About This Club

We talk about every sorts of things on animation. Including anime, cartoons, and animated movies.

  1. What's new in this club
  2. Just to let you know, this club belongs to me now as of late. Been clean it up recently, so I figured to announce it here. That's all for now
  3. Haven't seen the recent anime, but I've read most of the manga.
  4. we can't have a one piece discussion without this golden treasure:
  5. One of the good anime and manga series out there. Who here follows it? I'm fully up to date on the manga! Lol lets discuss.
  6. Discuss Berserk, the dark violent fantasy manga and anime, here.
  7. Most of the episodes from Season 2 were pretty hilarious.
  8. Since I've started watching RS again, couldn't help but make this topic. Anyway, here are my personal favorites [not much, since again, I've only gotten back into watching the show since forever]: Brain Eraser Night Owl Stick Hockey This is My Jam
  9. Brilliant, brilliant series, one of the best in my opinion. I love how complex the cast of characters is, how no one is "a hero or a villain", how deep the writing goes, where all the possibilities are considered before anyone makes a decision in the story and some horrifyingly dark (and occasionally even spiritual) themes are explored, and how suspenseful the fighting scenes are, where the characters always have to find a way to see through the unique trick their opponent is pulling. I am completely up to speed with the manga, which was so good that it got me to watch the anime up until the Greed Island arc...and read some of Yu Yu Hakusho. I'm serious, I really appreciate Yoshihiro Togashi now. I get why people have been frustrated with the slow pace the manga has been coming out at, but so long as the guy continues to show in his work the care he has for quality content, I am for him all the way.
  10. Its definitely a great anime. I really enjoyed the battles in the series and the whole use of Nen. Killua and Gon are likeable characters and I liked how the story turns darker over time. It might feel different from other mainstream shonen animes, but its definitely worth watching it.
  11. I think it was a matter of time before I create thread for this anime/manga series here. I've been loving this series since I started reading the manga and right now, I'm well into the Chimera Ant Arc for both the anime and manga. The characters, the writing, the dark undertones...it's a very different kind of series from the Shonen demographic, so there's quite a lot that I like about HxH. And yeah, there's also the manga's constant hiatuses, but I can't complain because I'm not all caught up yet (and I'm usually patient and I'm unlike the type of fan who accuses Togashi for being lazy whatever chance the fan gets and not because I've also gotten the tendency to put my spin-offs on hold for long periods of time...) I shouldn't be the only one who's into this series. Feel free to discuss your thoughts here.
  12. It's so hard to pick a favorite. Can I list what I have seen instead? Spirited Away Howl's Moving Castle Kiki's Delivery Service Only Yesterday My Neighbor Totoro Princess Mononoke
  13. Howl's Moving Castle is my favorite, i've seen it so many times and its always good to me. Spirited Away also has its moments, as does The Secret World of Arrietty. They're all good movies to me.
  14. I also saw only two of them. They were Spirited Away and Grave of the Fireflies. You can probably tell which one I liked better.
  15. What are your favorite films from this legendary Japanese animation studio? I've only seen two from them, but my favorite would be tied between both of them, "My Neighbor Totoro" and "Kiki's Delivery Service".
  16. chicken run but I somehow havent seen wallace or gromit or shaun the sheep. Also flushed away is really underrated
  17. I regret I'm not really a huge fan of the Aardman style as a whole, though I respect the hell out of it for the obvious hard work it takes. The comedy usually just doesn't resonate with me. The one that probably comes the closest is Chicken Run, though I will give credit to Flushed Away as well for just how odd a movie it is.
  18. Having just recently seen Early Man, I knew I had to make this topic. My personal favorite creation of this legendary studio would be Wallace and Gromit, because I find myself laughing hard every time I watch their short films.
