years ago in Japan an anime named Shugo Chara premiered. The show is probably my favorite cartoon of all time, and it helped me become a better person by helping me realize that I am me, that I enjoy having a positive outlook on life more than a negative one, and just overall changed my life for the better and was always there for me when I was feeling down. I can't say who I'd be without it.
-
Debating a Danny Phantom cosplay for a convention in May. I just got really into the series, and it'd be an easy costume considering I already have the wig and I just need the costume.

My mom made these pumpkin snickerdoodles, and my god they're so good. Man why are cookies so good in general
-
Only curious, does anyone actually believe that fish sticks are better than chicken nuggets? Like if you have that opinion you aren't wrong or anything but I've literally never seen anyone prefer fish sticks over chicken nuggets
-
I start 11th grade tomorrow. Yikes.
-
11th grade starts Monday. Can't believe I'm already more than halfway through high school.
-
This is my last week of summer :/. I start 11th grade next Monday. Cautiously excited.
-
I just got some frozen onion rings from the grocery store and I'm more excited than I should be to make them at 1 am

1 year ago tomorrow was when I started watching what is now very well my favorite cartoon and show ever, Shugo Chara. Through watching this amazing series, I became invested in all of it's characters, became inspired to better myself, fully express myself, and overall bettered me as a person and made me a happier person and I have zero idea of what I would be without it. I await this amazing anime's 10th anniversary in October.

Is it wrong to admit I like Mexican Fender (the new Weezer song)

Really worried right now. Schedules are out (well not officially but something in one of our websites for schools shows the list of our teachers and classes) and I didn't get placed in study hall and I literally have an accomodation in my 504 that says I need Study Hall to be successful in school (and I do), and my school is brutal when it comes to switching classes. It does say one of the exceptions is if a student has a specific accomodation, but I'm worried they won't buy it or my schedule will have to be moved around, and I like my schedule right now. :/

Caved in and watched the first episode of Miraculous Ladybug last night and it's similarities to Shugo Chara are pretty striking. At first I really thought it was nothing to write home about but some fiber of me is itching to watch Episode 2. I really want to like it though.

@Doug Dimmadome I don't want to copy RebelTaxi's opinion too much, but one of the biggest reasons I'm really starting to get into the show is it's just such a breath of fresh air because cartoons nowadays are like 90% comedies. Not that there's anything wrong with comedies, it's just it's nice to have variety. And yeah I get a lot of enjoyment from the show reminding me of my favorite anime, and my favorite cartoon of all time tied with Futurama.

@This is a username. Enjoy it. What does he do? He doesn't do anything else lmao. Like have his eyes gone blind? Does he get hungry? Does he get lonely? Does he have any other hobbies? Man idk

Tonight, my heart goes out to the victims of the horrors in Charlottesville. Hate, neo-nazism, and racism do not embody who we are.

My sister moved out today for college, about an hour away. So, yeah... It's gonna be mostly, from now on, me, my dad, and my mom. Today's the first day of well, my new life..... She'll be back for holidays and stuff though.

Man I forgot how much I love The Misfits. It's like a walking capsule of Halloween to me, whenever I listen to them I just get right in the Halloween spirit. They're honestly just such a fun band.
