I haven't seen Black Clover yet, but I don't think the shonen formula in it is a problem. Most mainstream shonen animes have a hero and his companions along with a main rival and a story about an adventure. Black Clover is no exception to this.

No, but a lot of them do. Besides, SAO's story isn't about forming a harem. Its more about exploring virtual reality worlds and solving some problems in them.

Because the story changed after episode 14 of the first season. People wanted Kirito to finish SAO in the proper way, but the story felt a bit rushed to some. I guess they don't also like the fact that the show had girls all over Kirito, even though that's something very common in modern anime. I don't think SAO is terrible, but it has certainly been overhyped and now it has video games and lots of media available. Perhaps if the series went back to its roots it wouldn't be as criticized.

Yeah I think I remember now. I just said coins because I don't remember that well.
I guess the fact that it doesn't have respawn. Though I kinda understand why it doesn't have that. Its a battle royale after all.

Somewhat. I remember it was an open world platformer similar to Mario 64 and you had to collect some coins and do some mini-games to progress through the game.

FMA is definitely up there in my ranks. Brotherhood was more in line with the manga but I still liked the original because of all the great moments it had. The story had a combination of serious and funny moments which I liked a lot. Plus the character designs were pretty good, I thought Edward Elric was a great character along with Alphonse.
