Status Updates posted by Steel Sponge

  1. While my top/bottom 10 countdown for the Alternative Songs chart for 2019 will be on hold till after I finish my my top 10 hit songs for 2019 and as well as my decade-end music lists. In the meantime, I'm going to unveil my top/bottom 10 for every other year of the 2010s for the chart that I didn't cover, from 2010-2017. The same rules from my alternative charts countdowns apply to these lists where every song that charted during the respective tracking period and repeats count towards my rankings.

    My bottom 10 for 2010:

    10. "Issues" - Escape the Fate
    9. "Oildale (Leave Me Alone)" - Korn
    8. "Dignity" - New Politics
    7. "Yeah Yeah Yeah" - New Politics
    6. "Cryin' Like a Bitch!" - Godsmack
    5. "Skinny Little Bitch" - Hole
    4. "Blood on My Hands" - The Used
    3. "Lights Out" - Breaking Benjamin
    2. "Porn Star Dancing" - My Darkest Days featuring Zakk Wylde
    1. "Spaceship" - Puddle of Mudd

    My top 10 for 2010:

    10. "1901" - Phoenix
    9. "Undisclosed Desires" - Muse
    8. "Ignorance" - Paramore
    7. "Fuck You" - Cee Lo Green
    6. "Giving Up the Gun" - Vampire Weekend
    5. "My Best Theory" - Jimmy Eat World
    4. "Use Somebody" - Kings of Leon
    3. "Stylo" - Gorillaz featuring Mos Def and Bobby Womack
    2. "Savior" - Rise Against
    1. "Uprising" - Muse

Will publish these lists once a week until I've gotten up to 2017. While I can't do commentary for every single one of the songs, I will accept any feedback or questions regarding my choices.

  2. yes, it is i, the best christmas special

  3. 2019: A year where most of the blink-182 alumni would release several projects inside and outside of the band's name, and yet the best thing to come from anyone associated with blink this year to me is from former member Tom DeLonge:

    1. Wumbo

      Wumbo

"blink-182 alumni" is a phrase I certainly thought I would never hear

    2. Wumbo

      Wumbo

the song's alright but the birth of an incel video leaves me a bit cold in 20 freakin 19

-I wasn't sure how else I could try to word that properly.
-But I feel stupid now for not paying as much attention to that MV earlier, because whether or not it's satire, that is definitely uncomfortable incel fantasy garbage, omf.

  4. Before my next avatar-related takeover starts during this year's Snowcember Ball, I'd like to know what some of you guys think is the best Christmas special (besides "Christmas Who?")

  5. In this installment of Steel makes you feel very old, the cartoon character, Felix the Cat, just recently became 100 years old.

    1. Inanimate Carbon Rod

      Inanimate Carbon Rod

Happy centennial, you wonderful, wonderful cat!

  6. I'm planning on another avatar-related takeover this month, but for the time being, I'm returning to an old favorite.

  7. ah yes, just what the pop charts needed...

    a ub40 throwback

    1. 4EverGreen

      4EverGreen

A UB40 throwback is STILL better than anything Justin Bieber has ever SUNG, IS singing, or will EVER sing in his ENTIRE lifetime!  Enough said!

    2. Katniss

      Katniss

nah i'd rather listen to bieber than a dorky lame white reggae cover band

    3. Steel Sponge

      Steel Sponge

I was going to make the same joke until Kat beat me to the punch. I'll just simply say that I'll take Bieber over what sounds to me like an uptempo, white boy reggae cover of a scrapped Disney villain song (the song in question being in my status).

  8. tony hawk it later homie

  9. Solemn reminder to all that the 1994 animated film The Swan Princess has spawned eight direct-to-video sequels. That's one more film than the also apparent Alpha & Omega film series while the SP film series is still going as we speak.

  10. Say, whatever happened to Close Enough?

    1. Old Man Jenkins
    2. CyanideFishbone

      CyanideFishbone

Lmao I was actually thinking about this just last night

It's probably going through development hell. Didn't Olan Rogers say something about that?

  11. i'm 'bout to book a show at the dimmsdale dimmadome

    1. That Excited SpongeKid
    2. Steel Sponge

      Steel Sponge

Yes you may, if you spin around three times and say "I love my wife."

    3. That Excited SpongeKid
  12. i want to be a mod

  13. Honesty time: that best of animation 2018 list is very much not going to be completed before 2019 list season comes around, nor before 2020, so I will only be able to post the imminent list in my general reviewing thread. This time, it's not because I can't afford to see whatever it is I still need to see, but it's because I want to keep my focus towards continuing and finishing my spin-off writing career quicker and balancing it with my intent to get the 2018 animation review out sooner before this year's list season is a little too much of a workload for me.

Also, by the time 2019 list season does come, I will be spending time writing music reviews that will extend to a couple decade-end lists.

  14. Image result for chris brown bunch losers

can someone please tell me why chris brown is still relevant even after he says disgusting things like this (after CHVRCHES expressed their disgust in Marshmello collaborating with him)? this only piles up on brown's long laundry list of wrongdoings but still.

    1. Katniss

      Katniss

because his fans don't care that he's an abominable twat because he "makes good music" and he's "supposedly" grown and changed (lol) since the Rihanna incident

    2. Rebel the Wolfgirl

      Rebel the Wolfgirl

      @Katniss i've never liked/cared about him anyway

    3. Cha

      Cha

wished they walked in front of speeding bus full of mental patients

      goodday peasants

  15. Advertising this right now since I've just made an update for it.

And because clubs in general aren't so active and because I'm going to be posting something new in that topic sporadically, I strongly suggest following said topic for those who really want to see more from it.

  16. Week 70! Give it up for week 70 that "broken" by lovelytheband has been on the alternative chart!

Image result for mr. krabs bell

  17. I would put 800+ thousand people in doors.

  18. hi, I'm the guy in the sweater who asks all of the obvious questions.

  19. To give you all a briefing on my planned entertainment lists, I will be publishing my next two music countdown lists in January of next year and I will publish my long overdue animation list before the end of this year (reminder: the latter will be on my blog).

If anything I could say about this one particular year in animation that I've held over, it was so great that I had to make quite a few yet very painful cuts. So trust me when I say that you'll enjoy this next list once it arrives.

  20. cousin mel's attorney i.m. slime.

    you said, it not me.

  21. New avatar/display name for the season. This time around, Cousin Mel's going to be spending Christmas with the superstars.

    1. WhoBibbles

      WhoBibbles

Hi Noggy. I'm gonna send you to Februrary 33rd, which doesn't exist.

  22. daily reminder to all that Alpha and Omega had spawned seven sequels.

    1. So Sejima

      So Sejima

I thought there were only 3 of those movies....

    2. 4EverGreen

      4EverGreen

Congratulations, "Alpha and Omega", you are now OFFICIALLY the NEW "The Land Before Time" animated franchise, in the fact that you have spawned WAY too many direct to D.V.D. Movie releases! :hysterical: Although I've only seen the first two, so I'm not REALLY sure if I should be criticizing the franchise or not!

  23. used to hang my head low, now i hear it loud, every stranger from twitter is gonna burn this down
