SBC's yearly gaming event returns to kick off the spring season. This edition will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the game Creature from the Krusty Krab. Arcade Anarchy V will start March 7th and end March 28th. During the event, play through crazy dreams to collect Sleepy Seeds scattered around the community, which you win from games and can spend at the Hypnotic prize store. Whoever has the most seeds gathered by the end of the event will be crowned SBC's Ultimate Gamer and receive several grand rewards. Here's what games and activities will be held throughout the month:

• Stop What You Are Doing - Video Game Edition: For our 61st SWYAD, become your favorite video game characters. Whoever participates in the SWYAD automatically gets free 20 seeds to start their count with. You can reserve in this thread or on Discord if you haven't already.
• Supersized Patty Attack!: Working similarly to Hooky from Octerror Fest, a user will be transformed into the devious Supersized Patty from the game and sabotage other users. One user will be assigned the role of Supersized Patty and it will be their job to kill everyone participating. Whoever comes in first each game will be safe from elimination for that night and has a chance to take out the patty. Note that there will be no killings on nights without games. You will also lose seeds on the scoreboard if slain. Can the Supersized Patty's wrath be stopped?
• Pictionary: Four Pictionary games will be held for the event each Saturday to conclude Season 11. The themes will be: Mario Kart, Donkey Kong, SpongeBob Flash Games and Pokemon.
• SpongeCraft Forge: Two SpongeCraft Forge games will be held on March 14th and 28th, the first of which will be a crazy race.
• Discord Activities: Discord Activities will be held on March 7th and 21st during the event.
• Jackbox: Jackbox will be held every Monday on Discord during the event, with the games being: Bracketeering, Poll Mine and Roomerang.
• Sleepy Surprise Games: A non-core surprise game will be held every Tuesday during the event.
• Kahoot: Kahoots will be held every Wednesday during the event. Two of the themes will be Creature from the Krusty Krab and Game Levels.
• Flash Games: A flash game will be held every Thursday during the event.
• Cards Against Humanity: A CAH game will be held every Friday during the event.
• QueUp Parties: A music party will be held every Friday during the event after CAH. Play a secret video game song to win seeds.
• Pitch a Game Contest: Get your creative juices flowing and pitch a game idea!
• Forum Minigames: Play minigames to win seeds, doubloons and experience. Two of the minigames will be Diesel Racing and Plankton's Revenge.

Another world... another time... This land was green and good.

Until the Forge cracked.

Since it launched in July 2023, SpongeCraft Frontiers has been SBC's most expansive gaming offering, and seen several major updates in that time. The most consequential of them was the addition of Spongecraftia, the world of SpongeCraft Classic, which has captured players' imaginations all over again in its new life. Since then, SCF has drifted farther from its original vanilla survival vision, and back towards SpongeCraft's roots as a massive creative sandbox. It's time that we embraced this shift once and for all, and sunset the era of Frontiers by introducing a brand new experience to SBC's great Minecraft continent.

Over the last week, some of you on Discord may have noticed us server ops performing maintenance work on SCF. I'm excited to finally be able to bring to all of you the results of our labor: SpongeCraft Forge!

For those of you that are unfamiliar, Forge is a long-standing Minecraft API and mod loader, and a way for the community to introduce many varieties of addons to the game. SpongeCraft Forge is the new name for both the revamped server and the new custom modded client you'll need in order to play it, featuring more than 300 addons' worth of Minecraft quality-of-life improvements and new content. Some of the highlights:

*Distant Horizons is a long-range draw distance mod that may cause significant performance issues. If you face major lag in-game, I suggest this as the first mod to turn down or disable outright.

Unfortunately, in this conversion, we have to say goodbye to Frontiers's world of Overlandia. This was not by choice, and is the result of the inherent incompatibility between Forge and our previous server software, Bukkit. Our previous multi-world system was powered by the Bukkit plugin Multiverse, which has no viable alternative for Forge servers, and our efforts to try and retain Multiverse using a hybrid server software (Arclight) created many more problems than it solved. Therefore, since Spongecraftia remains the more popular between the two, we made the decision to discontinue Overlandia as an active map on the server. It will be archived elsewhere for download very soon.

DOWNLOAD & SETUP

SPONGECRAFT FORGE CLIENT | FREESM LAUNCHER

Once you've downloaded both:

1. Install Freesm Launcher. When the setup prompts you to add an account, you have two options: add a Microsoft account (if you've bought the game), or an "offline" one (if you haven't).
2. In the top left corner, click "Add Instance".
3. Go to "Import", click "Browse", and select the SpongeCraft Forge client's zip file.
4. Click OK and let the importer handle the rest.
5. Launch the game from the newly-added icon within the launcher.
6. As usual, when the game has launched, navigate to the Multiplayer tab, and the server will already be bookmarked.
7. ?????
8. PROFIT!

If you were in Overlandia when you last signed off from the server, it may place you in a random spot when you log in. Use the classic directory command (/warp directory) to return to the GSC.

Be warned that some of you may experience severe lag here compared to Frontiers. This is an unavoidable effect of extensive Forge modding, despite our inclusion of optimizations, and can only be mitigated by lowering settings in both Minecraft itself and across mods. As stated above, I would recommend tweaking Distant Horizons first.

Grab your popcorn and get the best seats in the house for a cinematic experience!  We're bringing back the fan favorite Flicks February event (first held in 2019) for a sequel! Since SpongeBob had a new movie recently, the timing is fitting. Flicks February II will begin February 13th and conclude February 28th. Here's a list of games and activities:

• Stop What You Are Doing - Movie Edition: For the 60th SWYAD, reserve the name of either a movie, director, actor or movie character to roleplay as.
• Movie Streams: As voted by the community last month, the following five movies will be screened on Discord during the event: The Simpsons Movie (February 14th - 8pm ET), K-Pop Demon Hunters (February 20th - 7pm ET), The Naked Gun 2025 (February 21st - 8pm ET), Office Space (February 27th - 7pm ET) and Pulp Fiction (February 28th - 8pm ET).
• Cards Against Humanity: One CAH game will be held on February 13th.
• QueUp Party: One QueUp Party will be held on February 13th. Play your favorite movie soundtracks and win raffle prizes.
• SpongeBob Pictionary: Three Pictionary games will be held on February 14th, 21st and 28th. The games will be SpongeBob Movies, Movies and Directors/Actors respectively.
• SpongeCraft Forge - The Lost Tapes: A SpongeCraft game will be held on February 19th where you will hunt for movie tapes. This will mark the first game using the Forge client.
• Jackbox: Two Jackbox games will be held February 16th and 23rd, which will be Dictionarium and Role Models.
• Kahoots: Two Kahoots will be held on February 18th and 25th. They will be SpongeBob Movies and Movies themed respectively.
• What The Dub (New!): A party game where you write funny dubs over movie scenes, making its first event usage on February 17th.
• Discord Activity - BlockBuster: One Discord Activity will be held on February 24th.
• Forum Minigames: There will be two forum minigames to grind for doubloons and experience points in: Movie Makers and Popcorn Eaters.

As 2025 nears its end, SBC closes out the year with our winter holiday celebration. 

From December 12th to December 30th, Snowcember Ball 2025 will spread holiday cheer across the community. The Snowball Contest will return, where each game and activity will reward you with snowballs. Whoever has the most snowballs by the end of the event will receive joyous gifts, but whoever comes in 2nd and 3rd overall will also receive prizes. Here’s a list of what activities to expect:

• Stop What You Are Doing - Holiday Edition: SWYAD returns for the 59th edition. Decorate your username with a holiday or cold theme. Reserve a name in this thread or via Discord if you haven't already. Whoever participates automatically gets 10 snowballs.
• Cards Against Humanity: Cards Against Humanity will be every Friday night during the event at 7pm EST.
• QueUp Parties: Play your favorite holiday songs every Friday night at 8pm EST, and earn snowballs by guessing the secret song.
• SpongeBob Pictionary: Two games will be a part of the event on December 13th and 20th. The first game will be about anything cold, so hope you can brace the weather!
• Discord Activities: Two Discord Activities will be held on December 20th and 27th.
• SpongeCraft Frontiers: A snow sculpture building contest will be held in SpongeCraft Frontiers on December 13th. A special holiday decoration pack will also be added.

Be weary of the Dutchman...it's that time of year again!

Octerror Fest 2025, our oldest event, will last from October 13th to October 31st. This will be the 15th edition and we have a lot planned to celebrate. The Candy Contest will return, where each game and activity during the event rewards you pieces of candy. Whoever has the most pieces of candy gathered by the end of the month will be crowned the Candy Champion of Halloween and receive spooktacular prizes! Ghost Powers will return from last year, which allow you to use three unique powers to give you an advantage in certain games and steal candy. Here’s a guide to the main activities to expect:

• Stop What You Are Doing - Halloween Edition: For the 58th SWYAD, dress up for any Halloween theme you wish. Reserve a name in this thread or via Discord if you haven't already. Anyone who signs up automatically gets 10 pieces of candy on the scoreboard.
• Hooky 6: 10 Years Later: Hooky, our classic murder mystery game, will be making a special return to celebrate its 10th anniversary. The Flying Dutchman could not let the series die and like Hollywood, is giving it a ghostly resurrection. Beware of the Ghost Fisherman. Unlike the past editions where it was contained in a roleplaying thread, this will work differently in that it spans the whole event and every regular game will be a part of it. One user will be assigned Ghost Fisherman and it will be their job to kill everyone participating. Whoever comes in first each game will be safe from death for that night and has a chance to take out the ghost. Note that there will be no killings on nights without games. You will also lose candy on the scoreboard if slain. Can the Ghost Fisherman's wrath be stopped? If you'd like to be a part of Hooky, sign up because it will immediately start the day the event begins.
• Cards Against Humanity: A spooky card game will occur every Friday night at 7pm EST!
• QueUp Parties: Jam out to your favorite Halloween songs every Friday night at 8pm EST, and play the secret song to win candy!
• SpongeBob Pictionary: Pictionary will have spooky games every Saturday night at 7pm EST! One theme will be about candy.
• SpongeCraft Frontiers: A SpongeCraft Frontiers event will be held October 18th at 8pm EST, which will be a Haloween building contest!
• Discord Activity: A Discord Activity will be held on October 25th at 8pm EST!
• Jackbox: On Monday nights at 7pm EST, play in terrifying Jackbox games on Discord!
• Halloween Trivia Contest: Returning yet again, in this six part contest, you'll compete against other users on Kahoot to see who knows the most about Halloween! Whoever has the most points by the end will be the Halloween nerd. The games will occur on Wednesday nights. One of the themes will be Creepypastas.
• Flash Archive Tournaments: Play in haunted SpongeBob games using JCM's archive every Thursday night at 7pm EST!
• Other Activities: Hunt for tombstones in the scavenger hunt and replacing the Scary Story Contest is the Candy Creator Contest, where you can invent your own candy!
• Octerror Minigames: Past Octerror minigames return, and there will be a new one known as Graveyard Maze!

Both the forums and Discord will receive awesomely terrifying Halloween makeovers. The default skin will be Titans of the Tide themed, promoting the newest SpongeBob game releasing next month! We hope people enjoy this Octerror Fest and that this is one of our best ever!

For the first time ever, we're having an event in September...sort of! Plankton, Karen and Sandy have teamed up to host a mini science fair event known as Scientific September, which will last from September 12th to September 20th. You could also consider this a back to school event, but don't worry, it'll be fun! Here's what activities will occur during this mini event:

• Cards Against Humanity: One CAH game will be held September 12th.
• Music Party: One QueUp party will be held September 12th.
• SpongeBob Pictionary: Two Pictionary games will be held on September 13th and 20th, with the themes of SpongeBob Science episodes and Chemistry respectively.
• SpongeCraft Frontiers: A SpongeCraft building contest will be held September 13th.
• Jackbox: The game Role Models will occur September 15th, fitting for this event.
• Kahoot: Master your knowledge of the periodic table on September 17th.
• The Science Display: September 19th live on Discord, pitch a unique science experience on the fly which will be judged by Plankton, Karen and Sandy!
• Forum Minigame - Chemical Mixer: Mix dangerous chemicals with hopefully less than disastrous results.

Nothing too big or crazy here. We also have the budget for a special Bill Nye cameo. Yay!

It’s that time of the year again: Today marks SBC's 16th birthday!  It’s all about you on SBC’s 16th birthday! It's a testament to how long we've kept chugging on despite the odds. A special thanks to everyone who continues to stay loyal to the community in some way. Now go and enjoy the SBC-129 festivities!

It will begin August 15th, on SBC's 16th birthday, and conclude August 31st. This will be our second space themed event in the site's history after Futuristic February 2018. During the event, you can receive mysterious Jellien Keys by winning games. What do they do? It's a mystery, but if you obtain three, I hear you will unlock something very special...oooohh. • Kahoots: Two Kahoots will be held August 20th and 27th. One of them will be planets themed.
• Flash Archive Games: Two flash archive games will be held August 21st and 28th.
• Discord Activities: Two Discord Activities will be held August 26th and 30th.
• Forum Minigames: There will be two forum minigames to grind for doubloons, experience and Jellien Keys in: Astroid Blast and UFO Race.

QueUp
We have moved on from deepcut.fm (formerly known as turntable.fm). We were happy to use it early on, and we were really happy to see it come back, but it’s time for a change. In its wake rises a new music sharing platform for SBC Music: QueUp! It contains the following features: improved mobile support, the ability to add your own avatars, and a messaging system! Eagle-eyed users may recall when we used this under its former name of Dubtrack in 2018/2019. A party will be held on Saturday, July 19 at 8 p.m. ET to celebrate V16!

A brand new widget to showcase people’s achievement progress will be displayed on our front page. Work towards greatness!

New Badge
Speaking of Achievements, we’ve added a 15 Year Anniversary badge to anyone lucky enough to have that milestone! It will also give you 1,500 experience points. Credit to @Zaid for the design. The other anniversary badges have also received slightly updated designs.

Our Guidelines and Discord Rules have both been reorganized and updated. Be sure to read them both over.

Updates to SpongeCraft Frontiers
We’ve got some great updates to SpongeCraft Frontiers.

The server has upgraded its version from 1.14.4 allllllll the way to 1.18.2! New materials, new mechanics, and more, including: an extended y-axis (a deeper underground and taller mountains!), new biomes, new mobs, and security updates! For more information on what exactly you’ve been missing, head to the Minecraft Wiki, starting with 1.15, and browse away!

Additionally: Dynmap is now enabled on SpongeCraft Frontiers, available here or on our forums homepage under “F.U.N.” on the header. Just like SpongeCraft Classic, view a beautiful live map of the server and see where people are!

We've also updated our plugin that allows for images to be placed on the server. It's even better than the last one!

Wiki Updates
Last month, our wiki was updated to MediaWiki version 1.43.1. This includes: improved visual editor, better mobile support, shortened URLs (be sure to bookmark these if you have the old links saved), and other quality of life improvements.

Achievement Rank Changes
Several of our achievement ranks have altered their point requirements:

• Jolly Good Rookie now requires 50 points to reach.
• Apprentice now requires 100 points to reach.
• Explorer now requires 180 points to reach.
• Community Regular now requires 1,400 points to reach.
• Rising Star now requires 2,000 points to reach.

Skin Changes
V14 Jellyfish, V14 Jellyfish Dark, and Steppin on the Beach are now Loyal Customer exclusive skins. The Owl House Community is now a buyable skin (as established earlier). If you use King Neptune for a Day, you will be able to automatically access Neptune’s Castle as a bonus gift!

In this game of survival, players will take a nearly 500-foot leap of faith directly into the world of the Frontierlands, a diverse, rich land of unusual formations and proportions. After making their way out of the Landing, it will be up to players and their skills to survive, thrive, and improvise in this uncharted world of pillars, mountains, and plains.



Just as with classic SpongeCraft before it, Frontiers will be operating for the foreseeable future using the 1.12.2 1.14.4 version of Minecraft, with ViaVersion allowing it to be backwards-compatible with newer clients. Also keeping with tradition, this is an offline server, meaning that players without Minecraft accounts will be able to join in on the adventure as well!

We will officially hold the grand opening to the Frontiers tomorrow, July 4th, at 8:00 PM Eastern time. We hope you will be there to begin a new journey into the unknown!

• Patty Collecting: One new feature to this year's is that games and minigames will award you pretty patties; you will even randomly free ones on the forum or discord. If you collect 6 throughout the event, you'll win a special rainbow badge!
• Jackbox: The last two games of Jackbox Season 1 will be held June 2nd and 9th.
• Kahoots: Test your knowledge in colors and pride on June 4th and 11th.
• Flash Archive Tournaments: Flash game tournaments will be held June 5th and 12th.

• Stop What You Are Doing - Video Game Edition: For our 55th SWYAD, become your favorite video game characters. Whoever participates in the SWYAD automatically gets free 20 bubbles to start their count with. You can reserve in this thread or on Discord if you haven't already.

I owe a special thanks to everyone’s who helped keep the community afloat over these 15 years. Even if you don’t visit the community often anymore, your contributions are still greatly appreciated and your presence will never be forgotten. SBC will always be around in some form and that’s the beauty of it. I said during our 10th anniversary there’s something almost magical about this community and that remains true. The Jackbox games you all know and love will be used. How this will work is that each week, three rounds of one certain game will be played. Whoever has the total overall scores across the three rounds will be the winner for the night. The winner will receive 2,000 doubloons, 300 experience points and the Jackbox Champion badge.

SBC Jackbox will officially start on Monday, January 20th at 7pm EST. You can never get enough jack! Dman never expected Jackbox to get so big on here when he first suggested it to us back in 2020, and we're proud of how far it's come. From December 13th to December 29th, Snowcember Ball 2024 will spread holiday cheer across the community. The Snowball Contest will return, where each game and activity will reward you with snowballs. Whoever has the most snowballs by the end of the event will receive joyous gifts, but whoever comes in 2nd and 3rd overall will also receive prizes. If you come in last during a game or lose a minigame you can lose your snowballs, so watch out. Here’s a list of what activities to expect:

• Stop What You Are Doing - Holiday Edition: SWYAD returns for the 53rd edition. Decorate your username with a holiday or cold theme. Reserve a name in this thread or via Discord if you haven't already. Whoever participates automatically gets 10 snowballs.
• Cards Against Humanity: Cards Against Humanity will be every Friday night during the event at 7pm EST.
• SBC Music Parties: Play your favorite holiday songs every Friday night at 8pm EST, and earn snowballs by guessing the secret song.

Octerror Fest 2024, our oldest event, will last from October 11th to October 31st. The Candy Contest will return, where each game and activity during the event rewards you pieces of candy. Whoever has the most pieces of candy gathered by the end of the month will be crowned the Candy Champion of Halloween and receive spooktacular prizes! However, there’s a mischievous twist to this year’s competition: Ghost Powers! During the event, you will be able to use three unique powers that can give you an advantage in certain games and steal candy. Here’s a guide to the main activities to expect:

• Stop What You Are Doing - Halloween Edition: For the 52nd SWYAD, get into costume for any Halloween theme you wish. Reserve a name in this thread or via Discord if you haven't already. Anyone who signs up automatically gets 10 pieces of candy on the scoreboard.

Yep, SBC's 15th anniversary is upon us next week, as hard as that is to believe. For this year's milestone celebration, we're doing something different compared to the last two. A few months ago, we asked the community what old event they'd like to see come back for our 15th anniversary. The winning choice was music (Fab Beats February 2017), and with how important music has been to various SBC members over the years, there was no better choice to represent our 15th anniversary. Celebrate your favorite music and party in Anthemic Anniversary, from August 15th to 31st. Here’s what games and activities will occur during this grand event:

• Stop What You Are Doing - Musician Edition: If you want to be named a musician or band during the event, then sign up here or on Discord.
• Discord Party: The event will kick off with a Discord party on August 15th, which will contain a Discord Activity, raffle and more!

Celebrating both the Olympics and SpongeBob's 25th anniversary, The Super SpongeBash Games begins July 12th and ends July 31st. For the first time SBC history, we’re fusing two returning events together: The Super Spongy Square Games, our Olympics event, and SpongeBash, our 2019 SpongeBob anniversary event. Each game during the event will award gold, silver and bronze medals to whoever comes in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place respectively. By the end of the month, whoever has the most gold, silver, medal and total medals will receive individual prizes, with gold getting the fanciest rewards. Here’s a list of games that will occur:

• Cards Against Humanity: CAH will be held every Friday night.
• Turntable Parties: Turntable parties will be held every Friday night and will reward medals through a unique method: by playing a secret song.
• SpongeBob Pictionary: Pictionary games will be held every Saturday night and each is SpongeBob themed.
• SpongeCraft Frontiers:  A parkour course will be held on July 13th, with the course designed by Meko.
• Discord Activities: Discord Activities will be held July 20th and 27th.
• Jackbox: There will be double Jackboot games every Monday night.
• Spongy Surprises: A non-core game will be held every Tuesday night.
• Kahoots: Kahoots will be held every Wednesday night, each focused on an era of SpongeBob.

• Episode Screenings: A screening of five SpongeBob episodes (Have You Seen This Snail, Wet Painters, Can You Spare a Dime, Chocolate With Nuts and Dying for Pie) will be held on Discord on July 17th after Kahoot. These are the top 5 episodes from this year's best episode list.
• Minigame - Anchor Toss: In this minigame, whoever has the most yards by the end of the event will receive a gold medal.

It's not tainted meat, it's painted meat!  June is Pride Month, so to celebrate SBC's diverse LGBT userbase over the years, we'll be holding our own mini pride event! The event will run from June 1st to June 15th. Here's what games will occur during this event:

• SpongeBob Pictionary: The Pictionary Season 8 finale will be held June 1st to kick off the event, with an appropriate theme of Colors! (but not easy ones)

• Pride Kahoot: Test your LGBT knowledge in this Kahoot game on June 5th.
